Review Marks Caribbean Kitchen - Kitchener

Man I don’t usually leave reviews but this place is different. Clean space, amazing food, reasonable prices, friendly staff, and good vibes all around. Chef Mark is a true master of his craft, and Jennifer was a hospitality professional. Will be back soon!

Really delicious food and a party of spices and flavours. Fast and friendly service. Friday evening and I was expecting it to be busier. Fish cakes were absolutely delicious. Too bad there is only 2. I could have had more but I am glad we did not as our mains were plenty of food. We ordered 2 meat combos: Goat curry and jerk chicken and oaxtail and jerk chicken. They were all full of flqvours. The combos also included rice and peas, one deep fried ripe plantain and cabbage salad. We loved it and are coming back to try other items... this place does not have the recognition it should have. Thanks Mark for the food and the flavours!

Very nicely designed sitting. Staff is friendly and has a sense of urgency. However, the food sucks! Doesn't taste Jamaican at all. I had a red snapper which was badly burnt...well beyond the taste of fish. But the shef was kind enough to come and chat after I gave them some feedback.

My new favourite Carribean food place! Food was amazing! Ox tail was cooked perfectly and very flavourful. Curry goat was soft and tender. Rice and beans had a hint of coconut which I loved. Also great portion size. The restaurant itself was very clean and cozy. Staff was exceptional!!!The cook came out multiple times to make sure we were ok and to make sure we loved our food, which we did:) They also had Carib beer paired excellently with my meal. Will definitely come back!

Really good local Caribbean restaurant in downtown Kitchener. The staff were super nice and the food was excellent. For the price, you get a large portion that could definitely feed two people. I got the combo with the oxtail and the jerk chicken and both were flavoursome. Oxtail was nice and tender and the chicken had just the right kick. Thoroughly enjoyed our meal and surely we will be back.

The lady who took our order was nice and helpful. We ordered "Goat Curry" and "Jerk Chicken" and Caesar Salad for takeout. Our food was perfectly packed and it tasted really good. It was spicy as you can expect from Caribbean food, but not overpowering. It's nice to travel to Caribbean countries without leaving Canada, lol (especially during pandemic)

Delicious! I got jerk chicken for take out and the rice and peas were outstanding, but the star of the show was the chicken. Juicy and flavorful!! Would recommend

My wife and I have been meaning to try this place ever since it opened and we finally got there. Very nice decor and atmosphere, with real West Indian music playing (I always appreciate it when ethnic restaurants play ethnic music instead of just a local radio station!). Although the appetizers looked enticing, we went right for the main courses. I ordered the jerk chicken and my wife ordered the curried goat. Years ago, we attended a West Indian church in Toronto for many years. One of the highlights was the great food we were privileged to enjoy, either in people's homes or at meals held at the church, but always prepared by the church members: jerk chicken, curried goat, roti, aki & saltfish, and more. Mark's food took us back there immediately! It was so flavourful and nicely spiced! Having found the jerk chicken at other West Indian restaurants in town a touch on the bland side, it was a joy to bite into something that was so perfectly spiced and tasty! And when I filched a piece of my wife's curried goat, it tasted exactly like dish one of the church ladies made so well and was renowned for. As for portion sizes, Mark's is definitely generous! Congratulations, Mark, on your superb cooking! We will be returning and bringing our friends with us... if they don't get there first after we recommend you to them!

I finally got around to checking out MCK and was totally impressed. Fantastic decor. Had the curry goat and the best dahl puri I ever had. Craft beer. Excellent staff and service. Even Mark the chef came out to find out how things were. It's a place you can go relax and have a fine meal. I highly recommend MCK.

Decor was great, music set the mood perfectly, and the service was excellent. For appetizers, we tried the Calamari, Fish Cakes, and Fried Plantains. They were all superb. Next came the main course. Three of us ordered the Beef Curry with rice and beans and fresh roti. The fourth guest tried the Oxtail with rice. The flavour was amazing, and the meat was so tender... melt in your mouth with a perfect blend of spices and taste. And the portions were beyond generous. We finished off the experience with Cafe Americano and a take out container for the food we couldn't quite finish. I highly recommend you try this place out. I know that I will be going back again and again. Great job!

Just had my first meal here and it was incredible! First , a lovely atmosphere, great music, nice murals. I ordered the Jerk Chicken, one of my favourites. It was perfect - tender, well seasoned and the perfect amount of heat. The service was friendly and attentive. I would highly recommend this spot . Check it out!

This a nice spot. The ambiance and professionalism is GREAT. Bit of a twist from your average /traditional West Indian restaurant. The food is flavourful and the “spiciness” accommodates all tastebuds. If you like it “hot” I highly recommend asking for some of their hot pepper sauce. It’s made from scratch by Mark himself and we suggested that he bottle it to sell it!!! The only reason I didn’t give this a 5 star rating is because the wait staff we had wasn’t well versed on what I consider basic West Indian food requests however I am confident this will improve with time as they are still building business and clientele.

Visited Mark’s Caribbean Kitchen and Seafood on their soft opening night for dinner. We had the fish cakes for our starter, prawn curry, chicken curry and jerk chicken. We emptied the plates it was that good. The food reflects the customer service. By far the friendliest service in Caribbean Cuisine in Waterloo Region. Even the chef himself introduced himself and made sure everything tasted great. Would definitely recommend Mark’s Caribbean Kitchen and Seafood for any occasion.

Just finished an amazing dinner with the family at Mark's Carribean Kitchen. I have to say it's been long over due for downtown Kitchener to get a proper Caribbean cuiseen restaurant cooked to perfection. Portions were so great, my family and I didn't have any room left in our bellies and ended up taking food home! Impressive atmosphere, friendly staff and amazing menu sure to please everyone! You have GOT to eat here!
