Review Three Kretans - Kitchener

The food was really good, the tzaki was incredible as well (butchered that spelling). I wasnt that impressed with the portions of this $20 meal. There was a decent sized salad included with this in a separate box. I have gone to plenty of greek places, and just take out resturants at that. You either buy a take out container that fits your dishes, or you fill the containers you are serving them in. It is a huge turn off for the customer to open a large container and see it look like this. Putting just a spoon or two more of rice can make the portions look so much more luxurious. Just a tip, :) will definitely be back to try another dish in the future!

I ordered takeout from Three Kretans tonight. I haven't had Greek in a while so I was excited and I had never had them before. The food portions were laughably small for paying nearly $40. Im not even exaggerating that the rice portion was like, 2 tablespoons of rice and maybe one potato quartered. Very pathetic. It tasted good but when you pay that much for food, you hope to be satisfied. I've included a pic of my souvlaki "dinner" nothing had yet been eaten or touched. This is completely serious.

Ordered the special for two which provided enough food for three people. The chicken rice soup was very disappointing - tasted like it was from a can (literally exactly like Campbell's), overly salty and bland. Lamb chops and moussaka were tasty and well cooked. Dessert was also very delicious.

This was the first time I ordered from Kretan’s and I was not disappointed. Everything was delicious and authentic. The salad was crisp and fresh with a lovely dressing. The meal had very good portion sizes to the point I have some leftovers for lunch. (Gyro dinner) Will definitely be a repeat customer!!

The Moussaka was very good, the roast potatoes were good but too dry and the three dip meze were ok. (It was a take away)

Service was very friendly and accommodating. Of the three diners we all felt the foods were overly salty, taking away from the expected flavors. Their tatziki was however very good. This is my first visit to this restaurant but I've known of it for probably 40 years, so maybe it hasn't always been this salty.

Last Saturday, this restaurant hosted my 65th birthday party. The food was awesome and amazing. It all came out at the same time - hot and flavourful! Gina and Nick planned it out from the appetizer table, to the special menu (accommodating to those with special food sensitivities) , and the desserts - can't say enough good things about this place...blessings on the new owners. After 25 years, they will have high standards to maintain. Always an OPA experience.

Mousaka is the perfect dish for a rainy day like today and I found the best moussaka in town at Three Kretans in Kitchener by Centre in the Square! This family run restaurant prepares a traditional homemade moussaka using fresh ingredients and they offer large portions. It is honestly the best Greek food I have ever eaten! I am excited to visit again. Niko and Gina (owners) are fantastic people and community supporters...an A+ in my books!

Food was delicious. Service was great. Food delivery was quick when server ascertained that we were behind schedule for a theatre performance.

Tzatziki wasn't as creamy or garlic as I like however all the other items were top notch. Service was quick and very friendly.

The salad looks like it came from a bag and the calamari was like chewing a elastic lol

I ordered the gyro on a pita for a take out lunch today, amazing food as always! Great portion sizes as well, I still have my salad left over for dinner. I always love coming to your restaurant, best greek food I have ever had! Service is always excellent as well. Thanks for making me feel welcome Niko!

What a lovely dinner just before the Christmas rush next weekend. Thanks to all for a tasty healthy meal. My little 6 year old friend enjoyed her meal, the fire when the appetizer was served..OPPA! and the statue fountain. It even felt like we were transported to an evening in Greece..dispite the cold and snowflakes outside. Merry Christmas everyone. Best Wishes for all good blessings and continued success in 2017!

Three Kretans was my venue of choice for my 30th birthday. They gladly accepted our reservation for 20+ people. The service was wonderful and the food was amazing! The lamb souvlaki was prepared just right and there were glowing reviews from all of my guests on the other menu choices (gyros, chicken souvlaki, chicken salad). Thanks for an amazing evening!

Amazing food and ambiance. Loved the flamming cheese appetizer

A taste of authentic Greek food!. My friends and I had the most amazing authentic Greek food at Three Kretans! The chicken souvlaki was perfectly seasoned and the tzatziki was to die for! We also got Saganaki, the flaming cheese! To our surprise they actually flambéed it right at out table with a big "OPA!".... not like other place we had been to in the past. The dessert was the best part - home made baklava... amazing! If your in town definitely check this out!

NOT A GOOD PLACE TO EAT. Avoid at all cost.

Very average food. I went here recently when visiting Kitchener. Though we did go to dinner quite early (just after 5pm on a Saturday), I was surprised to find the place empty. It wasn't until we were finishing up that other patrons entered, around 6:30pm. Perhaps that attests to the food in this establishment, as it's rarely a good sign when you're alone in the restaurant.

I ordered the spanakopita, which came with a salad, pita and hummus. The spanakopita, formed in the shape of a spiral, was very obviously of the frozen variety. The salad was sadly iceberg lettuce, with a generic dressing and a sprinkling of finely crumbled feta (the kind that ends up on your plate rather than your fork). The pita was at least heated (though slightly burnt), and the hummus plentiful but dry. I paid $16 for this meal, which although filling, was not deserving of the price tag. The one upside was because we were the sole diners, the service was quick and attentive. However, I would not return to this place and overpay for a frozen spanakopita again.

Delicious. Visited this restaurant on the recommendation of a staff member at the Centre in the Square. We had tickets to see Wicked and were looking for a place to eat dinner first. This place was located walking distance to the theatre, so we headed over. We were immediately greeted by a pleasant and obviously Greek woman (I'm thinking the owner). We did not have a reservation and the place was packed. Luckily we were able to snag a table. Our server was polite and knowledgeable. We ordered the saganaki to start - it was delicious and came with a flaming OPA from our server. I had the chicken souvlaki - tender and cooked perfectly. My sister had the salmon which she raved about. The wine list, although not extensive, had a good variety and I had a riesling which was nice, and my sister chose the Pino. We finished with a light custard dessert made on site by "mama" ( I think that was the lady at the door). We had an excellent dinner, and will visit again

My daughter and I ate at the Three Kretans prior to a show at Centre in the square. The first thing we noticed was the smell, which I relate to basement and stale beer/wine/alcohol. We had the saginaki which was very good, although it was a simple dish that could've been made at home. I had the salmon. The salmon was excellent, rice was good, but I did not appreciate being served frozen vegetables. My daughter had the Gyro dish, the meat was over cooked, but flavorful. We both had Greek salad as an addition to the meal, I was a little disappointed that we only had two olives, 1 slice of cucumber and 1 slice of tomato in our salads. Being a thing that is grown in Greece, I would have expected more olives. It was a convenient restaurant as it is within walking distance to the venue.

Really great place. Great for families or even just for a night out with friends or a loved one. The food and service is consistently good. Recommend reservations as they are close to the centre in the square, and we have been disappointed in the past with not being able to get a table. The young couple who own the place are very friendly. One of Kitcheners hidden gems.

Very good!. We very much like this restaurant!! They are very authentic, and the greek taste is pretty bang on! I love the location, in the basment... the decor is kind of cheesy, but it adds nice to the atmosphere. Some resteraunts fit that and others dont. This is one of them that does! Their greek salad is a REAL greek salad... it must be the dressing, it just isn't like anywhere else I've had!

Best Greek in KW. I absolutely love this place! They have the best Greek food in town. It may be a little tricky to find, but well worth it! My favourite item is the Dinner for 2 platter, it comes with so much variety - chicken and pork souvlaki, moussaka, soup/salad to start and dessert including the best lamb chops in town. The service is superb. Just recommend making reservations as they are across from the Centre in the Square and tend to be packed those nights with people heading to the theatre.

Not to be a jerk, but this place has a hilarious location. It’s in the basement of an mid-century office “tower”, sharing its space with the YWCA Resource Centre. Inspiring.
