Review Holy Guacamole Fresh Mex - Kitchener

Burritos are full of flavour but the last few visits the quality of the chorizo sausage has really decreased. My problems are with the skin or wrap of the sausage. I can't bite through it as it is so thick and end up having to take apart the burrito just to remove the skin. It never use to be that way when they first opened. Do like the taste of the sausage once it is removed but too much work that I probably will choose another food option.

Got soft taco. It was delicious. As you can from after picture there was none left.

Such a great place for a bite to eat with friends or for takeout! Staff is amazing and so friendly. The food is great and keeps me coming back

Decent place for lunch. Burrito bowls compared to other locations are very small, hardly any rice. Quesadilla, taco and burritos are good. Mostly writing this because it’s the second time on lunch hour during the week I’ve tried to go and it’s unexpectedly closed. Would be nice if google reflected if it was actually open.

BEST BURRITO SHOP IN TOWN. I WISH THEY WOULD SERVE ME A TALL GLASS OF THAT DELICIOUS HOUSE MADE HOT SAUCE TO WASH IT ALL DOWN.

Disappointed with this location. I used to go to the restaurant on Bleams Rd, this location is close to my home & work now. I placed an order for a burrito bowl on-line, my order was ready as soon as I arrived which was nice. Unfortunately, when I got back to work I noticed that my order was missing the rice, beans, and the cheese, so it was basically just a salad. I drove back, and they added those ingredients. Overall not a great lunch, had to drive to and from the location twice, for a mediocre (and now cold) burrito bowl. It was also not very flavorful, just spice (I love spicy, but it has to taste good too). The chips & guacamole are good.

This place makes one of the tastiest tacos and wraps and even salads in the city. A favorite for my son and I. I do wish though that they would go back to shredding their meat - it was way more flavorful.

Great tasting burritos and as authentic as it can get. Generous portions and very reasonable prices. I was disappointed however in their roasted veggie portions for the vegetarian burrito. When I asked if she can add more, I was told they are pre- portioned and offered to add more salad or corn.

Used to go to the university location every Thursday evening- staff used to be friendly and even knew our order- that has changed over the summer- the girl working during the summer was so rude and unfriendly- the staff they have now are just like her- and I agree the food quality has declined! Had a chunk of 'something' in my chicken- not a bone but gristle or something else that was hard and 'un eatable'.

We just had the Taco Bar for our lunch and it was excellent. Our staff loved it because it was different, there were so many topping choices and everything tasted great! We will definitely do it again! Thank you for the great lunch. P.S. - Delivery was great and set-up was quick!

This place is amazing and ALWAYS so fresh! With all the locations you keep opening, could you open one in Guelph? it would bring fresh Mexican to the city

Absolutely the best burritos in town! The flavour is always amazing, and made just the way I ask! I frequently go to the Victoria Street location, and I am never disappointed! Keep up the good work!

Visited the Waterloo-University location today, for the first time in years. Was dismayed when I found out that they no longer served their Cajun Jambalaya Burrito from years past. But the staff there offered to 're-create it', as best as they could remember the combination of ingredients.....it was ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS !! Now, THAT is exemplary customer service !! Keep up the GREAT work Waterloo-University Holy Guacamole ! <3 #fanforlife

I've been eating here since they first opened on Duke and I've tried many of the "others" that have sprung up around the region since. Hands down this is the best Fresh Mex!

Holy Guacamole is absolutely delicious. Extremely fresh and fast, friendly service. Don't waste your time on other burrito places. Would eat here every day if I could.

I regularly go to the Bleams Rd location and always have speedy, friendly service and the food is always delicious! I love the naked chicken burrito!

I have, sadly, moved out to BC and my partner and I were just discussing what we miss most about Kitchener and it was Holy Guacamole. We have tried a number of different Mexican restaurants out here from chain to independent and nothing compares. You're always on our bucket list when we fly back to Ontario to see family. (HG #1, then see family #2). Thanks for being the best damn Mex I have had Canada wide. ❤️

Love HG! Usually go to the Bleams location and have always had amazing service and food.

Love Holy Guacamole, but super disappointed when I went to two different locations tonight and both were out of the vegetables for my veggie burrito. Not impressed!! Is the person who orders supplies on vacation or something?

Today was the last day I will ever support Holy Guacamole. Tuesday, 2:50pm. Victoria St, Kitchener. Walk in. No hello, no greeting at all until we said hello. Ordered 2 burritos. Less than a tablespoon of rice and beans on my burrito. Beans not cooked. WORST part was being overcharged and being told "well we have had a price change a while back." I asked why wasn't the price change reflected on the menu board? Answer "we have had a price change". Oh, and the server who rang it in told us first, it will be $17.05 cents...oh, no wait, it's actually $18.05." So - I take out my calculator and add everything up including the tax and it comes out to $17.04. Not once did the server offer a refund (because, really, it should be ok for an establishment to charge you more than what is listed, without letting you know! -read the sarcasm). And not once did they offer a way to reach a manager or resolve the issue on the spot. RUDE! UNETHICAL. I simply don't understand the lack of integrity/honesty in some companies.

First off I need to say that I love Mexican food, especially burritos and tacos. I have had Tacos from the streets of Acapulco, and burritos from both coasts. Holy Guacamole gives you a fresh take on traditional Mexican dishes, but don't get your hopes up for authentic flavours. My partner and I have holy guacamole maybe once every few weeks, because it is quick and is still delicious. My favourite order is the lime chicken burrito, which is fresh and filling. The tacos and burritos let you customize your order to your desired taste (for me is pretty well everything in the bar). They have plenty of toppings to choose from, and the best part is that guacamole is NOT extra. My biggest criticism, and one I regularly hear from people who have been to Holy Guacamole is that they leave the stems on the cilantro. It may seem like a mundane detail to criticize, but for many like me, it can be over powering with the stems. I love cilantro; it's my favourite herb, but even this can be too much. Holy Guacamole is good and it compares to Burrito Boyz for me; but my favourite Burrito joint is still Chipotle; but until they put a franchise in Kitchener, I will continue to go to Holy Guacamole.

MEH :(. I had high hopes for this place, but was very disappointed.

Paid around $10 for 3 little tacos. Left the place hungry and very unsatisfied.

Taco shells were stale, meat was cold..... I honestly don't understand why anyone has good things to say about this place...

Will not go back.

Not very fresh. I ordered the tacos on the corn shells. They were extremely stale hard to chew not very appetizing. The shrimp taco was very over cooked the chicken taco tasted like sawdust. This was my first visit can't say I will be returning anytime soon.

Who said HG was Authentic Mexican?. Tipsareincluded blogged about Hg not being authentic and for this reason starred them 3 out of 5 however everything else was very good.

I have found nothing in any advertising that HG is authentic Mexican. They know they are not. This place is in the same food group as Chipotle,Burrito Boyz,Mucho Burrito etc etc.

Please when you write/blog rate this amazing place as it is.

Long lines speak for themselves!. Love the fresh guacamole and salsa! Wish the shells and chip were made fresh. Looking forward to the new location opening! We visit this the current location at least twice a month and brave the 30 minute line-ups just to get a burrito. I think the long lines every day speak for themselves.

Yum. Maybe not true Mexican, but delicious and filling nonetheless! Looking forward to a second location with some additional parking!

While not authentic Mexican I have to say that this place knocks the socks off burrito boys. Very fresh and tasty. Only problem was that it's really slow so for most people who only have an hour max for lunch you spend a lot of time in line
Tina
Fresh mex- Yes, Mexican- NO. I went to Holy Guacamole excited to try a new mexican place in the KW area and was very disappointed. As a true mexican food fan I couldn't bring myself to saying that this was even close to mexican food. What it was, was things I could make at home and it would taste the same. I am glad they called it fresh mex because it is very fresh but defintely not authentic or even close to it. How do you offer tacos only on hard shells??!! Just like burrito boys I am yet again disappointed in these fake mexican food places...
Nichole
Amazing. Everything is SO fresh and delish! if you havent tried it youre missing out, best mexican ive ever had!

On this particular evening I had decided I definitely did not want to cook (not that I ever want to) but I also didn’t want to go get something quick and crappy (I was going to be alone for dinner, no point in making a big ‘do’ out of it). I was making a quick trip out to grab some beer when I noticed Holy Guacamole Fresh Mex conveniently located right next door on Victoria Street! This was my first time inside this particular location. As much as I love the idea of beef and rice, etc… wrapped up in a tidy little package, somehow it never comes together into a taste adventure that I particularly like. I had recently heard, however, that they make quesadillas and tacos too. I went in expecting to come out with one of them, but as you can see, I ended up with a burrito. I figured it was the format which would involve the least amount of maintenance while eating, if that makes sense to anyone but me! There are a few tables inside the shop, but I believe the main idea here is fresh food to

Quick food for vegetarians and omnivores alike. Daryl and I both thought the vegetarian option could be as satisfying as any meaty meal, what with choices of lettuce, tomatoes, red onions, cilantro, cheeses, jalepenos, cilantro lime rice, refried beans, black beans, sour cream, burrito sauce, hot sauce, a guacamole with a buttery texture and calm stoney flavor that uses its avocado character and nothing more;

I believe I read recently that they are one of the last Mexican restaurants still standing. They serve fresh tasty food in the Mexican style...there I said it!!! During our visit we ordered a "Spicy Chorizo Sausage Quesadilla" and three "Lime Marinated Chicken Tacos". We also ordered a mango Jarrito and a Diet Coke. Lime Marinated Chicken Tacos I got the tacos with cilantro lime rice, beans, refried beans, lettuce, mild salsa, guacamole, cheese, cilantro, cilantro-lime sauce and sour cream. This was a great combo. Really really refreshing, tasty and filling.
