This is a wonderful restaurant!!!!! Excellent food and great service:) one of the best in all of Kitchener. I have been here many times and will keep coming back, it is absolutely lovely inside and you will never ever be disappointed. This is the place to go:)
Just had a fantastic dinner at this place. Food was excellent with our group enjoying steak and fish dishes. Decor was very nice. Our waiter was charming and the chef came out to talk to us. This place was a great discovery and we will be back!!
Amazing place! Went for my husbands birthday later at night and delicious food! Very friendly, relaxing atmosphere, and great portions! We can't wait to go back.
We've been there twice and it won't be the last! There is a bit of a wait, but remember everything is fresh. Great place for an amazing meal!

It was an awesome atmosphere.. Lots of food and it was delicious.. Waiter was nice friendly.. Also a nice place to drink, chat they have little couches.. Loved it .. We will come again
Amazing food! I had the shrimp and salmon with ginger-soya pesto. So good!! My family got the vegetarian plate and the maple salmon which was also so delicious. The portions were perfect. I was very impressed. The flavours were very different and not what I was expecting but in a good way!
I've been here three times now, and every time the food has been superb! Everything is freshly prepared and served in large quantities. I personally recommend the baked goats cheese salad stater- it is absolutely delicious!
The staff are always incredibly friendly and the restaurant has such a wonderful atmosphere. I highly recommend this restaurant- I will definitely keep going back!
Amazing food, wonderful atmosphere, tantalizes your tastebuds. A must try. Hidden gem in Kitchener!!

We had the restaurant all to ourselves for a birthday celebration. It was a beautiful, quiet atmosphere, light music in the background.
Food was all homemade and excellent. The waiter was amazing and very accommodating. He had a great sense of humour. Will be back for sure!
Fantastic food, nice quiet atmosphere, very welcoming and hospital service. We'll be back again and again...
Loved the food and the atmosphere. Will definitely be back.
My wife and I have been to Stonegate Bistro several times, as a couple, as well as with friends. Each and every time we have thoroughly enjoyed the food, service and intimate atmosphere. This has become our #1 special occasion dining place. Each time we can taste the freshness of the locally purchased ingredients as well as the vibrant flavours in all entrees. In our experience, the chef comes out when he can, and interacts with his guests. We like the personal touch that this adds.
One of those holes in the wall that you want to tell your fronds about because you want them to make a go of it. The food is honest and flavourful. Good value . But, kind of a weird location with low charm and odd choice in music.
Lunch with three. Goat cheese salad. Salmon and shrimp pasta. Rigatoni. Linguine primavera. All absolutely excellent. Service very good by owner. Highly recommended.
From the moment you walk in and down the stairs the restaurant had an extremely warm vibe and it was very inviting. It was my husband and my Annivesary today and we wanted to try a new place we have never been before. From the start right until the time we exited the doors, the service was immaculate! From the appetizer, to main course to dessert and coffee was absolutely amazing. Myself, being a healthy eater I found my meal extremely fresh, satisfying and it digested very well afterwards. I never had the sluggish feeling you usually get at some restaurants after eating out. I will for sure go back. All the flavours were perfectly executed in every dish and I will recommend this place to anyone and everyone. Not one complaint at all and I am extremely hard to please when it comes to sufficient production of restuarant food.
First time at Stonegate Bistro. My boyfriend and I were driving around Kitchener to find a place to eat when we seen Stonegate Bistro and thought we would try it out. Not knowing what to expect we walked down to a very warm and inviting atmosphere, very fancy. We were feeling a little under dressed, but the Chef and staff made us feel right at home. We were seated and the Chef introduced himself and our server. We then ordered our drinks which were delivered quickly. The Chef then gave us a complimentary salad, which was filled with lots of flavours. Our server was very friendly, she was always asking us how our food was and made sure our glasses were never empty. The chef came out and even suggested a local beer for us to try (on him), it was rather good. Better then the beer we originally ordered. My boyfriend had steak and I had chicken, and they were both full of flavour, you could tell he used high quality ingredients. We were both very impressed on the service, we felt like we had been in their own home, the quality of the food and the flavours were just incredible and the atmosphere was just perfect. We will definitely be coming back and recommending it to our friends.
Great Restaurant. Came to this restaurant on Canada Day, the place was empty so we had great service! The food was great and the portions were huge! highly recommend this restaurant!
Another excellent restaurant in Kitchener. Urbanspoon already liked this place so I decided to wander in. When I first saw the menu I was struggling to see what they wanted to be, however after talking to the Chef and Owner - their goal is to cook good local food and produce. The restaurant is only a few minutes from the Kitchener market, every few days they shop at the market and what they find becomes the menu. If my dinner this evening is representative then they handle the market fare well.
My meal started with an organic green salad with goat cheese. It worked well with the dressing. The bread was homemade and just about the first time in years I've wanted to eat white bread. My main, the Double Chicken Breakfast, was cooked in a Moroccan style and came with grilled vegetables. I'm not the best at describing food, so I will just say it was delightful and I'm now full to exploding.
Stop reading this review and plan your first evening there.
(Wondering why it has so few reviews? The restaurant is only three months old.)
Fantastic Experience. My family and I decided to try something new and stopped by Stonegate Bistro for dinner. Not only was the food fresh, delicious and cooked perfectly to order, but the staff and atmosphere made us feel more than at home (the service was AMAZING). The talented chef took the time to personally converse with us and thank us for visiting. We will definitely be back frequently!
This place was amazing. The owner/chef is very talented and adds his own flare to great dishes. The ambiance is beautiful and the service was great. This could be my new regular.
As often happens, we were lazing around wondering where we should go for dinner. I don’t know how we managed to come across it, but once discovering Stonegate Bistro online, and checking out the reviews, it was obvious that we had to go! I believe the bistro opened in Februray of this year, so it is still fairly new. I really hope that they manage to make a name for themselves as, it could just be me, but I think their location may work against them. I do hope I’m wrong. I hope that downtown Kitchener will somehow find a way to bring people in and keep them coming back. At least Stonegate has plenty of signage to direct you down to their classy little cavern! And who knows, maybe they will be one of the things that keeps people coming back, I know I will definitely be visiting them again. Our meal was spectacular from beginning to end. To start we were presented with a basket of pita pieces and bread along with oil for dipping. I found that I liked the pita with the oil, but the bread on its own. Somehow, for me, the herbs in the bread just didn’t seem to go with the herbs in the oil. Next up was my soup, the starter from my 3-course prix-fix theatre menu selection. The soup of the day was a creamy tomato and lentil soup. It was so seriously deliciously creamy. I could probably live without the lentils, but I would still have that soup again any day! My mate didn’t order a starter, but the chef was making complimentary salads that day so we decided to share it. With neither of us being to big on our veggies, we were both very surprised at how much we enjoyed the mixed greens, tomatoes, cucumbers and sweet vinagrette with goat cheese (or feta, but I think it was goat). As you may have noticed, I especially play it safe with salads, generally going for the caesar variety, as they can be so touch-and-go. But this one was certainly a winner. For my main I selected the atlantic salmon with a lemon dill sauce. I was expecting it to arrive with garlic mashed yukon gold p
Second time coming here & it was just as wonderful as the first time (last fall - before a show at the CITS) ! Don't let the neighbourhood & outer building shell fool you. This is FINE DINING with lovely stone decor inside & a gorgeous atmosphere. The food is DELICIOUS !!
Upon seating, we were offered water, warm bread & oil.
My lovely wife had a nice red wine & I had ice tea (they don't serve mixed drinks).
For the meal itself - we started with the Mixed Mushroom Flatbread (sooooo tasty!). YUM !
My wife had the Herb Crusted Beef Tenderloin & I had the Louisiana Cajun Sirloin Steak . Both meals were amazing - served with potatoes, grilled zucchini & fresh asparagus. Kudos to the chef, for not holding back on the spice for the Cajun Sirloin. I had a nice little forehead crown sweat going.
Sadly, we didn't have room for dessert - but we can only imagine that it would have been quite memorable, as well.
We have to drive an hour to and from The Twin Cities, so that alone should let you know that this is a place worth visiting. Make it your next destination stop for a special culinary experience !!
My husband and I went for our anniversary and loved it. The food was plentiful and delicious. The ambiance was warm and inviting with lovely music in the background. The service was very friendly and accommodating, we felt like guests in their home. The price was very reasonable. We will definitely be back!
My spouse and I had our birthday celebration dinner here and the food was fantastic, irresistible, and flavourful. The serving size was massive and consisted a lot of side veggies with so much good flavours. I ordered a grilled 10 oz NY strip loin for about $30, but it was one of the best steaks I've ever had in a long time; much better than the Keg. I don't regularly eat veggies but I do when I'm eating at Stonegate Bistro. Also don't forget their desserts; I had the best crème brule at Stonegate that I never had in a long time. Highly recommended to fine diners and date nights.
I went with a group of friends for a bachelorette party., and we had a fantastic time. The food was delicious and plentiful, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. The owners were so friendly and kind, you almost have the sense you are guests in their home. My whole experience was very positive, and I would definitely recommend this restaurant.
Great food served in generous portions. Spiced with a hand ground mix of preferred ingredients it was uniquely flavored for a distinctive dining experience. Cozy settings with a good wine list. A really nice evening!
My wife and I absolutely love eating at the Stonegate Bistro. We have been here with friends and family and are never disappointed. The owner is the cook and boy does he know how to bring out the flavours. Highly recommend this. Come hungry.
Went for a work lunch and the service and food were outstanding. Normally I don't enjoy eating out as my husband is a chef and nothing hits my palate they way his foods do, but I will recommend this place over and over it was so delicious. Portions were perfect sized and it was well worth the money.
Good atmosphere and decor. Service was great. Bruschetta and steaks were fantastic. Only not so good thing was, the apple crumble had too much cinnamon and spices.
I'd go back again
Quiet atmosphere on a Tuesday. They just introduced the new menu so there were some errors. They made up for it by adding a bit more to the meals. Service was great as we were the only party there for the first hour. Will go back another day.
This is my favourite restaurant in Kitchener-Waterloo right now. The appetisers alone are worth it: the seafood crostini, the grilled vegetables, and the homemade flatbreads in particular are just amazing.
The first thing they bring you is a basket of fresh hot pita bread and oil for dipping, and it is simply wonderful bread. The "grilled vegetables" sound boring, right? Well, they're not! I order them every time, and my biggest regret is that I can't order all of the appetisers each time, and still have room for a main course. Best food in the city.
great place! we made a reservation on Saturday night for the next night -
when we got there the owner told us that the staff member had forgotten that the restaurant was supposed to be closed that night, but that he had opened it especially for us! quite alone in the restraurant, and great food! and great hospitality!
Went here for a work dinner a couple weeks ago. Service and staff were lovely and the food was delicious. Definitely a hidden gem. I'd highly recommend the yellow fin tuna for any seafood lovers.
