Certified! Great lunch at Ellisons today. Service was top notch. Presentation was a 10/10. I would’ve given five stars to the jerk if it was done on the drum vs. oven but other than that, outstanding. Check them out if you’re on the hunt for good Caribbean food in the downtown!! 💯

Fantastic Caribbean cuisine in downtown Kitchener. It was easy to find parking in the back, but it's also in a nice walkable location near the ION stop. The ambience of the place is very nice, it's beautifully decorated and the lighting gave the space a very cozy feel. The service was very good, they were very personable and nice to us, and the food came out in a reasonable time. The food itself tasted great. The portions for the price were very reasonable and filling. The plating of the food was very well done and looked pretty fancy. We had the pepper pot soup, curried goat, and jerk chicken. They were served with side of rice and vegetables. Definitely worth going back. We will for sure to try the other items.

Excellent Jamaican cuisine. The staff is super friendly and the food is even better. We tried the blackened catfish and the jerk chicken. Both servings were large for the price and delicious. Will definitely be returning to try out some of the other dishes.

I always enjoy bringing people to Ellison's. Local chef and proprietor Elvis is very friendly and welcomed guests to his bistro. I find the food tasty - my two favourites are the jambalaya and the blackened catfish. I enjoy dining on white table cloths. I especially appreciate that there's no distracting music in the background, so you can have good conversation with your dining companion.

Tastes like my grandmother's cooking. I'm so blessed to have found this place. My favourites are the pepper pot soup, sweet potato dessert, stuffed sole and catfish. But everything is good here. Staff are lovely and caring

We visited Ellison's Bistro this past Wednesday and ordered the Rack Of Lamb Port Antonio & Me Mah Oxtail. The food was delicious, the presentation was very classy, and the intimate feeling of the restaurant created a great dining experience. We had conversations with the owner/chef and head waitress throughout our meal. I've been looking for some good Caribbean food in Kitchener and I'm glad I finally found Ellison's Bistro. I would highly recommended a visit to them and will be returning again soon.

The food was really nice! And really well made. The owner, who also does the cooking, clearly knows how to cook and how to put flavours together that complement each other. I had a wrap with chicken and it was accompanied by a nice salad. You don't often get that for lunch and for me, a meal isn't really a meal if it doesn't contain vegetables or salad in some way, so I really appreciated that! There are so few restaurants left that are not part of a chain, but they are almost always a much better choice than most chain restaurants. Independent restaurants are where you go to get surprised, or have a great culinary experience. I can only recommend the food here, everyone should try it. My only complaint was that the air in there was so hot and stuffy. I have to admit that we went on a super hot day, above 30C outside, and I already had a headache brewing when we got there, so I can't blame my headache solely on the restaurant, but I am quite sensitive to the air quality in a room, and would probably not dine-in during a hot day again. I am sure it will be much better on a not so hot day though!

Accidentally found this place on our way through Kitchener. Quaint place with a family feel. Chef came out several times to check in on us. Curry goat was super flavourful and tender with a nice thick gravy. Friends were super happy with their jambalaya and roti. Portions were generous and everything was home made and fresh. We'll be back next time we drive through.

I brought a co-worker here who was visiting from the US. She was in the mood for Caribbean food so I started looking for the best option not far from her hotel. I had never been here before. I am a lover of authentic Jamaican/Caribbean food and this did not disappoint. We had the Curry Goat Roti and the Jerk Chicken. Roti made in house as was the delicious hot sauce that we took a bottle of home with us. I absolutely loved that it was a nice sit down restaurant with option to have a nice glass of wine as opposed the the takeout style of most Caribbean restaurants. Elvis (Owner/Chef) and Zorina (hostess/waitress) were so awesome and attentive.

Absolutely delicious food, and warm, kind service. Ellison's Bistro is a gem. I got the vegetarian roti, and the person I was dining with got the chicken roti. Both were perfectly seasoned and very filling. I highly recommend the roti. I will be back!

The best caribbean food that I've experienced. The avocado stuffed veal was flavorful and filling. The pepper pot soup had a unique combination of delicious flavors, the best soup I've had in months. The owners were friendly and wholesome. They made me feel welcome and I learned about their history and experiences. The owner/chef is traditionally trained and fuses European techniques with caribbean classics. Do yourself a favor and eat here!

My wife and I had a date night away from the kids and decided to try this restaurant. Upon entry, we were greeted by the hostess and chef in the most friendly manner. We had some appetizers, and they were delicious, especially the shrimp. Our entree we had was the ox tail and the curried goat. Both dishes were phenomenal. It is such a different flavoring that you do not get anywhere else. It was so good. The service was great the food was great I will be recommending this restaurant and you have to try it to. Definitely would be coming back. Hats of to the chef, thank you for a great experience
