Review Portsmouth Tavern - Kingston

Wow! Amazing place. The staff were super friendly and helpful. We wanted to change something in our burger and they did it immediately. We tried their famous PKBurger and fish-n-fries/chips. Both were superb, delicious, mouthwatering and great. I highly recommend this place.

First day in Canada and first dine out. Just made my day even more excited. Amazing place, amazing people. super friendly . I definitely recommend to any foodies out there. I will be back! After SLC I now know Portsmouth Tavern😍. Cheers!

Great food selection and a good sampling of craft beer. Super friendly staff and a great pub atmosphere. The Disha and chips were excellent.

Service was great, very prompt. Had Fish and Chips. My wife had beef dip with chips. Both meals came quickly however the fries were disapointing ... over done.

I have lived in Kingston for 10 months and have always loved the Portsmouth tavern. However, tonight (30 July) there was a rather petulant elderly gentleman sat next to me at the bar , evidently an elderly regular who owns a company and thinks he is entitled, was listening to a conversation between my wife and myself regarding our current roles i health care. My wife became animated and placed her phone down whilst displaying a conversation Thaf was had at work, said gentleman decided to go on a barrage of abuse about healthcare and myself and my wife sat and had to listen. I became irate and had to leave the premises. My wife tried tohave a discussion with said “gentleman” and was thrown out. Upon exiting the building to our Uber said gentleman drove his white truck with his business logo on it from the Portsmouth under the influence of alcohol displaying his middle finger and hurling abuse. Thank uour Portsmouth tavern for supporting drunk drivers and not not veterans who take Ubers !!!!

Nothing like a good strong choir practice to make your week.

After spending 29 years in this city not knowing about this hidden gem, I've had the pleasure of finally enjoying not one but two fantastic meals. I highly recommend trying both the Fish and Chips as well as the Cheese Steak Hoagie - absolutely fantastic! I will be back!

Went there ealy June to watch my friends band (Fast Forward to Friday) play. A fair size group of us were there. We had good service and food was awesome. I think the best Calamari Ive had in quite awhile. Wings were superb and Im a wing fanatic....Definitley go back again....

Great music, wonderful people, amazing bar service! Absolutely love going here on Friday nights! And it will continue to be my Friday night tradition for many years to come!

One of the worst eating experiences Ive had in a long time. Went with my family and it took almost an hour ro bring us our food which was just hamburgers and fish and chips. Plus they forgot my brothers burger and it took over an hour to get that which is ridiculous. They seemed more concerned with talking to the regulars then serving us. Sub par service, sub par food and never coming back again.

Great service with great ppl! Rewind played the night I was there. Rewind me back in time with those tunes! 👍 The perfect name for that band, along with a peaceful place to watch them. I'll be back!

Yupi.ca Christmas Grinch party held at the Ports yesterday! Great location, fantastic food, cold draft and lots of tolerance for our hysterical games! Thanks to Chuck and staff at the ports! We will see u again soon!

Facebook isn't my place for ranting and bitching and airing grievances. I believe in being positive. But I also strive to be exceptional. So I'm going to make an exception and state publicly that after getting zero service for the fourth time in a row going to the Portsmouth Tavern, I am positive I won't be back. I gave up on them after the second time it took hours to get any food. I have tried two more times to go back based on the bands playing there, last nights bill was Sweet Talk Jackie and Chalk Lines. I came in hungry, asked the server if the kitchen was open while taking out cash right in front of her, when she said yes I said "great". Two hours later I had never even seen a menu. Four times this has happened. Different staff, different times of the day, different levels of business. It's just the way they do things. I live two blocks from the Ports, but if your band is booked there I'll be paying to cab home from another band's gig at the Mansion, BLU Martini, Toucan, Musiiki, Sir Johns, Red House, RCHA, or Overtime and I'll have to catch your next show. Nothing personal.

Was extremely disappointed that their doors were locked by 11pm on St. Patrick’s Day

Was our first visit. Went in for lunch and a couple drinks with my mom and spouse. Food was excellent, service was nice and in a friendly environment. Definitely coming again.

The food was good. The prices were excellent. The service was atrocious. We sat down and drink orders were taken after a few minutes. Our drinks came and we were told we had to settle up right away. When I questioned I was told it was shift change so I had to pay for the drinks now. We then sat and waited for our orders to be taken. A server was on his way to our table and saw a table of people he obviously knew that had just come in and changed directions. He went over spoke to them for a while, took food and drink orders got them their drinks, then came to take our orders. This was 30 mins after we sat down. We then waited over 40 minutes to receive our food. When I inquired how much longer our food would be, we were told they only had one cook on duty. We would of walked out but we were hungry and visiting Kingston for the day and did not know the area very well. It seems if you are a regular here you get excellent service however if you are not a regular then you do not rate good service. I don't know many pubs that would have shift change at 5:30pm and only have 1 cook on a Thursday evening. I think they need somebody new to do their staffing for them.

New Year's Eve started pathetically slow but the Karaoke Host and Bar Tenders were positive. We carried the flag by singing more than usual. Lo and behold by 11 pm the joint was rocking and Karaoke Show killing it. Reminded me evaluations are sometimes what can you do to take responsibility for having a good time.

Perfectly hit the spot. Stopped in for late lunch after touring the Kingston Penitentiary. Greeted promptly and drinks served quickly. 2 in our party had the Friday fish n chips special, the Boss had the Chicken Caesar Wrap and I had the Cheese Steak hoagie. Everyone cleaned their plates and the food was simple and simply delicious. Sat at a front table and looked out over the marina and Portsmouth Olympic Harbour. Great food, friendly service and yummy food. Thanks Portsmouth Tavern, look forward to seeing you again soon !!

Worst Bartender Ever possible. I go to this pub frequently and I question myself why lately do I spend money in this run down joint?? I love all the staff there beside CHUCK he's been there for30 years and you know he's tired and hates his job!! He's miserable to his staff and even worse to his customers!! He's the most awful human possible where he will sit there and make fun of your dead grandmother who just passed hours ago abusing staff right infront of customers it's time this sad sorry fool thorows in the towel before he runs the place in the ground!!<br/>I know myself if he wasn't there I would go all the time but I personally avoid that place cause of him it's a shame really
