Review Tir Nan Og - Kingston

Drinks were great, server was lovely! The veggie quesedilla, however, left a lot to be desired. Yes, the photos look like I picked off the ingredients, but you may be surprised to learn this is how they arrived to the table. I opened up the sad shell to find even sadder insides. The server even said she wouldn't eat it either. 😳

Oh the food was terrible, the Caesar salad was not FRESH AT ALL and the fish and chips was kind of raw although I asked them to make it crispy. The Beef Penne was not good enough as well. The Fish tasted bitter and it was only one piece 😳😳and the portion of waffle fries was also very small in comparison with other restaurants. Moreover it was pricy in comparison with other restaurant. DEFINITELY DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS RESTAURANT AT ALL. 👎👎👎👎👎

It was very hard to choose between great food, every bite was delicious. Very cozy atmosphere, friendly staff, quick service. Very clean washrooms and place. We had chat with a local mister, he was lovely.

From the outside the front part of the pub looks very interesting the ceiling etc but well once inside a little disappointing the atmosphere is strange the service isn’t very good at all we were sat in the back by the fireplace service took forever we just had the Yorkshire pudding bites for us there was something missing. Is it confusing as there sign outside says the Old Speckled Hen but this is all owned by the Irish pub.

One of the best I have been to. Great food. Good vibes. Enjoyed a lot with the family. Nice place to be.

Haven't been here in awhile but ordered quite a few times lately. Orders are always correct and the food is absolutely tremendous. The Blarney Burger is incredible and on my next trip downtown for a meal I will 100% be going to get that burger again. Please never remove it from the menu! :)

One of my favourite spots in the city. They have a very nice atmosphere with delicious food, good live music, and very nice and professional staff.

My wife and I stopped in here for lunch while at the Buskers. It's been many years since we were there last and this visit did not disappoint. The service was quick and friendly and the atmosphere is great. There were many great options on the menu but had poutine which you won't find on the menu, but it's delicious and the price was very reasonable.

My bestie and I had dinner and drinks on the patio. All the staff were friendly especially our server Ashley, it looked like she was the only server for the whole patio. The first round of drinks came mine was fine but my friend had fruit flies in hers. The burger I ordered was very good however I didn't eat my salad because the lettuce wasn't washed, dirt and bugs.

The service is terrible, you have a prime location with an excellent menu but you need to get your act together in the service department. After waiting for 10 minutes on the patio we were seated and given menus; after another 15 minute wait with not even a drink order we left and went to Tango Nuevo where we were greeted immediately, seated, had a drink within 5 minutes and our food in the same amount of time we waited on the patio there.

On Sunday evening myself and 3 friends decided to stop in for dinner. This place looked perfect for us and the warm, cozy atmosphere was just the pub we thought we were looking for. But as we were enjoying our first round and settling in I watched a table next to us get comped an entire meal and became hesitant about ordering food in your establishment. We spoke frankly with our server about it and she assured us this wasn't usual so we decided to trust her and order anyway. Oh and just for the record the comp meal was a burger served raw. Suffice to say I should have trusted my hesitation over our server. Myself and one of my friends both got violently ill with food poisoning from our meals and missed out on two days of our vacation because of it. I am not sure what is going on in your kitchen but from what I have experienced what you are serving is downright dangerous, you should be ashamed of what you are serving people.

ever since tir na nog opened in 1996 they, along with Kingston irish folk club, have been the major sponsor in initiating and promoting a number of celtic cross monuments in the Kingston area in memory of a number of important Canadian and irish historical events -including the first to erect a monument to the est 1,000 irish labourers and their coworkers who died building the Rideau canal --and the mass grave of irish great hunger victims ,many still buried under KGH parking lot -as well as the first to recognise and mark kingstons upper cemetery in skeleton park --Kingston irish folk club looks forward to continuing this important community project along with Tir na nOg irish pub

Honestly have been in better Irish Pubs A lot depends on the day. I have been and had great service and good food and other times the exact opposite. I don't mind the place however with so many places to pick in Kingston this wouldn't be my go to place.

We love Tir Nan Og. Whenever we are in Kingston we never miss spending some time here. The food is really good. The cocktails even better. Servers are friendly. We have never had a problem with service as some others have mentioned, but we are there to have a drink and relax a bit, so we are never in a hurry. And the location is so convenient to have a few drinks and walk back to the hotel.

got sat in the dark in a corner. used my flashlight to read the menu nevermind had to use 1 menu at a table of 4 bc they didnt have enough. Than when the table beside us sat down we had to have their flashlight in our faces bc they couldnt see. collected our plates and didnt offer anything else just asked if all items were on one bill. 1 of the ppl at the bar had 3/4 of a beer left. We were planning on having dessert. We were paying with a giftcard...got handed the debit terminal. she didnt even ask how we were paying. Just a disaster. Food was good. Kudos to the kitchen. Service was probablly the worst we have had in the city.

The Guinness burger was great and in highly recommend the Barking Squirrel beer that is micro brewed in Ontario. The wait staff were friendly, helpful and prompt. I will definitely return on my next visit to Kingston.

What a great lil spot! We arrived late because that's how we do and we closed the bar with staff! Choices for cider and one even on tap! I had the poutine on the advice of the young kitchen staff... He was right the new gravey rocks! The live music was right up my alley too! Sooo excited to return to Kingston... This lil spot will be on our list to do again! Thanks for the awesome experience!

I have not been in-person. We ordered a poutine and an appetizer tray via SkiptheDishes. The restaurant missed three of five items in the appetizer tray, such as the entire spinach dip but not the stale chips for dipping, and we were all very sick following our meals. We have heard awful things about the atmosphere and so decided to try out catering. I would never recommend!

First rate as a performer and as a customer. Great people, warm, inviting decor, good food, nice authentic pub ambiance! Great place to hear music, eat or meet friends for drinks!

People make a Public House and this place is the definition of that. Great staff, amazing historic building. It’s a must stop in Kingston.

LOvely pub, good food, good beer. Great to go with company. The service is excellent most days and great location close to the water.

First time at the Tir Nan O'g and my boyfriend and I loved it!! We both had burgers and they were delicious! Huge portion sizes and the waitresses and manager were so kind! Will definitely be back for Thursday karaoke

A great place for lunch or dinner. Our family of 7 stopped for lunch and were seated inside due to patio being full and it was a great decision. Eric, our waiter was very friendly and quick to take our orders. The food was very good including kids menu. We will surely stop here again.

Terrible place for groups Two hours and fifteen minutes and we all haven't eaten Meals sent back now as burgers are burned Keep being told the patio is busy however we booked this group weeks ago - be prepared for a group Will not be returning

Stopped by for pre dinner drinks. Nothing extraordinary about this place. Looks a bit old and dated but maybe they are aiming for the "ye ole pub" look. I had some sort of alcoholic lemonade, it was ok but way too much ice!

Cheap and cold drinks and entertaining to watch karaoke on a Friday night. Bar and wait service was ridiculously slow and the waiters would vanish for what felt like an eternity. Great location next to city hall.
Dan
Fantastic place, great service, cold beer. Food was fantastic and there is great live music every weekend. Who ever gave this place a bad review is doesn't have a clue what they're talking about

Meh, there are better restaurants a few paces away. I've had dinner a few times. Food is so-so and the beer is not cheap and the service is ok. Decor is dark, worn and More dreary than cheery.

Watch the Draught. Was there last Friday, and ordered a draught. Could taste and smell the chemicals used in cleaning the draught lines. When brought to the attention of the bar staff, nothing was done to correct situation. Disappointed. paying with tip almost $10 a beer to have it stink of chemicals is not good performance.

Hit and miss. I've been here several times over the past few years and have experienced both excellent and poor service. The whisky menu is one of the better ones in town and much of it is kept away from the lights of the main bar. This makes up somewhat for the lackluster and overpriced beer selection.

The music's usually good and they have regular karaoke nights. The mix is, as another reviewer mentioned, within reasonable levels and conversations are unimpeded.

The beautiful location makes it a very relaxing place to stop for a refreshing wheat beer on a hot summer day. Unfortunately, the unreliable quality of service means this is not an establishment where I would go to for dinner with family or friends.

We were gravely disappointed at this place. We waited a while to get seated, not because there aren't any available seats but because there weren't anyone dedicated to welcome guests. The pub served us our wine on regular glasses because they "Ran out of wine glasses" at 3pm in the afternoon. They charred the steak when we ordered well-done. Well-done steaks aren't suposed to be charred just ask chef Ramsey. And the worst part was they overcharged us on the wine. They charged us for 4 glasses when we only ordered 3. Make sure to check your bill before paying. The only nice thing was the location. But never again!

Mediocre. As my teenagers would say, "Meh", as in, I can take it or leave it.

Don't let the Irish-sounding name fool you. It's your basic average attempt to copy the Irish pub experience, but it only works if your Irish pub experience is in the touristy areas of Ireland. But if your experience is with the small town pubs that offer genuine Irish cuisine and music that caters to the locals, this place won't quite measure up. My Irish stew tasted like it came from a can and it was so hot when they delivered it that I had to wait a long time before I could touch it. Such heat is only achieved in a microwave. The stew pot would be boiling over to make it that hot. Their chips (french fries) were pretty good and the portion was very generous. The Guinness was disappointing. I watched the bartender pour it and he didn't use the two pour technique - blasphemy! The local music that night was okay but nothing spectacular. The good news is they don't play it so loud that you can't carry on a conversation.

Great place. We are from the states. Music was great and the place was very authentic. Food was good, service was friendly.

Great place to go and have a beer. A great place to go and grab a few drinks, nice atmosphere usually have a live singer/band, decent prices same as everywhere else, all in all a good place to take company to if you are looking for your standard pub
