My family and I visited Italy this summer and had gelato every day for the 5 days we spent there, and Mio gelato is still the best gelato I've ever tasted! The flavours never disappoint, and the staff is always pleasant!
During the summer, I basically never go downtown without getting Mio. It is honestly the best thing ever. Personal favourites: Lemon/passionfruit or PB&J/nutella
My favourite place for gelato. Specially love the passion fruit, first gelato that actually tastes like the actual fruit.. But they are all very delicious .
I tasted both gelatos and sorbettos flavours and as according to me it was the best dessert, i've ever had.

Great gelato! My hubby got me addicted and it's our summer go to treat. The flavors are spot on and a great variety to choose from. Pistachio, Orange Chocolate and Amaretto are a few of my favorites :)
I had the lemon gelato and the coconut gelato. Absolutely delicious!
Always excellent. My seven year old has a tough time getting through two scoops before it melts outside but that's a personal problem... mine's gone before it's even a problem. I love the lemon and the cappuccino, the pralines and cream, chocolate mint, peach, ...the list goes on.

My rating out of 5� = 100!!!! In all honesty, my quality of life has vastly improved since discovering this gem years ago!! First, you can smell the distinct aroma of their freshly baked waffle cones from down the street. Then you are greeted by several happy smiling faces from the staff, serving consistently AH. MAZ. ING. gelato made with only the most pristine of ingredients. THEN you can help yourself to squishy fresh gummies.. uhh, doesn't get any better than this folks. Just kidding, it does!!!! There are new flavours EVERY DANG WEEK and they have great hours not only through the summer, but in the spring and fall too. The best!!

Not only amazing tasty products but so receptive to severe food allergy concerns. One of the servers brought out a page w all the various restrictions/allergens in an easy to read format for us to see.

Great prices compared to gelatos in Montreal. Excellent taste and creamy texture, great flavors. A must have during a stop to Kingston.
Though a tad pricey, one bite you will be hooked. Appeared to be a very popular spot for locals and travelers like myself. Staff was helpful and gave us the run down and tasting samples were provided.

This is by far the best Gelato in Kingston! The flavours are amazing with a huge variety available, the cones are fresh and crispy. Never been disappointed!
We arrived in Kingston late evening 11:00pm and we really needed food, it was Thursday night downtown Kingston and most places were already closed or just served alcohol. We were direct to Mio Gelato!! yay!

We ordered a Cesar Salad, very garlicky, we love garlic, so very yummy salad!! We ordered a build your pizza.. prosciutto, mushrooms, onions and mozzarella! Wow. it was just right and tasty! It was a perfect place, perfect amount if food in a perfect City!! thank you Mio Gelato!! We'll be back!
Delicious. Had the local raspberry and pistachio, very flavourful and great texture. Lovely place, mouthwatering to see all the flavours ! Nice and friendly service. Kids loved the chocolate and cookies and cream.

Popped by here after eating at Dianne's Fish Bar for a light and cool finish to our meal. Very popular establishment with a line-up out the door on a Friday night. But they had lots of staff and we were served quickly. They have a truly large selection of flavours from traditional to unique. You have the choice of cone or cup and can choose 2 flavours if out want even with the small adult size. We all had something different - a few of us two flavours - and everyone said theirs was the best. :) Great way to end our evening. Forgot to take a photo - but lots here.

Decadence in a Cup. Thanks to frequent business travel, I'm fortunate to have tried gelato in dozens of places in Italy. I found myself in downtown Kingston for job-related training for 3 weeks last October. We were staying at a hotel nearby. Mio was on the way back to the hotel from the local restaurants. We tried it the first night and it's fair to say that the restaurants were unsuccessful in getting us to try their desserts during our stay. Knowing that Mio was waiting for us on our walk back meant we weren't interested. Besides, the walk helps to "justify" stopping for an ice cream on the way back.
Mio is the first place I have found that comes close to the experience in Italy. There's no question that the visual display is an important part of the attraction.The enticement of those bright colours makes it impossible for any ice cream lover to walk away. But it's the taste and texture of gelato that make it an experience, and Mio is right up there with the best places I've tried in Italy. Their gelato is rich and creamy and the flavours are exactly as advertised. I'm thankful I don't live in Kingston. Mio would be a major drain on my wallet and a major gain on my waistline!

Mio Gelato is a great place!!. My name is Zach, on my birthday May 31. I went into Mio Gelato because it was great gelato. As i went into the store, they just made a Waffle Bowl and they wanted someone to try it out. i voluteered and so i got the Waffle Bowl, i got 3 flavours, Rasberry, chocolate and (something else, i can't remeber). Everytime i go into Mio Gelato, they know who i am, they its thee Waffle Bowl Guy!! I always order the Waffle Bowl now. Also they're really nice people and friendly.
Better than Drugs. Don't go here, lest you get addicted and have dreams about the place. And end up getting twitchy when you need your fix.
In May, Mia Gelato opened just a few doors down from White Mountain. Prior to this, it was a shop owned by a Lebanese family who sold ice cream and shawarma. An interesting combination. I really enjoyed the shawarmas at 1am after going out at Joy. What I
Hazelnut ice cream was really good! It was a little too sweet to our taste but still worths a try. We are giving 4 star only because large cone we ordered could not carry 3 scoops and collapsed. My husband could not finish his ice cream and had to throw it. Other than this, store has a very friendly and fast service. Everything we ordered was very fresh and reasonably priced. Definitely recommended!!’
With it being 30 degrees outside, stopping here was an easy decision. Serving authentic Italian gelato, frozen yogurt and sorbetto flavours, there’s something for everyone. I appreciated that they were able to offer a sample as it can be overwhelming seeing all the choices. Whatever you pick, I guarantee it’ll be delicious and you’ll return!
Mio Gelato has apparently been around since 2010, but I didn’t even notice it last time I went to the ice cream parlour next door! It is now very popular especially on summer days with lineups inside. As a local gelato shop, they offer a variety of fresh gelato flavours and even allow you to taste a sample if interested.
Our small cup came with two decent sized scoops. The raspberry lemonade was colourful pink and tasted equally refreshing as the flavour name suggested. The dulce de leche was a creamy affair that resembled evaporated milk in flavour; it was nothing to write home about. Interestingly, they offer gummy worms in paper bags to satisfy your sweet cravings.
Service was fast paced but friendly, and lines moved quickly. Some families hung around outside at the front benches to enjoy their gelato. We chose to take ours to go while we strolled through downtown Kingston. The gelato seemed to maintain form well enough to not melt quickly under the sun.
Randomly visited this place and I’m glad it happened. One of the best gelato stores I’ve been to. Lots of flavours and very friendly service. Kudos to the staff. Would definitely visit again.
Stopped by Kingston on our way to Montreal and had to try Mio Gelato even though it was cold and rainy (always a good time for ice cream). We grabbed the chocolate mint and the chocolate Skor flavoured gelato.
1) Chocolate Mint
I'm a huge fan of mint ice cream (not a lot of us out there) and it's different from chocolate mint. I enjoyed this one and the gelato was thick and flavourful. The hint of the mint was nice and not too much.
2) Chocolate Skor
I somehow enjoyed this gelato more than the chocolate mint one.
Maybe I should have gotten another flavour that's not chocolate. Maybe when I head to Montreal again. I would also want to try their sorbet and frozen yogurt.
You know the place is good if there is a long line up every time you try to get it. Same goes for this place. It’s always got a long line up whenever we tried to go. The store is adorable and the service is excellent. You do get to try your options before buying which is always a plus!
Not a lot of aces allow that with Covid these days so I was happy that they did. The price is decent and the choices are quite unique. There’s the fresh fruit sorbets and then the chocolates, nutty flavors. You have a variety to pick from. So definitely check it out when you’re visit Kingston.
It does seem a waste to get a cup when you want a cone as I never used the cup, I just threw it out. I get maybe they are trying to be unique but that’s a waste of money, energy and the environment.
We both enjoyed our Gelato. It’s great that they offer two flavours per serving. We enjoyed our combinations. It was definitely worth the short wait outside. We’ll be back when we are downtown.
Mio gelato has become an iconic must try with every visit to Kingston. Their servings are generous and rich in flavour. each serving contains two flavours. Featured in this photo is their Bacio Nutella and pralines and cream. When in doubt their pistachio is always a solid choice.
