Review Wok Inn Restaurant - Kelowna

Excellent soups! We haven’t tried every dish but the hot and sour soup is amazing and the wor wonton soup? Wow. Might not look like much from the street, but you’ll be well fed and satisfied.

This place is pretty good. Decent Chinese food and got my food quickly. Definitely under staffed though. Poor girl had 4 phones ringing and a line up.

We are from Ontario and enjoyed our dinner very much. I would recommend it to anyone. Great service too.

The best chow mein in Kelowna! So many veggies and the takeout portions are massive. Literally going back every week. Top level Asian food. Can’t beat it in this part of town. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

It's was extremely busy in the restaurant for pick up . They have a restaurant to sit and eat. The service was friendly and the food was fantastic. I would just say if your family is big eaters, order 1 size larger in family deals . I'd recommend this place hands down .

We pre ordered New Years Eve dinner via Skip the dishes. It took a lot longer than I ordered it for. But I expected that as it is New Years. We tipped our courier well being as he was stuck waiting too. But It all worked out. And boy was it ever good. I am not usually one to like chow mein, but theirs was amazing. Everything we ordered, I would order again. Just so good.

I recently ordered take-out from Wok Inn Restaurant in Kelowna and was extremely impressed with my experience. The food was delicious and arrived hot and fresh. The portions were generous and the flavors were authentic. I particularly enjoyed chicken chow mein, and the sweet and sour pork. I will definitely be ordering from here again in the future! Highly recommend for those looking for great take-out Chinese food in Kelowna.

Consistently good food time after time. Best value for Chinese in Kelowna with so many places raising prices so dramatically. We need to support these places that are trying to keep their prices low.

The best Chinese food I love the spicy squid & ginger beef ! Always fresh and large portions great service and fast delivery highly recommended

Great meal, good prices. Sweet and sour chicken balls are mostly chicken with a great thin layer of batter! English is a second language so our phone order turned out to be unfortunately almond chicken instead of lemon chicken. I'm allergic to nuts, so it left a lot for my wife to eat (2nd meal).

Food and service exceeded expectations. Just ordered take out from the restaurant and had to write that the food was excellent. We ordered Ginger Beef, Kung Pao Chicken and Singapore Noodles. The food was hot and tasted great and the chef uses zero trans fat and no hydrogenated oil. We will definitely order food here again.

Fresh and delicious Chinese food. Easy to choose between different dishes in the "Dinner for 4" and get something for everyone. Plus there's always leftovers!

I have had Chinese food from many many places, I used to live in Vancouver so unfortunately I have high standards. I thought I would try this new place so I ordered three dishes. I was a little nervous about trying a new place but I do not regret it. The three dishes were up to par and I would order here again. It's not the best place I've ever had but its a a great place for some local takeout. I really enjoy spring rolls and I order them everywhere I go, these ones the seasoning tasted unbalanced but I will defiantly try them again hopefully they will be better next time at $1.75 each. The other dishes were well made. Solid local take out.

A family-run restaurant situated in West Kelowna. After a four hour drive from Vancouver, we decided to stop by this place to have some Chinese food.

The portion was generous, and the lunch combos were worth the price. The fried rice and wonton soup were pretty delicious.

Attentive service!

May 19, 2017: Came again on a Friday night, tried two different items this time from last time. There wasn't anyone in the restaurant at the time(8pm) but they were super busy with takeout and delivery orders. So my suggestion is if you want to do takeout: call and order ahead instead of walking in and waiting.
What we had: Vegetable fried rice, Chinese vegetarian delight, Spicy squid and Singapore fried noodles (without pork). We hadn't tried the spicy squid or Singapore noodles here before and they were both really good! I don't really eat seafood anymore but I tried a bite of the spicy squid and it was yummy - lightly battered and fried tossed in a savoury seasoning and some chilli flakes. The Singapore noodles were yummy and flavourful. I forgot to ask for no egg since I don't eat it but i ate around it and was yummy and u would order it again. My fiancé really enjoyed both dishes and said he would order them again as well.
_________________________________________________
May 10, 2017: Ate here today for the first time. Was surprised when we walked in. Had been avoiding this place because of the exterior look, the strip it's in just looks old and dated. But anyway the interior looks like it's been updated and it was clean.
And they have large round tables, so they can accommodate big groups.
We ordered: veggie fried rice, Chinese vegetarian delight without tofu, and ma Po tofu without meat.
Was also really surprised by the food. The fried rice could have used more veggies but the seasoning and flavour was good - it had that smokey wok fried flavour and I enjoyed it.
I really liked the Chinese vegetarian delight, it had glass noodles, mixed veg and was in yummy sauce.
The ma Po tofu was good, too spicy for me but it'smy fiancées favourite dish and he lovessss spicy and he enjoyed this dish a lot.
Service was good, the girl was friendly and nice.
Will be back!
My suggestions would be: get rid of the purple chairs, maybe add some tall plants or something, get new signage made to attract new customers, ask the landlord to repaint the green exterior a different colour to make the strip look nicer and less dated, play some light music.

Our favourite Chinese restaurant.. Best Chinese food in Kelowna. The owner is now also doing the cooking again, and it's fantastic. There is no shortage of food and the quality is top notch.

Fantastic Food, Great Prices..... I recently ordered approx and very VERY large order with the Wok Inn Rutland and they were amazing. Over 100 people were fed hot food, good tasting food and all was done in a timely fashion. I havethe Wok Inn about once every 2-3 weeks and it may not look fancy but the food gets better every time. Thanks so much to the frontstaff and cooks at the Wok Inn Rutland...You did a wonderful job.

Got leftovers for takeout...... Ordered this meal for a birthday. There is no doubt that the food, which was picked up in the late afternoon, was leftover from days previous. It was a jumble of gummy mushy clumps of noodles, glued together vegetables and both dishes were dry and lacked flavour. The won-tons had no tails and looked like they had been cooked for days, the filling was salt and pork with no seasoning, and the broth tasted like salt water coloured with a bit of boullion cube. It was a very disappointing meal.
We have had delicious fresh food from this place before, but we will not be going back.

Easily the best chinese food in Kelowna. Fast, great service and so FLAVORFUL. i am tired of all the local chinese restaurants in Kelowna (and Calgary for that matter) and the chinese food that has all the taste of styrofoam. WOK INN is simply the best. their ginger beef is tender and soooo good. house special fried rice? THE BEST.

do yourself a FAVOR....go to the Wok Inn

Ordered here for the first time and was not to happy. The food was on time, hot and good amount though. It lacked a very good taste. The sweet and sour chicken was only the sauce and the meat with no vegetables. Everything was just ok. I really wanted very good food but the imperial garden down the street was closed for holidays so I tried the wok inn. I won't go there again.

Winner Winner Chicken Ball Dinner!. The Wok Inn could become my new favorite restaurant. My take out order was 23 min late when I arrived to pick it up, that's ok because that means when I received it it was warmer and fresher and was not sitting around. When I arrived home I noticed I did not get any fortune cookies! That's ok because none of my fortunes ever came true and reading that little piece of paper is such a let down. The food tasted like Chinese food and that's very important for the food to be Chinese.

2 for 2!. Got delivery here tonight, AWESOME food! And, it arrived less than 15 minutes after ordering, the driver was friendly. You want Chinese food in Rutland, call these guys.

-----21 Oct, 2012-----

1st Time. Tried this place tonight for the first time. Tasty! Rice was tasty, chicken was delicious, and vegetables were fresh! They did great on the basic stuff, we'll try them again.

MY Experience. I have never ate Spicy squid like you guys give to us. Also providing home delivery is another plus point. Wok Inn res. is near by me so sometime I skip cooking & go straight to my work place.

We went last night for the first time and we were excited about it. But when my friend asked about a combo for vegetarians she was told they couldn't do that by the server. She was willing to pay extra. We got up and went to Olympia.

Absolutely delicious. Fabulous service. Freshest fish and vegetables were just perfect. We also had spicy squid, and ginger beef. And it was all so tasty. I counted 7 staff members that either said hello, took our orders, brought us food and drinks. Best service. Thank you Wok Inn!

Worst Service in the Okanagan. Wok Inn has been a long time family favourite choice! I have never had a bad thing to say! Food is amazing and servings are very big and fresh!
I say this until i went to pick up my dinner i had ordered over the phone last night!!! Ten minutes before my shift was over i called and placed an order for a combo c. Lady on the phone said ten minutes. After work i went to pick up food ...the young lady working told me i had never called to place my order and that i must have ordered a combo c from wok box!! I am not stupid i told her i have the number in my phone that i called....further more wok box does not have the same combos wok inn has!!
I showed her my phone with her number and she told me i was lying. Then i asked her well then can she put my order in and i will wait the 10- 15 for it to be done. she REFUSED and told me to leave.
I had kept my cool until this point.
Never in my life have i been refused to order at a restuarant. I WILL NEVER RETURN!
Sad part is all i wanted was my combo c from my fav chinese food place

Inconsistent but still good. One of the better places in Kelowna for americanized Chinese food. Quality, freshness and portion size is clearly enhanced by eating in. Sometimes the food is inconsistent in terms of flavour and the ginger beef, which for me is the best in the town, can vary quite wildly in terms of sweetness, batter thickness and gingery-ness. Service is always prompt, pleasant and attentive. Overall a safe recommendation when you're craving deep-fried saucy goodness.

Where's the Beef??. Having ordered from the wok inn on one previous occasion with questionable reviews, I decided to give it one more shot. I ordered the beef with black bean hoping for some degree of meat as I had ordered a veggie dish as a side. The meat that was in the dish was of a chuck steak variety requiring numerous chews to break down this mystery meat in order to swallow it.

I also ordered curried prawns. There were, count em, half a dozen prawns in this twelve dollar entre. LOTS of celery!

On the whole, my experience at the Wok Inn, second time around, was a deal breaker. I will not spend fifty dollars on five dollars worth of vegtables. I wanted to put the numerous leftovers on my driveway with a free sign on them. They probably would not get taken. I FEEL TOTALLY RIPPED OFF!

Awesome!. I have eaten here several times and I loved thee food, always great tasting and always excellent customer service, I once found a small bone in my chicken balls, but when I pointed it out it was very quickly corrected, No one was rude and lets be honest people no one is perfect mistakes can be made. Again the food is ALWAYS delicious and the customer service is ALWAYS friendly. One of my fav places to eat :)

Consistent.. If you're a fan of the Wok Out in Glenmore, then you'll find the same taste and food quality here. This place and Wok Out is still (so far) one of my dining partners favourite places for Ginger Beef. My only complaint with our last dinging experience was the Almond Chicken. Some pieces were a little thin and got overcooked, which is fine. They sent a sauce for it in our take out order, that I'd like to tell you what it was, but to be honest I have no clue! It had a bit of a fish sauce and garlic taste, but the consistency of the sauce was that of mucus. Not very appetizing and didn't add anything to the meal! Fortunately the Almond Chicken was OK on it's own.

I wish them luck in their current location, as I can see parking becoming a real bugger for their customers.

As far as generic western Chinese food goes this is the best in town. Fast, friendly, the decor is lacking but I only ever get take out anyway.. They also have some semi-traditional dishes, the spicy squid was amazing. Fair prices, but beware of the bland won ton soup..

As far as Chinese food in town, so far has been the best I could find. Good value for the price. Lots othe typical chicken balls and ginger chicken. Would like to see more authentic food and less battered and fried.

Incident. There was an incident with a customer who ordered delivery and claimed that there was a chicken bone in her chicken balls which is rare. The process of making chicken balls is that each chicken breast is cut every half an inch and manually mix into the batter. It is unlikely that an inch long chicken bone would go unnoticed. It's not impossible but rarely does it ever happen. The restaurant owner did offer this customer credit for that entree which is reasonable yet the customer refused that offer and demanded their entire bill to be refunded. There had also been other complaints from this very same customer prior to this incident so hopefully she finds the right kind of restaurant she's seeking for. Wok Inn Restaurant would like every customer to have a good experience dinning with them and are always happy to help.

VERY GOOD!. A friend told me about this place I drive by it everyday and I would never be one to stop there as it is a dive. It is very good food and very nice people. so if you can look past the image its GREAT!

OMG. I ordered delivery from here tonight. I choked on an inch long piece of chicken bone in my sweet and sour chicken balls!! This was very sharp and I could have been seriously hurt. I called and was told that I was a LIAR! They said that they use white meat and that means its impossible to have bones. I explained that white meat has bones too and that obviously someone forgot to cut a piece of bone out. He said he didn't believe me, even after I offered to bring it in to show them. I said I would never be back and he told me He didn't care either way. I have never seen such crappy customer service in my life!! Will NEVER eat there again.

Good!. The take-out food and service was really good, shame about the decor and cleanliness.

Variable. There is a lack of good Chinese food in the Okanagan Valley and this is as close as it gets. However, the quality is very variable, even for the same dish. Definitely only for take-out; the ambiance is early greasy spoon.
Deep
Very traditional and filling... But must really like Chinese taste or you will not like the food
Justin
Good take out, not a good sit down and eat. MSG free, friendly staff.
