Very good place. I'd give it 4.5 if I could. Food was very tasty, servings nice and large. I will go back a second time for even a better sense of if they deserve 5 stars over 4! Tried a specialty cocktail, it was very creative and unique presentation. Bevie service was a little slow as the bar is not really set up for speed.
Service was great. The ambience is nice but I do find the table location/seating arrangement a bit unusual but not in any way that would stop me from going again.
I'm not sure about looking into a kitchen area that has 50 large plastic containers showing but I assume it's just part of the creativeness of this unique place.
Again I must state the food was very delicious.
I recently had the pleasure of dining at this restaurant and I must say, it was a delightful experience. To start, they offered small appetizers and refreshing juice, setting a pleasant tone for the meal. The standout dishes for me were the crispy fried tofu and the delectable honey garlic bread – both bursting with flavor and cooked to perfection.
We had a group reservation and didn’t know what to expect. What we got was a tasteful blend of Korean and Italian cuisine with tons of personality and flavour.
The staff were friendly and accommodating and the food was impeccable. I had the standard fries and tofu tossed in gochujang sauce for appetizer and the signature gnocchi fritti. But I think the standout was the braised pork belly with amazing barbecue sauce.
The gnocchi weren’t too large and the rosé sauce was rich and savoury and the pork belly was juicy and soft and packed a punch for flavour.
They were definitely a bit pricy compared to other restaurants but they definitely make up for it with the portion and the quality. I unfortunately didn’t get any cocktails but the presentation and spectacle was also very fun.
Highly recommend and would come back!
Delicious food and drinks with amazing service. The portion is huge so be aware. Everything was very tasty but! The tofu was the BEST.
We loved the bubble smoke gun! That was super fun!
Great food and very intimate. The portions are huge, so keep that in mind while ordering. A friend of mine ordered the salmon and was really disappointed with how overpowering the wasabi flavour was as it was in everything. They were very accommodating with it and allowed my friend to have another dish at no charge. I had the gnocchi fritti with the honey garlic bread, and I found the bread to be the star. A nice experience, and I would probably go again
Fantastic food! We started with the pumpkin salad and salmon ceviche.
The pumpkin salad was refreshing and the salmon ceviche was fresh, light and delicious.
Our mains were phenomenal, I thoroughly enjoyed the pork belly even though I ordered the pork shoulder (which was also very good)
Small details in the food presentation made our visit exceptionally memorable. This place is definitely one of our favorites.
Great service 👍 The server who was also from Vancouver was excellent. I was quite disappointed with the pork belly dish I ordered. The pork belly tasted like it was cooked in boiling water and the sauce was too overwhelming which covered the flavor of the meat. I will order something else the next time I visit there.
Gather is definitely your high-end sort of minimalist feeling restaurant. I felt similarities to a restaurant in Toronto, but on a smaller more intimate scale. You will be catered to very well at Gather.
I found the food and wine to be worth the cost. I ended up pairing a red wine with the soy soaked salmon. What I really appreciate about Gather is how full I felt after I left, so thank you for that.
What's fun is that you get to "play with your food" by choosing to mix the ingredients as you wish, as well as adding additional soy from a small bottle. What I would recommend though is maybe holding off on adding extra soy to the soy soaked salmon because it was bothering my stomach for the next hour later.
Here are my notes on the "Gather Poke Bowl, soy-cured"
Fresh and savory. I did add the provided additionally soy and wasabi which added a slight spice. Rice is different in color and tasty. Was told it's brown and white rice and it is sticky. Crunch of the lettuce with the soft textures of salmon give it a nice mouth feel. Very filling
Expectations beyond exceeded. From the warm and friendly greeting, surprise treats to start, the very courteous and happy server, the food… oh the food!!! And the sincere farewell, every moment was sheer perfection.
Service: top notch. From the greeter, sommelier, server, expediter, kitchen team… everyone appeared genuinely happy to be there ; and to see you.
Atmosphere: was not pretentious at all. Shared a laugh or ten w our server— who was incredibly professional, humble and attentive
Food: do yourself a favour and choose the Caesar salad. It set an incredibly high bar. Every component might start you off wondering how it works, but it does-expertly, leaving you quite dumbfounded on how you never thought of this combination before.
And the gnocchi frutti— that is one of those dishes that leaves you warm and tingly all over. So comforting, so simple yet so complex. My tastebuds have locked that dish into its memory.
Btw: cocktails are super fun. Hard to compete vs their 200+ choices of wine… and being in wine country, but wow; so tasty and hits the right senses and sensibilities!
Thanks for a wondering EXPERIENCE— not just a meal. Above impressed.
See you next time we are in town-1000%.
Service and atmosphere was welcoming. I ordered bibimbab bowl and carbonara pasta. All food taste good but I wish they give us more rice for bibimbab and more noodle for pasta. It tastes good but portion is pretty small.
