Review Match Eatery & Public House - Kamloops

First of all Thank you for the amazing hospitality. Service for us was great even with the huge crowd present. Nachos were just so amazing that I could not stop eating. Chicken was just ok ok and was quite plain which made me wonder that "anyone could make this". Sweet Chilli chicken was another hit and we loved the pork rinds on it. Sides for Nachos were pretty great too. $5 Burger was just amazing and loved that center piece fried chicken. Chips reminded me of Cassava chips but it was quite harder to eat. Fries weren't great especially when you put that buffallo sauce on it. If I wanted soggy fries, I'd order a normal fries from McDonald's. Dessert was so amazing that we badly wanted more. The combination of cheese cake with ginger snaps sort of base and coconut whipped cream top layer was really tasty. Item wasn't great when you think about the contents vs price but the credit is for the idea of that combination. But as I said before, many items reminded me the question - "Anyone could make this, right?". Tip: If you could ask to lower the volume of the performance person, it could really help your customers to feel more taste on their pallet. Maybe slower and calm songs might make the food more enjoyable for us. Thank you

This was an absolutely terrible experience and meal. This place is either spot on, or absolute garbage. It's ironic that it is located in a Casino because eating here is exactly like gambling. Could be good, could be terrible! After waiting nearly an hour for our food in a very empty restaurant, the food was not only sub-standard, but my Beef Dip was ice cold. After the Cesar salad substitution, the beef dip came out to just over $20. For the price, I would have expected significantly better. The Cesar salad was terrible - who puts balsamic reduction on a Cesar salad?! Fish and chips looked absolutely horrific (was told they were 'OK' but nothing special). The dry ribs looked absolutely pathetic, portion size was terrible for the $13 they cost. They were flavourless and lacked seasoning. Finally, the service was atrocious. The waitress was borderline rude, if not dismissive. We will not be back.

Bought the Turkey Dinner on skip the dishes. If I paid $22 for this and this was brought to my table, I'd have sent it back. Vegetables are barely cooked, turkey is dry, stuffing is worse than stovetop boxed stuffing, and there's no gravy. Worst turkey dinner I've ever had, I may as well just go to Dennys if that's the quality I'm going to get. Been on the road for two weeks and I was excited for a decent meal from a high rated restaurant. Tragically disappointed.

Frequent Match often when in town, there are many items on the menu that I enjoy, I especially really enjoy the Champagne Green Salad with Cajun Chicken Breast. I visited the location February 23rd to catch up with a friend and we had the most amazing service from our server Brooklyn. Only thing I would recommend is please up your game on the craft beer and seasonal beer selections.

Good food. We were here 3 nights for dinner with a group of 10-12. Very accommodating and decent prices.

A bit more than pub food. We were able to reserve a table for 6. Everyone enjoyed their meal. The service was great. For a pub experience in Kamloops, Match is 5 stars. We left after listening to some live music. Great night out.

Worst food I’ve ever tasted. I wish I could give it a zero. Burger patties were dry, crumbly and flavourless. Except for a slightly fishy taste…. 🤢Vile The bun was slightly burned yet soggy at the same time. The Caesar salad was in the same container so it was nice and warm, wilted and disgusting. The other side order was fries, well the half cup of oily, limp, undercooked potato grossness. Awful food, overpriced and not even edible. Would have sent it back but ordered delivery because of being stuck here with a broken leg. So disappointed! Do not waste your money.

Was in town for work on a one night stay. Came to Match Pub thirsty for beer and an empty stomach. Lucked out and waltzed in during happy hour and ½ price wings Thursday. Paced myself and indulged in a couple happy hour entrees, two servings of hot wings and 3 beer. Beer was fine and food met expectations (hot wings weren't hot enough for a psycho like me), service was at least on par but not noteworthy. Food took a little long but the place was on the busier end while I was there. Satisfactory experience and revisiting this place is not out of the question.

Very disappointed this time. Match has always been my go to place for excellent in-house beer battered fish & chips. Not anymore! Apparently, they decided it was taking too much time to prepare in-house so they bring it in already battered. Not as tasty. I also found a couple of small bones in my fish (good thing I didn't choke on them)! My fries looked & tasted like they'd been reheated in the microwave. The coleslaw had no flavour & was overdressed with sesame oil. After speaking to server, I was told the fries should never have left the kitchen in that condition. Too bad she didn't notice that when she brought them to our table, instead of offering new fries at the end of our meal. I suppose because we were using a coupon for our meals (buy one meal & get second lower-priced meal at no cost), they figured I got my meal for free, anyway. Even without any alcohol, our lunch cost slightly over $20, so still an expensive meal for one item. My friend's turkey sandwich was excellent though - no complaints. So, I suppose the lower-priced, free meal is also of much lower quality! I won't be eating there anymore. 😟

I arranged a surprise party for a friend. The Budweiser room was already booked, but on the day of our event, the other group cancelled, so we were put in the private room. What a fabulous setting. Our server...'Jekka'...sorry...not sure of spelling....was...'Over the top fabulous'. She was one of the best servers I've ever had. The food was delicious. Everyone had a great time. Thanks so much for this unforgettable experience.

Service was absolute crap. One of the waitresses dropped a cup of ketchup on my fiancé. It slid off the plate as she was putting it on the table and landed on my fiancé’s lap. Ketchup all over her jeans, her purse, my father in laws pants and also my mother in laws boots. I under stand shit happens but it’s how it’s dealt with that makes a restaurant stand out and above. The waitress apologized and brought over some napkins. When we asked her at the end of the meal if they could do something for us on our bill because of what happened the manager came over and said she can give us a coupon, we don’t live in town so that doesn’t work. We are encore members at the casino so we already get 10% off our food because of this, so the so called manager took off our discount and changed it to 15% after we had to argue with her about the 10% not being an applicable discount because we get it already. So she saved us an extra $3.00 on our bill and $1.23 on my in laws bill. Thanks a bunch for saving us $4.23 when your employee spilled on us and now we will have to get 2 pairs of pants and a pair of boots dry cleaned to get the stains out. Next time this happens at your restaurant maybe try comping something for the customer to offset the costs of getting clothing cleaned at the fault of your employees!! Will not be back and neither will my in laws or parents. Word of mouth spreads quick!! Definitely recommend going somewhere else in the area before stepping into this place.

Very poor service. Took over 20 minutes to even see our waitress then about the same amount of time to get our drinks. Ordered food right away as service was already slow. Half hour to get our food and she wasn't even sure if it was ours. Never asked if we wanted more drinks. Had to flag down another waitress to get our bill. Don't think we will be back or recommend to anyone.

Match Kamloops is a great environment with a stunning patio and great food specials. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Great food, great staff and servers, and the atmosphere is wonderful! Always lovely to sit out on the patio as well, beautiful view, definitely a must do for the summer! Definitely will be back very soon!

The service was so prompt and professional, Our server Emma was fabulous and so engaging. Will definitely be coming back. I loved the burger and beer combo and the food was absolutely delicious!

Always a fun stage to play on! The sound man is on point with any technical issues one may have, the staff is incredibly professional, the food is exceptional, and so far there isn't a better intimate venue in Kamloops that I've played. Well done!

The place is great however ordered a chicken burger wrapped in lettuce, came with two pieces of lettuce and an 1/8 piece of bacon. Go to Red Robin's to learn how to wrap a burger.

My husband and I had an excellent meal this evening! First time at this restaurant. The Hail Caesar, cheesy brew soup, chicken Alfredo and key lime pie were all exceptionally flavourful and beautifully presented. Our server was wonderful - she was quick to take our orders, checked our satisfaction several times and had a warm and lively personality! Thank you to the chefs and our server! You provided us with a very memorable experience - we WILL be back!
