Review Sushi Royal Tokyo - Kamloops

Their spider roll is very special! The crunch California roll surprised me, I love it so much! Very good service. I will definitely go back.

The lunch box was good. The tempura batter was not overwhelming and it was crunchy. The California roll was more delicious than the regular ones. My husband had sashimi lunch and he said it was very good. Daughter had sushi lunch, most of it was California roll which a little disappointing. Green tea was free, just like in Japan which was nice. It was a pricey option for lunch but coming from a city where good Japanese food is scarce, I think it was worth it. Parking was a little hard, we had to find parking at the road.

Amazing treasure of a place in Kamloops. Fresh food, delicious and great service. This is our new favorite place to go in downtown Kamloops for supper. They were even open on a holiday with full staff. 🤩🤩🤩

Love this place! The staff are polite and kind. The atmosphere is welcoming and calm. A great place to go for delicious, fresh sushi 🍣 It is always enjoyable to go to Sushi Royal Tokyo and then walk downtown Kamloops. Such a beautiful area with the twinkle lights in the evening and Riverside Park.

This was my go-to spot for AYCE sushi pre-covid. I went for brunch, and it was still the same amazing food I remember. Fresh, delicious fish, and some other pretty good hot foods. Of course, their price for whole day dinner menu went up a little bit: $26.95, but the food itself was still good quality, and they don't skimp on the fillings. They even put less rice than most other places. Bottom line, they are still a solid place for AYCE sushi and still probably the best in the neighborhood.

Amazing service, food took barely any time to arrive, and the sushi was great. Definitely recommend if you're in the area.

We visit many sushi restaurants. This was our least favorite. The rolls seemed poorly made, falling apart. The salmon nigiri, the salmon was crazy small. Unless this was a different style, we didn't enjoy it. Staff was very friendly, the food was good, just seemed not well put together.

We really enjoyed an authentic Japanese cuisine experience. Food was excellent, service was great and the price was reasonable. Definitely go back again

Ordered delivery from Skip the dishes, when my order came I thought they had forgotten half of my food until I realized that the portions were just extremely small. Miso soup was also barley half full and the fish did not taste super fresh. Save your money and go elsewhere, with so many other good Sushi restaurants in town, there is no reason to go here. See my pictures included, apparently that's $24 worth of Sushi.

What a joke! Who recommended this place? The sushi was paper thin and dishes were so small it felt like a child's tea party where we pretend to have lunch. Service was brutal, it got to the point where I would have waved my money in the air but thought twice because it would be rude but also it's doubtful they'd even notice. We ordered 16 pieces of sushi and got what totalled about half an ounce of fish with 2 cups of white rice, which she said we'd be billed for not finishing because it was the all-you-can-eat special. I upgraded to sashimi for an added fee and then noticed they give you a 5 item maximum, which is ridiculous when each one is 3 tiny pieces. The service was so slow and the restaurant was empty. The salmon was farmed. I don't think the owners are even Japanese. Bad!

Just ate their all u can eat last week, and being so curious about why people still going there. The service was terrible!! One of the Korean girl waitier( with a bit yellow hair) was so impolite and unamiable. I think she only consider service as handling the dishes and delivery the foods... no smiles...no greetings...just unhelpful!! I think restaurant is a typical kinds of service business which shouldn't only be focusing on taste, but also services. Their servers really need to get trained at least should teach them how to respect customers. The taste of food was fine, but their all u can eat has too many hidden rules which r just ridiculous! First, they try to charge you the extra 5 dollars per person due to wasting even customers just have a little pieces left. So my question is" can u know exactly how many pieces of food u gonna eat beforehand making the order?" We pick all u can eat because we wanna totally enjoy the food, but now we have to worry about the 5 dollars extra payments. The fish sashimi was terrible, the pieces were extremely small, and they usually delivery it at the end of the time for example when we received our fish sashimi we were already full. And please don't order any tempura on their all u can eat menu, they service a lot if potatos and sweet potatos ones with only one prawn, what's more ridiculous is u will be forced to eat them all otherwise u will be charged for that extra 5 dollars. That was the first time I went there, and definately won't go there again! Terrible place!

I'll be completely honest here. I used to love Royal Tokyo back when they first opened until maybe 4 months after that. They used to serve well, care about customers (kind of), and had lots to choose from both in lunch and dinner. Recently though (last time I went was last week), they have changed the menu so drastically that the things i used to order aren't there anymore. They also make numerous mistakes per visit. Example: I ordered a chicken yakisoba, they gave me veggie. Another example is, one time we finished our order and they brought us gyoza and springroll even though we didnt order it. They made a big deal about it but they saw on my sheet that I didnt in fact order them.

Another bad thing is the quality and quantity has changed. When you order crazy boy stuff, it usually comes with 4. Now it only comes with 3 despite it saying on the sheet that it comes with 4.

All in all, I'm pretty jaded when it comes to this place now. Only reason I go is because my gf and my little brother enjoys this place. If I had a choice, I'd spend it elsewhere such as Hoja or something. This place isn't even a real AYCE. They limit you to 3 sheets. Then they start treating you like shot after.

Only plus side to this place is the variety in their AYCE menu.

Tried every sushi joint but i have to say this place is one of the best. They are always fast. I went with my friend the other day and the price was reasonable and the food was plentiful. I would go there again.

Going Down Hill , Used to be the best when it opened. Has been awful lately. Small portion sizes. I always ask for wild salmon and they keep serving the farmed salmon crap.
All you can eat is a waste of time as it is so slow and they only bring you two or three pieces at a time. I dont have two hours to eat lunch guys.
Go back to the portion size you had when you opened and we all will be happy campers. :)

Good food and presentation. They have many options for the all you can eat. I personally like yakitori and fushiyaki BBQ and the crazy girl roll (dinner only tho), it taste soooo good! crunchy outside~ juicy(yakitori) and creamy(the crazy girl roll) inside. I also ordered their spider roll, the presentation was amazing! I would say they have the best all you can eat in town. However they probably need couple more tables cuz they r usually full in the lunch time, that's why i go there in the dinner time lol.

So so Sushi. The restaurant staff were so so on my visit to this restaurant. I found the presentation ok (I've had better here in town). Sushi was fresh, but their spicy rolls are overly sweet making them difficult to eat. Their tempura roll was overly greasey leaving me with an upset stomach. The Sashimi limits were boarding on the ridiculous. Portions were undersized requiring far too many orders & making for an overly long wait. I did like the decor & the location downtown was great (I suspect the latter will keep them in business longer than they would otherwise last).

Padding the bill. Ensure that you do not leave any food on the table when you order all you can eat - they do not share this advice when ordering - there will be a surprise $5 charge per person extra.

The best all-you-can-eat!. The waitress are always friendly and whenever a customer walked it, everyone including the kitchen welcome them. Our food came out very quick and everything was delicious. I'm not sure about the meals off the 'regular menu', but the all-you-can-eat was amazing. Thank you!

Bad service, bad food, warm beer. The normal menu items are not that bad and that's a generous statement, the 'not clear on the concept' all you can eat is a disaster. The "all you can eat" is full of hidden rules and they are keen on charging you extra for even the smallest of leftovers. The regular menu items are normal portions, if of low quality, the ayce was thin slices of low quality fish over lots of rice, thus presented as a blob, laughably tiny sized 'orders' and they don't bring you more, not even Agadashi Tofu or Gomae! Forget about more Shashimi one glob per person and the closer they get to closing the slower the service (if you can call it that) they 'forget' orders then claim you are too late to order more, or again, depending on what they let you have. Oh and they seemed baffled that beer should be served cold. I don't go to Irish run French restaurants nor should you go to a Korean run Japanese restaurant. I tried it twice with a total of 8 people, all agree, not going a again.

Awesome food! Probably the best place for sushi in Kamloops!

Poor Service. The first three times were great but last time the service was terrible, we kept having to ask for tea, napkins, wasabi, you name it, we needed to ask. At first we weren't upset the food was good, we weren't in a hurry. Towards the end of the meal we had literally two pieces of sushi left, a piece or two of chicken and some miso soup when the hostess walked over to us and said "I see a lot of food waste here" quite rudely. She actually interrupted our conversation to say this and we hadn't asked for the bill nor had we requested any more food, we were just lingering over the final bits and enjoying our dining experience. Honestly still shocked about the whole thing, it's not as though we ordered vast quantities of food in the first place, they apologised afterwards but with so many great sushi options in Kamloops I won't return to this one.

The chefs pour their heart and soul into this extraordinary sushi they make. The taste is unlike any other sushi place in Kamloops, and trust me, I have tastes sushi
From far and wide and this is absolutely high grade for a town like Kamloops being so far from the ocean. Super friendly, attentive and always smiling staff! I love you all there! Keep up the great work! All you can eat lunch
On Saturday is a ritual me and my sister share and find this time truly inspiring to be together. Thank you!

The Kamloops Daily News readers recently voted for Royal Tokyo as the best sushi restaurant in the city. With this in mind, and knowing that the readers are usually bang on with their choice, I decided to give them a try.
