Review Burger And Cafe Joy - Kamloops

I really enjoy the veggie burgers. Ordered Terayaki tofu and veggie croquettes. Highly recommended. Terayaki tofu is a bit saltier. Portion is small.

Restaurant was empty, so we sat at a table to wait for our ‘to go’ food for 10 minutes. We were just opening our containers to take a bite before we left, and were warned by staff member that the owner just paid a lot of money for the containers so had to leave and eat elsewhere. That he would be really mad if we ate in. We left and will never go back. Good burger though.

I used to come here as a kid with my baachan and jiichan since we loved their food. Apparently they have new owners, I’m not sure exactly when it switched over but I hadn’t been their in years but decided to go there yesterday with my mom. We had to be somewhere but she was starving so we stopped in for some food to take to go. We were told it would be a 10 minute wait which was fine since we weren’t in too much of a rush so we were given our drinks and sat down to wait. After waiting around 10 minutes, the woman that was working the counter brought our food over and walked back over to the counter. I knew my mom was really hungry so I asked if she wanted to take a bite before we headed out so we started opening our containers and right away the woman came up to us and said, “You ordered it to go so you can’t sit here anymore, you have to leave because ‘he’ (gesturing to the back so we assume the cook/owner) just put it into these expensive containers and he gets really mad if you stay after he packaged it”. I told her we didn’t plan to stay and we were just taking a bite before we left but apparently that isn’t allowed although we had been sitting their drinking our drinks. I would understand if they needed the space for other customers, however we were the only two people in there. We also payed when we ordered which is standard there and I tipped them 20% which I regret after them being so rude. I also want to add that the packaging wasn’t anything fancy, it was standard paper to go containers and if the cost of those damages their business so much then they should just charge us for them. I have never written a bad review before but this situation was just so odd that I felt the need to put it out here. The food was good but I don’t want to deal with those guys again. I have to say I am very saddened that this place has changed so much from my childhood.

Been coming here for years! Hands down one of the best places to eat in Kamloops if looking for Japanese style burgers. Every side dish is super yummy, especially their fries. Service is excellent!! Highly recommend!!

I’m so glad that we found Burger & Cafe Joy located inside the mall. They serve Asian-inspired burgers that look simple but are DELICIOUS 😋 I couldn’t resist ordering two: The Yakiso Burger: beef patty with Japanese-style stir fried noodles and egg (add-on) and The Oyster Burger: deep fried breaded oyster. Yum! We grabbed the take-out and headed to Riverside Park for a picnic—awesome! 😊

Just as good as my traveling companion claimed! The teriyaki egg burger was hot, fresh, delicious and delivered neatly wrapped in a timely fashion. I'll be back.

Very delicious, very affordable! The teriyaki egg is my favourite, but their fries with Wasabi mayo is awesome too.

So good! Chicken teriyaki Burger delicious, fresh and so different. The takayaki was a mind bend. Delicious but so weird. The stuff on the top was moving. Had to Google what it was afterwards. Octopus balls...now I know.

Honestly one of the best burgers I've had. Simple structure, but excellent flavours that come together perfectly. Plus the people working always have a smile! All around great experience and will recommend this spot to all of my friends!
