Review Main Street Restaurant - Ingonish

Good food and service. I stopped here after visiting the national park and it was very clear the restaurant was open. I visited at the end of May and some places at the time were closed. I really appreciated that this restaurant was clearly open. The restaurant is well maintained and spacious with high ceilings. We ordered halibut, mussels, and a seafood chowder. The food was good and satisfied our hunger. Portions are a good size.

Absolutely loved the food and our server. We came earlier to check the place and menu and the owner came to greet us and introduced himself. We came at 7 for dinner and it was pretty busy but it did not take long. I had the salmon and the crust was overcooked but I took the crust off and the salmon was really good after all. We also ordered the onion ring tower and that was perfection! The shrimp tacos were amazing and the clams as well.

A little late but the restaurant wanted to know my 1 star review I just left wasn’t fake so here we go. In June 2021 we stayed across the street at the Sky View Cottages which were excellent. Breakfast here was not excellent. My wife ordered avocado toast which I have to assume was just a blob of the store bought stuff (which is fine but not for the price they charge for it). My friend is a vegetarian and ordered her meal without bacon. First she received the wrong order which the server took back in a huff, then she received her order with bacon on it. When she mentioned this to the server, the server sighed and said “so do you want me to take this back too?” As it was during the pandemic, I know staffing was an issue, but the server was rude, unapologetic and the service was extremely slow. Our friends at the next table seemed to have better luck. The green smoothie my wife ordered was blue. The green smoothie our friend at the other table ordered was green. Just not a very good experience.

Very popular restaurant. French fryers are excellent, much better than other common restaurants.

Really enjoyed our food here. We had the fish tacos and the vegetable stir fry. Both were delicious. It was very busy for a Sunday evening and people were being turned away. The wait staff work very hard and are always on the go. It might mean service is a little slower but the hospitality was genuine.

Great food with lots of seafood options. We sat on the outdoor patio that has a view of the street, great place on a nice day but it can get dusty. It was a good lunch stop before the long drive back to Halifax

Fish and shrimp tacos are delicious! Breakfast is standard, overall well rounded menu. For non fish eaters, chicken fingers are delicious.
