It was last Friday I and my friends looking for an indian restaurant to have dinner. We didn't know what to expect. We'd never been to Hamilton before, but we didn't want to eat at any expensive chain of restaurant. We wanted something amazing. On the outside, it wasn't particularly striking. The sandwich board listed the dinner specials, but it didn't do justice to what lay below. We searched on internet and found a restaurant named “Sagarmatha”Upon entering we found ourselves in a small place. It was clearly decorated. It had a very Indian/Himalayan look to it. It was neat and clean. The tables were well maintained, though it's apparent it's a very small operation. We were greeted very well and took a table toward the back. We were brought menus and a jug of water. It raised our expectations. If we're getting a jug of water, it's probably going to be spicy! The menu had lots of choices, and even combos so we got confused. The staff over there helped us a lot to choose better dishes. The combos are a great deal. A perfect portion. . The food takes a while to come out, but it's completely worth the wait. The food was as amazingly delicious as it was, the 5 stars would .The stars are given for the food alone. I had a Fish tikka Combo. The fish was seasoned to perfection. The rice was light and complemented the fish beautifully. The pakora was delicious - first time trying. Also The Chilly chicken wow... it was spicy! But oh so damn friggin' delicious! The Naan was prepared well and with the chana masalaa, tasted delicious. I too ordered a Himalaya platter it included shrimp, chicken tikka ,malai tikka, sher kabab lamb ,shree kabab chicken and fish tikka it was outstanding .The food was too tasty that we praised the food in all our way to home.I normally don't get dessert, but I was blown away. I ordered Ras Malai just thinking about it is making me drool over my keyboard. It was so soft and moist - excellent, consistent texture. The milky syrup was sweet but not overly. Just a perfect way to end the meal. My husband ordered the Chicken Tikka combo. Similar food on the plate but different preparation for the chicken. He too was in foodie heaven. He made an mistake. He ate his all food first and he forgot have the taste of salad along with food.I told him after, you should've eaten the salad with Chnaa masala. For dessert he got a Mango Lassi. I'm normally not a fan of mango but I tried a couple of sips. It was fantastic. Very nice texture. He clearly enjoyed himself. Even a month later, he is still talking about it.
I strongly recommended this place to visit and by sure you will become regular customer there.
Most of time I go to this restaurant with my friends because here staff is very supportive and food is also excellent. Here we got every kinds of curries. so I recommend to all to visit there. I am giving full ratings as it is best restaurant in Hamilton
Food is very delicious and tasty but the place is a run down basement. The place is noisy as the acoustics are not probably done. Wait times are long. The prices are reasonable.

The best butter chicken I have ever had! All of their food is absolutely amazing. The service is also great very friendly. Great environment, one of the best places to eat in Hamilton
Wow! First time trying this gem. And it is fantastic!! I got the butter chicken and a spinach/paneer dish with naan, steamed rice and samosas. I really really enjoyed the two dishes I got. The flavour was outstanding! I will 100% be returning here to sample more of the delicious menu. I got take out so I can't comment on the dining in experience. But the food was amazeballs! I do think Mahal restaurant has better samosas and naan as well as steamed rice (I had to take a star off for the steamed rice because it was overcooked with too much moisture and the naan was a tiny little portion that was quite pathetic for the price) but everything else was an absolute pleasure to eat.
I highly recommend giving this place a try if you enjoy Indian food.
This restaurant has authentic and great food! However, it had a small space for seating its patrons down to eat. It would have been much nicer if they did.
Plan on 2-3 hours to eat a meal here. We have been here numerous times, and have never gotten the food in under 60 minutes. Last time, there were 4 of us, we ordered a lot, and it took 70 minutes for the food to arrive. But when it did, WOW, the BEST Indian food I have ever had. I really cant say enough about this place when it comes to the quality of the food. Service? Timing? Terrible. But if you can get past that, its SOOO worth the wait. Come ready to Converse with friends. Last time, we brought 2 bottles of wine, and it solved the drink service issue, and only cost us the $10 corking fees.
Fantastic Indian cuisine. The staff was friendly and our meals came quickly, unlike the experiences some other reviewers had.
We ordered the "Samsosa Chat" to start.. Simply sublime. The combination of the warm samosa topped with the cool yogurt and spicy sauces created a perfect blend for the tastes, highly recommended.
Next was the coconut lamb and paneer, both extremely delicious with the latter having a much more polarizing taste. We also ordered Both regular and garlic naan as well as rice. The garlic naan was the better of the naans, once again, highly recommended.
All in all a delicious dinner, the menu is very large and comprehensive, we will be returning to trying more items soon!
Great food, sometimes a bit of wait. Love ordering out from this place. Grab a beer upstairs at the Baltimore House while I wait. Never taken longer than a slow pint. Worth whatever delays people have written about on here.
Best Curry in the City.. I can't get enough of this place.
We'll typically order three or four dishes each time and I haven't been disappointed with one.
We'll usually order at least one new dish every time we go. My new favorite is the chili chicken. Diced chunks of chicken cooked in a spicy sauce with green peppers, onions, ginger and Himalayan spices. It's so far the best thing on the menu and I plan on getting it every time. The tandoori fish was also amazing. Simple dish. Fish baked in a clay oven. I burnt my mouth on it several times but it was so good I didn't care.
The service is typically good. Water is always refilled and the server is friendly. The food does take a while to prepare, which doesn't bother me since it's always done so well.
P.S I didn't know what naan bread was supposed to taste like until I ate came to Sagarmatha
Delicious Food. We went on a Friday night. The restaurant was not busy however it took us 10 minutes to get a table from the server. We ordered our food and were super impressed when it came out. The portions were very large and we had enough for our lunch the next day. We will definitely be going back again!
Hidden gem!. Great food and service! Must try the butter chicken, naan bread and samosas. Don't be in a rush when you go here, there isn't many staff..the owner does most of the work himself. Definitely a must try!!
Great food, great service. The naan was the best part.
VERY DELICIOUS. Great cho.... VERY DELICIOUS.
Great choices great spices. NOT a fast food place so bring some intelligent conversation. (worth the wait) Everything is fresh and authentic. I will be back.
Fabulous food ! Service was a little slow but it was worth the wait I will return and recommend to others
Great food, friendly service. This place is one of Hamilton's gems! Their food is fantastic, and the staff are always friendly. It's always a great place to come and relax with friends.
If you're looking for "fast food" go to McDonalds.
Very Nice. We had a korma with Chicken and the lunch special with lamb. Both were very good. Great value, will be back again soon!
FYI - the changed their name but its the same ownership
I live this restaurant. The prices are great and the food is delicious. My favourite place to get Indian food! My favourite menu item is the murgh malai tikka. The chicken is so tender and so well flavored. You have to try this place!
So effing delicious. This is by far the best effing place ive ever gotten delivery from in hamilton BY FAR (correction tie that with hillbilly heaven, but you can't really compare barbecue to indian cuisine they're on different taste frequencies) and ive been getting delivery since first year undergrad im FOURTH YEAR now omg so good and i am all about the food, too. if you're all about the food my god order from here im eating it as i speak and made an account on this site just to say this; if the owners read this RESPECTS to u guys!
Very good. Best Curry dip I've ever had, it had lentils, red beans and just was perfect with the extra excellent garlic naan bread they had.
Recommended !!!!
Great food!. We ordered the butter chicken, mixed vegetable curry and naan. Portions were good, and the taste was great! Food was served fast, and service was good. Will definitely return to try more stuff on the menu! ;)
Amazing!. The food and the price are both awesome. My boyfriend and I go about once or twice a month. We find ourselves craving the food. The owner is very friendly. Our favourite restaurant by far! Its a must try
BEST Indian Restaurant in Hamilton!. The food was fabulous! Since moving to Hamilton 4 years ago, my husband and I have been searching for a good Indian restaurant that has good take-out as well. My husband is of Indian decent so he is hard to please when it comes to Indian take-out.
We ordered a lot to taste a variety of dishes and all of them were superb. We had ordered a fish masala and the fish was extremely fresh and not overcooked. The butter chicken was great and so were the pakoras. Even the tamarind chutney was sooo good!
I would definitely recommend this place to anyone. I don't know what the inside looks like because my husband picked up the food but I we will certainly go back. YUM YUM YUM!
My wife and I visited for the first time a few nights ago. Very impressed! Food was fantastic, fresh and hot. Service was prompt and friendly and the prices were resonable. Will most definitely be back!
AMAZING food!!! I would definately come here again anf again!
Excellent Food. I've been a couple of times now and have really enjoyed the food. Really enjoyed Tama Boodi, a Himalayan dish I'd never tried before. Also really like the Himalaya soup.
Fresh and Flavourful!. Had the pappadums, veg samosas, lamb saag and rice, and one of the best naans I've ever had! Pappadums were light and crunchy and fresh, the samosas had a nice bite and unique presentation (they looked like fat doves!), and the flavour of the lamb saag was amazing. Very thoughtful and friendly service, and great prices. Conveniently located near my work, I am sure to return.
Indian Jewel. I spend a few months of every year in SE Asia and Indian food is always high on my "must eat" list. I don't expect much in Hamilton when I return, but FLAVOUR of HIMALAYA is the closest I have come to excellent Indian food in this area. What a treat!
Last night I enjoyed Chicken Tikka Masala with Pulao Rice, Mango Chutney, Vegetable Raita, and Garlic Naan. With the first bite I was transported back to the little restaurants of Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia ....
The flavours of every dish were well balanced and properly spiced; nothing bland and boring or overly "Americanized". This is authentic taste. But it's NOT too hot, either, for those who are afraid of spice and heat.
I will be back again and again and happily bring my friends who have never enjoyed Indian cuisine. The prices are fair and reasonable and the service is pleasant and caring. I'm happy to have such a little jewel in Hamilton.
Work nearby, eat here regularly. Favorite Indian food in town, excellent food quality and flavours.
