Reviews East Side Mario's Hamilton

Good service, great food. Especially love their salad and bread. It keeps me coming back. I miss some of the items that used to be offered on their old menu.

We had an opportunity to get together for dinner with friends in Hamilton, and East Side Mario’s was chosen as the meeting place. The restaurant was starting to fill up, but our friends already had a table when we got there.

We started out with their hot, fresh-baked Garlic Bread, which is a nice treat. Then we shared an order of the Zucchini Fritti from the Starters menu. The zucchini was sliced into long, very thin pieces, then lightly breaded and deep fried. It was served with a dip that was similar the a tartar sauce. Enjoyable bites that were a bit crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and the dip added a pleasant tang. Also, we each had one of the standard ESM salads, with the majority opting for the Caesar. Good, fresh salad, with some fresh grated Parmesan cheese added table-side.

Then it was on to the main course. SWMBO selected the Chicken Parmigiana. The two pieces of chicken breast had a fairly heavy coating of breadcrumbs, which kept the juices in during the deep fry, so the chicken was still reasonably tender. The cutlets were topped with zesty tomato sauce and melted mozzarella. SWMBO felt that there could have been a bit more sauce on the chicken.

I chose the Portobello Mushroom Parmigiana. Two huge mushroom caps, breaded, deep fried, and topped with same sauce and cheese that SWMBO had on her dish. The mushrooms were really “meaty” and tasty. I too thought that the main event on the plate should have had more sauce, so I used some of the sauce on my side of spaghetti as a dip for my mushrooms.

Service was pleasant and friendly; no complaints.
