Review Red Crow Coffee - Hamilton

Topaz Goold
Every time I drop in the service is warm and friendly, the hot drinks are divine and so are the paninis. It’s hard to find parking, so walk or cycle over instead. The boast about the hand drawn espresso is not an overstatement. Delicious!

Just had lunch there. I had come here before but hadn't paid much attention to it, I was still new to the city. Second time around though, I noticed it's just super nice. The desserts are yummy as hell, the food is good, the coffee is good too (and when they tell you it's a large coffee, it's a LARGE coffee). And in true pride month spirit where I'm making the conscious but terrifying effort to use my chosen name in public, the barista (who I'm assuming is the owner) did not bat an eyelash. Hamilton in general is good like that I think

Came here for a friendly catch-up with a friend and I had a great Redeye Coffee. I only have coffee once a week or so and this was very smooth, perfect for my day off. I also got a cream cheese drop carrot muffin. Twas' alright. I didn't pay for my food and drink so I can't comment on that. The environment and atmosphere was very laid back and felt very cozy and at home here. Good customer service. I'd come here again and recommend you do if you're in the area.

Amazing place. It's a place you go to read a book or catch up with friends. The prices are excellent and not overpriced like a lot of coffee shops. The food is excellent and the girl by the counter welcomed us with so much warmth that I will be a regular at this place.

Nice comfortable cozy cafe with yummy baked goods.....cash only....hot or cold teas, coffee, smoothies and much more. Healthy light lunch sandwiches, soups and salads...opens early for unique breakfast offerings and features a special weekend brunch menu...friendly staff..try their cream cheese carrot cake! Healthy food at very reasonable prices. Orde at the counter. Take out or eat in.

Was walking to an Ultrasound this morning and saw this small coffee shop, stopped in for a bottle of water and the owner was SO sweet. Gave me a bottle of water on him, and had the sweetest old dog who came right up and greeted me for love and pets. I left smiling in hopes to go back for a bite to eat very soon! These are the types of businesses we need in communities. Absolutely loved my short visit with them. ♡ Thanks guys!

Sweet staff and cozy atmosphere. I was there for brunch and their specialty eggs benny is something. Be aware that it's cash only. If you have not been there before you should visit it at least once!

Edit 8 May 2022 Ive seen a for lease sign in the windows for the last few weeks. Im sorry to see those. I was hoping for the last year or so they would eventually open. Good luck to the owner and previous staff, always enjoyed coming in here. Friendly staff and owner. Always nice to me

one owner is great, but the other is an abusive jerk! couldn't handle getting me a plain, untoasted bagel. Insisted on toasting and putting cream cheese on it. Was very rude to me, and wouldn't listen, and just nutso. Awful.

I have no idea why there are so many bad/negative reviews here - all the reviews on yelp are great, I think the people of zomato are just bitter. This is by far the best local coffee shop I have encountered in Hamilton (or well anywhere for that matter). The coffee is always great and the service is perfect! In addition, their brunch specials on the weekend are the best I've ever encountered and they rival any other restaurant in the downtown area! I enjoy going here whether it is just for a coffee or if I'm hungry for some breakfast/brunch. It is nice to see such a unique cafe and I hope it continues to be successful as I quite enjoy having it here in the area!

Red Crow Rocks. Walter and the staff are incredibly friendly and the lattes and sandwiches are delicious.
Walter even took the time to explain the history of some of the drinks to me (how an Americanno came to be)
Don't believe the bad reviews, try the place yourself!

Great California Benny. They have the most spectacular California Benny! Like eggs benedict but with guacamole and citrus salsa. I love it!

Take a look at your competitors and decide for yourself if you've been review bombed. Take it seriously.
You've got a great location, great product, great atmosphere. Someone out there wanted your brand
and space.

Look out.

Team Red Crow. Didn't come on here to specifically leave this but since I see a lot of negative reviews let me just say I am one of the regulars Walter V is speaking about and I must say I love Red Crow. I love the atmosphere (the coziest!), the employees (the friendliest!) and food (the most delicious!) and especially the coffee (addicted!)! Have I seen the owner be rude before? Yes. Did the person he was being rude deserve it? Most likely. Does it make it right? Probably not, but whatever - don't be an a-hole (the kind who goes out of their way to make negative reviews online after visiting a place once) and maybe you'd get to experience what the rest of us RC devotees enjoy. Red Crow rocks!!!

Wha??. I don't know why Red Crow is getting such nasty reviews... don't listen to them! The coffee is amazing, the food is fresh and fantastic... perhaps not at the speed of your generic, tasteless Tim Horton's... but that's not what you should expect when you walk through the door anyway. A lovely, independent coffee house, great atmosphere... an absolute gem! I've had many conversations with the owner and have always left feeling as though I've received great customer service.

Was going to try but probably won't now.... My husband and I had been fixing to try this place because of an article we saw in the view magazine. After hearing feedback and reviews online and otherwise, I think we will steer clear. The recent poor reviews are bad enough, then you seem to have the owner, I am assuming, (Walter V.?) showing poor taste in customer service. He seemingly is just not focused on the customer experience or able to take criticism gracefully. It shows poor business etiquette and I for one would rather avoid a business that treats customers this way. Too bad cause we LOVE coffee.....

DO NOT EAT/WORK HERE....EVER.. My boyfriend and I live close by and we go to this coffee shop when we are really desperate for coffee. Their coffee is incredibly watered down. The owners are absolutely rude and unwelcoming. I work at a call center and have encountered many rude arrogant people but nothing near how arrogant the owner is. I saw a posting online for a part-time position awhile back when I was not aware of how crappy this place was run, and the barista politely informed me that they just filled a position. She suggested that I meet the owner (who was standing at the side, drinking coffee) so I went over to introduce myself. In a very rude and condescending tone, told me it was a stupid idea to have come in and inquire about a job post at 1:30 pm. There was NOBODY in there, completely dead and I was completely shocked at how unwelcoming he was regarding a job inquiry!?
He lost two customers today, and apparently losing more and more by the day because word is spreading fast that this place SUCKS!

Not worth your money, or your mind at ALL!!!!

Owner is rude!!! coffee tastes like it is watered down, wait time is long if you are ordering food..... Would not go back...walk further down James street and save some money..there are better coffee shops out there

Poor customer service, poor media representation. Every time I go into Red Crow Coffee, the coffee is mediocre and the owners are petty and rude. I even overheard one of the owners make a very inappropriate comment to a customer.
They do not know how to take criticism and lash back at you if you have a complaint. I see them get into arguments on the internet and they seem like very rude and sarcastic people. The way they have responded to some of the reviews on urban spoon proves my point.
I get a really negative vibe from this place. Not the kind of place I want to support.

No decaf coffee? Really? The service is mediocre. The coffee and cake special starts at 3pm, but it's not stated on the sign board. Used to be a good place, but as others have pointed out, it is now a crap place.

Great, comfortable, friendly. Every time I go to Red Crow I'm greeted with the friendliest staff and offered new suggestions and specials on the menu. I especially love breakfast, their sandwiches and the fact that they serve gluten-free toast, and almond milk with their tea or smoothies. They have a great variety of teas and coffees and I wouldn't ever choose a Tim Hortons if I was in the area. More so, their decor is wonderful and cozy - great for sitting with friends or with a good book. 10/10 :)

Still the same dorm room fare. Poached egg, english muffin... Yawn

-----31 Aug, 2013-----

To clarify: Re: your long winded anal reply... Only the "great dane" was available too me and my friend. Fairly sure that means one sandwich.
Can't wait till your business fails. ( no yuppie parking) :)

-----28 Jul, 2013-----

Meh. pretentious--. Coffee was okay.

I have been here 2x and each time they only have the one sandwich available???
I was with my friend, he works in construction. YOU might have better service if your a well dressed yuppie... let em know :)

A Great Experience!. I wouldn't normally rave about a bagel but after years of being semi-satisfied by Tim Horton's and Starbucks bagels I have found my new home! The sundried tomatoe bagel with cream cheese I got was absolutely perfect in everyway !
The service was great, and the atmosphere splendidly homey and relaxing, I will definitely return!

Friendly and accommodating. Excellent eggs Benny. Got takeout for my mom who is at St Joe's. She was refusing to eat hospital but raved about the eggs.

Red Crow Coffee is everything you want a local cafe to be. A great, wide variety of music, fantastic food, good coffee and a friendly atmosphere. I highly reccomend the "Great Dane" sandwich, and a latte to complement it perfectly.
Katma
Friendly staff with great service. They make good expresso including flat whites for the Aussies!

Another welcome addition to coffee cafe in Hamilton. I've been urged by friends to visit the Red Crow. Today I enjoyed a toothsome Panini on gluten-free bread. It was delicious as was the light roast coffee. Staff and owners are friendly, the decor is cosy 'shabby chic' with three distinct sitting areas within one narrow area: a window area overlooking the street, a 'conversation' space with assorted interesting chairs and a rear part where one can relax on a couch. Food is in the cheaper range for coffee cafes. Next brunch I'll have the mushroomy eggs Benedict. There is a wide selection of teas, cold drinks besides the Red Crow's excellent coffee. Love the name and the painting that inspired it - look for it above the kitchen entrance.

The best cafe in Hamilton. I've been to just about every cafe in Hamilton, and I must say this is one scores the best in my books. Cozy feel, good music, excellent staff, great coffee. The owners make you feel at home and are some of the nicest people I've met. The wifi is always working.
The food is fantastic and at a great price. The best Brunch item is the Benny California (Poached eggs with guacamole and citrus salsa), absolutely heavenly combination.
Everyone I've recommended the red crow to loves it! A Hamilton gem for sure.

Red Crow is family comfort. It is a place of stability, a place you can feel comfortable. They have an array of various, mostly retro, seating to make you feel even more comfortable in their cafe! Whatever suits your mood, they’ve got it. You can find regular cafe tables and chairs, cushy couches, and bar stools at a big front window.

I hope this place survives and makes a name for itself. It has all the potential in the world, has a beautiful building and location and has a menu that will keep the locals and visitors happy. I’ll come back next time maybe for just a coffee and biscotti and chat with a girlfriend I haven’t seen in a long time. Maybe our voices will fill the mostly empty room next time?!

Went to Red Crow with my son Tom for their Brunch and a coffee. He had been here before and suggested we try their brunch. It included a selection of omelettes, so we both selected their mushroom and potato omelette. We were going to order an americano coffee, but Bob at the counter suggested we try their Red Crow version. It was very strong and satisfying version that was just the way Tom and I like our coffee. The Brunch selections were written in a blackboard, and today the omelette selection was $5! It was accompanied by a nice salad, watermelon, and a multigrain toast. It was a tasty brunch that was not greasy, but very tasty and good value for $5. There are a variety of seating choices and it was quite full on a Victoria Day holiday Monday. We sat at a bar table at the front window overlooking James Street South. The inside is typical of many independent cof
