Review Pokeh - Hamilton

Ashley Abraham
The seating is small but the food transports. It brought beachy, fresh vibes even in the middle of Winter. Prices are fair considering the fresh ingredients are not cheap! Expect a fishy smell when you walk-in but to me that's the sign of a great place to eat pokeh!

My favourite lunch treat. Fast and fresh, such a unique and healthy option. It's been described to me as sushi in a bowl, and that isn't far off, it's delicious! Staff are friendly. Place is small -- though you could eat inside, have some alternative options planned as there are only three wall seats (the escarpment brow with park benches is a very short walk away, definitely an awesome view). The food is tasty, cold if you get cucumber noodles and warm if you order a rice option. Near to the Wentworth Stairs, mountain brow trail and Sam Lawrence Park (Jolley Cut) it would be a good fitness food refuel stop. Cost is probably in the $$ level with respect to portion. A fast healthy option on the street, with a unique menu and trendy vibe.

Super friendly staff, helped me recreate a dish they served at a food show. Delicious! A little pricey but great tasting! And quick as well. Can't dine in with a big group as the space is limited. Super fresh.

Very flavourful, love the cucumber noodle option as a base. Staff was super friendly and willing to explain different options and customizations and work with dietary preferences and restrictions. Will definitely visit again when back in town!

Always quick whether there is a line or not; the bowls are definitely worth it. You can choose different fish (or tofu) protein and different toppings in your bowl. The prices are fair and the staff are friendly.

My first time trying Pokeh was at their farmers market location. I went withone of their signature bowls. The tuna was very fresh!! It was absolutely delicious. Their staff is very friendly. Highly recommend.

Absolutely delicious! I did not try this restaurant at the farmers market so I was not sure what to expect when they moved up the hill. The poke is fresh, customizable and filled with flavour. The spicy bowl with avocado is my new go-to, however they have a number of options. Friendly staff. Not really a lot of seating. Probably best enjoyed at home.

When the food is so good you eat it in your car as soon as you get it! and it is ALWAYS stellar. Great portion options, the most balanced flavour profile and every ingredient just thoughtfully prepared. I love the signature. I mean the onions are diced so finely and perfectly. The flavour and warmth of the rice. #respect If I had to back only 1 restaurant during lockdown and beyond... it would be 💯Pokeh (Uptown).

Salar Madadi has launched a modern concept that is high quality, fresh ingredients in a bowl! The portion may be deceiving, but the large size is filling! So many options in proteins, bottom can be white, brown, cucumber noodles or a combo! Come and support a blooming business that supports the neighbourhood and provides employment for locals.

It’s so delicious and fresh! Can’t believe it’s taken me this long to eat here! So healthy too! My new favourite spot!

I finally had a chance to pop in, and I'm so happy I did! I think I'm officially hooked. <3 Added bonus: I met up with an old friend who decided to try Pokeh on Concession Street for the first time, same as me. I found out that his band is playing locally on a regular basis! Great food, great music, great friends, fun times! Thank You!

Places like this based on a dream are always fulfilling on a special level. I hope it remains true to its roots, I'll be back.

It was fantastic.

Brilliant as usual especially now that its more convenient to get <3 The only thing I'd ever like to see them change is the way they cut the jicama (such a small thing ain't it) not a fan of the chunks I prefer it in slivers or matchsticks like the carrots :)
