Review Cima Enoteca - Hamilton

Andrea Boyko
The service was fantastic. The food was equally delicious. I was hoping for gnocchi but they don’t offer it daily. We had grilled calamari and rice balls for appetizers and bistecca and stuffed vegetables for the main course. The steak was 15oz so I’m glad I only ordered a small dish. The environment was not at all what I expected as I thought it was a five star restaurant which would attract adults. This appears to be a family restaurant and most tables were full of young children. This was surprising in this type of restaurant. I don’t think I want to return to this place as the volume of the children surrounding us was too much for me. I would expect this at somewhere like a family restaurant but not at an upscale Italian restaurant such as this. Perhaps I would return and eat outside on the patio for a relaxing supper.

We had the Hawaiian pizza and the spicy meat pizza (can't remember what it was called). Pizza was delicious. Great service. Amazing atmosphere. The wine glasses are so clean they almost feel soft. Great place. Will definitely be back.

Great ambience and service! Loved this restaurant... We sat outside on the patio and had plenty of space. The ambience is warm and lively with a great selection of music. Service was top notch; our server was very nice and courteous and food came out quickly and timely. Food-wise, they have weekly specials so there's something new to look forward to if you're a regular. All of the food is on the salty side but nice depth of flavour overall. Presentation, serving sizes, and pricing are great and would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Food is great. An italian fare eatery with great service and prices. Very affordable family restaurant. Kids are welcome. Didnt see a kid menu but sharing the adult one would be awesome. Great ribeye and calamari. Very nice wine menu.

My friends and I came to this restaurant the other day. They have a lovely patio set up, really great service and absolutely loved all the food we ordered. The only dish we weren’t big fans of was the meringue dessert (didn’t like the basil combination). We ordered: rice balls, bread and butter, grilled calamari, cima pizza (no meat), lamb skewers, asparagus and a bunch more it was all great!! Definitely recommend.

Had such a wonderful dinner tonight at CIMA, grilled calamari, lamb skewers, bolognese, plater with fried artichokes and a chickpea salad topped off with tiramisu. Such a great experience for our 5yr wedding anniversary. The staff were so friendly loved our server she was so lovely and a guy server kept checking on us as he passed by. The head chef jordan is a true artist in his craft. Love this restaurant 10/10 for food and for overall dinning experience. Well done! 🤩😍😋👍🙌

Had a great meal with friends here. Inviting atmosphere, kind and prompt staff and incredible food. Parking isn’t the easiest in this location, but there are a few spots if you circle around or park on the side streets. Will definitely return. We enjoyed a few different pasta dishes and tasty desserts.

Uh oh, new favourite restaurant alert! We went there with a group 8 friends for my birthday last night. It was definitely worth the wait. The pizza was perfect and the gnocchi tasted like my Nonna was back there in the kitchen making it fresh for us. I'm in love with this place, we can't wait to go back!

Excellent food, beautiful plates. Long wait! Could be a 5 star if: the wait time expectation is at least somewhat realistic. The bright kitchen lights are a bit of an ambience killer. Serving staff are thouroughly enjoyable and enthusiastic. The Cioppino is the best!

WILL NOT GO BACK I live a 5 minute walk to this new Italian restaurant on Locke Street and I was looking forward to trying it. I love pasta! My boyfriend and I walked there on a lovely evening and were seated at an extremely tiny table for two. Our waitress was lovely (I think she was the only non-blonde and she had glasses). Unfortunately, things went downhill from there. We were smart enough to just order the tap water as we were offered sparkling water (in a bottle) that I see from another review was $6.50. They don't have a bottle of wine on their menu under $45 and I'm sorry and I don't want to be too cheap but usually there are some options in the $30ish range that are half decent. So we decided to have beer, their choices are very limited and we opted for Peroni as it is the most domestic tasting (sorry I like domestic beer!). Anyway, I forgot it was in a very small bottle - yup $8.00 each!! We started with the bread and olive appetizer. The bread was nice but the olives didn't have any bite, I must say they were the most boring olives I've eaten. The oil and balsamic dipping sauce was horrific, I don't know what oil they used but to me it tasted like it should go into a car! My boyfriend ordered the rigatoni with spicy sausage and I ordered a pasta which said it had basil in it - I LOVE fresh basil. Well, the rigatoni was so dry (lacking in sauce you could barely see it on there) and my pasta had no basil at all. Unfortunately my boyfriend didn't ask for more sauce and suffered through it. When the waitress was told at the end of the evening she said that the chef's believe in a very authentic Italian dish and it reflects the taste of the pasta more than the sauce so they don't put as much sauce on. Well I have Italian friends and all of them said that they don't eat their pasta swimming in sauce but it SHOULD NOT BE DRY! Before I ate my dish I did ask the waitress about that fact that there was no basil in my pasta. The waitress went to ask and I guess the basil indicated on the menu was "basil oil" - well NO that doesn't cut it with me and it should state that on the menu. She did kindly bring me a little dish of fresh basil. Good thing I added (for $4 extra I found out - I was not informed) the spicy italian sausage or it really would have been a boring dish. Also they don't come around with freshly grated cheese you get a little dish if you ask. Anyway, bottom line, there are many better Italian restaurants in Hamilton and I would recommend you try them and don't waste your money on this too expensive, not up to par restaurant. I really wish a neat store had gone into that nice large location on Locke St. to bring more foot traffic as there are already too many restaurants and hair salons. Maybe soon their will be a new store there as I don't think this restaurant will last.

Interesting and well executed appetizers. Admirable selection of innovative pastas and real-deal pizza. Good service but only suggestion to improve would be to take drink orders pronto. Waited a good 10 minutes to order a cocktail (which was excellent though). High energy in a thoughtfully renovated space. Well done!

Magnifico! A night of subtle Italian elegance in company of delightful people. Exceptional are the times you enter an establishment exhibiting an upper class feel with such a respectable and humble center. From its periphery to its core, Cima offers a welcomed experience that combines a traditional menu with an urban atmosphere. Whether you’re in the mood to dine or just mingle in the crowd, you’ll likely to experience a feel resembling that of ‘tua famiglia’. Congratulations on this great achievement! EM

Have been to Cima twice and had a wonderful meal and service each time. Slightly higher priced than other venues in the area, but worth it on those special evenings

CIMA is a stunningly beautiful restaurant. Celebrated my husband’s birthday there today! It is very modern, we loved how bright and airy it is, loved the whole open concept thing watching food being prepared. It has a beautiful bar if you just want to have a Drink. The menu is mostly apps, salads, pastas and pizzas...but enough choices are given. Everything we ordered was delicious, especially loved the cavatelli with a delicious lamb sauce, and the cheese and guanciale pizzas were amazing !! Service was good. Still a few things to improve on as far as the serving went, but considering it was their opening weekend...they did just fine! Michael Fortino....you have a winner in your hands!!

Fantastic Authentic Italian Food. I attended with my wife and her parents last night. we started with the Strozza Fritti which was fantastic like my nona makes. the sauce really made it. my wife and her mom ordered Short-Rib Pappardelle. it was clearly homemade fresh pasta and the meat was fantastic. i ordered the Gnocchi Melanzana, which was elegantly delicious and hearty. i also ordered a glass of valpolicella which was fruity and tasty. perfect atmosphere, friendly service. I would come again in a heartbeat. in fact i plan to bring my uncle here soon. pricing was high, yet fair as food quality and experience was impeccable.
