Review Chicago Style Pizza Shack - Hamilton

Amy Thong
We were a group of 12 who travelled from Toronto. Unfortunately they don’t take reservations so we had to wait 30-40 minutes to be seated. Fortunately, they have a long cushioned bench at the front for guests to sit and wait, with additional wooden benches outdoors to prevent overcrowding. Our waitress was welcoming, friendly and accommodating. The restaurant is small, cozy and dimly lit with A/C for a hot day. They have single washrooms per gender located downstairs, so us girls had to wait and take turns, but they were well kept and clean. There’s no parking lot, but there’s free 1 hour street-side parking adjacent to the restaurant at designated hours. Our group came here to try their Chicago style pizza. We ordered their Large Stuffed “Chicago Special” Pizza and Small Stuffed Pizza with Customized Toppings to share. My boyfriend and I were a bit disappointed with the Chicago style pizza as we thought it was overly saucy; the toppings were not distributed evenly; and crust was really basic. The ingredients however were fresh and Italian sausage was flavourful - one slice of pizza is enough to make an individual full. Their Mediterranean Salad was good but they forgot to add croutons… Their Appy Platter was also good and was piping hot - I liked their Battered Mushrooms better than their Breaded Cheese Ravioli. Their desserts were just okay as well, nothing special again. Their garlic bread was more on the plain side. Overall, a nice place to dine for dates or as a small family. Their menu is on the pricier side and I can’t say I recommend their pizza but I’d like to give their pastas try if we ever decide to dine here again.

Fantastic stuffed deep dish pizza!! Loved this quaint place. Parking can be found on the cross street. Great service, even with a packed house (tables are relatively close together so don't expect lots of elbow room). Even the toilets were super clean! We had garden salad, glass of wine and a "small" stuffed pizza (mushroom + pepperoni; just perfect). Definitely a keeper.

Absolutely amazing authentic cuisine. The pizza is so good had the stuffed pizza "No Self Respect" and was in heaven. Also had deep fried ravioli and garlic bread with cheese. Wife also had their home made cheesecake but no pics cause she divoured it lol. No words can justify it you have to try it for yourself. The staff was pleasant and the atmosphere was comfortable and it's a cute little gem 💎 . A must try 110%.

This iconic pizza place has to be on the top of your list for a visit. While I no longer live close, the drive is well worth it. Photos below are the stuffed pizza with their famous Italian sausage and the No Self Respect.

THESE BAD BOYS ARE HUGE!!! The pizza tastes good, it’s very thick and generous with toppings. We went there early when they just opened, so I’m not sure if it’s because of that or it’s usually so slow. It took almost took an hour to get the pizza. But because the staff already told us that’s the case, we went and cam back after an hour. The staff are very friendly and helpful.

Delicious! All I expected and more, every single bite was full of flavour. Tiramisu was also a great experience, definitely will be back as many times as I can.

One of the best pizza's I've ever had so far. Always a worth a drive from someone coming from Niagara. We always pizza order half and half flavors in our pizza- Hawaiian and All Meat Always hits the spot and always good quality!

This is a really special spot! Great service and food, I highly recommend their classic deep dish pizza. Something that seems so simple is actually such a fun twist on a classic dish. Staff is so friendly and kind. Highly recommend!

I ordered two meatball sub, one with onions and one without extra toppings. I received a meatball sub without onions and a cheese sub with onions. A kind lady by the name of Georgia took my order, but she completely messed it up. I am very disappointed with the service.

Absolutely outstanding food, Our always go to place for deep dish, Just wonderful and we have to drive 25k to get here each way, so worth it.
NorthernWolf
Great place, friendly staff, high cal food lol. But what do you want? It’s pizza pie with several
Pounds of cheese and it’s heart attack inducing good.

Haven’t had a chance to eat in, but have done take out a lot, and recommend it.

Just came back from outstanding (and first time) visit to Chicago Style Pizza. I was served by the wonderful Grace and had the Eggplant Parmigiana; I got more than a generous portion and complete with salad. The only "downside" is that the restaurant is only open for dinner time. There is a waiting period due to the popularity, but absolutely worth it. I will be back!

My hubby and I have been going here for date night for over 25 years! The pizzas (Deep dish-stuffed or otherwise) are tasty and wonderful!!! The servers are always friendly! The oven baked pastas are crazy generous! If you're going on the weekend - prepare yourself for rush-hour, and parking can be.... a little walk. Totally worth any small inconvenience.
Mick
I've had this a few times. I like the deep dish pizza it is so delicious and filling. Soooo much cheese!
On the down side it is so fattening and rich, not to mention on the expensive side for pizza.
Wanderlusting Mama
We got a 10-slice, 14-inch stuffed pizza with pepperoni and bacon (each topping cost an additional $1.75).

When we finally got to eat our pizza, we got an explosion of melted cheese and bacon perfection. Soooo delicious. With pepperoni and bacon added to zesty tomato sauce and two pounds of cheese, how can you go wrong? This large stuffed pizza ended up for two meals for our family of 5. Each slice was that filling.

If you do prefer a regular or thick crust, they also have it. But, I know for sure that when I do go back, I will still order the stuffed pizza. I can get the other pizza closer to home.

Their pizza is a must-try. It will be hard to stay away from.

Have ordered delivery/takeout many times and never been disappointed. My favorites is their tomatoe sauce with any pasta, subs Mediterranean salad, deep dish pizzas, and their Eggplant Parm is unbelievably delicious. Large portions for delivery and huge portions when dining in. You will not be disappointed. Only negative is the wait times because they are so popular. Well worth the wait for me.
Felicia Lekhram
We had the Gnocchi which was tasty but nothing special, the bread we got was cold but our service warmed it up in the oven, made a huge difference. We also had a small Chicago style pizza - it was fantastic!!! Totally worth the wait the prices aren't bad I just wish there was more parking available. Our server was very friendly.

Chicago Style Pizza is a hole in the wall restaurant tucked away in the midst of Hamilton. I rarely travel to Hamilton and I’m not too sure of many restaurants that offer Deep Dish Pizza in the GTA. But when someone offers to drive you to Hamilton to check out deep dish pizza – you can’t really say no to that haha! Trust me, this place is totally worth the trek! (wherever you are!)

Wonderful pizza! I introduced their roast beef pizza with green peppers to my friends and it was a smash hit. As I have never tried anything but their pizza (lets admit, the pizza it great), my wife adores their pastas. Expect a wait, but it's worth it.

You know a place is good when people are lined up outside the door waiting for it to open. This place is very popular and the food is good. Yes, you will pay a little more especially for pizza but it's worth it! The pizza toppings are very generous and tasty. The Stuffed Pizza is REALLY stuffed! Luv it! My husband and I have been getting their food for many years. Everything on the menu is definitely worth trying.

I've been waiting for two years to try this place. Finally ordered take out. BIG DISAPPOINTMENT. The portions are huge and that is very nice. The taste of the food is very mediocre at best. Ordered a stuffed pizza with peperoni, ham, mushrooms and green pepper. Pizza tasted very bland. We also got spinach manicotti, the stuffing was dry and tasteless. Not fresh at all. It has been frozen. I was told the sit down food was way better. Might give it another shot. Very disappointed....

Was there last Sunday with a friend, food was great, service was great. Lasagna and ravioli was ordered with salads and the meals were wonderful and very filling. Have been enjoying dining in and ordering out from there since 1981. Great food!
Adam
Great deep dish pizza , price point is on the $$ side but the taste and quality makes up for it. Dough and Sauce is good , quality of toppings is on target .

This is the best and one of the only places serving real deep dish Chicago style pizza in Southwestern Ontario.

Come here, eat deep dish pizza and be in awe of its glory.
Rick Pinelli
Great deep dish! Have been going to Chicago the past 3 years and this is the only thing I could find that compares, really just as good. Going again to fulfill my deepdish craving, 5 stars would recommend to anyone!

Place is always packed so expect to wait. Obviously the bigger the party the longer the wait cause the place is small. Service is always friendly and efficient. Was not lovin' the "Chicago" Style pizza at first but now I order it without the extra tomato sauce on top. Instead i get garlic butter and its absolutely wonderful. I found the tom sauce on top made the whole pizza really wet. The pasta is always cooked perfectly. Menu has been the same for a while now. Wish they would change it up.
Christine Kinahan
Always delicious pizza, both the deep dish and the regular. The battered mushrooms are delicious too. The pizza reheats really well, so it's great the next day. I've never eaten in, I always call and pick it up. It works well.
J Sarmiento
I've had delivery several times. Ordered almost everything on the menu. Food is always consistent. Large portions. Definitely recommend to others.

My go to dish is the Veal Picante. The pasta has never been off. The sauce is flavourful but not enough to take away from the veal cutlet. Dine-in or takeout, words don't do it justice. Go find out for yourself!
Drcavenstein
Best Pizza in Hamilton. Never had a bad meal, in house or take out. Once you have their deep dish stuffed pizza you will not want to go back to regular pizza. Yes it is more expensive than regular pizza but a regular pizza doesn't have almost 2 pounds of cheese on it or the amount of toppings that get put in the stuffed pizza. Can only ever eat 2 slices, well worth the money.
Lifeisgood
Known for their deep dish. Very pricey though. Worth trying once but it is very rich and not worth the money I don't think Pasta is average I did say I like this restaurant though but only once and that is to experience a stuffed pizza Regular pizza is average We have had many that are so much better and not as expensive

READ THIS REVIEW FIRST. I have been going to Chicago Style for 20 years. Two simple facts- 1) Arrive for 4:30 or you simply don't get a seat. Every review on here complains that its a long wait.....well....it's probably one of the best places to eat in this town so why would you arrive at " dinner time". Adjust your eating timetable. Get there early. 2) In my eyes the best thing on the menu is the Chicken Alfredo- baked. No one alive can match their alfredo sauce. No one! Their regular crust pizza also beats anyones. A small portion of pasta will leave you with leftovers for lunch the next day unless you are a glutton.
Alma7d
75 min for delivery. It took them 75 min to deliver the food. and when the food arrived , it was the worst pizza I have ever had. The pizza was sloppy and untidy. The eggplant pri was below standard. Overall not a good bang for the buck.

April 25, 2014 May 5, 2015 ~ rachelmf12 ~ Leave a comment Time for a quick n’ easy post! (while watching Hell’s Kitchen chefs make gourmet pizzas, coincidence?) I had a friend over for some wine, pizza and lots of girl talk tonight. I’ve been meaning to visit Chicago Style Pizza Shack since I moved here back in February but every attempt to get there or order out was unsuccessful, my brother can vouch for this! When I moved to Hamilton I browsed all the pizza options close to me, and was so excited to see such a well reviewed pizza restaurant literally minutes form my apartment. When my girlfriend asked what take-out was close by I immediately thought of Chicago Style Pizza Shack. FINALLY I could try this stuffed pizza I’ve read so many good things about. No longer would I drool in my sleep over this place, it had become a reality. Every time I drive by here its packed and there’s a line-up to get a table…good sign! My girlfriend got the small stuffed pizza with black olives, pepperoni and green pepper. The small comes with six slices which was definitely more than enough to satisfy the two of us. As I’ve heard a stuffed pizza should be, it was loaded with cheese and toppings, piled high along the walls of dough. I’ve never had a stuffed pizza before and I love the idea of having the sauce on top because it really gives you the chance to experience the flavour in the sauce. The dough was cooked well, browned perfectly and strong enough to hold all those toppings in. Everything tasted very fresh, was hot to order and there were plenty of toppings inside. The sauce was delicious, not too sweet or spicy, blanketing the gooey cheese and toppings underneath. I’ll definitely need to go back here sometime for an actual sit down dinner, and do a proper review, as I’ve been told the pastas are just something I MUST try! It’s pretty funny how my first two reviews are about pizza. I swear I’m not biased ;) Anyways, if you want something to satisfy that pizza craving but are lo

Delivery time promise. As a regular customer of Chicago Pizza for "20" some odd years,I know how busy they can be on a Friday or Sat night. I ordered a large stuffed pizza for a dinner party I was hosting on a Friday night. I was told that the wait time for delivery would be 75 minutes (which I was okay with) 2 hours later my pizza arrived. I called to speak to the manager & was told she was extremely busy , but that she would take $8 off the total of my bill. There was no" we are sorry for the delay" by either the manager or the person who took the order. The reason I am writing this today, is to let you know to please give yourself lots of extra time for delivery.
I will give them one more chance, as there pizza is the best in town.

Best pizza ever. Friends warned me I would only be able to eat two pieces of their deep dish pizza. And they were right but it was the best two slices of pizza I've ever eaten. It wasn't a long wait at all since we ordered salads and appetizers too. Deep fried ravioli highly recommended; the battered mushrooms were okay. Caesar salad was excellent but would have been better if they used real Parmesan instead of the Kraft powdered crap. My friends had the salad with prosciutto and more and it looked delicious. The "NO respect" meat lovers pizza and vegetarian - both deep dish - were amazing. I did not miss the meat on the vegetarian as it was so good. I wish there was a location in Toronto.
MooMoo
Yummy. Dinner for 2 - Vegetarian deep dish pizza. was so good. would recommend anyone that's in town to stop by this location. cheesy delicious . and also good and friendly service.

Risked death for this sandwich.. Found half of a roast beef on garlic bread sandwich in my fridge. (How I managed to save half of one I'm still not sure. I probably ordered at least 3 & consumed the missing 2 1/2 of this sandwich fiasco) Couldn't remember the last time I had ordered from Chicago's...
Ate the sandwich anyways.
& I personally feel that this is a testament to how good their roast beef on garlic bread subs are.
8 hours later & I'm still okay, though craving more sandwiches.

Awesome. Unbelievably gooey Chicago style pizza. One of a kind. Watch out for sun-dried tomatoes though-too fierce. Stick to mushrooms. Desserts here are super amazing too - Tiramisu and soffogato in particular

Mobile review. I've had great experiences from Chicago Style! The pizza is definitely a little more expensive than some places, but you get what you pay for! Delicious!
Raffterman99
Store bought pasta. I've eaten Ravioli in many restaurants, this is the first time eating in a "highly" advertised restaurant and been served store bought, frozen pasta........not even the good "store made pasta". My wife ordered fettucine and she was served the same low quality store made frozen pasta. I will not be giving them a second chance.

Best Pizza in the City!. This is the best pizza in the city. The standard pizza is great but the deep dish is as good as any we've had in Chicago without all the driving! Come visit!!!

Eet Smakelijk!

It was ok.. Have heard a lot about this place over the years and finally ordered. Delivery service was good, friendly. Got the pizza within an hour. It wasn't cheap ($50 for 2 medium pizzas -- Cosmopolitan and Shack --- and delivery). The pizza was decent, sauce good, lots of toppings, but pretty average overall. Good basic pizza, like Bronzie's on James S., but nothing to write home about. In the future, I'll stick to Pizza Pizza if I just need cheap (price and quality...know what you're getting) food to fill the belly, and Naroma on Locke if I want something fancy and feel like paying a little more.

Amazing delivery tonight. My wife surprised me with a supper from Chicago Style tonight. It's more expensive than most of the cheapo pizza places in Hamilton, so we don't order from there very much, but I came home from work tonight to find a Shack Special stuffed pizza and a No Self Respect pizza for our sons. Both pizzas were excellent, as all of our experiences with Chicago Style have been, and there is more than enough for all of us to take to school / work tomorrow!

Take-out was bad. Ordered take-out pizza. Crust barely cooked and not real bacon. Have eaten in and enjoyed thoroughly. First bad experience.
Drummer.dude1234
Lower city ignored. They won't deliver to kenilworth and dunsmure but they will to gage st ???Don't they want my money??
Leefazzari
I wish. They never showed up the second time I tried This SUCKS!!!!!!
CKAcacia
Love it!!. I only wish it was cheaper, but that would compromise the quality. I know for a fact that the sauce is made in store and not mass produced in some factory like chain pizzarias.

I've been going to this restaurant since I was a child (back when the office space next to it was Elsie's Dance studio). I'd eat there every so often after my dance classes. I've never had an issue with the staff, and any issue that had occured was quickly corrected. The staff even knew my family and as I grew into my teenage years would ask me how my Dad and Grandma were doing when I'd drop by to pick up an order. Very friendly, good food, and decent wine (I'm not much of a drinker, but I love their Zinfandel).

For 20 years that I can recall, the food, the quality, and the service have never changed.
Blueirides4u
The Best Pizza in Town!. I really love Chicago pizza. The toppings are wholesome and plenty. The crust baked to perfection. When I had Chicago pizza for the first time, it completely turned me off of Pizza Pizza for good. I'd rather starve then eat another slice of cheap pizza. I hear the service can be slow....yes...but, give your head a shake, this is a 'Mom and Pop' style business, not some giant franchise that gets your order in 20min flat with toppings from the lowest bidder. Chicago Pizza is worth the wait. Many times I've seen the line up go outside the door with every table packed....what does that tell you. Also, I have ordered their Lasagna which is very good as well. Do yourself a flavour and try some Chicago Pizza....its worth the wait.
Beatrice
This place was great I always order take out and never get disapointed yes its a bit of a wait but its worth it!
Greg.curtin
Never, ever, again!. Ordered takeout on Sunday Dec. 8th/2013. I had heard great things about Chicago Pizza and we placed an order for two large, thick crust pizzas. The "Shack" special and their meat lovers (w/Italian sausage added). Their thick crust lived up to its name and the toppings were more than we had ever seen on a pizza. We were all thoroughly disappointed in the pizza. It wasn't good or bad - it was completely bland and flavourless. The Italian sausage addition to one pizza was a $5.00 upgrade for something that had no flavour. The staff was very friendly and happy. The entire bill came to $69.00 including a $5.00 tip. A complete waste of money! I want to call the pizza "really, really bad" but I can't because it was a completely bland and flavourless. I verbally chastize the person who recommended the pizza and she couldn't even explain it or defend it? It's not unusual for any restaurant to have an off day, however it seems none of the staff did anything wrong - it was simply a complete waste of money! Never! Ever! Again!
Jess
Know what you're getting into. Don't get me wrong, this place is amazing. I've been a few times and it's been delicious every time. The pizza is heavenly, filled with gooey cheese and amazing sauce. However, the first time I went, I was unaware of how much it was going to cost me. Split the small pizza with at least one other person because it is huge. It also costs upwards of 25 dollars of one 6 slice pizza, so know what you're getting yourself into first before you go. Great place!
Stephan Davidson
Outstanding deep dish pizza! Bring your appetite or you'll be bringing home leftovers.
McDaddy
Stick with deep dish pizza. The deep dish pepperoni is the only food item i would recommend at this place. it is very tasty.
Teddyhello1010
Love this place. Best place ever! Blown away by the great food and service!
A.K Niazi
Cozey environment, friendly staff, and fresh ingredients in a deep dish Chicago style pizza. Epic win. I loved my experience and the pizza was incredible.
Jd
One of the best pizzas I've ever had! If your in Hamilton you for sure need to visit this place
Ozzy
Tried this place twice just to make sure... First time I had the stuffed roast beef pizza which was disgusting. Tasted like roast beef cold cuts in a canned tomato pizza. Second time we ordered the a pan pizza with pasta red and white - which had so much cheese, I don't know what the actual dish was supposed to taste like. Expensive processed crap! Thought processed food was supposed to be cheap to entice someone to try it.
Andrew
Awful customer service. I had an utterly wretched customer service experience here.

I ordered TWO pizzas from them via walk-in for an event I had planned. They told me that it would take over 35 minutes, so I left to have a walk.

When I came back, they told me that there was only ONE pizza ready for me.

When I asked what happened to the other one, they told me that it was never made.

The girl who took my order admitted that I had ordered TWO pizzas, but said that they just made one.

I asked if they could deliver the other pizza to me but they said I was out of their range. (I live in Hamilton).

I asked for a credit or a discount next time. They said no.

The girl's expression for the entire time was so ho-hum. And there was no effort to rectify a mistake that they clearly made.

The only option was to wait over a half hour so they could make a new one, while my pizza was getting cold and while my guests were waiting.

I paid for the single pizza and left, as I still had people to feed.

This placed a bad light on the gathering I had planned, as I had to get food elsewhere once I dropped off the pizza. I will never eat here again, not because of the mistake, but because they didn't even TRY to fix what was clearly their incompetence.

They clearly don't care about their customers.
D.M.N.
Deep dish with Italian sausage, mushroom and onion. Amazing. Also, the Mediterranean salad is delish.
THE.FOOD.GOD
DISGUSTING ! That lame show.... DISGUSTING !
That lame show " you gotta eat here"
LIED !
Only lazy fat families like this dump !
Poor pre frozen ingredients and canned tomatoes = low class garbage.

Mmmmmm. Can this place handle one more glowing review?
I have been ordering take out from Chicago's for years now, as my budget and waistline allow, and have never once been disappointed. Our usual order is a small stuffed pizza. It's not cheap, but I am willing to pay a few extra bucks for quality ingredients expertly put together with care. A small stuffed is good for dinner for two plus leftovers.
Another must-try is the veal or chickem parm. You get huge portions. The spaghetti is amazing, I would love to know their secret in making the sauce, and I should mention that I am normally not a pasta fan.
Phone in your order, be prepared to wait and make sure you're hungry.
Paul James
Pizza was very filling fed 3 people for 2 meals which you can rarely get anywhere else. I don't recommend trying to eat in as the line up is huge but they serve almost everything on take out which is made quite promptly
Erin Weir
Chicago Special = Fantastic. This restaurant is fantastic. It’s the only place I have found (outside of Chicago) that serves real Chicago-style stuffed pizza. As others have noted, one must usually wait for a table, but that reflects the restaurant’s popularity.

It’s also true that the pizzas are not cheap, although complaints on this forum about $35 apply only to the large roast-beef stuffed pizza. A small stuffed pizza with anything other than roast beef costs more like $20 and easily feeds two people. (Other items are quite inexpensive, like the large salad for $4.)

Relatedly, I note that the few negative comments about the stuffed pizza come from folks who ordered something other than the “Chicago Special”: Italian sausage, green peppers and mushrooms. I recommend that first-time diners try this classic option or at least something with Italian sausage, the meat that works best in stuffed pizza.
Ed Stret
At first I wasn't sure about Chicago style in Hamilton. But the pizza was great!
Jerry
Pretty good. The food here is great, just wish they had a bigger dining area.
Stephanie
Amazing! After many reccomondations we finally tried it and.... Pizza will never be the same for us! Everything in the restaurant smelled delicious! We will absolutely be back
Fester
One of the best. It doesn't matter what you have here everything is great omg just yummy form the garlic bread to lasanga ,meatball subs ,deep dish stuffed pizza , to the normal pizza , and the chicken fettichini alfredo or ligini pasta or the seafood supreme (avaible fri.s only ) with fetchini noodles is the bomb highly recomend this place to eat ,,, but on friday's that can be hard to do even take out can be min an hr to an hr n a half wait but its well worth it .... it is a bit pricey but in the long run ...... BOTTOM LINE IS YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR IN LIFE .....
World Taster
Nevermind the pizza.... The pizza is excellent, but expensive. No reservations, always a line, and stale bread (thankfully it's free and you can decline it). The upside? Delicious pasta, fresh salads, great appetizers... everything is tasty and affordable. It's a regular spot for us.
The Phantom
The Best. I've been going there since 1977. I haven't been disappointed yet. Even when they accidentally gave away my order to someone else during take- out. I still came out on top. This pizza had more toppings and the owner Pat even told me what happened so they cut the price in half to make up for it.
Brit
Ive have been going to Chicago Style for years, however I cant say that this will continue... the service I use to look forward to is now no service and what use to be my favorite dishes only disappoint. What happened Chicago Style?!
Zen Master
Yum. Gotta say.....pretty damn good!
Mark
BEST....PIZZA...EVER! I wish my stomach was larger so I could eat more. Tell all your friends about this place. They will forever thank you. Expect to wait a little while because it's the BEST...PIZZA... EVER. Or take out think about it?
T
Not Quite as Billed. The location is very busy. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Service is not fast, but that service feature is clearly indicated so any dissatisfaction is the customer's own fault. The food is fair, not great. There is really nothing special. Portion sizes are large, but the quality is ordinary.
Mamamac
Worth the wait???. Their Deep dish is good especially since there isnt really anywhere else here to get real Chicago style pizza, but the wait it horrible both in restaurant and at home. Everyone was so hungry waiting that the grumpiness set in and we couldn't enjoy the pizza as much as we probably could have. Portions seemed lot smaller with the delivery?? Place to try at least once but not going to be your "only go to..." place when service lacks that badly. Oh, forgot to mention that the busyness is affecting the staff as well as they are losing the friendliness that they use to have and that every pizza (really that's What your most known for) place should have to ensure returning customers. We havent gone back since October and the only thing that the kids say is that they don't want to go there because it takes too long. Impressions do matter and it's not always just about the food.
Greg
I love Chicago style, and have been going there for years. I had take out there a couple of times, and have been very disappointed with the portion size. I had the antipasto salad and the chicken parm red and white. They were half the portion of what you get in the restaurant, and the same price. It happened the first time and I thought it was a fluke, so I tried it a second and it was the same thing. Both the salad and pasta were half the portion size. No more take out from Chicago Style for me!
Reyrey
Good. Hey what can I say this place makes good pizza. Saw it on food network came to check it out. I tell you though, its nothing out of this world. Got the no self respect deep dish and sure it was great and I definitely recommend giving it a try but the restaurant did not live up to the hype. See my other reviews for some AWESOME restaurants. (pizza hut tastes better!)
Jeff
Awful Service. I know this place is busy, I get it. I am happy that a local Hamilton business is popular. However, IF YOU CANNOT GIVE AN ACCURATE DELIVERY TIME, DO NOT DELIVER!

Been waiting 2 hours so far for our delivery order. We were told an hour to an hour and 15 minutes, and it has been 2 hours. Once again, I get that you are busy, but 45 minutes to an hour late (or more, we don't know yet!) is just ridiculous.

On top of which, the food is nowhere near the worth wait from my last 2 dining experiences.

Never again.
Tomas Roeder
Been going to CSPS for over 28 years now. Love this place. Chicago Style Deep Dish roast beef pizza is probably the most amazing pizza you'll ever have this side of Chicago. Pizza Uno in the US doesn't even come close! But it's not the only yummy item they serve! Try the red and white pasta dish and start off with Pat!s bruschetta bread you won't be disappointed.
Limited seating and wait times could be long, but its well worth the wait (IMHO)
Lisa
Deep Dish Delicious. I absolutely love this pizza (other menu items are good too). The deep dish, no matter what we have stuffed it with, has never let us down! It's the one thing I will go off the diet for......you gotta eat here!
Shalynn
The pizza was very tasty and super filling! However be prepared to wait forever and pay too much ($35 for one pizza). They don't seem to be able to handle their demand very well. Worth trying at least once though.
Chris Mifsud
Great food... questionable service. The food at Chicago Style Pizza is fantastic, a little pricey and the wait is a little long for the stuffed crust pizzas but it is well worth it. The 2 irritating things are that the place is always cold.... turn down the a/c lol and the service is somewhat forceful and even colder than the a/c. plus you have to pay for refills on pop... BOO!

other than the poor service the food an atmosphere is quite enjoyable
Billy
Lived around the corner for years, heard about it seen the tv show you gotta eat here so decided to finally try it, had the stuffed pizza pepperoni and mushroom and I loved it just perfect could only put down one slice very filling!

Ex-Longtime Customer. My family has been eating from here for YEARS way way way before they were on You Gotta Eat Here. I find it has gone downhill, the quality just isn't there any more. The pastas especially the alfredos are too greasy (fyi the alfredos the next day for lunch are like eating pasta in a grease puddle) the pizzas just aren't the same anymore, change is sometimes good but not in this case. And the last time we ordered for delivery they told us 1hr for delivery. We know they are busy so we anticipated more about 1.5 hours IT TOOK JUST OVER 3 HOURS!!!!!! We never heard from them, and when they came my father asked what the problem was, the confused delivery man said they were busy and asked how long we had been waiting. My father told him, and the delivery man was even shocked. My father told him straight up to go back and tell his boss they've just lost a longtime customer. Sorry everyone the food isn't that good to wait 3 hours for. And they could have called us to let us know it was going to be that delayed. We are never dealing with them again.

Simply amazing

Love the pizza!. I read that this place was number one on trip advisor and was in Hamilton so decided to check it out. They open after 430 so me and my friend went at 6pm. It's a small place, and we waited a title while..... But... It's worth the wait! The chicago pizza is awesome!! Worth checking out. My only compliant was I could hear the kitchen staff yelling. ( and not about the kitchen )

So Good. Holy shit, how does one not like this place? I must say that unless you're early you should expect a wait in the line-up, but even after that it takes about 30 mins to cook the pizzas to-order. So make sure you're not too hungry going there, that or expect to order appetizers. Sure, I can be really really picky about my food and say that the marinara wasn't perfect - you know, just the way I like it - and that some of the meats were a bit off on the savoriness of it. Or that the crust isn't the "authentic chicago style" buttery-pie crust texture. If you're uptight, there's always something to complain about.

However! I really didn't mind all that minute detail much. Just to be able to experience a chicago style pizza again nearby - and not to mention a more than decent one - nearby is well worth saving that trip to Chicago. The service was absolutely great, despite how crowded the place was. As for your pizzas not turning out exactly how you imagined it... I do think the fault is at not getting the combination right. I found their pepperonis a bit too salty. Friend who ordered all pepperoni inside her deep crust ended up finding her pizza a bit too salty overall. So I'd suggest mix a good variety of ingredients inside your pizza, and it will serve you well.

Another thing, although we were warned.... The sizes here run bigger than the average chicago style, I think. The small really isn't that small, nothing close to a personal pizza. 2 people can very well share one small, and err... The medium and large was just huge. 4 ppl ordered 1medium and 1 large.... We had about a week's worth of leftover to bring back.

I'm sure this goes without saying... But this place is a must try. For any pizza enthusiast, it's worth the drive. You'll be pleasantly surprised!

Better Get Here Early. I have been meaning to try this place for a while, but the last time we were here we only got here 15 minutes before they unlocked the doors, so we would have had an hour and a half wait for a table, so we decided to come back another time. This time we got here half an hour before they opened and managed to be only third or fourth in line. We got the "No Self Respect" Deep Dish. The toppings were fresh and the crust was crispy and had great flavour. The deep fried ravioli appetizer was a bit disappointing, but the combo bread (half garlic bread with cheese, half bruschetta) was pretty good. Overall had a good experience and would definitely go back again, but I would get there early so I don't have to wait an hour or more for a table.

Saw this place on tv, so decided to try it out. Bruchetta cheese bread for starters, it was ok, tomato was really juicy and made bread soggy. Tried a deep dish roast beef pizza and a regular no self respect meat lovers pizza, I have to say I was dissapointed, both were really tasteless, for the amount of ingredients I don't understand it. Prices were ok and service was good.

The deep dish pizza is to die for. Sliced meatballs in pizza is the best thing ever! This place is always slammed but there is good reason for it. Don't be turned off by the high price if the deep dish pizza, it is so thick I can only eat one piece.

Stuffed Pizza is the BEST. The stuffed pizza is super Delicious. Tons of cheese and the best flavour. It's more expensive than the cheap places but it is high quality for sure. It gets busy inside, but we pick up. Try it once and you'll agree how good it is...

How Pizza SHOULD be Made!. I wish someone in the GTA would make a pizza that could compare with this place. I've made a number of visits from Brampton. Because the pizza takes a while to properly bake, I generally order one to go. I'll take it home and enjoy it for lunch and dinner the next day. While there, of course, I'll generally enjoy the massive helping of chicken parmesean.

Good Italian Food!. Famlily restaurant that has much to offer in the way of italian fare! I decided to go with the roast beef pizza with hot peppers on the side. The pizza came and I was surprised to see the large amount of roast beef on it!! Taste, texture and oh so delicious!! A must try!

Love the pizza - hate the delivery.. We love the Chicago Style Deep Dish Pizza - we have never been disappointed with this incredibly filling pizza. We also tried pasta with our last order and it was perfect (great size and value)

The only problem is limited parking with pick-up and the delivery often takes well over an hour.

Very good. A great place to get pizza and to sit and eat. Chicago style pizza is the cheesiest pizza known to man. Its made like a pie made of cheese and very filling. A small pizza is good for 3-4 people.

STuffed pizza was very good and extremely filling! The box weighed a ton when carrying it out of the restaurant. One piece felt like eating 3. A little pricey at $23 for a small, but ingredients were fresh and again very filling! Will go back to try other menu items.

3.5 out of 5 Pizza is not bad. I looked at the Top 10 for Hamilton and felt like pizza tonight so I thought I would stop by. The outside is well dated and so is the interior with limited seating. The customer service was very friendly and gave me good advice to which pie to order. As I sat waiting ofr my pizza to go I listened to customers waiting beside me and all had very possitive tihings to say about this Shack. Well run family business that refused to expand multiple locations or make the current restaurant bigger, they like it small they way it has all ways been. I would have to agree you get absolutely huge portions for the money, My pie was huge! not greasy, very thick crust, good sauce and very nice cheese. This will have to go in my top 5 Pizza places in North America I will be back again! very good Pie!

It's just a great place for well pizza.
