Review Elizabeth Street Eatery - Guelph

We found Elizabeth Street Eatery only because we happened to drive by it. I’m so sad it’s been open for a year and we just found it now. The whole experience was fantastic! When I called for reservations, the owner/chef asked if we had any dietary restrictions. The chalk board menu is created daily and he shared that they’re happy to accommodate pretty much any dietary restriction. (We don’t have any but have friends who do and are always on the lookout for good places to send them). The server greeted us by name when we got there and we were excited to see a really varied menu. The beer and wine menu was also great and featured some of our favourite Ontsrio breweries that are hard to find beers from. We started with a fantastic shrimp dish and then moved on to salmon and their Queen Elizabeth burger. The portions were perfect, the price was super reasonable for the quality of the food and while it’s a small place with low ceilings, it wasn’t noisy, even when it got busy. The service was quick and efficient without feeling rushed. If you miss Delhi St Bistro, this should 100% be your new go-to place.

GO HERE NOW!! Seriously, this was one of the best meals I've had in Guelph. Creative, excellently prepared and beautifully presented. Not at all what one would expect from this small location on the east side of town. The menu is written on a chalk board and changes regularly. The descriptions do not do justice to the dishes. For example, the "papadum and garlic hummus" was absolutely sublime. The papadum were light and crisp with a lovely savory flavor and the hummus was not at all overpowered by garlic, it was a creamy texture (suitable for dipping with the delicate papadum) topped with olive oil, micro greens and pistachio nuts. One of the best appetizers I have ever had! I will be returning frequently!

Highly recommend. This restaurant provided some of the best food I have ever eaten. So much flavour in each bite. I love the drink selection too. Although it is in Guelph, it is highly worth the commute from anywhere. I will be coming back!

Amazing up and coming restaurant. The food is nothing short of exceptional and that likely has to do with the passion and creativity of the chefs. Local, fresh and flavourful — we had the hummus, foraged mushroom tartine w. Chèvre, amazing dry rub steak, and short rib rigatoni. A++

Each time I've visited has been better than the last! The owner clearly has a passion for food and a palate that speaks through his food. I've never had "fries" the way they are done here and its impeccable! His food is to die for and the staff make it so warm and inviting. It's like you're going to your parents house for dinner... and they've stepped up their cooking and presentation game! The food, to me, is the most elegant comfort food ever and the prices are surprisingly reasonable! I would come every day if I could! TL;DR wow!!!

Wow, this restaurant truly blew me away today! It doesn’t look like much from outside but the passion is so evident in the quality of the food! Joey was so sweet and knowledgeable about every aspect of the menu! The food was so delicious. My only complaint is we were there for almost 2 hours, and unfortunately ran out of time to enjoy the delicious smelling and looking dessert. Absolutely make sure you have time to spare. We absolutely will return!

We stopped by for lunch and had the small burgers. Really, small was plenty to eat and home fries delicious. However, being lunch and plain but exceptionally clean the ambience leads one to expect fast food prices. This is not so. We had been told it was pricey and also one does not get enough to eat. We did get plenty with our hamburger and fries so maybe it was the price that irks others. We will try a dinner type meal in the future. Owner friendly and welcoming. The menu offered quite a variety but leaned to dinner type meals rather than lunch. Possibly, salads could be offered.
