Had a waitress, I think her name was Rachel (?). She was very kind and attentive. She even brought us over extra napkins and the carrot cake was garnished so nicely! She laughed at my husbands jokes. I don’t know what I like more, the service or the delicious food!
Thank you for carrying vegan ice cream! We are (mostly) vegan and now our family can go out and enjoy ice cream, and our young daughter doesn't have to miss out. It means so much - thank you!
What a lovely place to share some time with a gal pal! We were served immediately and left to chat as long as we liked. High tea was splendid!
One of my favourite lunch places the whole family loves it
Reasonable prices, great location, AMAZING ice cream, and renting kayaks for the afternoon is pretty much the perfect nature escape <3

Went for lunch with my dad and grandmother. Delicious lunch had tea as well. Great service and very nice atmosphere... Will be back for sure.
The Boathouse Tea Room is situated where the Eramosa River and the Speed River connect. It’s a place to connect to ice cream while visiting Guelph. It’s restored from a century-old boathouse associated with Guelph’s river systems.
The pink shop operates as both a popular tea room & an ice cream parlour. They are quite generous with the tasty selection of Shaw’s ice cream flavours. The cones are better than the ice cream cookies with dough that was hardened by chill time. There is a park beside the boathouse to calmly enjoy the treat & watch wildlife.
Unfortunately I’ve not had the chance to dine inside the tea room itself. Each time I visit, they have indicated as being fully booked even when there were visibly empty tables inside and outdoor riverside. Hence docking a star from the experience!
We love the Boathouse!! The breakfast options are very affordable, and it was such a cute place to escape from campus!! Service is fast, food is yummy, and everything is served in such a beautiful way. Their specialty tea is amazing and definitely worth a try if you're a black-tea lover!
Ambiance: This hidden gem has a very nice patio situated right next to the water. Perfect for a high tea brunch. The inside less appealing to the eye but comfortable nonetheless. Unfortunately, there is wasp issue, we would have loved to enjoy the brunch outdoors but due to the number of wasps, we asked to be seated inside (much warmer inside).
There is an ice cream shop located without the restaurant (outdoor access). That was very popular as well
Food: I really appreciate that they have a whole variety menu instead of the basics. The high tea pricing is very decent compared to other places. The high tea assemble comes with sandwiches, scone, jam, whipped cream, sandwiches fruit & tea of choice. We also opted to trying other items on the menu like Egg wraps & bagels, & summer salad. Everything was delicious.
Service: They were accommodating and attentive.
Definitely worth checking out early.
No one could have found a better okace to put an ice cream shop. The place looks so perfect. You really do not have to care how the ice cream tastes, the surroundings make up for it.
But the ice cream selection there is fabulous. Way too good. I can not just wait to think how beautiful this place looks. Sit down, enjoy ice cream and soak in everything there
We took out lunch here today, and chose to eat it overlooking the river, right beside the restaurant, where there are lots of picnic tables and Muskoka chairs. The restaurant itself is super cute inside, and has a lovely back patio, too. They even have doggie ice cream cones! The food was solid. We loved it!
Very friendly staff, the high tea set was nice but not memorable. You have a nice view of the river from sitting outside. I recommend calling ahead for a reservation, it gets fairly busy.
4 of us went to The Boathouse last Friday to celebrate my friend's 60th birthday. We had a lovely table just as you walked into The Boathouse. We had the Afternoon Tea. The sandwiches were delicious, the scones with cream/jam were so yummy and the desserts.... awesome!!! Two of us had the cranberry tea (delicious), my sister had her favourite Earl Grey and the birthday girl had blueberry tea (wonderful!). Overall it was a lovely way to celebrate a milestone birthday with delicious food, great atmosphere and wonderful friends ! We will be back! We were too full to try the ice cream.. next time !!! Highly recommended Tea Room !!!
This tea house is a local favourite. You can also get ice cream on site.
Came with a few friends and enjoyed a cream tea and a breakfast wrap. The price is very reasonable and high tea is available. We were a bit disappointed that the cream with our scone was whipped cream rather than traditional clotted cream. It's a busy spot on weekends so I'd highly recommend a reservation. We saw people being turned away on a Sunday at mid day.
