Stopped in for take-out on our drive back to Edmonton, we’ve never been before, ordered our food to go which was the pulled pork bun with coleslaw and the bbq chicken burger with yam fries. The food took about 15-20min, waitress at the bar with blond short hair was very pleasant and offered us water while we waited. Now the best part, the food was AMAZING! They really nailed it and know their bbq! Get extra bbq sauce, its fantastic with just a bit of heat. We will definitely stop here again one day.
Pretty decent food, good service, and very close to the Tesla Superchargers at Travelodge. We had BBQ baby back ribs and shepherd's pie, and a nice brownie with ice cream for dessert. Both my wife and I were happy with our food. A little bit cool inside today, but it is also cold outside.
I am a local that enjoys a good meal and atmosphere, this is the place to me its like cheers. I sit at the bar order my pop since i dont drink and my food. Im by myself and other frequent customers stop in locals and non locals. We sit together and visit its great. The service is amazing food is always great. I recommend you to try it out for yourself and right your own experience
The staff were friendly the food was fast. My boyfriend had bbq bacon cheeseburger and said it was good. I had the half rack of pork ribs. They were pretty good too. The real stars were the corn bread and honey badger cocktail. The cook even came by to see how our food was. Really good place if you're in the neighbourhood.
I have to say after reading the reviews I was hesitant to give this place a try but my husband and I decided to give it a chance and find out for ourselves what it was like instead of going off what others said (not that we didn't appreciate the info cause we did) I can honestly our experience was the complete opposite of everything we had read. The food was amazing and came out quickly, the service was prompt and polite and I feel, definitely worth the money we spent. We are already planning to stop here for lunch on Tuesday on our way back to Alberta. Please people give this place a second chance if you've had a not so great experience and if you haven't tried it yet, GO!!
Great smokehouse, had the smoked pulled pork sandwich and ribs, great food friendly staff and a good atmosphere to enjoy a few cold ones with the fellas. I'll be back
Stopped on our way back from the rockies. Ordered and had to wait 45 minutes. Ribs were dry, bacon steak was awesome, as was the meatloaf and the mac 'n cheese. Chicken burger was very poor and dry. Would like to stop another time to try other menu items though.
Mmmm, tasty! Very nice brisket. Smoked chicken breast was good, moist & delicious - done very well. Jerky maybe a little salty, but definitely worth the stop!
If you were in Memphis you would likely be disappointed, but for golden it its a treat to stop on the way rest or west. The decor is dated and somewhat tacky, but the bbq it's really good. The wings out of the smoker are awesome with salt and pepper. The brisket on the dinner menu is awesome and the homemade sauces are really tasty, spicy is my favorite.
PS - barbeque from the smoker should not be hot! Low and slow my friends, warm and juicy is what you want.
Smokehouse. The service was a little slow but she was busy as she was alone, my son killed the Ultimate Burger and is was very good. I had the Brisket which was great but a few slices were very fatty, sauces were very good and my wife had the chicken sandwich was ok nothing to jump up and down about.
We will go back next time through and try something else.
A Great Find. Service was good, and our waitress was very friendly. The portions were great, and everything was fresh. A great family restaurant.
Great friendly service (Heather), bacon Steak is a must have. Pulled pork and ribs really good. Brisket could have used a bit more time in the smoker to get the texture right. Sauces as good as any I've had. This will be our new go to place when traveling through Golden. Definitely best place on Hwy 1 between Calgary and Vancouver. Who would have thought you could find setting this good on the highway
Good prices, yummy food, big portions. Gravy tasted a bit weird though...
Bacon steak was AWESOME!!! Who doesn't like bacon? The waitress was very nice and very attentive. I got the pulled pork as well but I didn't finish it as I found it dry. My boyfriend had the brisket and it was also dry. Would like to go back to try some ribs. Yum!
Couldn't believe the bad reviews. I travel from calgary a lot and pass threw golden about once a month and on this trip i decided to give the firepit smokehouse and bbq a try, i was told by many friend( that had eaten there this summer) not to stop because they did not enjoy the food at all, but i said hey i'll try it for myself...and was i ever glad i did! i was greeted as soon as i walked threw the door by a smiling waitress, i could see that she was busy ( being that she was the only one there and had a lot of tables) so it was nice to see that she took that extra second to make me feel welcome
i was told to and i quote " grab a seat where ever you little heart desires" (this waitress just won my heart over) so i did i sat in the lounge, after a moment my waitress came over and introduced herself as Rita... and then i understood, she was an east coaster and as you all know if you've ever been served by an east coaster not only are you in for a funny lunch but your going to leave feeling like a king...cause those woman can make any man smile.
Rita informed me that all their beer on tap was local beer and insisted i try the 1516 lager ( i did) and with such good taste in beer i proceed to tell her to order me what she would have if she was sitting with me. And away she went not telling me what shes going to order because it wouldnt be a surprise if she did, she handed me the t.v. remote and told me to sit back and relax she got me covered.
About 15 minutes had past and she returned to my table carrying a plate piled high with bbq meat... and then she explained every thing on the plate from the brisket (i had no idea what brisket was),pulled pork, smoked bacon steaks(ya! bacon steaks) and a half rack of beef ribs(or as rita called them dinosaur bones) homemade bbq beans cornbread and yam fries
I have to tell you ive been to texas but those ribs where just Smoked enough the pulled pork was juicy i wasnt to impressed with the cornbread (a little dry)
after i ate everything on my plate i asked my new friend about the smoking process and what wood they used, i was than grabed from my seat and was given a tour of the smoke room and a baby back right from the smoker
good job to the owners who snagged this wonderful lady and the dedicated chef who spoke so inspired about what they are doing here
cheers to the firepit bbq!
ive been back every time i pass threw golden and would insist that you all do the same
keep up the good work
