Review Yo Yo's Japanese Cuisine - Georgetown

Krishna Shenoy
Amazing and delicious Japanese food. Went during lunch hours, fairly empty to dine in. Made a reservation regardless, on their website. After ordering, food was served to us pretty quickly, I would say within 10 - 15 mins. And all the dishes came out together. Quick service, decent pricing and tasty food. Would recommend.

We visited YoYo Sushi in Georgetown for Father’s Day and reserved one of the cozy, private rooms for 4 of us. Their online reservation system is easy to use and superior to any other system I’ve seen. It even sends you a reminder the day of your reservation! We have dined there several times and are never disappointed! The taste and presentation of the food is always amazing and the ambiance offers an authentic experience. The servers wear kimonos and the dishes and teapots add to the look and feel of the restaurant. For this visit, they had the front door open which provided a fresh breeze and enhanced air circulation as we emerge from the pandemic. The food was served quickly after ordering and we all enjoyed the variety of flavours offered in the Bento Box dinners and sushi platters. The staff are efficient and friendly and we always have a great experience! We would definitely recommend YoYo Sushi for their excellent food, ambiance, and service! :)

This restaurant had some of the best sushi we've had, it was so fresh that it melted in my mouth. But, unfortunately, they lost a lot of value with a few things: the prices were exorbitantly high - all the special rolls were at least $17 before tax and tip. Additionally, the service took 45 mins to get only 5 rolls. They were a bit short and rude with us.

Cute little place and the sushi tasted great. Only reason I didn’t give it 5 was its expensive, but the prices don’t match their own website’s menu. Didn’t realize until I had already paid.

YoYo sushi is hands down the best sushi I have ever had in the GTA and surrounding area. The quality is always top notch and consistency from visit to visit to always the exact same. Definitely a place I regularly and will continue to order from. Update: review still stands and remains unchanged, quality has never changed and time and time again we are blown away with the quality and taste, despite the price, it's worth it. Love yoyos.

Delicious, one of the best Japanese restaurants around the area.

The sushi is not the cheapest but you get what you pay for. The quality of the fish and size of the pieces were good.

We come to YoYo to get the best Japanese Food in Georgetown. Frankly it’s one of the best Japanese foods in the GTA. Delicious and hot food, fast and friendly service and there’s never an issue with the food! They’re always accommodating even when you order 10 minutes before the kitchen closes! We will always come back!

FOOD:
I had come here on a Tuesday afternoon at around 12:30 pm for lunch. I had settled on Sushi Lunch A, which came with 6 pieces of sushi, and 6 pieces of California Roll, along with miso soup and a green salad ($13.95). I was impressed with how delicious the miso soup tasted; it was hot (temperature-wise), and appetizing, with just the perfect amount of onions and tofu. Also, it was a large amount, which kept me warm and toasty. In terms of the green salad, I wasn’t too keep on the lettuce as it looked to be red leaf lettuce, which didn’t really go well with the type of dressing. Also, the pieces were a bit too large, making it difficult to eat.

In terms of the sushi pieces, they looked appetizing however, when I had picked them up, they always broke. Either the fish part came off of the rice, or the rice broke in half; I’m not sure why this was always the case. Otherwise, the sushi pieces tasted good, and fresh, which was what I liked. In terms of the California Roll, the pieces of this roll were nicely shaped, and they were also quite large. I also liked how fresh they tasted, and were impressed at how aesthetically pleasing they looked as well. Overall, the food was pretty good, except for the green salad, which I wasn’t too keen on.

ATMOSPHERE:
When I had walked into this restaurant, I was impressed with how beautiful the decor was; from various cups and saucers, to dolls and wall ornaments, I enjoyed looking at the different Japanese pieces. I also liked the booths with the small cushions, which made it comfortable to sit on. The music was also pleasing, as it was classical music, which relaxed me during my meal. I noticed that the restaurant was divided into two sections, with one in the back being divided by a small door that was left open. There were also tables that were closed-off with a curtain which I found to be nice and private. The restaurant itself was also very clean and well-organized.

SERVICE:
Upon walking into the restaurant, I waited at the front where the sushi chef saw me standing. The server was busy taking an order therefore, the sushi chef told me to take a seat anywhere that I wished. After sitting down for a few moments, the server came over and handed me a menu. He was really nice, and even came to ask me how I was liking my meal as I was eating. He had a very kind demeanour, and it was easy to ask him questions; great service!

COST:
1 Sushi Lunch A ($13.95 + Tax) = $15.76

WOULD YOU RETURN?
If I am in the area again, I would most definitely give them a try as I enjoyed my visit for the most part.

Very good Japanese food and an even better atmosphere. Some of the tables are their own private rooms. One of Georgetown's best kept secrets.

First visit. Used Urbanspoon to find and was a good choice. Was not expecting to find this quality in this area so pleasantly surprised. I enjoyed a kaki fry appetizer and sashimi dinner and it satisfied. Service was slow but their friendliness and my company made up for that. From the outside you may doubt the quality but the inside ambiance was quite nice. Would return. 75%

The best place in town.. Although there is another Sushi place in Georgetown now. This is the place to go if you want good food. I go to both. But if I want good sushi, I go here every time. They have always been good. I have been going there since it opened. I hope they will keep there business with the new place in town. It is very good I think because the size of the fish you get in ever order is a lot and in ratio with the rice it is perfect. You taste the difference when you go here. The all you can eat is like store bought sushi a little. Please keep going here. I've been to many sushi places in the area and downtown Toronto and the quality of the food here is top notch.
