This was a random stop for food after a busy day. I didn't look at any reviews before coming here. More popular and fancy than I thought. I was unaware I needed reservations, but I highly suggest you get some if you plan to come on a saturday night. They luckily had one spot left for us at the bar, and service was great. Delicious food. We ordered 2 beers, the brie entrée, rib and chicken meal to split, and a Caesar. The spicy coleslaw brought some heat too. Enjoyable for sure.
First-time goer. We arrived at 5 pm and it was quiet. By 6pm is was near full. We ordered the meat combo plate at $95. My wife and I greatly enjoyed each and every piece we ate. Not a single complaint to be said. We were very full. Could possibly split that size meam for 4 people. We will be back. Thank you
Excellent food and a great atmosphere. I visited with my family many years ago when they were at their old location and we enjoyed the food so much that when we returned to town, we knew that we wanted to make another stop. The new place is certainly much more upscale in terms of the decor and while the menu has changed, the food is still fantastic. Prices have also gone up significantly, but that's expected everywhere these days.
We sat on the second floor deck outside and it was a fantastic space, with umbrellas to shade from the sun when it's very sunny out.
I didn't notice whether there was any dedicated parking, but there is plenty of free street parking close by.
It's not cheap to eat out anymore, but if you're looking for good food with a nice atmosphere, I'd recommend giving this place a try.
Food is delicious! I want to try everything on their menu! I've always gone there mid afternoon on a Saturday or Sunday, so it's always been quiet, but I can see this place getting quite crowded. The only issue is that the high chairs for the tables along the window are not the most comfortable so I always request a regular table.
The food was SO tasty! The service was wonderful. Warmly welcomed and very helpful with helping us decide. Quick to ask for second drinks. Didn’t feel rushed to leave. Will 100% return!
Ordered: Smoked Salmon Crustinis, brisket, pulled pork sandwich, Mac and cheese. All amazing and delicious items. Cocktail was a Mai Thai, which had too much ice but tasted good.
Very cool spot. The food was quite good, with several dishes being extremely delicious. The Mac and cheese was amazing. The service was also great, with the staff being very friendly. The shared meat plates, while being a lot of food, are great to try different options.
Discovered this place after a hike at Gatineau Park. The food was absolutely amazing. My husband had 1 lb of ribs with onion rings which where both delicious. I had the Stuffed Brisket Sandwich with their Mac & Cheese and it was the best Brisket sandwich i’ve ever had in my 32 years of life. The mac & cheese was also very good! I had a Mojito which was great and my husband had a local double IPA 🍺. The decor is also stunning and creative inside and up top on the spacious terrace. You can easily park for free in the surrounding streets. The service was great too! Fast, made sure we liked everything without being annoying like some places and coming over 4 times while your mouth is full ! Looking forward to our next visit to try their pulled pork and poutine.
The BBQ Shop is great little place. Nice decor, pleasant ambiance and lovely rooftop terrasse during the warmer months. Loads of tasty options on the menu and portions are generous. The pulled pork and brisket are delicious and fries are crispy. One of my favorites are the brisket ends! They are crispy and tasty and great way to start the meal. Takeout is also a possibility and great spot to order from when hosting a large group of friends.
Amazing!
Five stars does this place less justice.
I'm from Toronto and I must say this restaurant has some amazing dishes in store.
Really loved the jerk chicken.
Salmon wasn't as good but still very nice.
The Monster burger was really tasty too! Much more than the veggie burger.
Unfortunately they were out of the beer I wanted and desserts!!
It was a warm and inviting place on a cold snowy night. It has a small hometown family feel that I haven't experienced in a place for a long time. They had two servers working. I don't know if it was the relaxed atmosphere or how good they are, probably a combination of the two but they handled a full house with ease. They both were warm, friendly and willing to chat when they have time. The drink were very well made and balanced. I had a Smokey Old Fashion and a Peach vodka with ginger ale. For food I had brisket ends and pulled pork, creamy slaw and sweet potato wedges. I the brisket was excellent. The pulled pork had good flavor but was a bit dry for my taste but when combined with the slaw, that's were it was at and in my opinion you can never go wrong with sweet potatoes. I finished my dinner with a coffee. It presented as espresso and then you can ask for creams or suger. Overall I'm impressed with this place and I will come back. If you get a chance it's worth the stop.
A quick drop in after a Sunday hike. Hours are great and the atmosphere was cute (although I'm never a fan of TVs in restaurants)
My vegetarian *gasp* burger was great and everything was plated on boards. Great environment to share with friends - everyone can order something small to share.
Definitely want to go back in the warmer weather to checkout the rooftop patio.
The food was very good but brisket was dry and prices are quite high.
Ordering takeout was very confusing, I entered the building on the main level and was told to go upstairs to order takeout, but then they said it would be best to wait where I was at the main level... Eventually my order was taken but I was unsure where I was even supposed to go.
Poutine (4.6/5) was amazing, perfectly cooked fries that held their crispiness even after sitting in gravy for a bit, deep flavored gravy and generous amount of cheesecurds. A bit too expensive in my option though.
Brisket (3.7/5) had a great intense smokey flavor (similar to beef jerky flavor) but was extremely dry, not fatty enough and not large enough portion for the price. The chimichurri dip went very nicely with the brisket and provided the much needed moisture.
We were at the place for a dinner, with some drinks and the meaty big plate, which was advised for 2 but (depends) could be good for 3 too. The foods were amazing, the service was nice, just the wait time was quite a bit.
Food tasted great but was really cold. I liked the flavours and seasonings they use here. Drinks were excellent and service was good as well.
Delicious!!! I recommend. We had one of the shared plates and every item was delicious
The food was outstanding. We had the brisket sandwich with a side of the Jamaican salad, it was remarkable. The burger was also delicious . I would recommend coming to this place anytime. Limited vegetarian options but you can make a nice mealwith the sides
My girlfriend and I went to the BBQ Shop a few weeks ago and we had a bit of a different experience. We had deep fried pickles and the brisket cheese balls as starters which were both good. The brisket balls were particularly interesting and tasty and we actually never had this before.
For mains, my girlfriend had the pulled pork with grilled vegetables which she really liked (and so did I, I tasted it! 😜) and I had the chicken wings with a poutine as a side. Now while the poutine was ok, the wings were a bit overcooked and were not the best in my opinion. Maybe it was just the honey buffalo sauce combination that I just didn't like that much, anything tasting sweet on wings always rings funny to me. I won't put this on the restaurant as they are creative in their recipes and dishes, more of a personal taste.
Overall we had a good dinner, although I still think prices are a little on the higher side. Be careful on the menu as meat dishes are priced without sides, which are extra. My wings were $12 + a poutine at $10 = $22. With drinks and starters we ended up paying about $120 in all.
