Review Bistro Vitalia - Gatineau

Bistro Vitalia has an excellent menu, with delicious Italian meals in a cozy well decorated setting. We went for a work Christmas dinner with a party of approximately 25 people and the waiting staff and kitchen belted out consistently delicious food, and service. Tasty food, a good atmosphere, and friendly staff make for an all round great experience.

We were here on a Friday night, it was busy, and it reflected on a slow service. However, the staff was nice and the food was good. We ordered different type of appetizers, the hit were the deep fried risotto balls. The pasta plates had mixed reviews, but overall positive. The best plate we had was Agnello (braised lamb shank).

If you’re looking for an authentic Italian experience in the Gatineau area, look no further than Old Aylmer and Bistro Vitalia. The restaurant is housed in a quaint little building with limited seating but amazing decor. The menu is simple, which is often a sign that everything is homemade. In this case, it’s true - they make all their pastas and sauces. I had the gnocchis and they were fantastic, they melted like butter in my mouth. Even though it’s on the expensive side, I will be going back soon!

I finally decided to try this restaurant out. I had never returned when it was the previous establishment. I very much enjoyed it! The service and food was great! I till definitely return. 👍☺️

Couldn't have been happier with my dinner here. Food was tasty and portions was very generous. Also, the stuff was super friendly. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

I took my mum in law here for her birthday and the food was our of this world. We skipped the appetizers knowing that the pasta would be filling. I had the Pescatori while my mum had the bolognese. The food was perfect. When it came to desert I mentioned that it was my mum's 88th birthday and the waiter was quite receptive and even made her blush. I had the chocolate brownie which was delish and mum had the coffee cheesecake. It was a wonderful surprise when the waiter came out with a birthday candle glowing on mum's plate, she was thrilled. We finished off with cappuccino and latte. All in all a very special night. The wine was perfectly matched to our meal, the ambiance was comfortable and conducive to conversation and mum went down memory lane talking of her time living in Italy 50+ years ago.

Everything was excellent except for the calamari they were very rubbery. The drinks 🍸are very good 👍

I was not expecting the food to be that delicious. Honestly, hands down one of the best restaurants I've been to. Portions were excellent (pretty big), food so good, and Service top notch. We called 15 min before they closed the kitchen but stayed open for us. Definitely recommend!

Lovely dining experience - diverse menu and an attentive staff; great cocktails from the bar. Price (in the suburban bistro range) was not just reasonable, the meal and dining experience was competing with the higher end. Looking for chic AND family friendly with a diverse menu, give Vitalia a try.

I just had lunch at Bistro Vitalia with my partner. My bacon-wrapped burger was seriously the best burger I've ever eaten in my life! It was so juicy and a perfect amount of zing. Hubby loved his pasta, said it was cooked perfectly al dente. The service was impeccable. The weather was beautiful for a patio lunch. I can't recommend it enough.

My husband and I were there Friday night. Our table wasn't ready so we had a drink at the bar. To our surprise the owner Jenn brought us over an anti pasti platter on the house to make up for the wait. It was delicious. Our meal was superb and the service one of the best we have ever had. This will be our new date night place. I would highly recommend this place. Congrats Jenn you have an amazing place

Mon mari et moi avons passé une belle soirée, dans un ambiance a la fois bistro/jazz. Sans parler aussi du décor chaleureux marqué de toiles d’artistes locaux. Je ne veux surtout pas oublier le plus important...le menu!! J’ai mangé comme entrée escargots et champignons dans une sauce crémeuse aux saveurs incroyable, mon mari lui une poutine au Nocchi wow quelle decouverte inattendue, c’étais d’un délice...!!! Comme repas principal j’ai choisi le Jaret d’agneau qui etait garni de généreux accompagnements mon assiette etait incroyablement delicieux. Mon mari lui les pâtes fait maison aux fruits de mers...excelllent le tout accompagné d’une bonne bouteille de Ripasso (importation privé) au prix très raisonnable vue la qualité de nos plats. Je me donne un autre rendez vous pour avoir le plaisir d’essayer d’autres plats.

I took the family here to celebrate my moms birthday as she had wanted to try it. Apps (salads) were great, the Milana was apparently very good. but some of the mains were either average (carbonara) or downright awful (Parmigiana). I had the Parmigiana and the chicken was a texture that I had never tasted before....as my 9 year old said who tried it, it was 'crunchy'. I would describe it as very rubbery/cruchy, either way a few of us tried it and all agreed the only choice was to send it back, which I ended up doing (something I very rarely do). By the time I got a new plate (good 25+mins!, everyone had long been finished eating and my appetite was pretty much gone. The chicken this time around was a bit better but still was the worst main of the bunch. As for dessert a couple of us had the Crème Brule, it was one of the best we've had so that was a definite hit. It would have been a nice touch if the waiter would have put a candle in it, or some sort of gesture to acknowledge the birthday though, which most place do. All in all it was 'fair', definitely the Parmigian experience could have been handled better in my opinion.

Wonderful atmosphere. Service was great, very responsive. They serve bread while waiting. I recommend the Cielo, one of their pastas. A fair size portion, too. Their B52 liquor coffee � was a good course of dessert.

I really recommend this place. Good service and excellent food. The prices are fair.

We were regular customers at the previous restaurant,Ambrosia, and loved the atmosphere, food, and the service. Nothing has changed, very good food(try the creme brûlée �) wonderful atmosphere and fantastic service. Brandon, our server/bartender, was excellent! So happy it re-opened!

Excellent Resto que nous fréquentons depuis son ouverture par la nouvelle proprio. Service et nourriture hors pair en plus de décor de plus en plus interessant! Bons vins bonne bouffe soigneusement apprêtée ambiance vivante proprio sur place travaillant arduement tant comme serveuse et proprio avec convivialité. Aller est un must. Stationnement facile d'accès et amplement grand. Félicitation Jp/Mc

The service was great. The food was very good. For the quality of the food,the price was good. The only thing was that the tables are too close together but that did not take anything away from my experience. I will be going back again!

Je ne fait pas ça souvent mais nous sommes allés moi et mon mari hier soir au Bistro Vitalia situé sur la rue principale à Aylmer (Gatineau) et nous avons été enchantés. Mon mari a œuvré il y a longtemps dans la restauration et sort souvent dans les restaurant et il lui en faut pour l'impressionner mais là il a été très agréablement surpris. D'abord le décor et l'ambiance agréable dans un resto charmant avec terrasse qui donne sur la parti la plus joli du vieux Aylmer. Service sympa et efficace. Pour la nourriture alors attention. Élaboré et raffinée avec un souci du détail. Nous avons d'abord commandé pour se partager lui et moi une assiette d'antipasto et de calmars. Vraiment très généreuses pour des entrées qui auraient presque pu faire des plats principaux. Les calmars étaient frais et il y avant dans l'assiette d'antipasto de généreuses portions de fromage de chèvre, Mozzarelle et Boncoccini accompagné de mortadelle, proscuitto, aubergines et poivrons rouges marinés (à 12$ je ne sais pas comment ils font leur frais). Les plats principaux nous ont rachevés. J'ai eu droit à une poitrine de poulet roulée, farcie d'asperges fraiches, enrobée de prosciutto et agrémentée d'une sauce à l'orange avec un généreuse bagatelle de légumes variés et une pomme de terre au four aux herbes, fromage et crème sûre . Mon épouse a eu droit à une escalope de veau avec une sauce au vin rouge et poivre et fettuccini au fromage (attention les pâtes sont faites maison!!!). J'avoue que je suis un gros mangeur mais là j'ai déclaré forfait et demandé de m'emballer le tiers de mon assiette pour rapporter. Il nous est resté juste assez de place pour se partager ma femme et moi un tiramisu maison qui était comme tout le reste excellent! Nous ne buvons pas mon mari et moi mais pour moins qu'ailleurs (avant pourboire) nous avons eu une soirée mémorable. C'est certain que je vais y retourner. Mon conjoint à laissé un avis sur Trip Advisor. Nous espérons que ce resto durera longtemps!

Notre souper était excellent, le service était fantastique, ils ont même très bien réussi d'accommoder mes allergies au gluten! On va y retourner pour sûre !!

was at the Bistro with a group for my sister and I birthday last june...had the lamb shanks which were amazing! everyone really enjoyed their meal...so much so we are coming back this weekend!
