Review Houston Avenue Bar & Grill - Gatineau

I went there for my birthday celebration with my family! We had a reservation and it was a Saturday! The place was crazy busy and we were.told to order at one go as the kitchen was behind schedule. There was also a party going on the first floor! Our food tastes good. The portions aren't big if you are a person with a nice appetite. I felt my garlic mashed potatoes had no garlic on them. The rest was well laid out as per the menu. I tried the Brie sirloin steak, fish tacos, kids burger and kids pasta. Churros for dessert and drinks (Sangria kinda drink + bourbon and ice)

It was my first time coming to Houston. Felt like eating a good juicy steak. Honestly this is the place to be. Beautiful looking place with good atmosphere. Great service, our waiter Justin was on point and served us with a great attitude and smile. I'm usually a little critique on food. Everything was cooked splendidly,the steak was juicy medium rare as I asked and the vegetables crunchy and well seasoned. This definitely won't be my last time. 5 stars!

Amazing food great service would recommend this place to anyone the peanut butter cheese cake for desert was amazing and the lobster was cool to perfection just loved the meal

Had the beef tartar, my colleagues had Caesar salads and burgers. Everyone raved about the food. The beef tartar was fresh and prepared perfectly, just enough Dijon and gherkins. Could have used more bread but it was actually plenty because the dish was so delicious I could eat it with a fork. No egg yolk, but that is totally understandable due to the risk involved with serving raw eggs and really with the seasonings and doodads you can get past the lack of egg. Can't wait to try more of the menu. Thank you for a wonderful lunch.

Came late night and shared some apps and drinks with a friend. Overall, we enjoyed our meal. Nice, big and meaty shrimp!

Such a great atmosphere, our sever was super friendly and the food was amazing. I had the Mediterranean Salmon at our servers suggestion and even though I had the tiniest bit left I still got it to go. Amazing flavours, service, and especially environment. Would recommend.

Wow, first time here and absolutely blown away. Friendly and welcoming staff followed by the best steak I've had in years!! Good choice of beers on tap and had an appetizer followed by their 20oz Ribeye steak with porcini sauce. Perfectly cooked medium rare throughout, seasoned perfectly and full of flavor. Side of mashed potatoes and really well cooked and seasoned mixed vegetables were a great addition. Will definitely be back and recommending to friends and family.

What a gem this place is! Amazing service, great food and the ambiance is AMAZING!!!!! A must try, to fall in love with!

Went to Houston’s last night, amazing food and service, and great ambiance. DJ playing while we eat, Chloe was amazing and helpful server. Recommend if you’re looking for a restaurant to attend in Gatineau

Service was very poor in fact, catastrophic. We were 8 people, 6 of the orders were wrongly served. The food was less than average except for the appetizer. The steak was almost burnt although we all ordered medium cook. It took them almost an hour to serve the food. The worst part was we ordered a Diet Coke and served a regular coke. The person who ordered the diet come felt the extreme sweetness of the beverage. When the waitress was asked she answered that they have no diet drinks at all! Luckily the guy was not a diabetic or he could be in severe case! I strongly do NOT recommend this restaurant to any one.

Service catastrophique pour un restaurant qui etait vide....pour débuter je commande un de leur drink d'ete afficher au menu..il leur manque un ingredient pour le faire. Ensuite une attente de 10 minute pour le recevoir. Donc nous commandons....trio de tartare pas de tartare de boeuf....pas eu le temps den faire! demande des croutons prends 10 min a recevoir. On a couru apres le poivre toute la soiree et il a fallu demander le sel. Le laisser sur la table serait peut etre mieux. et offrir le gros poivre au moment de donner les assiettes. finalement commande un autre verre pas de pinot noir sur 2 choix de pinot sur la carte des vins.(en commande un autre)....celui si arrive a la fin de mon repas quand je l'ai commander avant mon repas (ok il me l'ont offert) mais quand meme. Filles qui travaille la c pas fort et le gerant a pas l'air mieux. Désolé mais il y aurait serieusement beaucoup d'ordre a faire dans ce restaurant. Mais le mi cuit au chocolat oufff il etait delicieux! (meme si il prend 15 min a cuire ) Pour cette experience regrettable le Houston sera pour moi du passé malheureusement.

J'ai bien aimé ma première expérience mais hier j'y suis retourné pour la deuxième fois et pour le prix (steak frite) l'assiette n'est pas grosse, la portion de légumes vapeur est minuscule et le tout était ordinaire sans plus!

Nous sommes arrivés avec les enfants et avons pris une table bistro... la serveuse nous a conseillée une banquette comme nous étions avec des petits ... après avoir accepter , nous nous sommes retrouvés à une table ( banquette ) remplie de vitre briser dans le siège , sous la table etc... la table n étais pas laver .... alors la serveuse nous a dit qu'elle reviendrait la "monter" ... malheureusement notre manger ainsi que les breuvages sont arrivées avant ses promesses ... donc nous avons manger sur une table sale remplie de vitre ... vraiment confo pour des enfants !!! � .... votre restaurant à un beau potentiel mais un grand laisser aller ... je vous suggère fortement de remédier à la situation afin d éviter la dégringolade qui est évidemment déja amorcer !!! La bière est bonne les jupes sont courtes mais ca prend un p'tit qqchose de plus à la survie du Houston Hull .... �

The food was great, the place was modern and very slick, however, the waitress looked like she did not want to be there or to serve us. If she would have gave us better service I would have given 5 stars cause it was almost perfect.

Look du resto est très bien, bière était très bonne, service exceptionnel de notre serveuse! Le manger était appétissant et bien présenté. Par contre, le menu manque un peux de diversité, il faudrait au moins un autre page pour plair a tous les goûts.

La bouffe est vraiment excellente. Très bon service également. J'y retourne quand je serais de passage dans cette région.

J’ai été chez Houston fin février pour mon anniversaire. La réservation était fait pour 6 personnes depuis 1 semaine. J’arrive là-bas elle me dit que ces écrit pour 2. Bon ok la situation a été arrangé. Ensuite près de 30 minutes pour avoir nos breuvages, 45 à recevoir nos assiette. Qui était loin d’être bon, du au prix! Pour dessert un mi-cuit, vraiment trop cuit qui as pris 45 minutes as arriver!!! Mais déception totale!

Excellent food, the waitress was bilingual which is great because I'm English and my boyfriend is French, great service. And the caramel cake is the bomb.

Food was good, I've definitely had better stake( was hard to cut , ) The service (our waitress) was horrible For the price we paid it was not worth it, could have gotten just as good food for a better price with way better survives , 1st and last time coming here very disappointed!!!!

Service beaucoup trop long plus d'une heure et demi avant de recevoir notre repas en plus erreurs dans nos plats reçus . Par contre la bouffe est bonne !

I had a good experience at the restaurant.  The food was good but the music very loud.  Our server Jean-Phillippe was very nice.  The atmosphere is great and i willbe returning...

UPDATE Aug. 2018: I was severely ripped off this week at that restaurant. I ordered the filet mignon burger. It was over cooked, thin patty and the surface of the meat was charred. They offered to give me another one to which I refused (fear of retaliation from the cooks). I left half of my burger on the plate because it was inedible. I told the waitress there was no difference in taste in the meat comparing to their regular beef patty. When my bill came, the burger was till there at full price (24$), no discount... just an apology. I will NEVER go back.<br/><br/> 50/50. My first time there was not a good experience. Our waiter was annoying, trying to joke around with us, acting like a used car salesman. He wasn't funny at all. I ordered the steak tartar. It was bland but the little salad that came with it was really good. For my main course, I ordered the bison burger. It was dry but the fries were good. Basically, I didn't enjoy the main item of my order but liked the side. I returned recently, the waitress was awesome. I ordered a steak and it was excellent, cooked to perfection. The restaurant itself is nice and the music was awesome.

Nice enough urban atmosphere and the staff were friendly and attentive. Ambience is cool. If you like open spaces, lots of chatter, it's a good place to go for a drink. Food is awful. Awful.

My boyfriend and I decided to try here for the very first time and I must say our first experience has been great! Our first thoughts as soon as we walked in was how modern it was and how much we loved the atmosphere. Music was good and not too loud. I had the house Cesar salad to start, it had a nice light garlic dressing on it which was wonderful. I then had the Houston burger as my main meal, I'm not much of a burger girl but this has got to be the absolute best burger I have ever had! It has on it a sweet BBQ sauce, caramelized onions and a delicious cream a cheese that blend so well together! I had it with a side of sweet potato fries. My boyfriend had the shrimp cocktail to start which comes with a delicious mango sauce. For those of you who do not enjoy cold shrimp then I do not recommend this as it is served cold. His main course was the steak sandwich which came with sautéed bell peppers. I quote him when I say that the taste, texture and quality of the meat was impeccable. He also had it with a side of sweet potato fries. If your a wino then you will appreciate that they have quite the selection, we order a Cabernet Sauvignon and it great. Service was great and fast. All around great first experience, we have nothing to complain about and can for sure say we will be coming back.

J'y suis allée pour le lunch avec les collègues. J'ai trouvé le service très lent. J'avais les ribs que j'ai trouvé trop sucrés et trop cher. <br/>Je préfère le Baton Rouge!
