Review Le Baccara - Gatineau

Went to le baccar on weekend evening after new year's concert with my wife. The service were flawsless and excellent! Cocktails were also very delicious! We ordered tasting menu, every course is outstanding. The menu also came with assorted artisan bread, tasty amuse bush, and super delicate chocolate truffles. The whole meal was bit pricey but everything worse it. Thank you for this remarkable and wonderful evening.

Exquisite french cuisine with some avant-garde concoctions. Go now and thank me later. We had the 7 course tasting menu and it was sublime. 5+ for service 5+ for food 5+ for cocktails An amazing experience. I will definitely be going back.

Went there for dinner with father-in-law and husband. Was surprised at how inexpensive the food was.

first experience at a french restaurant, ordered the five course meal. it was really a one-of-a-kind experience, the best service and food i’ve ever had. A server by the name of Jean(sp) really hit the nail on the head with his ever so polite and friendly demeanour. The dishes were so very unique and the flavours of the ingredients meshed together so well. Based on my experience, this restaurant alone would be a reason to take a trip to Gatineau. Also, one last thing to mention - the dessert menu only had mocha/raspberry&chocolate ice cream, but they accommodated a request of ours, and provided regular chocolate with a side of maple-roasted pecans. i must emphasize that the service was truly out of this world.

The casino's restaurant offer a surprisingly fancy meal for a bargain. You can enjoy yourself in company of your significant other in a beautiful location that will make you feel like an important guest, thanks to the impeccable service. Once the meal is done, you may enjoy yourself in the casino (which offers free refreshments while you gamble away) or head to the Aléa for a bit of dancing and drinks. This makes it a perfect place for date night or a good time with your girlfriends.

Great spot to get a bite to eat. Reasonably priced and the food is good. You can make a reservation ahead of time which I do recommend but on a Saturday evening I was able to get a table just after 9:00 p.m with no wait. . Very impressed and will be back definitely again

This a way overdue review, but a much deserved one. I was taken here for my birthday by my partner and didn't know what to expect other then the fact that this restaurant is situated in the casino. Our server was extremely talented and informative and I was told he has been at Le Baccara for years. His experience and suggestions elevated my experience even more. The food was absolutely divine and seeing as my birthday was last April (wasn't kidding about the long overdue review), I can't remember what I ate exactly. The highlight of my night was my adamant demand for Cheesecake that wasn't even on the menu, but was somehow fulfilled by our amazing server. That made my night. Oh, and you're able to purchase a bottle of wine and re-cork it to take it with you which was a great idea and was an incentive to purchase a bottle. 5/5

Enjoyed our dinner here. My husband and I went and we got great customer service, the food was amazing, very romantic and very calm environment, it was not too dark compare to other fine dining restaurants I have been. Would definitely go back here!

Restaurants can't get much better then this. My wife and i had the 7 course blind + 5 course set ( we wanted to try all the dishes) + 2 bottles of wine. Finally a $500.00 meal that was worth every penny. I can't tell you how many times we have had $500 meals and felt ripped off for the value, this was fantastic. Each dish was spectacular to look at, and tasted even better.

When you go to eat in what is supposed to be the best restaurant in the region, you expect something out of the ordinary. However, The Baccara is overrated and you will get better value for money in less expensive restaurants.

Absolutely Amazing. I go here with my girlfriend on big occasions. We are always stunned by the service, food, and attention to detail. Not to mention the beautiful view. Every single dish is perfectly executed with the diner in mind. It has set a culinary expectation so high that no other restaurant that we have been to has been able to come close to matching it. Great work and a true piece of art.

Absolute favorite restaurant !. I have been here a few times and I havent been disapointed yet. It is an amazing restaurant ! The food is perfect and the ambience is unique. The attention to detail they put in every plate makes them a work of art. Needless to say, it is very pricey but worth every penny. There arent many places left in Ottawa were you can have an experience like this. It is truly a place to celebrate an occasion !

Mixed blessings. I recently went to Le Baccara and had a mixed experience. First off, the room and service are wonderful and without par, offering a great view of Ottawa. Pity you have to walk in through the Casino and see the masses of the poor, tired, old, desperate and deluded patrons to get to this sweet spot.

Then there was the meal, starting with the "warm up" items: The amuse-bouche offerings were a delight; the salad from the standard menu was truly a work of art and so very, very good. The 'house red' wine was bliss.

Sadly, after this wonderful foreplay (can that be applied to food?), came the cold shower of the main meal. The presentation of the meal was great, both in its delivery and the artistry displayed on the plate.

I selected the young bison and was massively disappointed. The meat was tough and stringy - I felt like I was eating badly cooked stew meat, which was very surprising given that this was a baby bison I was eating (the horror!!!). You know when you have a piece of meat and you keep chewing and chewing but it doesn't yield flavor and break down? The supporting cast of vegetables were, in effect, flavored mush with a few green spears thrown in for good measure. Frankly, I have cooked bison and had much better results. My plate was 1/2 full when the table was cleared.

Two of my guests ordered the fish with shrimp. The shrimp was a jumbo and was not very flavorful and somewhat tough (large shrimp really prefer to be on the bar-b). Heritage potato was good and the main fish order was adequate. I tasted it and it was a "meh" experience. Nobody cleaned their plates.

My other guest ordered the duck and was well satisfied. His plate was clean, clean, clean...

Please don't misunderstand me, in spite of the foregoing issues it was a good meal and a great experience. But $400 worth? No, not at all; you can get better meals in Ottawa for much, much less.

I will never go back.

Been 4 or 5 times now. By far the best dinners I've had. Definitely not cheap, but you're getting value for your money, for sure. Take the blind 5 course and if you appreciate food created with an amazing attention to detail, you will be wowed. Go to this restaurant.

Wow. Went for a friend's 40th birthday. It was possibly the most amazing meal I've ever had. I tried foie gras for the first time. Yum! The service was impeccable and the staff truly strives to make your meal an experience.

Desserts were a miss... changed place. Was there last week and was not impressed. I have been a huge fan of their buffet and it was always one to rave about when it comes to their desserts but this time it fell flat.
Their dessert options consisted of old creme brule (go figure) and their popular cakes were decorate with 'happy easter' signs- mind you 4 days after Easter- :-(
A miss and a sad one...
will try and get over it and go back...

Wow. Definately pricey, but you pay for what you get. Great service, server explains everything about the dish when they serve it to you. Great food. Perfection.

My sister dined here for the first time and really enjoyed it. Yumm...was the consensus. She was glad I took her.

Simply Amazing. Without a doubt, Le Baccara blew me away. The food was simply amazing. That's it, end of story. What, did you expect me to elaborate? No need to, the Diamond plaques speak on the behalf of the restaurant. It is true though, you half to go outside of Ottawa to experience the best meals.

Expensive but solid. Had the chefs blind tasting menu with wine pairing.... food was very good, wines were excellent and service was excellent until the end when they took 30 min to get our bill... all in all impressive and unique for Ottawa...

Amazing experience - consistently memorable.. I've had the good fortune of dining at some of the best restaurants I'm the world and have to say that Le Baccara ranks among them. Spectacular food and courteous, well informed and passionate servers who know and love their trade.

Amazing.. One of the best meals I've ever had in my life. Well worth the money.

Amazing and unobtrusive, the service is truly five-star, and the food, while not cheap, was both exquisitely delectable and adventurous, just as Jocelyn promised.

After all of this dining splendour, I couldn't possible have eaten dessert. Some opted for coffee (which I heard was excellent) and I just finished sipping on my wine. No one ordered dessert, but while we were finishing up, they brought out a small tray of chocolates and candies. The tray was decorated with a beautiful spun sugar flower. A nice touch and a nice way to end a meal.
