We loved this place with the previous owner, but I think we love it even more now, thanks to the blood, sweat and tears the new owner is putting into it. He combines flavors I would never think to put together into amazing works of art. He's the chef from the old place, so now, as the owner, it should only get better and better. Lunch was exceptional, as always, and I wish we lived closer so we could come more often. Wish I could give 10 stars! <3
French bistro meets “Castro” pub with a groovy little Italy cafe vibe. Recommend travelling from anywhere in the world for this little slice of heaven in Gananoque, Ontario. Service is warm, friendly and efficient. Food is award winning. Cocktails are perfect. Patio is sublime. There are a lot of little stores and boutiques at your fingertips. The thousand islands are a boat cruise away. Great spot to start a day trip or end one.
First visit today. I was a big fan of The Socialist Pig, but I have to say the food at Laverne's is even better (and more creative) than it was at TSP, and it was darn good there! Chef Ray in all his glory has been unleashed on Eastern Ontario. It's well worth our 30-minute drive from Wellesley Island. My wife and I look forward to many happy return visits!
Good coffee, good food, cool venue, friendly staff and customers [usually] ... what more could you ask for?
