Late review! My boyfriend and I had dinner reservations this past New Years Eve. It dawned on us the morning of, that there was most likely a fixed menu. With us both being vegan, it can sometimes be difficult for restaurants to accommodate, which we both are understanding of. I called and spoke to an employee to inquire if anything could be slightly adjusted. She informed us it shouldn't be a problem, and after consulting with the chef, she ensured us they would accomodate our diet needs. We had the BEST service during our dinner and the food was absolutely amazing!! Being a past employee in the restaurant industry, I know our short notice on a busy night would have added quite a bit of stress on the kitchen staff, but not at one point of our experience did we ever feel we were a burden. We will definitely be back again and I highly recommend this restaurant to others!! Thanks again for a great dinner!
Having arrived early, I felt like I booked the whole restaurant for just the two of us. Food was suburb and the service was even better, being it was just us two. If you haven't been, this place needs to be on your list. The wait staff stood in our private dining room all night and waited on us like we were a King and Queen. 5 star food and service. L'assiette de charcuteries et fromages est excellente! Tout est parfait, service très agréable et terrasse superbe. Seul truc, la pizza pepperoni est moins bonne, mais tout le reste est BON!!!! À ne pas manquer à Gananoque.

My Husbnd and I were in Gananoque this weekend looking at the possibility of relocating to this beautiful town and, at the recommendation of our realestate agent, changed our minds about a dinner reservation we had made in Kingston and opted for Riva instead. What a pleasant experience. Lovely room with a gorgeous wood burning fireplace. Excellent food and wonderful service. I can hardly wait until we can visit again.

This was our first visit and we will definitely be coming back. From the minute we entered to the minute we left it was 5 stars. The ambiance was so welcoming and inviting. Our server Dan was outstanding with his knowledge of wines and the food. He was attentive and welcoming.
The food was outstanding - my shrimp pasta puttanesca was outstanding. My husbands short rib sandwich absolutely delicious.

The coffee could have been ho hum, but it was perfectly roasted and brewed, an excellent finish to a fine evening.
The decor is amazing, the wine list is impressive and the food is great. This place has a great atmosphere

Finally had the chance to dine at Riva. It was one of THE BEST meals I have ever had! Our waiter Jim was awesome. Cannot wait to go back to Gananoque and dine there again.
Literally RAN in to order some take out pizza's as it seems nothing is open for delivery in this town on a Monday night and we were about to launch into the baseball game in our B&B. Gorgeous restaurant that obviously took a lot of money to put together...nice vibrant yet quiet atmosphere. Very helpful and friendly staff. Beautiful Open Kitchen!! Gorgeous Place!!
Absolutely delicious thin crust pizza with authentic Italian flavours. Had the classico and the Bufala and both were great...nice crust and big earthy flavor!! yum

Fantastic meal. The atmosphere is elegant but definitely kid-friendly (especially on the patio with the fountain).
We shared four different dishes -- two primi and two pasta -- and all four were delicious and innovative. We particularly enjoyed the carpaccio di polpe (see photo) and the orecchieti with porcini mushrooms (the latter would have been perfect without the chicken). The ravioli were beautiful; on the salty side for our taste but still delicious. This is the real deal. Highly recommended.
Absolutely breathtaking building and beautiful finishes inside. Great wine list. Food was okay but nothing special. Homemade gnocchi was good but needs a better sauce. Would go back to try the pizza but would pass on the pasta dishes.
The food here is great! I've been twice and tried a few things each time and everything was fantastic. The butternut squash pasta was phenomenal, the pizzas are great and they have a good drink menu. The service was great both times and the building is beautiful.

We took the 30 minute drive from Kingston to Gananoque just to eat at this restaurant. While the food is very good, what makes this place special is the ambiance and unique decor - " Inspired by the osterias of Italy, Riva is a modern day take on a traditional Italian tavern, paired with nautical elements that remind us of what we cherish most about The River.". The rooms are big and airy with high ceilings and include polished metal furniture sideboards, ceiling and table lights created with heavy rope, a big manor style fireplace and more. The bar's ambiance in particular stood out. First we ordered a drink - three had white sangria and one a Minx (sambuca, fragoli liqueur, cranberry juice topped with limonata). We all ended up having a sip of the Minx as it was a standout drink. As it was lunch, we all had sandwiches - 2 had smoked salmon paninis, one had the daily panini special with pesto and prosciutto and the last had a braised short rib sandwich. All came with either homemade tomato soup or a salad (3 choices). The food was flavourful, the service relaxed and friendly - just what you want on a rainy Sunday afternoon. I was too full, but the others all finished with a bowl of Mango Sorbet. Lovely meal - lovely restaurant. Would love to buy a few of those fixtures as well.
