Review The Dip Pool Bar & Grill - Fredericton

Very slow service. It wasn't busy at all. ***Update*** (Removed 1 Star from 2, because there is no option for 0) 2nd visit again my judgement However about 10-15 tables available They decline to sit us for couples of drinks & nachos because we had no reservations. What I gather is this do not drop by unless you have a reservation. Funny i was able to get a table from STMR36 first they welcome my business & they accomodate me as I sat & watch the crowd at Dip 7-8 tables were still empty as I was leaving after having my quick meal & a drink. Unable to capture full pic on the other side due to umbrellas were in the way

This is one of my favourite spots in the city for a lunch date. Not only do you get to enjoy the sunshine and a great view of the river. You also get delicious poolside drinks, like the Strawberry Mango Daiquiri I thoroughly enjoyed. AND a similar and equally delicious menu to that of STMR.36. THEIR NACHOS, THO, PEOPLE. THEIR. NA. CHOS. You can never go wrong with this spot. An amazing team in an amazing hotel, serving up amazing F&B goodness!

Beautiful spot overlooking the river on a perfect August night! We enjoyed the clams (So fresh) with gluten free cheese toast - thank you!! The clam chowder was one of the best we’ve ever had! Our server was attentive and pleasant. It was a busy place and we can understand why!

Quite expensive. Just can’t justify $16 for a drink at a pool bar. $100($15 tip included)for 2 burgers and 2 drinks is insane in my opinion. It’s too bad because the patio is nice but just can’t justify the prices.

Friends and I stopped by for appetizers after some paddle boarding. It was the first visit for all 4 of us. We were seated quickly and our server was prompt to take our drink orders. The atmosphere was very fun and energetic. A DJ was playing catchy music by the pool. Our food arrived hot and portions were awesome! I had enough sour cream and salsa for all of my chicken quesadillas. Our server checked on us a couple of times and we didn't have to wait for our bill or to make payment. Would definitely visit again!

Best place to get that down south feeling in New Brunswick. Beautiful outside pool with a DJ, great drinks and food and right on the Saint John River.

Awesome meal as usual. Expect big portions. I had the brisket poutine. Amazing, but it is a sharing portion.

Planned a weekend at the Delta with the intention of spending much of out time out on the patio and the weather cooperated nicely. The first night was perfect. Not a big crowd and the pool bar was closed as it had rained earlier in the day, but we were able to bring our drinks from the lobby bar and had a fantastic time. The second evening was much more lively with the pool bar open and some great music. It was unfortunate that our reservation for a table on the upper level with restaurant service was apparently lost but we made the best of it. The only disappointment was our request earlier in the day to bring a special birthday dessert to one of our party who was celebrating a milestone birthday was also missed. Pretty hard to excuse this. There was a small wedding onsite and the group had reserved a table just down from us. Not long after those folks were seated, a parade of inebriated boaters started to make their way from the boat dock to the hotel via the patio, complete with coolers and beer in hand. Again, it was unfortunate that the wedding party had been seated directly beside the patio entrance and had to watch the boaters literally stagger by. For us, it was kind of comical to watch and take bets on who was going to face plant first. Most were wearing masks but a couple of gents gave a young waiter a hard time when they were asked to put on masks. Bottom line is we were happy with our package, except for the missed reservation, but I wouldn't recommend the Delta for a special event during the summer season. They do not have protocols in place to guarantee what should be a pleasant, non disruptive environment.

Terrible service. We waited over thirty minutes before going up to double check that there was service at the pool. Finally had a server come over to take our drink orders after another 10 minutes (no apology for the wait). Received our drinks and finished them and the server never came to check on us, meanwhile he was sitting down chatting with his friends. I got frustrated and headed to the bar to get the bill and the server asked if we were ready to settle. I said yes, since I can't seem to get served tonight, to which he responded "don't play me like that." If I am being charged $10 to sit at the pool and another $10 for a drink I expect good service and not a snarky response. As a former server I am usually quite understanding but it's safe to say after tonight's experience I will not be returning to the Dip.

It's a nice place with a relaxing atmosphere most of the time but the service is absolutely horrid. After twenty minutes of waiting for a waiter to ask if we wanted drinks I approached the bar only to be rudely asked by the bartender "what do you want?" but not in a helpful, customer service tone. After that it took 30 minutes to get a draught beer, and even that was because I returned to the bar and asked someone else when I might see my drink. The food is pretty decent, I must admit. They charge a $10 cover charge for those who are not hotel guests, not sure what it's for as there's no entertainment other than the use of the pool.

Went to the Dip Poor Bar for lunch today at about 1:30pm - not busy at all but it took and 1 hour and 20 mins to get our food. The food was very good mind you, but after waiting that long to get it, the whole experience was completely ruined. We complained to the server, who kept telling it us it won't be long and then disappeared for 20 mins at a time. There was no explanation as to why it took so long or even an apology from management....that will certainly be the last time I ever eat there and will NEVER recommend it to anyone. Very disappointing experience for what should have a nice meal!!

It took 20 mins to get a server. They were not busy. Ordered the Nacho tower after a 40mins wait we decided to leave. The server apologised wasnt his section. He said the beer was on him since we waited so long we never got the food. I paid beer and left a tip to that server.

We went tonight to celebrate a friends birthday. It was not a busy night. Quite simply one of the worst meals I've had. Really disappointed. I ordered the falafel wrap with fries and chimichurri on the side. The falafel was a very loose chickpea patty, the toppings in the wrap were wilted and bland. The fries had been reheated and were cold. The chimichurri came as a creamy dip and was also bland. It was not chimichurri. Thank god for gin and tonic - it was really food.

My friend and I drove from Saint John yesterday to spend her Birthday poolside. This was our first time at The Dip and we absolutely loved this little hidden gem. We were greeted enthusiastically as soon as we arrived and were offered drinks promptly! There was a younger man taking care of us with red hair and he was superb! We never had to request beverages or had a long wait as so many of the other reviews said. The pool area is like a little piece of a Dominican or Cuban resort and for $10 for the day, I found nothing to complain about. My friend and I actually were quite surprised the fee was so low to enjoy a day in the sun. Thank you for great service and a lovely way to spend her birthday. We will be back this month!

My wife and I had dinner there Friday night; it was not very successful, unfortunately! The service was very friendly but somewhat unprofessional. The food (lobster and crab stuffed sole) was slightly overcooked, tasteless and came with some rather slimy and equally tasteless white sauce. The veg were good; not overcooked but I have never considered one scrawny piece of asparagus, one small piece of yellow squash and a small piece of red pepper a proper portion. As well as the veg were cooked they had not been seasoned. I think management should make sure that servers know what ingredients go into a dish and how are they sourced. For example: our server did not know if the crab and lobster were fresh, frozen or from a can. She took a guess but she was incorrect. I think your cooks should know how to season the food they a charged to cook! The desserts were a disaster-uneatable! Strawberry shortcake-the shortcake could have been used on a construction site. It was as hard as a brick. The strawberries were very good. After tasting my strudel I was ready to go home to find something to take that nasty taste away. It (the pastry) was soggy, the filling was mushy with a very strange taste. The deck is very beautiful, lively and spacious. We will definitely return for a beer and/or cocktail but eating is out of the question with perhaps an order of nachos.

The server was really nice so we had a hard time complaining and I am not usually a complainer but we just had a very frustrating experience here . We biked as a family with our daughter with the thought of her getting to swim as paying customers, as this had always been the policy before. When we got there we ordered some delicious drinks and were getting ready for a swim but as my daughter was getting ready to get in the pool, we were told we had to pay a $10 fee to use the pool. This put a huge damper on our mood, and was very frustrating as we were planning on spending well over $60 on food and drinks and then to add another $10 for a swim which was annoying . We mentioned it to our server and she was nice explaining it...etc. When we ordered our food, we asked for a slice of onion for my daughters burger, thinking nothing of it , and when we got our bill, we were charged $2.95 for a slice of an onion. With tip and stuff, we spent over $80 and still didn't get to swim. A frustrating experience and sadly we will not be returning this summer. This used to be a favourite place to go with our kids after a nice bike ride .

We have always enjoyed our food and drinks when we go there. Food is amazing! Staff is pleasant. Timely service is sometimes an issue when we go. There is only 1kitchen for all 3 restaurants in the hotel...so maybe they need to look at having a second kitchen or more kitchen staff perhaps. Atmosphere is one of the reasons we've been going to this establishment.

I've been stopping in from time to time And loving it ..great atmosphere and even better service ..sure there is 10$ cover charge but I'd gladly pay for a day in the sun ..good music, food and company

We have a great night on the Patio last Friday. The East Coast Cakes are killer. The rest of the food was great too, but I will send people here for the Cakes. Top Notch.

Great place but... they changed the cover fee. Two weeks ago we went and towel fee was $5 now it's $10. A bit ridiculous. Also, I was on the phone and one of the workers interrupted me while I was phone to tell me that I could not use my own towel even if I was using theirs as well... not too happy with them interrupting while I was on the phone. Definitely will not be going back!

The Dip has been a place myself and friends would go to buy lots of food and drinks throughout the summer, but now that there's a 10 dollar cover charge, none of us are going to be going back. I can understand charging cover if people aren't buying drinks or anything. I went to the DIP a week ago, no one told me there was cover-- they didn't have someone working the entrance when I came by-- so I bought a $7 drink as I normally would to pay for being there, and invited my friends to join. When my friends came, they were told at the door they weren't allowed in because of the cover-- when I wasn't told about it or charged it, and then I had to leave or pay the cover-- when I just bought a drink in order to stay. So I slammed my drink and left. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I understand why you need to charge cover, because I'm sure lots of people are moochy about paying little and staying all day, but $10 is a really high cover charge-- specifically for people not buying drinks. Especially for people who just want to hang out for an hour to cool off and go home. Consider a $10 cover or $10-15 min spend instead? Or perhaps hourly rates?Just some ideas because it really sucked losing my favourite spot to go in the summer!
