Loved everything about this place. The dogs were a dream. Easily best in the city. I missed my Toronto street meat. But this blows them away. A must visit. Music not always suitable for the kids. Wu-tang 4life.

Justin Benson brings a taste of Chicago right here to Edmonton.
Mayday Dogs is located in the basement of the Mercer Warehouse; the destination for all things trendy. This is a tiny space with three stools at a counter and a mini basketball court with bleachers to seat the rest of you. The trophy case contains cookbooks, to snap-back caps to basketball shoes.
Mayday got off to a rocky start, but is now open 5 days a week to serve you some of the best gourmet (all beef) dogs in the city. The grass-fed beef dogs are made by the folks out at Pine Haven and go very well with the whole taste adventure that is Mayday.
The dogs are all playfully named after sports stars: “Danish Rodman”, “Korean-Abdul Jabbar” etc. There are 6 regular dogs and one featured special offered. We tried the “Young Chop”; American cheddar, bodega sauce, house pickle n pepper relish, iceberg, tomato AND “Korean-Abdul Jabbar”; Brie, Thanh Thanh kimchi, Yali pear, gochujang mayo, scallion, toasted sesame seed. Both were juicy and awesome. To top it off they had a special tater tot creation: “Sweet & Spicy Thai Tots”; salt and sugar coated tots, Kefir lime leaf, fried garlic, mayo & chili jam, cilantro. They were so crispy and flavourful. Try them if you can get them - I will go back just for the tots!
Mayday is also known for their milkshakes. You will all have to let me know how they are, I can’t sample unfortunately. One of them offers Hennessy and another Kahlua. They sound delicious.
Craft beer and wine in cans is offered for adult beverages. They have a small but decent selection.
A meal for two adults minus alcoholic beverages will set you back about $30. Not bad for a great cheap date option. If your significant other is a sports fan, even better! I wouldn’t recommend a huge group as this is a very small space. It is family friendly (there were kids there during our visit) but the music that is played might not be.
If you like Mayday Dogs, keep your eyes open for Frontier Handhelds which will be a delivery only sandwich shop hopefully open sometime soon. Rumored to be opening in the new Brewery District in Edmonton.

Is a hotdog a sandwich? I'd like to argue that it is. You see, a sandwich has two pieces of bread and a filling. A hotdog has two sides of bun and a filling as well. I think the owner needs a reality check because a hamburger is also a sandwich and a Chicago deep dish pizza is a casserole.
If you want a unique, soft, tasty hotdog then hit up mayday. Make sure you grab some tots, the sticky ones were my favourite. Hella insane milkshakes. Really cool atmosphere and space. Did a fantastic job renovating the space. Really hope to see mayday succeed.

Had the 95/96 Bulls Dog and Supreme Tater Tots. All I can say is wow! The visual presentation was spot on . It was refreshing to have a gourmet dog that isnt a greasy grilled piece of meat. The tots boasted so much flavor. Definitely will be coming back!

This was my second visit and it was still as awesome as the first time. The service is prompt and the food is super delicious!!! Good bun to hot dog ratio and creative topping selections.

Great location! The space is unique, music is loud, overall a fun pre-game pit stop.
The hot dogs themselves are small and pretty standard, but the toppings are top notch. The sticky tots were unreal!!

Loved their tater tots and milkshake! Tried the tater tots supreme which tasted just like taco bell's fries supreme back when I was a kid. You have to try it! Made fresh to order and some of the toppings are made in house and you can taste the effort. Tried the feature milkshake which was the Crunchie flavour and it was super delicious. Perfect milkshake texture, not too runny, not too thick. I'm not a huge fan of pork hot dogs as I prefer beef, but that's just a personal preference. The bun was pillowy soft and fluffy. Reading other reviews, I was expecting the meal to be over priced but after our visit I thought it was fairly priced for the quality and taste of the food. Love their ceiling detailing and simple and awesome logo, bleacherish seating is fun (my bf is really into basketball and he loved it here!) Would definitely recommend!

Best hotdog I've had in a while! The tots are also the best I've ever had. Great little place to get a quick and delicious bite to eat, I would and have recommended this place to almost everyone I know. I can't wait to go back for another meal!

The Hennessey shake is hands down awesome! The dogs are on point every time and the tots are perfect. Really cool spot to grab a bite and the staff are awesome. If you haven't tried Mayday Dogs out you're missing out big time.

There’s no question that they have a good product. The dogs and tots are delicious and they get snaps for presentation, however it wouldn’t hurt for the staff to work with a sense of urgency. There is definitely room for improvement in prep time without compromising on quality.
