Best Kimchi in the city!! Tiny spot (maybe 20 seats total) but yummy home-style Korean. This place is worth a visit for the kimchi alone! Yum!

Gaya is fantastic. Great genuine Korean food and a warm family atmosphere. Love the egg roll here. The owners are friendly and go out of their way for customers. Definitely get Gaya onto your radar!

Gaya is one of those University restaurants that pretty much every University student has heard of, being a few minutes walk from campus.  They serve Korean food in a tiny little restaurant that can tend to get really busy during peak times, which shows how popular they are.  The service I have had there has been fantastic, with a few of their waitresses going above and beyond to ensure a good experience (and recognizing their regular customers!).  The food is good, but not amazing.  A few dishes can be a bit bland and spicy, but they have good bulgogi and I enjoy their egg roll appetizer.  The prices are pretty standard, nothing too expensive, especially near the University.  All in all, especially with it's close proximity to the University, recommended for good Korean food.

Such a great place! So close to campus too!. I always heard of my friends going here and I finally got a chance to try it. To simply put it, I love it! The restaurant is only a few minutes from campus so it's easy to go and get a delicious bite to eat (plus it's not even that expensive). It has such a cozy atmosphere and the food is to die for, it's one of my campus favorites! I always read reviews before I go to new restaurants so I was scared to try this place but I don't think that person put salt and pepper into their soup like they were supposed to. The waitress was really friendly to my friend and I and even gave us sidedishes the next time we came just to get takeout! It's a small restaurant but I think it's a family owned business and they seem like very nice people.

Why was I Scared to Go Here? A Great Place to Eat!. This turned out to be a very friendly place to eat. The food is served hot and tasty.

I ordered the Tofu Stew and asked for it spicy and it was served with a bowl of rice and it was a enjoyable meal and the spice was perfect.

Definitely going back.

I really like this restaurant. Yes it's very tiny and yes it can get really busy sometimes, but it's all a part of what GaYa is I guess. It's my favorite hangout and I love taking my friends there for the authentic korean taste. I, myself, being a Korean person find it hard to eat at certain restaurants like Lee house or Bul Go Gi house because they have bad service and food that does not satisfy the Korean taste. I find that GaYa has no service flaws at all whatsoever. You're always greeted with a smile and they're quick on their feet. Food is fast and hot if you order the stews. I love their Stone Bowl Bee Bim Bop (Number 8 I think...) because of the egg! It's cooked just in between undercooked and well done, true to the Korean way of serving it. I like their Milkis, it reminds me alot of my recent trip to Korea. Also the pricing is decent for the portions you get. The portions are just right for one person to leave full, unless yilou eat a ton.. So whenever I want a little reminder of how amazing Korean food is, I go to GaYa.

Gaya is super super small, but not uncomfortably so. The food and service are good and vegetarian menu options are available. It just sort if sucks that there's no bathroom haha. Part of the charm I guess!

Small place but great food! Plus it was close to campus too so it makes it convenient for us hungry students. Price was well rounded. I love spicy food and they are just my cup of tea. Would definitely visit more often once school resumes.

The hermit kingdom. Gaya is tiny. Very tiny. It sports vivid pink wallpaper and one must go to the hotel next door for bathroom breaks. These are hardly selling points, and yet Gaya understands the evenhandedness inherent in Korean cuisine. Stone bowl bee bim bap is highly recommended; a hot stoneware bowl gives rice a delightful crunch and keeps the entire dish warm as one eats. Korean establishments are typically not well-represented among the glut of Edmonton's Asian restaurants, but Gaya represents the hermit kingdom commendably.
