Their tofu stews are on point. Full of flavor, easy to eat. All their dishes are tasty, and the kimchee is amazing too. Decor's not much to write home about, but you don't come here for the decor.

When I crave for Korean spicy tofu soup, this is the place I always come here. Came in on Friday night with a group of 2, it was a bit busy night, but didn’t wait long to get the food. I think they have more staffs than before.

Kimchi FREE – 4.5/5

I love all three kind of kimchi (bean sprout, regular spicy kimchi, and fish cake) and they are free and you can eat as much as you want. I always ask for refill for the bean sprout and the fish cake.

Seafood and green onion pancake $20 – 4/5

Seafood pancake is not cheap, but this pancake came with reasonable and acceptable amount of seafood. I love how they cooked the inside a bit longer than before (before was a bit raw/ runny inside but crispy outside) but still crispy outside.

Fish egg soft tofu $17 – 4.5/5

Not a lot of places that you can get fish egg tofu, so when I come here, I always get the fish egg tofu and it comes with a big stone bowl of rice. The soup was a bit spicy, as a spicy lover, I really enjoyed it but if you can’t handle spicy food, this is too spicy for you.

Hot stone port bibimbap $15 – 4/5

I can’t comment about this as I didn’t try it, but was told it was pretty good. especially the stone bowl was very hot, so when you close to finish, some of the rice got extra crispy.

Services – 4.5/5

Overall food – 4/5

Would I recommend – Yes

Nice buffet restaurant with korean dishes...3.5. We liked the glass noodles and bulgogi beef. the best. The desserts I think we're Costco cream puffs. The cheesecakes desserts were also prefab.... There were soups...salad was lettuce in seive.. lol.. Its a mom n pop stop..Maki rolls and fried rice outside the Korean dishes. Mothers day was 19.95 but generally 14.95 for lunch..

LOVE IT. The waitress/waiters are really nice and considerate. Although sometimes the food takes a bit to come, it's nice and hot when it comes out and nothing has ever disappointed. Definitely recommending to all my friends.

Like many fellow Edmontonians, I've been living in a state of denial for the past few weeks. Unfortunately, it's come to a point where I can't deny the truth any longer. Winter is coming. On second thought, scratch that. Winter is here. And here to stay. A snowy cold Sunday brought us to Tofu House, a huge, but humble Korean restaurant, for a bit of warmth and comfort. The restaurant is a former Swiss Chalet, located southside in a mainly industrial area.

I can give more than 4.0 if their service faster. Good quality food and nice service but sometimes they can not handle too many people even though they have a huge place!

The food was tasty and excellent, but we noticed that they increased their prices.

We ordered bulgogi, chicken and tofu soup. Bill came out to $100. The tofu soup is always tasty but the spiciness is not always consistent. Sometimes its good, but other times i feel like they put ghost pepper in mine.

Also when you eat here, you must, let me repeat MUST order the chicken!! Tender chicken that is battered in heavenly goodness that will satisfy any fried chicken fan! (Me!!) yummmmmmmmmy!

Also, the Bulgogi is pretty decent not bad.

We will definitely come back, for the chicken!

I was able to try a bit of everything and I have to say, it was delicious. I ordered a beef noodle dish and the seasoning was on point. Portion size was huge and I was not able to finish my plate which is quite rare. All of the dishes were seasoned to perfection and spicy enough for my palate. 1/1

Service was nice. Our waitress was kind and considerate. 0.5/1

The interior looked a bit like a western diner with the booths but also had a cabin feeling to it due to the wooden ceiling and decor. 0.5/1

Price of the dishes were reasonable and worth it considering how huge the portions were. 1/1

Would I come back? Definitely. 1/1

I've been hearing a bit of hype around Tofu House so I decided to give it a try. It was definitely a bit weird walking into an old Swiss Chalet, but they kept the same seating capacity of the Swiss Chalet. The server was helpful and polite, not overly attentive, but not bad.

I tried the fried chicken wings, the were juicy and tender, but a bit on the bland side. The sweet spicy sauce was on par with other KFC places.

The pork belly lettuce wraps were a bit disappointing; the pork belly seemed a bit dry, but the spicy radish that came with it helped a lot. I'd say take a pass on the wraps unless you're really curious.

The beef short ribs were extremely tender, I don't recall the last time I've had such a nice cut of short rib. It was a tad light on flavour, but still quite a good choice.

I tried the mixed meat tofu bowl, and it was leagues better than the other dishes. The tofu had great texture, but the soup was really impressive. It had a really good blend of spices that made it very tasty. The side dishes that came with it were really well done, although the stone pot rice wasn't anything special. But I would definitely come back for another tofu bowl!

One of the best korean tofu stew I ever had was probably at Tofu House, one of the new korean restaurants opened in the Southside Edmonton. The restaurant is quite big when stepped inside, with enough servers to make sure the wait time is fast. We were able to get seated right after we arrived, even though we had a big table.

So for my 22nd birthday I went to Tofu House! I’ve heard pretty great things about the place from a couple of friends, so I decided what a perfect time to try it. I went with my parents and my girlfriend, we ordered a bunch of food to share.

First off we ordered the seafood tofu soup and roe (fish eggs) tofu soup, the assorted gomtang (beef bone) soup, an order of pork cutlet, bulgogi, and lastly a whole chicken (9 pieces) thats half spicy and half just deep fried. When the food came, I was in shock at the amount of food! On the menu it didn’t say that both the tofu soups would be coming with a stone bowl of rice, we for sure ordered too much food for 4 people. LOL!

To be honest the bulgogi wasn’t that special, it was actually kind of bland taste in my opinion. The seafood and roe tofu soup was where this place shined, the broth was very rich, the tofu soaking up all the flavours and when mixed with the rice, it was just heavenly! The assorted beef bone soup came unseasoned and we were given a bowl of salt and some sort of bean paste to season it ourselves, we opted to just using a little salt, I quite enjoyed it, tasting all the beef essence lol (assorted beef included tendons, stomach, brisket and some noodles). The pork cutlet was quite good as well the pork wasn’t too thick, deep fried to just the right temperature, it came along with a small side of rice and slaw, which would be great if you didn’t want to share. Lastly the chicken, this was only ordered because of the whole “You Who Came From the Stars” hype about fried chicken and beer haha, the spicy half wasn’t too spicy which was nice and the deep fried side was just lightly seasoned.

For 4 people, the bill came up to about $108 which isn’t too too bad for a very delicious meal!

Overall I would give this place a 4.5, I would definitely return and try the other things from the menu!

The food is really good, but the fried chicken is a little bit salty. Lots of space, so you dont need to worry there are long line up at rush hours! Really love the tofu soup, the best in town!

This place was once a swiss chalet and I like how the owners are resourceful in turning this into a Korean restaurant.. The pricing can be high at times here and the selection is small, however, I must say I haven't tasted this kind of Korean food before. I am not sure if it is region specific food in Korea or other people just haven't been able to put these dishes on the menu. Case in point, the assorted beef bone soup with the red paste and sea salt. Or the spicy tofu soup (best tofu ever) with purple rice in a hot stone bowl. Cool, bro. Also, the seafood pancake with an over-abundance of green onions (which my Korean friend says to be authentic), but it might not be for everyone, so watch out. The servers here are very friendly (I haven't seen any grumpy Korean service except Don Day and Wing Chicx, really) but they don't really speak English. You have to repeat a few times to make sure they get you. No problem. Everyone is smiling anyhow. All in all, for all your Korean food junkies out here or foodies that want to try something new, be sure to stop by here and start evaluating whether Korean food in Edmonton is now (surprisingly) as good as Calgary's Korean food scene - variety, price, taste, portions, etc.

New Korean Favourite. Great food and reasonable prices. The portions at Tofu House are just right. Dinner for three was about $70 and we were stuffed and had enough to take home. The menu is small but sufficient. Tried the signature tofu stew; it was flavourful and actually had enough seafood (even some small crab legs) unlike at some places where you have to swish around to see what you can find in the stew. We also ordered fried chicken to share. I like the taste of the fried chicken and it wasn't doused in sauce, but the texture could have use more crispiness. My favourite part was actually the rice and side dishes. The rice comes in a hot stone bowl with purple glutinous rice and beans mixed in and side of roasted seaweed; waaay better than plain white rice. For banchan there was kimchi, daikon cubes, seaweed salad, and fermented squid! It feels like such a feast! Our waitress was very nice and showed us how to mix our rice with tea in the "real" Korean way. Service overall was attentive and not intrusive. I want to go back to try the steamed pork belly!

Korean spots seem to be popping up left and right in town. Tofu House (or is it Seoul Tofu House) is the latest to open up and of course, it’s located South side (*eye roll*). As everyone else will no doubt mention, they’ve taken over a Swiss Chalet – first time I’ve ever stepped foot into one of their establishments. The place is absolutely massive with booths and tables splattered everywhere. Not the best atmosphere but there were a lot of groups dining when we arrived on a Tuesday for dinner. There were a lot of Asians in the restaurant, a very good sign indeed. All the staff are Korean, I’d say very Korean, as the waitress we had spoke very little English and had difficulty remembering our order. She had to come back twice to confirm our order (after she originally confirmed with us twice before leaving). Common sense would be to just write down our order no? Haha.

Kimchi. Bulgogi. Korean fried chicken and bibimbap. Some of the more common Korean dishes and the most easily accessible for us here in Edmonton. What you need to order at Tofu House is one of the eight bowls of tofu stews. Our cold winter days seem behind us now and far long ahead of us, but try to remember this post when you’re craving something warm, comforting, and straight up soothing for the soul. Taking over the old Swiss Chalet space on the intersection of 97 Street and 50 Avenue, (Seoul) Tofu House a standard sized menu, enough to feel like you have a selection of dishes but not overwhelming as some Korean restaurants. Their main focus is on tofu stews, eight varieties which all come with a raw egg to crack into the stew at your leisure and a large hot stone bowl of rice.
