This place is a little whole in the wall restaurant who has the best hot pot! Been here at least 10x and its consistantly good! Each person gets their own pot of broth (you can choose from several types) and many dishes to fill you up. The basic concept is you cook your own food and spice it up as you wish.
During the day they have a all you can eat buffet and they also have a lighter night menu.
On friday and saturdays its open until 3am! We always come here for the late night special for $15. You get to pick 5 items and have access to unlimited extras like peanut sauce & garlic. The service is fast, food is delicious and the menu large.
Prefer southside location thats more spacious and service is more accomodating. Great value especially for lunch & late dinner menus. Perfect for AYCE fans.
Full disclosure, I have never before now had "real" hot pot. As such, temper your expectations of this review accordingly, but we had a blast. Our waitress was great and basically ordered for us, and with very few exceptions steered us quite well. For those not aware, hot pot is similar to fondue, only you have a roiling pot of flavourful broth instead of cheese or oil. You toss stuff in the broth, from meat to noodles to mushrooms, let it cook, then enjoy with a selection of sauces from the "do it yourself" sauce bar. This place gives each guest their own pot, allowing for much more personalized service, and had great variety. We (4 people) left full and satisfied. Full props to our waitress for taking a bunch of white people by the hand and leading us to deliciousness!
Best hot pot place EVER. the food is always fresh the sauces are full and things come quickly. The service is lacking but the food makes up for it. The value of the lunch special and late night special is what keeps us coming back. Best hot pot in Edmonton

I've been here a few times. All I can say is that I am remembering more bad things than I can remember good, but it's starting to grow on me again with that $12.95 siu yea late night eats hot pot (after 10 PM). The first few times I came here I found the staff to be forgetting stuff I ordered and I had to chase it several times. This is a common complaint for hot pot places. There is conspiracy theory that they keep the expensive stuff till the end and stuff you on the cheaper stuff first. But that didn't really make sense because this other time our table really wanted taro and we got anything but. It was a struggle to get taro. I'm not sure if they are out and they are too embarrassed to admit or what. That left a sour taste in my mouth. The sauce station is quite adequate and clean and well labeled so you'll have no trouble there. Be sure to get lots of garlic, cilantro, green onions, fermented bean curd, xo sauce, and chili peppers. They'll add a lot of flavour to the boiled food you have at the table. The cooked food selection was forgettable. With this late night price, you get a selection of 5 dishes and a soup of your choice. It's not all you can eat, sure, but at 10 PM, it's nice to stuff a few things down your stomach. I liked the shrimp and fish mashes and beef/lamb slices a lot. I actually wouldn't come back for a full dinner price (what, $30+ nowadays?) until I'm happy enough with their $12.95 siu yea to win me back.
This place is great. We go here almost every week for lunch. The broth selection was good and I always get the tom yum which is always tasty. For their lunch you can select any 4 items and there is lots to choose from and lastly you can select from many different types of noodles or you can get rice. The selection portions were a good amount and enough to make you full.
I frequent this place ALL the time! Best tasting hot pot in the city so far. Their broths are so flavourful. Lots of options on the menu. They also have plum sauce (haha) which I like compared to Chili hot pot down the road. Staff is very friendly but the service is not the greatest. Probably the only downfall! When it's busy expect to wave them down as they are all running around like crazy!
One of the best hot pot places in town. Fresh ingredients, great selection and soup bases are full of flavour and quality ingredients. The sauce bar sets this place apart in my opinion. The XO sauce they serve is the best!
Dinner is a bit pricey but if you've got a bottomless pit for a stomach you'll get your money's worth. If you head there for lunch or late night menu which is around half the price, it's still pretty worth it. The southside location is more spacious and the accessibility to the sauce bar is better. Gets a bit hectic when it's busy so the staff might forget to bring things around, just make sure to remind them so you don't sit there swirling your soup around.
We never had Hot Pot before until a recent trip to Tokyo opened our eyes! After a couple months of craving, we decided to try it out back home. Reading some reviews online, we invited some friends to join us at Asian Express Hot Pot for lunch. We were pleasantly surprised with the value of the lunch menu! The food was so good. I had lamb and beef which both were great quality. My friends had some of the balls (I will have to try next time!) and the fish was great as well. Looking forward to coming back soon for the AYCE dinner so we can try some of the more exotic items on the menu! Definitely would recommend.
Great place in good location was just iffy at first to try it because located by motel. But one of the best hotpots and original. Love the late hours here.
Very good! The restaurant itself is very interesting. The food tasted amazing and all the food was very fresh! I had the kim chi broth and it was really good! A little bland but added a little salt and it tasted great!
Tried their lunch special. Decent choice of soups and toppings. Variety of sauce in their counter. You have your own hot pot. The place is clean. Service was ok.
Bigger and nicer than the downtown location. Each table has individual hotpot for each person. You can choose between one full pot of broth or split between two different flavours. I would recommend the single flavour as there is more space for your food. There is plenty of choices to choose from but save room for the deep fried steam buns with condensed milk. They are off menu so ask for them. Don't be afraid to raise your hand to attract the attention of the servers instead of waiting for them to come to you.
Love hot pot. Got to love this place, service was fast, best mash compare to other hot pot place. Server constantly checking on you to see if you want to add anything else. Will definitely going back.
Better than the downtown one!. This Asian Express is in a much quieter cleaner south side location than their Chinatown counterparts. The concept is the same, and it's exactly the same except much friendlier staff and a cleaner layout. It beats the long drive to Chinatown and is a challenger for me for one of the best hotpots (in terms of decor and food) in south Edmonton (along with Chili's hotpot). Staff speaking fluent English is always a plus for non-Chinese speakers. Dessert was fine, though I felt we were pushed out even before our 2 hour limit because apparently our table was needed, so that was a negative. Considering it's location, if I'm nearby I'd go, but similar to the Chinatown location, I probably wouldn't go out of my way to go to this one.
So exotic and yummy! A dinner for the adventurous. Kinda like Chinese fondu.
Of course myself being plumber I would have to say the bathrooms are clean & beautiful with quality fixtures. (Oh and nice big flat screens in the dinning area to watch the soccer game)
The south side location is open now!! Food is awesome & restaurant is very nice & spacious.
Came to their grand opening yesterday,very nice setup, and everything was good, the soup base, the food selection, my new and closer to home fav Chinese Hotpot. Yay!!
