I've eaten at or from this restaurant at least 5 times now, and I have to say that I haven't yet been disappointed by the food or service. It is good Chinese food, and they are willing to make you items that aren't listed on the menu such as Mapo Tofu. This is especially great when you are hungry late at night given that this place is open until 4am *every day*. It is not the best Chinese food in the city, but it is good solid fare, and that makes it a far better option than the vast majority of late-night restaurants in this city. I do agree with others here about the location being not-so-great, however, given that there are a lot of vagrants in this area.
A long time go to for late night eats. But when even sober the dishes prove to be a greasy deliciousness. Top favorites for me are salted fish fried rice, beef brisket, spicy pork chop, peaches and shrimp. For today's Sunday night craving I got the hot and sour soup which was delivered on it's name. Had lots of tofu, mushrooms and shrimp. My all time fave is the black peppered beef chow mein. So good when covered in chili oil.
Took only 10 mins to cook and that's a plus.
Sal says : Just try it (3.5 /5)
Great hole in the wall chinese restaurant. In Edmonton on business and decided to walk to the "tougher" part of downtown. Worth the walk for sure! Although there was an drunk person laying on the floor, the food was on the mark and compared to Calgary, a very good value. Would have been at least 20% more. Food came out hot and very quickly as well. Will come back again!
What more can you say? This is one of the OG Chinese restaurants in Edmonton. Great for family gatherings or late night cravings after destroying your liver. We've ordered the peach shrimp many times in the past and for some reason they seem to have more batter every time. I'm basically eating 70% batter, 30% shrimp. Order anything BUT the peach shrimp.
Hii! I'm Anita~ I'm from/living in Edmonton, AB, Canada. I love to eat, eat, & eat, & travel, Kpop/Kdramas, & art~ This is a personal blog about my food & travel stories~ I hope you'll enjoy reading my posts, & visit some of the places I post about. Pls give me some feedback, or other comments/questions: missguomeiyun@gmail.com. Thankyouu :)
I've been here a few times and was never disappointed. It's an overall decent place for Chinese food and the price isn't too pricey especially in comparison to Urban China. If you're just looking for quick Chinese food that won't cost you a lot of money, go here. They're open late too. I generally don't really like the interior .. I think they're really due for some renovations but if you're only going here to have something quick to eat, I guess the ambiance doesn't really matter.
Also, I love how they have self-serve dessert soup and they always have different kinds.
I have eaten here over 20 times in the year that I lived in Edmonton. I have never been disappointed, even in the slightest. I recommended this to my roommates, my friends, even people who visited out of town. The portion sizes were larger than average, and the flavours always blended nicely together instead of that empty feeling you get from typical Chinese restaurants where it feels like they just throw all ingredients together at the same time. A pig like me can eat for $30 so that means a normal guy/girl like you can eat for $18 and feel full. So full, to the point of waddling down the sidewalk like a sloth, groaning and moaning like a dying whale with a bladder infection.
If I ever come back to Edmonton for a visit, the first thing I'm going to do is go here and dine in. The second thing I'm going to do is order take out before I leave the restaurant. The third thing I'm going to do is order delivery when I get home. Remember. Just because you are full doesn't mean you have to stop eating.
Please. For the love of god. Come to Toronto.
This is a place you will want to go with a group. For one, safety (very rough part of town), but also so you can try a lot. I have been here a few times everything is EXCELLENT!! It is so flavourful. It is also one of the few Chinese restaurant I can eat at without feeling sick after. This place looks rough from the outside, but well worth the visit.
Want to experience an authentic after hours Chinese restaurant? Then this is the place for you! From the vagrants on the door steps of the restaurant, to the drunk patrons within, this restaurant does not disappoint. An interesting dish to get would be the infamous shrimp and peaches. How or why shrimp, Mayo, and canned peaches work together is still a mystery to me. But give it a try after boozing the night away and I'm sure it won't disappoint!
Never had a bad experience with this place! Food is always good and hot when it gets delivered here and doesn't usually take as long as most Chinese food places do. Staff is always friendly (on the phone and the delivery person) and pricing is pretty reasonable. They have a huge variety of food to choose from. Also love that it's open late! Would definitely recommend.
Excellent service and delicious Chinese food. We have been going to all happy for years (usually late night after a few drinks) but non the less this place definitely delivers. They're open until the wee hours of the morning and there's never a shortage of customers; no matter what time you arrive. The service is quick, friendly, and the food is hot and well priced. Consistent and delicious Chinese food, the peach shrimp and BBQ duck are wonderful and fresh tasting. China town is undoubtedly the hot spot for hidden gem restaurants in Edmonton
One of the things I miss most about living downtown was the proximity to great takeout/delivery. All Happy was without a doubt my favorite Chinese spot to order delivery from. I would order peach shrimp, fried rice with xo sauce, chow mein, sweet and sour chicken and beef and broccoli. The peach shrimp is amazing, definitely the best I've found on the city. The fried rice and chow mein are decent on par with other competitive places - I would always add soy sauce and sesame sauce at home to augment the taste to my liking. The sweet and sour chicken was great but doesn't do well as leftovers. The beef and broccoli was standard. I do recall dining there once after a long night and ordering a beef and flat noodle dish that was awesome. Delivery service is a bit of a long wait but it usually because it weekend and they're downtown so it's to be expected.
The waitress here is young and not extremely attentive, but she gets her job done and fulfills your every request willingly enough. The place was quite empty when I went, but that only meant that it was clean and fast. I definitely recommend the Deep-Fried Chicken with Peaches and Salad Sauce - I know the popular dish is with shrimp, but I dislike shrimp - and the Ginger Beef. The Beef Chow Fun my friend ordered was also quite good, but she claimed it was too soft and quite flavourless. Their green onion cakes have a nice salty taste all on their own, and unfortunately they don't dabble in the sweet chilli trade - there's only plum sauce, which isn't quite the same. Otherwise, I'm anxious to return and try their Shanghai Noodles, or some of their other dishes. Chinese food is my guilty pleasure and I think I've found a great, INEXPENSIVE, clean, and delicious restaurant in town.
PS. Portions are enormous. Definitely order to share.
EDIT: I don't recommend asking for delivery. Although they come RIGHT on time, anything deep-fried will be soft and soggy by the time it gets there, regardless of the distance (I live downtown, about a five-minute drive from the actual restaurant). In the future, I'll just visit the restaurant, and I advise you to do the same.
Its been at least a year since I have been back here, but I just went here on Saturday night on July 23, 2016. It wasn't busy as there were plenty of empty tables, so we were seated right away. I'm not saying that it's not a popular place by the empty tables, it gets busier later in the night and early mornings. I went with my brother for a late night cravings of Chinese food. We ordered the Jelly Fish Shredded Chicken Salad, Singapore Noodles, Ginger Beef, Salted Fish and Chicken Fried Rice, Pork Dumplings and Shrimp Dumplings. Our food came out in about 10 minutes of ordering which is awesome because we were hungry. The pork and shrimp dumplings were so small compared to other dim sum places and it was $5.00 for the pork dumplings and &5.00 for the shrimp dumplings. If you are charging that price, your dumplings should be bigger than other dim sum places in the city. Besides that the price for the other dishes is about average with most Chinese Restaurant, but the portions looked a bit smaller than I remembered. The food still tasted pretty food and I was satisfied with what I ate. I would definitely come back but I won't be ordering any of the dim sum items on the menu.
A good place to go for a good chinese food after a long night out with friends. The food is really good and portion size is decent. Price is average and not too expensive. The place looks a bit dirty and messy, but that won't stop me from going.
Have been coming here for years and have always gotten great food at a great price with quick and prompt service. Love the fact they are open late as well. Favourite dishes are the hot and sour soup, ginger beef, special fried rice, of course the peach shrimp, chicken chow mein, thousand spicy chicken.... List goes on and on. I've tried the typical menu items to the very "unique" Asian items and have never been disappointed. They love seeing familiar faces in there and I've had nothing but the best serivce whether it's been sit down or take out.
Best Place for Chinese so far!. Finally. I have found a GOOD place to order Chinese Food. We ordered Ginger Beef (fantastic), Peach Shrimp (AMAZING--better than I have tried from anywhere), Chicken Fried Rice (Great!) Spring Rolls (Great!), Chicken Shanghai Noodles (Best I have ever had) and Lemon Chicken (SOOOOO GOOD!) I highly recommend this place, we will be back! At first I thought the lady who answered the phone was rude, but I believe it is just the language barrier. No hard feelings. The food is excellent!!!
Missy's review. Ok so the egg rolls are greasy as hell... You should probably skip them unless you are hungover. That being said anything else on the menu excluding the wonton soup (Hella salty) is really good. The ginger beef is excellent and the chowmein is good too.
Fast and delicious. Went there at 2am with 5 people. It was busy and got our food within a couple mins. 3 of us are of Asian ethnicity and we considered it authentic. Will definitely be back.
Loooove this place!. We've been getting take out from here for over a year and it never dissapoints. To me, unless you are getting dimsum, all american chinese places taste kinda the same and this isnt any different. But I love it! Sure it tastes like every other place, but it always comes piping hot, and it has never taken longer than 45 minutes from ordering to my door. Once I ordered and it was there within 20! The portions are HUGE. The signature dinner for four is the best deal, and sometimes we will add the peking style pork cause it is also delicious. The Shanghai noodles are the best part of the signature dinner. So tasty. We will keep eating there again and again. Price just cant be beat!
Awesome food & service. Always serving us promtply with a smile. Food gets better every time
Cheap'n'tasty Chinese dinner. Service is, as expected, pretty bad. Not rude, but abrupt. But that's what you get for a greasy spoon chinatown dinner.
Room is, as expected, chinatown dinner. Then they bought he place next door and simply cut a big hole in the wall. Everything is miss matched but relatively clean.
Portions are good, not too big.
Dim sum: The expanded resto now offers dim sum,. Everything was ok, but nothing was that good. They should stick to the basics, what they do best.
Late night dinner: this is where they shine. fast, cheap and greasy, perfect after a few to many drinks. Wor Wonton is pretty good. Pretty much any standard noddle or rice dish is good.
One thing, the original resto used to be a sushi place and it has very uncomfortable booths, not enough seat padding and the unpadded backing seams to be at the wrong angle. I always try to get a table with chairs.
Miss heather excellent food and well priced. Wor wonton very very delicious i cant wait to go back for more very reasonanably priced the best wor wonton ive ever had thank you .
I have been going to all happy for a few years now. I have to say my favorite menu items are the wonton soup and the shrimp in peaches in cream sauce(soooo amazing!!!) HOWEVER- I had the WORST service the last time I tried to get food from there. I ordered delivery which I have done 12+ times before and as usual was quoted the 45minute - hour wait... After an hour and a bit I called to see how long it would be, I was told he should be there right away. Another half an hour I called to cancel at this point we were all hungry and not patient enough to wait for the cold food. When I called the lady she was very rude about it. Then the delivery guy called saying he couldn't find my place and had been looking for half an hour! I asked why he didn't call me and he had no explanation. I was very unhappy! Maybe I'll give it another chance someday but not happy with how they handled everything. So my suggestion, pick up your own food or eat in!
Made me happy!. What a surprisingly great place! The food was excellent and I would go back weekly if I could. I really don't like chow mein but loved their BBQ Pork chow mein. I have never had a dish I didn't like, if not love.
This place is a problem.. I'd heard of All Happy from a friend. He'd raved about it being great for years now. Finally gave it a whirl as it's inexpensive when compared to other chinese food places.
Ordered up: Shanghai Noodles, Chicken Fried Rice, Lemon Chicken, Ginger Beef, and their signature Deep Fried Shrimp with Peaches in Salad Sauce. Shanghai Noodles were the best I've ever had (I swear they were lighter in texture than other Chinese Food places). Lemon Chicken was good (little soggy as it's in a heavy sauce). Ginger Beef was terrific (moist, great sauce, meat was a good cut with no fat). And the Shrimp. It's a must. There was 12 Shrimps of Large Size. Not sure how it's prepped, but it comes out crunchy and moist at the same time. Truly worth the higher price in comparison to other dishes.
Came to $47.00. Fairly cheap when put against other restaurants. 10% discount if you pick it up. Was asked when I could be there to pick it up, and responded with when it'd be ready. They said 15 minutes. I got there in 15 or so, and had maybe a 5 minute wait.
I'll go back no question. They had a monitor set up by the register that had their dishes showing with names beneath. That Beef Chow Fan (says 'Fun' on the menu?) looked really good.
They have their ups and down.. Their food is great sometimes. But sometimes its very irritating to eat almost burnt food. Like their spicy pork chop, at sometimes they burnt it and still serve it. I don't see why they can't just replace the food. But most of the times their food is excellent, at late night craving.
Worth the wait. Everything is awesome here expecially the peach shrimp
Good for that craving at night!. One of my top two chinese restaurants. Busy at night after the clubs so if you don't want to wait, go in the day time for lunch. I like the xo noodles and the iced coffee/tea there. Service is fast and quality of food is very good.
Only place that has late night chinese snack (Da lang Siu Yeh). The only place I know that has late night chinese snack (da lang siu yeh) and it doesn't disappoint! Love their oyster omelette, congee, fried intestines, salty squid and clams in black bean sauce. Open till 4 am too so great for after pub grub.
We ordered takeout tonight. First of all when I called in to order the lady who answered was very pleasant. Got our order delivered in 35 min. We got the dinner for 8 with 1 substitute. It was delicious. Every dish out of the 8 was warm and fresh and very tasty! We will absolutely order from All Happy Family again!!!!!
Definitely the best Chinese food place in the city. We have been loyal customers of All Happy for a few years now and it is always great. We have so many favorites. Thanks for the great food every time!
So good. I want some right now.
Yummy after-midnight snack!. When your stomach is rumbling at 1AM, this is the place to go! Great food, service is so-so but; who cares? You're starving!
I know I've never been to every chinese food resteraunt in town, but I can say this place is the best. Once you've been here you'll never want to go anywhere else.
All happy. Open very late, nobody gets stabbed ther.... good food too
If you are hungry at 4am this is the place to go. The best peachy shrimp in town. Fatty? Yes. Tasty? Yes!! Open 'til 5am daily.
Excellent restaurant. Highly recommend this place!!!
Consistently Good. Thier open late night. Food is really good even though they get a high volume of customers late at night from the weekend (Mostly from the bars). I would recommend having the Peach Shrimp, and the Crispy Chicken. I often get some sort of noodle dish as well, and add the hot oil into it to make it spicy as some ofthe traditional Chinese dishes needs a little bit more flavour to it.
Greasy but decent. All happy has some of most greasy chinese food I've ever had but it's decent since there is no other competition in town (trust me, I KNOW Chinese food......I'm born there). it's better than other so called chinese food I've had in edmonton but not great and don't expect service. I recommend this place after some late night drinking or when you need chinese food for the sake of having some chinese food.
Tasty/Cheap but maybe MSG. I've been to All Happy & ordered from them on several occasions. They are open late so it's a fantastic midnight snack place to stop in or order from. The food tastes great with lots of selection and its priced well. However I have heard from some of my Chinese friends that they use MSG in their dishes. I've noticed an odd FUEL like after taste in my mouth several times after eating All Happy. I wonder if that's the unhealthy MSG! I may have to find a new Chinese takeout place because I'm not too keen on consuming MSG.
One of the best Chinese food places and great hours of service. I have driven by this place a few times before and noticed that they are open really late so I decided to drop by one night after work and pick up dinner. It was past 1 AM on a weekday and from the area I wasn't expecting much since the outside looks like nothing special and there is a homeless shelter across the street.
I entered and found myself surprised that the inside was very nice and must of been updated recently. The staff were helpful and friendly which is pretty impressive at 1pm in a restaurant but at 1am? That's really impressive.
I ordered the deep fried tofu, chicken fried rice and a order of Chicken balls all to go. The food is very plentiful (easily one had dinner and tomorrows lunch) well priced and was ready in 10 minutes.
The deep fried tofu and fried rice were delicious and the chicken balls were the best I have ever had.
It's just amazing that a place of such quality is open so late and in Edmonton.
I don't like Chinese food very much but I will definitely go back to All Happy Family.
All Happy VS Garden Bakery. All Happy for sure. The place is A LOT cleaner (not saying it's sparkling clean), more seating, faster service and much nicer, same menu selection but better, consistent quality. AND no has been stabbed in All Happy. Haha.
Overall good. I really enjoyed this restaurant. The service was speedy and quite good. Travelling to this sketchy part of town was worth it for the great food. Very reasonably priced with amazing ginger beef and sweet & sour pork.
The food is very good, but their service is not the best. My favorite is the Ginger beef, the best I've ever ate. And the bad service, I don't worry about it too much , their amaizing food makes up for their bad services.
You already know about All Happy so let’s keep this short and sweet. Open every day of the week (typical Chinese style) and the only place, that I know of, in Edmonton that is open till 4am! The perfect spot to go to after your late night rave/clubbing/drinking festivities. I haven’t been to All Happy in years (probably high school was my last time) so I was pleasantly surprised when we came here for some late night eats. The space is much bigger as they have doubled their capacity, overtaking the restaurant next door (RIP, that place was legit). The place was bumpin’ and there was a constant flow of people coming in to grab their takeout.

All Happy is best known as the place to go after a wild, drunken night at the bar. They're open till 4am, allowing you to fill your junk food cravings after spending the night dancing and drinking your face off at Knoxville's or Central Social Hall. It's cheap, the food is served within minutes, and it's a delicious alternative to a packed McDonald's drive-thru.
