I finally got to try Five Guys which I've heard a lot about.. but they don't have a location close to me so it was hard for me to try it lol. I liked how the burgers are completely customizable. You can choose what you want or don't want on it. The burgers tasted amazing too. Mouthwatering. The price of the burgers might turn some people off. It's a bit too much ... if you ask me if its worth it? I'd say yes, but only as a treat. The fries tasted odd because they use peanut oil. It's a different taste from the common fries. I wasn't a big fan of the fries because of this. I'm not in a rush to try them again especially because burger joints and fast food places are just nearby if I am ever craving for a burger.
Simply put, a very good burger joint. Prices are a bit higher than your average fast food burger but it is money well spent. Staff is always friendly. Bear in mind, the burgers are cooked to order so you will be waiting a little longer than at other places. Also, if you have a peanut allergy stay away as they use peanut oil for their fries and have free peanuts to eat while you wait.
A real burger in a hurry. Had my favorite ... bun free with double of all the vegys and extra hot sauce. My company has theirs a traditional bun cheese burger. Staff are friendly, seating was clean, and my supper was ready quickly.
Hey, not sure why and bad reviews cause honestly one of the best burgers I've had at any fast food place. The wait is just long enough to cook your burgers from fresh hamburger which u watch them do as u wait. I've never waited longer than 10 min even when place is packed!! If u want a rely good burger that has not been precooked then this place is amazing and price is good as well. I've paid more for less at other competing burger joints and not nearly as yummy!!! When I crave a burger that I don't BBQ myself it's five guys hands down!!! Well worth the try!!! Judge for yourself!! Cheers!!!
Been there a few times now. If you're looking for a burger, fries and grease fix this place should fit the bill. The service can be a bit slow, it was the times that I was there, but the burgers are above average.
Best quick service burger. Alright. I'll set the record straight on the Capilano Five Guys. I just finished eating there, I've never written one of these before but for some reason feel compelled to now. I think it was the review from the person who went in expecting a vegetarian option, didn't know the peanuts were free and was surprised that hamburgers, hotdogs and french fries are greasy. Surprise! They are! Or maybe it was the guy who gave a negative review because there's only one ramp leading to the building and some random person blocked it off? I guess the manager of Five Guys is responsible for engineering the whole retail complex. Maybe he is supposed to do that between cleaning the deep fryer and doing cash out at the end of the night. Not sure if those reviews are real, or just an elaborate joke. Either way, it's the funniest thing I've read today. And so here we are.
I've been to this place probably 9 or 10 times since it opened about 4 months ago. Bottom line: the burgers are, simply put, one of the best burgers available in Edmonton.
They've only screwed up my burger twice, and both times were in the first few times I went there, so it seems they've gotten better over time, which is normal.
The meat is fresh and juicy, the veggies are crisp and fresh, the bacon is crispy and thick, the bun is soft and barely holds it all together, but somehow manages. Their burgers are honestly very good.
The fries are not. They are decent tasting spuds and potatoes, but when turned into five guys fries they are only warm and limp. This has been the general rule for the many times I've eaten here. Now I just order a burger, since the portion is large enough for me anyways.
Yes, it takes awhile to get your food. When its busy, expect a 15-20 minute wait after you order. The quality of their burgers more than makes up for it. If you want a hamburger in 60 seconds or less, go to McDonalds or something.
One last point: their portions are huge. The little burgers are regular burgers and their regular burgers are two patty burgers. Their smallest fries is like a super size at McDonalds.
And yes, the peanuts are free.
