Review Chinese Hot Pot Buffet - Edmonton

Munchica
For the price and what you end up getting, it's everything you could ask for from a hot pot buffet. It's a complete feast of everything you would like to eat in a hot pot. In addition, it even has all you can eat hot foods and desserts including ice cream. They have a sauce bar that has tons of hot pot sauces to self mix to your preference. They also have a non-all you can eat option that gives you a heaping serving of any five items including meat and seafood items and a soup which will also definitely fill you up if you want that option for only $18.95. Great value.

By far the best hotpot buffet I have been to! So many types of meat, sauces, veggies, dessert, and entrée to choose from and you can come back as many times as you want (although as far as my memory serves me, there's a 2 hour limit stay). The soup as well is unlimited, so you can cook all the meat that you grabbed. I am not quite sure how much it is per head (although I think their website states it), but all I know is that it's worth it! It can get really packed here especially during the weekends, so make sure to give them a call to see if they can get you seated without any wait or you can even reserve. I will definitely come back here many times over!

Great place to go for late night meal. We arrived at almost 10pm and the place was still busy. The waitress was quick and efficient. Portion was really good and of value. $18 for soup + rice or noodles and 4 items, which there was a long list of soup and items to select from. Note for new customers: your clothes and hair will smell after.

In general, I enjoyed my food here. The staff were very ontop of checking status of vaccination and were tough on people with suspect vaccination records. The food was really good. It was a little suspect how there were so many food options but only half the number of tongs. So there's definately cross contamination here. If that is something that concerns you. You may be wary. The boiling of the food theoretically should destroy bacteria. But personally I wasn't super comfortable especially during covid. The staff here and friendly, they can't see all the tables as fast with the large numbers and work they have to do. So don't be expecting them to check in on you until later in the meal. Didn't get a chance to check out bathrooms. The rooms are also separated by plastic curtains, that don't make it too intrusive for covid protocols. I chose your general broth, meat and drinks. While the rest of the food is buffet style. The individual pots are easy enough to understand. With one button to power, one bottom to adjust heat from boiling to simmer. I would probably come back. Especially for the delicious cake deserts.

This place is fantastic. The fact that it is hot pot and buffet makes it worth the cost. Everything can be taken from lamb to shrimp to vegetables. One thing I found particularly enjoyable is the fact that they also had some fried food as well as lots of sauces to choose from. One thing that lacked just a little bit was the service, as I had to ask three times to receive my soup, even though my wife had already received hers. That’s why I could only give it a 4/5.

I'm here almost every week. All you can eat selection is great for hotpot. Weekend lunches and after 8:30 PM dinners have a great 5 item value.

It offers great hot pot buffet. If you are not really hungry, come after 20:30 when they offer the set meals. You can choose the soup stock, rice or noodles, and 4 items of meat, seafood or vegetables.

Had the lunch special (broth + 5 items) here - the best quality sliced meat I've had from any hot pot in the city! Great selection available for the non-buffet. Service was really friendly, helpful and prompt (especially for hot pot, where servers may be less attentive). Great sauce bar with many options. The inside is newly reno'ed and quite modern. Will definitely be back (and hopefully check out the buffet)!

Overall the place was ok. Food wasn’t bad, but not worth the price. However, the staff and service was horrible. Barely came to the table and screwed up more than a handful of times. And the place was not very busy at all.

Nice bright spacious ayce buffet hot pot. Ingredient super fresh. Not much service but servers did come and remove dishes. Hot pot prices seem pretty high.

Been there for set lunch and all you can eat dinner buffet menus. Selection is great and holds wide ranges of raw to cooked food for reasonable prices, especially for the lunch & late dinner (after 9pm) set menu $14.95 per person. dinner is $32.95 and service is amicable. Would be rated 4* if only dessert table isnt usually as filled as you would like.

Chinese Hot Pot is my favorite hot pot place as it is on the southside, it is clean, large, open and has a large variety of food. However I took away points in my rating for the server who repeatedly, loudly and harshly told me when paying that the tip was not included. This is not the first time this has happened at Chinese Hot Pot and when tipping is optional and yelling at a customer to tip is not appropriate. I feel management needs to deal with this especially as it is the last impression left on a customer after what is otherwise an amazing meal. The food in the buffet is refilled, the cook selections would be filled faster and more often otherwise there is plenty of options for everyone. The meat that needs to be ordered is brought out with the soup the first time however sometimes the staff does not always bring everything that you order and we had a second order that we never received. Overall the experiences were good minus a few issues that should be resolved. I would return just for the hot pot but if these issues continue I might rethink my hot pot options.

Hands down my new favorite hot pot place in Edmonton. Chinese Hot Pot is located on Calgary Trail where Bonanza was and the decor and environment of this place is amazing - it feels like a "luxury" hot pot place. Speaking of luxury, this place is a little bit more expensive than most all you can eat places but I think its worth it. The ordering process for your drinks, broth and meat platters (beef, pork, lamb...) is like any other hot pot place, but they have everything else out (spring rolls, sea food, veggies, dessert...), like a regular buffet table. I enjoy this because you can grab what you want when you want without waiting for the servers. If your in a hot pot mood, check this place out!

With the closure of Bonanza earlier this year, Chinese Hot Pot took over and has renovated the place! The renovations have left the restaurant looking modern and open, and I was amazed at that when I stopped by with a group of friends on a Friday night. The restaurant was only about half full when we got there, and our table for 9 was seated in one of the booths. I must note that coordination between staff is extremely poor, as the first person initially had no idea who my friend was who had made a reservation, and the second person gave me wrong directions in the restaurant and only when I asked a third person did they say "maybe over this way" and I finally found the table around the corner.

The prices are definitely a bit higher than other hotpot places in Edmonton plus the soup bases cost money except the free broth. While waiting for our last few friends to arrive, we were asked for drink orders by two different servers within a 5 minute timeframe. I guess having more is better but still a bit disorganized. Their order process is choosing your own soup base and plates of meat that you want (beef, lamb, pork, etc). They have an open layout of various areas around the restaurant with trays of food. I saw all kinds of food ranging from seafood to deep fried appetizers to veggies to dessert. A lot of choice for anyone.

Overall I found their food to be fresh but honestly it's like any other hotpot place. I never was close to running out of soup like I have at other places, and the service was overall friendly and quick. Parking is plentiful but the parking lot has a ton of huge potholes - beware! All in all I think that this place is worth the couple extra bucks compared to other hotpot places with its modern and spacious environment. Yes you'll smell like hotpot after, but you don't feel like you're crammed in just so owners can make the extra $$$. All in all, recommended.

Located in South Edmonton just off of Calgary Trail, Chinese Hot Pot Buffet is one of the newest additions to the area and is definitely one of the larger hot pot places. Compared to other places, it feels more clean and more open and there is a larger variety of food to choose from. In short, their spaciousness and abundance of options won me over and it might just be my new favourite hot pot place. I highly recommend checking this place out!
