Review Mt Fuji Teppanyaki - Edmonton

Best in town! Sushi, Bento Boxes and more. This place is on NO food ordering services and is constantly busy. You have to sometimes call a few times. Worth it. Price and quality on point! Great place.

Well the food looked good in presentation and service was fine. The sashimi and raw sushi were the most appalling I've had especially at the price of $40 for a love boat.. I would expect it to be good. Wouldn't recommend eating anything raw here lest you want to be disappointed in the quality of the food.

Good sushi and Bento boxes! 🍣🍱 Deluxe bentos with lots of variety. The tempura is really good here too.

We've been coming to mt fuji for well over 10 years, in person at an old location and now take out from this location. Food is always very delicious, service is great. Everything is decently priced too so we can afford to go quite often. Oh, and the sesame sauce is addictive!
Lincoln Ho (YEGventures)
This is fast food sushi at its best. The price point is great, and the food is just as great. If you're looking for a cheap Bento this is the place. There are also items not on the menu board, so if you're looking for a few more menu items they do have a dine in menu that you can order from either for takeout or dine in. Their sesame sauce is highly addictive and great for rice. I've had there chirashi, sashimi, and bentos. They're great with substitutions as well. I've come back several times after discovering this location in Griesbach Village. The downtown location in the basement of the ATB Place only has the teppan items (like Edo).

Great tasty food. 45 $ for two people. Fair price.

We have a usual sushi place we frequent, but we were in a time crunch and we found in the north side hub Facebook page that there were many great reviews about mt.fuji so we were excited to try a new place closer to home. When we arrived was cool to see how they have the ordering set up you order right at the till once your ready we were greeted immediately by the staff. Once you order you take a seat where ever with your table number. We were with our baby and they brought out a little plate for her and didn't make me pay for a bottle of water instead they brought me a glass of water so that was a good option when she only drinks a few sips . The two (appetizers) Came out one after the other it was nice they got them out as soon as possible and then the sushi came out it was fresh and was very comparable to our usual place. We are happy to know we now have a new favorite place close to home.

This place is great, I've never had a problem. Not at their original location or their much nicer NEW place.

OMG...Best food ever and the Chicken udon ďż˝ to die for!

I was craving sushi yesterday, and they were close by from where I work. Ordered takeout and everything was delicious and fresh! Beautiful new location and great service!

Decided to try this place out and I’m very impressed with this restaurant considering it’s in the North Side of the city. I always order take out and I special order items and every time they have gotten it correct! Make sure you order a bottle of their amazing apple salad dressing too! Price is awesome for a Japanese restaurant.

For a fast-food style restaurant, this place is serving up some serious sushi and sashimi that easily rivals higher end restaurants in the city. Their rolls are delicious and fresh and I appreciate that they don’t mask the showcasing fish/seafood with too much sauce. Their salmon sashimi is generously portioned and melt in your mouth tender. I get take out from here regularly and I’m never disappointed with their quality and consistency. The pride they have in their food is shown through the care they put into presentation even in take out containers.

Its an overpriced Edo place, but Edo is better.
They also messed up our orders by adding the wrong kinds of meat on our dishes, then forgetting that we ordered drinks (and tried to make us pay for them again). On top of that the tables when we arrived were dirty so we picked one and asked two women if they could clean it. Both said yes and never did. Finally caught a young guy who seemed to be the only person that knew what was going on and he wiped it for us. He was also the one apologizing to us after our orders were a mess even though the girl at the counter messed it up.
I should also mention that the sushi was not good at all. It tasted like leftovers.
Overall not a positive experience. Won’t be back.

You don’t get better then mt Fuji! They have the best sushi for the best price assortment of different types not to mention their chicken and beef tepenyaki are amazing as well

I’ve been coming here for 7+ years food is usually really good. However I have noticed a decrease in customer service and significant wait times on food since they changed locations in the north side. They hired new workers who do not have proper training as I’ve had several orders messed up which never happened at the old location. Even when I place orders by phone way ahead of time I still end up waiting 15-20 mins once I get there now. Used to really love this place sucks it’s starting to turn into a place I dread going to.

I honestly wasn't sure what to expect when I came here for the first time and in the end I think I was a little mildly disappointed. They have katsudon with chicken instead of the traditional pork. It was alright. I had the beef teriyaki noodle. Is this the teppanyaki? It was ok.

The sushi was mediocre. The fish was sliced so thin on the rainbow roll I could hardly taste the fish.

The service is... well there is really no service since you order at the counter and go find a table to sit at. The atmosphere and restaurant itself is sufficient (lots of natural light). Tables were cleaned.

I suppose some people are happy with the quantity for the price paid. I left feeling like my meal was lacking. Perhaps I'll try again hoping that this is a one off.

Good pricing for sushi, fast food restaurant style, the sauce is to die for..................................................................

My. Fuji for me is always an option for a quick takeout option as it's one of the few Japanese places on the north side. They are however moving to a new location (still on the north side), by the Griesbach area which I think is a welcoming change. They offer quite a variety of all things Japanese but more simplified. They have traditional Teppanyaki if that's what's you're into, not for show but just to cook food.

I always tend to get their Bento Box D #1 option as it's good value for your money. You get rice, 4 pcs of tempura, bean sprouts, 4 pieces of sashimi and 4 pieces of sushi. All for just $15 pretty much a steal. My girlfriend has this obsession with their Cones and always get their rainbow temaki handcones. And it's always packed full and rolled nicely. And each cone is only $3.75. Another steal in comparison to most places that charge $5 per cone. All in all, Mt. Fuji is a hidden Japanese gem and is always a great choice if you want quick & tasty Japanese food on the north side.

A family rub Japanese stir fry style food similar to "edo japan" such as beef and chicken with rice they also offer various sushi and sashimi. Price is very fair, portions are good. One of the cheaper places for decently good sushi. At around 9$ for a rice bowl, and starting at 3.75 for spicy sushi maki. I often choose this location over edo when im craving a filling stir fry meal. Highly recommended.

I adore this place! It is easily my favorite little close-to-home Japanese restaurant to stop by for a quick bite to eat. Ever since Mt. Fuji opened their doors a number of years ago, I've been coming to eat here regularly with friends. Not only is it conveniently located for me, but it is also pretty good quality overall for a very reasonable price.

I've honestly tried almost everything on the menu by now, and I have no complaints about any of the dishes. Considering it is somewhat "fast-food" style of sushi and Japanese cuisine known as "Teppan-yaki," it is very well done. I far prefer eating here than say at, Edo Japan or Tokyo Express, no questions asked.

I really love the beef teriyaki, sushi rolls, and bento boxes in particular. They are always dependably tasty, though I find that sometimes the sashimi can be a bit inconsistent in quality. One thing I do wish they had was teriyaki sauce offered with the teriyaki dishes, as they only really offer customers sesame sauce. While I find that many appreciate the sesame sauce, I prefer the teriyaki only, so having to ask for it every time is a bit of an annoyance.

Mt. Fuji is a phenomenal place to go for lunch, and I often go with friends to get my sushi fix. Just be cautious if attempting to dine during prime lunchtime hours, as it is often packed with military personnel all enjoying their lunch meal conveniently as well. Parking can also be trying, as there is not a lot of parking for this 40-seater restaurant during busy times considering the other businesses share parking in the same area.

Keep in mind they do offer take-out options though if you don't feel like dining in or are in a hurry. Another additional option is the party tray that they can make if you decide to order one for a party or gathering that you'd like to have. Overall, I highly recommend you try out the food here!

Oh Mt. Fuji... I have to say that this location is a residential gem and I actually never get sick of the menu here, HA I'm such a pig. Staff is always friendly and familiar. Never had any temaki or sashimi here but I've had some of the maki, lots of salmon skin maki (BC ROLL

I've been here a few times whenever I felt like some Japanese food. It's not as high quality as some of the other Japanese restaurants in the city, but very reasonable for their prices. I tried the Beef and Chicken Teppan-Yaki and it was quite delicious and filling. Definitely way better than going to somewhere like Edo. The maki is decent as well...I got some chop chop maki to round out the meal. Overall, quite happy with this place for some fast Japanese food with decent quality.

MAY2017 -Finally a new location! This place still offers the great food and now a more welcoming, updated location! The wait times for dine-in were a big on the long side. Hopefully once they get settled and get in the hang of things everything will pull together.

NOV2015 -Over the past three years I've frequented this location every couple of months. For the prices that are offered here, I can eat like a Queen! Walk in hungry, and leaving stuffed! The Beef Teriyaki is really good! I love the sesame sauce as well!!! The only negative I can say is the place needs a make over. The orange walls and fabric display photos just are cutting it anymore.

Love Mt. Fuji!
This is mine and my husband's go to. The food is delicious, the service is always friendly and the prices are reasonable. I could go on and on with good things to say about it. Our favourites are the Spider Maki, Dynamite Maki, Spicy Tuna Rolls and the Beef Teriyaki.
Yolanda Chang
One of my favorite places to get quick and tasty sushi! The quality is not as good as the high end sushi restaurants, but the price makes it very reasonable for the quality you do get.

The rolls are done well, fresh. Rice is not hard or overcooked. Nor is it overly seasoned. The fish is quite good for the price, any fried items (dynamite, spider roll etc.) is fresh and crispy, not soggy or chewy.

Overall a nice place for decent sushi!
Jonas
Good. For fast food japanese this place take the cake I had the beef suykiyaki which was a huh portion and matched with the sesame sauce it delicious couldn't stop eating even after I was full. I also had the dynamite roll another fantastic dish all In all this place is great would definitely go back .
Carla_hartnet
Great food, great prices. I love visiting this place for lunch, prices are reasonable and portions are generous. =)
Boomerang84
Love it. The best sushi that I've ever had, service is quick. Decent price, will be back for sure :)

Chirashi was definetely NOT worth the money. The fish wasnt fresh at all.... sashimi is supposed to "melt in your mouth" but these ones were chewy.. The octopus was extremely rubbery and hard to eat. Once I bit into it, there was what seemed to be ice water that came out of it. Not sushi rice, just regular steamed rice. Extremely disappointed. The amount and quality of fish that you get from this order.. DEFINETELY NOT worth it.
Eugenio_koh
Awesome service!!!. After a bad experience from japanese village at 137ave NW. we were really craving for sushi. And I might say the service is simple and great, not to shabby with the ambience but the food is great and the price. It was a date night and we wanted something classy but JApanese Village restaurant spoiled it. BUt the service and quality food at mt. fuji compensated everything!

Japanese food is my ultimate favorite. So when I moved to Edmonton, I really searched for good Japanese restaurants. I have been trying out a few restos based on their reviews so I came to Mt. Fuji. To cut the long story short, I did not enjoy my visit. Fast food resto, yes. The food wasn't as spectacular as I expected. I don't think the fish they use is fresh. I guess my search for the best Japanese resto in town goes on.

Favorite in the North. My family and I visit Mt. Fuji often, we love their sushi as well as the cooked menu items. The food is always made fresh and quickly. It's not a fancy place, but it has good food and that's what matters!
Conjr_111
I love the food here. It's quick and fresh. The prices are very reasonable and they have awesome steak sauce.
James
It's a fast food restaurant, so there's no service, or Japanese atmosphere. Food is decent compared to ready made sushi or other fast food sushi places. The pictures of menu overhead was nice except they must have ran out of varieties and I didn't get what the picture depicted. While I was very disappointed in the sushi, their maki was passable, and chicken was okay. Mt Fuji is recommended only if you're desperate for fast food Japanese.
Rebecca
Yummmmmm! I loveee the beef and chicken with sesame sauce. I'm originally from Vancouver so I don't like the sushi here (or anywhere in Edmonton). Portion sizes are awesome as is the service!! Craving it right now
Brandon Ethier
Haven't tried the sushi yet, because the beef
Teriyaki with shrimp is to die for!
Fav Japanese in North Edmonton.
Michael
You get what you pay for... Decided to try Mt.Fuji after reading some reviews on Urbanspoon. Majority of the rolls we ordered tasted stale and bland, the tempura shrimp were soggy, and the tables were dirty. I would not recommend Mt Fuji .. The only thing that tasted normal was the soy sauce.
Carissa A
Had the teriyaki chicken last night. Waa sceptical at first because of some reviews but i feel like the restaurant has rrsponded very well to others comments. Restaurant looked clean (someone was sweeping the rugs even). The staff very really friendly and seemed happy.the dish was a great portion, steaming hot, meat wasnt processed or fatty, sauces and flavour delicious, veggies fresh, great price. Will definitely order again.
Sushilover
Not so great. I was craving quick sashimi and some rainbow rolls and stopped in as it was on my way, and the rainbow rolls were soggy on the inside, and both the fish on top of the rolls and the sashimi i ordered had a strong smelly fish odor, and the sashimi was noticably warmer than room temperature...it was gross. maybe their cooked dishes are better? but i would not recommend mt fuji for anyone who is craving sushi
BananaRocket
Ok food. Service is ok, It's order and pick up at the counter so there is so service to speak of.

Room is old and tired. There was a attempt to make it look like a old wooden house but it pretty battered and needs a huge face lift.

Portions are good for the price.

There is nothing special about this place other than it's the only place to get sushi on the far north end central end of town.

This place is really good, staff is always friendly and food never disappointing it's the reason why I've been going here since I was a kid.

Reliable. This place is consistent and quick. First time you are here the set up can be a little confusing as the photo menu is limited. Take your time and look over the paper menu to see what you want. One of the Bento Box D is just right. Mt. Fuji is like a Japanese family dinning restaurant but a food court "Tokyo Express" thankfully it is not. It is better than that but if you want a nice date night out there are probably better choices for you. I come here often and enjoy what I have.

Being from Vancouver and near the ocean, I have a love of fresh sushi. Was hesitant to try sushi in Alberta, but absolutely love what I have tried here so far! Great service and great sushi!
Kdub90
Meh at service, no smiles anywhere, no thanks for tip, and meh at sushi
John P.
Food was ok but very expensive for what you got. Cost my wife and I $65 for lunch and was not full when we left.
ILIKEFASTFOOD12345
Poor service. Sloppy at best.. Especially the black guy. He gives you a rude attitude when his frustrated at something. His taking his anger out on people. Their tempura is soggy sometimes and the place is dirty during the winter. It's like they never cleaned up the place. Also they give you a small portion of sashima and the worst part of it is that sometimes its dry.....Also their rice is watery most of the time and it doesn't go well with over sauced chicken and beef . At some point I even saw them drop a portion of the food and put it back as if nothing ever happened. Really this place should be inspected more than once a month. There goes my two cents. You really pay what you eat.
Amy N
Mediocore. I think this place is ok, go there for the teriaki's instead of the sushi as i think thats what they do better at this resturant!
Allaria
Fast and Decently Priced. This place is pretty good for Japanese that is cheaper. Their food is really good and they give good portions.

I wish that their sashimi was a little more fresh and the slices were slightly bigger but you are basically getting what you pay for. Their udon noodles arent not even close to authentic, and the soup base is okay, nothing speical. Other than that I love the teriyaki chicken or beef. the chop chop cones, and thier rolls.
PSD
Terrible Japanese food. They use instant udon noodles, the taste of the broth is so obvious. For sushi veterans out there I do NOT recommend this place. The tempura were soggy. I would compare this place to Tokyo Express. Take your money else where!
Rebecca
FAV. I love love love Mt. Fuji. The service is great, especially from the guy who only works a couple times a week. The other comments are totally right, the one who kinda looks like Ryan Gosling! He should work even more. I love his no-nonsense attitude. You can tell it helps to keep the place running in a timely manner. The food is always fantastic, I've been going there for about 5 years now and I've never been disappointed. The spicy tuna rolls are my favourite. The restaurant itself is always very clean. Just LOVE IT.
Janet
DELISH. WOW! Great North Edmonton sushi. Fast and efficient service by a guy that looked like Ryan Gosling!!

Definitely try their rainbow rolls and DON'T skip out on their sesame sauce.
Christine Rossi
The best. My favourite restaurant! My favourite is the chicken teriyaki with lots of sesame sauce!! Great service, including the Ryan Gosling look-a-like.
Olivia Bond
Favourite sushi in the city. Really good service, delicious food. All the servers are extremely polite and great at giving recommendations for those who haven't a clue about sushi. Will definitely go again.

Great Place!. Been going here since I moved into the area. Great food and good price. Chicken Katsu is so good. Mexican Maki is awesome. Beef and Chicken Teriyaki is good. You can't go wrong here. Highly recommended!

What's wrong with you people?. I'm talking to my friends who think this place is just another "Tokyo Sushi Express" or "Banzai".

The food quality is like I Love Sushi man... I'd do it up easily any day. OK OK maybe I exaggerated, it's slightly less awesome than I Love Sushi but it is a whole lot better to any "fast food / eat-in / take-out" sushi place.

For the price I pay for here, I can eat like a King. It's pretty awesome. For those of you who want an authentic Japanese experience, this is not it, but it certainly is good enough for most Edmontonians.

I would come back again because I'm cheap and I like good food. The two combined make me real warm and fuzzy inside.
Hydroapo
Fast food sushi. For the time it takes to make, this place is your best bet for some FAST sushi or rice/noodle dishes The quality isn't necessarily outstanding, but hey, sushi's sushi, right? As well, their noodle/rice sauces are pretty awesome. Recommended dishes as always: Rainbow, Mexican, Chop chop, and Spicy Tuna. Yum.
Randi
I love the teriyaki stirfrys. Delicious and fresh tasting. Prices are very reasonable. A great choice for healthy takeout
Lindork
I love this place! Great Japanese food, great price!!! My fiance and I went here for our first date and still go for all anniversary-type occasions! Always a great time :)

Delicious Sushi. Love the food and prices are great!

Hahaha. What an epic review below. For the wrong location. I'm just adding a positive review to THIS location to balance the "special" one.
