The service is good and the staff are friendly. But as a Persian from Vancouver where we have a number of great Persian restaurants, I have to say that there are a number of huge setbacks!
First and foremost, the dishes are very expensive! Yes I said it. Even by Vancouver standards, they are way over-priced!
Secondly, the portions are too small! The rice is not included with the stew, and if you do that in a Persian place in Toronto or Vancouver then you're pretty much out of business. He kabobs are also half the length of an ordinary fully-fledged Persian skewer and it leaves you wondering why did you pay more than 20 dollars for a single kabob dish!
I suspect that Sabzy has capped the market here because we don't have a lot of Persians here and others might not know how Persian food is served and priced in other Canadian cities with more sizeable Persian residents, grocery stores, and most importantly, Persian restaurants.
If anyone does not believe me then you can try Kazbah in North Vancouver and Vancouver, try out the food, see the portions, check your bills, and see where things went South in Sabzy!

This place is clean, the owner is friendly and nice guy, the meal was quite tasting even though grilled meat and tomato was slightly burnt (but it's grilled right?) and the portion was quite small for double skewers, BUT the pricing $23 for medium sized grilled double skewer, rice and tomato and $8 for a teapot is a crime. That's more than for a really good quality pint of beer or glass of wine.
If you rich, you may still like this place.

The service is great and the food is outstanding! They consistently deliver premium quality meals, cooked to perfection. We always leave saying we're coming back. It's apparent the owners priority is a great overall experience, opposed to "best price" Persian food.

Interior design is good. All persian restaurants in Edmonton are trash, but this one has a better "koobideh" and the rice was acceptable. The portion is small, and the price is a bit high.

Best restaurant in Edmonton. The kabobs, the rice, the stews, and the lamb is to die for. Everything tastes so fresh and hearty. Try the pomegranate chicken stew with barberry rice! Also the smoked eggplant spread and Persian style bruschetta is heavenly!

This was my first time going to this restaurant. First off, the service was excellent and the menu was explained in detail to us which was great, since I was unfamiliar with some of the food items. It is a family run establishment and everything (or at least I think so) is made in house. The decor is great and could definitely accommodate many scenarios, such as romance, family, etc. I ordered the chicken kabob and the lamb kabob, and man, was it good!! The first one I tried was the lamb. Absolutely BURSTING with flavor, and very tender! Then I tried the chicken. Honestly I couldn't believe it. I mean you think chicken and you think its always going to be 'just ok'. Its a safe bet. This was THE most tender chicken I have ever had, not to mention also bursting with flavor. It made me realize that chicken, if given proper care, can taste amazing!
Ive never written a review before but thought I should for this one. I really hope more people go as it was not that busy. I was just blown away. Looking forward to going again and interested in seeing if I get the same quality or if it was just a fluke. Something tells me it was not a fluke though.
My only small, slight issue was the cost, but only at first. The quality of the dishes, the meat especially, made me feel I got my money's worth. It actually makes me think that other slightly above average costing restaurants are charging more for nothing. At this place, at least you know you will get a good cut of meat. I know my cash is going towards a high quality meal. After my meal I felt the cost was very fair considering the high quality of the meat.
Anyways, fantastic restaurant in all aspects!!

This is now by far one of my favorite Edmonton restaurants! On top of the food being absolutely amazing the service was extraordinary! I absolutely recommend the Kashkeh Bademjoon! Mouth watering! Will most definitely be going back again.
