Review Three Bananas Cafe - Edmonton

Customer WiFi: yes but you need a staff member Washrooms: yes Power outlets: no Pet friendly: patio Parking: no Food/Drinks: the French press coffee was really good and I'm also glad that it came in a French press. The cheesecake however was a little disappointing it had a very weird texture and next to no flavor. Service: service was a little slow seem like they were more interested in cleaning things up then serving customers. But they did bring my order out to me. Atmosphere: very open and contemporary. The couches we're comfortable but there aren't many.

Seating is good but place smells so bad, do you can’t sit for more than 15 minutes. I smells medicine plus Frying food plus you will never know. At least I could not sit and before I could order, I pressed my nose and ran. Any ways, no body was eager to take my order or looking for me to welcome in or see going out. And I liked that😜 I ya, prices are pretty on a bit higher side as compared to service if there is any!!

Had a lovely mocha here and tastes very nice. Should come around again to have some bites of the snacks.

Beautiful environment, friendly staff and most importantly: GOOD COFFEE! LRT construction makes it less visible than before, but still the great environment it's known for.

Used to really enjoy having breakfast and brunch here. Ordered a toasted bagel with cream cheese; bagel was stale, barely warmed, and had the thinnest amount spread to the point I was unable to taste it. Not usually one to complain, but for premium prices, three bananas should be able to produce at least basic offerings that I could otherwise make myself or purchase at Tim’s and at a better quality and price. I understand that construction has impacted business but don’t let it affect service. Please do better. You have a wonderful location, make use of it.

Both my companion and I had pizza which was hot and delicious. I assume that they were short-staffed, as there was only one (probably new) girl on cash, and an older woman who did everything else. This resulted in very slow service.

Nice, bright place. The food is even decent. Just avoid at all cost if it's busy. They forgot part of our order in the chaos. I politely reminded them and waited, was still ignored. Lunch hour is a mad house, they should probably hand out fewer table markers and just turn people away after a limit.

One of my favorite meeting places downtown, generally not to noisy even during lunch rush. They have comfortable indoor seating (couch/armchairs) and you standard tables/chairs and a patio so you've got lots of options to meet your need. It's one of those places you've probably been by a million times but may never have made it inside and you totally should. Centrally located with transit and parking structures nearby. This locally owned/operated business offers a solid variety of flavourful food and beverage options that make my mouth water thinking about them (3 B deluxe pizza and while hot chocolate are my go to items but app the food and beverage is good). They also offer a coffee club and lunch club punch card for repeat customers.

I’ve been here twice over the years and regretted it both times. Food was very expensive and underwhelming and the staff isn’t very organized. Similar experiences both times.

I really enjoy this cafe. The staff is always nice and the pizzas are so yummy!
The housemade pizza sauce is sweet and flavorful. My favorite is the prosciutto pizza.

I will NEVER be back! The manager is a smug rude arrogant and very unintelligent person.

I ordered an omelette and it looked delicious but....it came with multigrain bread and I am very allergic to buckwheat. I apologized to the nice waitress and said i didn't know it came with multigrain bread otherwise I wouldn't have ordered the bread. I asked her to check the label to confirm whether buckwheat is an ingredient. She couldn't confirm and said the manger said she won't make me a new omelette. I said there could be contamination though and she said the manager would only make me a sandwich instead of a new omelette which is 4.95 vs the 8.95 I paid for the omelette. 😑

This is obviously unacceptable and insensitive so I asked to speak to the manager.

The manager refunded my money. Good decision. But then proceeded to give me heck because I didn't tell the waitress Im allergic. Like this is my fault? How is this my fault?

The manager said she doesn't like to "waste money."

I said normally the waitress is
supposed to tell me what comes with the omelette not me. Then I would have happily told her I'm allergic. After all the menu just says omelette it say nothing about bread. How am I supposed to know? Looks safe to me!

Anyway she repeated she doesn't like to waste money and then had the nerve to dismiss me and the conversation with her hand.

I called her rude. Because she is.

Maybe in Eastern Europe (she had an Eastern European accent) this is considered acceptable to treat your customers but not here!

I don't like to waste money either so I won't be back.

Worst service ever! How is this person even manager? She has no people skills or customer service skills!

Really enjoyed eating here and I appreciate they can accommodate people with gluten intolerance. It can be busy at lunch hour I suggest going before the 12 pm crowd.

Awesome!. Love the ambiance of this place, Edmonton needs more places like this. Love their pizza and lattes! Service was great and everyone was friendly. They handled the busy rush well. I will definitely be back!

Horrible. 12:10 pm and they are completely out of food. Whoever is running this restaurant is clearly incompetent. Will never go back

Food is fine, service is horrific. We went here for lunch during a work day as all the food trucks in Churchill square had disappeared. The line to order wasn't that bad, but we were told it would take up to 25 min for our food. Ok, it is lunch time on a weekday and is a beautiful day outside, so, I can understand that they would be busy. After about 20 min, one of the "servers" was wandering around with a panini. He had no idea where it was supposed to go. In the meantime, one of the orders for our table came up. It sat there for 5 minutes as the "server" wandered around with the panini without a home. I finally got up and asked them if it was our order number. They said yes, so I took it as I didn't want the soup to get cold. When my pizza came - they had forgot to add the pepperoni - so the "server" took my pizza, they put the pepperoni on, and warmed up the pizza. They honestly just threw some pepperoni on the top of it. Sigh. My friend's pizza FINALLY came out - and they brought it to her in a box. She said she wanted it on a plate, and he said that they didn't have any left but he would go see if he could find one. The food was fine, I was starving by the time I got my pepperoni covered pizza so I would eat anything. They also ran out of pizza, as the people sitting next to us found out 15 minutes AFTER they ordered (something you would think the cashiers would be aware of). If you are in a pinch and don't care about how long it takes - its an OK place, but there are better places around with much better service (even McDonalds manages to get it right most of the time ;) ).

Skimpy cream cheese and yucky smoothie. I ordered a mango smoothie and bagel with cream cheese this morning. The smoothie was basically ice cream—they should call it what it is instead of a real fruit smoothie with frozen yogurt—and was not tasty. As the girl was skimping on the cream cheese on my bagel I said, "That's not very much cream cheese." She scowled and flung the top off and added a tiny bit more. I said thank you and she didn't say anything. Terrible service. The items I had were gross. The bagel was not properly toasted and became soggy.

Poor service, lousy drinks. I went to this little restaurant just to have a nice little visit with my daughter, son-in-law and their son. It was supposed to be a very simple thing - my son-in-law had a bottled pop, my grandson had a yogurt, I was having an iced coffee and my daughter was having a strawberry smoothie. Well, my son-in-law and grandson made the best choices. When I put in the order for the coffee and smoothie, the girl behind the counter at first tried to give me a hot black coffee (uh no that's not what I ordered), then I waited close to 20 minutes for the drinks to no avail, at one point being told 'they're coming". My daughter took my place only to get my coffee but then having them cancel the order because they thought the order was filled and she ended up waiting even longer for her smoothie. By the time everything was done it took over 30 minutes to get the two drinks. Was it worth the wait? NO! the coffee was weak and the smoothie was thin and you could barely taste the strawberry in it. The smoothie also had "green bits" in it which we're not exactly sure what they were. Overpriced, poor service, poor quality is what you'll get if you go here. Save yourself the trouble and find a better place.

I had a wonderful experience at Three Bananas Cafe! First of all, the ambiance is great as is the location. The menu is better than any ordinary cafe that serves coffee and muffins...there were a lot of options to choose from! The pizza was delicious, as was the coffee! I will most definitely be back and I highly recommend it.

Just ordered a thin crust pizza which claimed to have fresh prosciutto, Bocconcini and fresh basil. What I received was a pizza with prosciutto, cheddar cheese and freeze dried oregano. It tasted like a frozen pizza you can buy at the grocery store.

Pretty good. Decent panini's and pizzas...a bit pricey..

Stale? This is more like building materials!. Stopped in here for a little dessert and drinks before a show at the theatre last week. The place looks nice enough but the staff didn't come across as friendly. We stepped up to order and were immediately told "We close in 20 minutes". We asked if we could order some desserts and coffee and were told with a very heavy sigh "Desserts, yeah". No coffee it is then.

Frankly we should have walked out because it went downhill from there. The desserts looked okay in the case but when they were serving them up they looked far too rigid. That and he tossed them on the plate with complete abandon. The lemon square type thing was actually curling up on the edges from dehydration. For what was once perhaps a lemon cheese cake (maybe?) it had the texture of almost a nougat, like those white stale jelly-bean filled candies you get at Halloween. My lemon tart was perhaps once a nice smooth lemon curd but had since become a half-set epoxy-like substance. The carrot cake too was dried out, almost brick like, with icing flaking off. These weren't morning fresh and were quite possibly left from what, the weekend? The closed case they keep them in should have preserved much more moisture than that.

I can't say I'll make a point of going back. Bad day or not, they haven't given me a single reason to return.

Pretty disappointing but will get a second chance. Checked out three bananas on NYE, and keeping in mind it was really busy, the experience, more specifically the dark hot chocolate was terrible. It was more like warm brown water. However I did get a sip of the white hot chocolate which was very good. I think my drink was made with powder while the white used syrup and milk even though they were the same price. I'll give this place another chance because it was busy and on NYE

The coffee's fine, just don't eat here. Overpriced panini tasted *ok*, no sides. Boring menu. Perhaps they've improved some since I'd been, but I won't bother going back to find out.

Pretty Good panini but Italian wedding soup was from a can which was disappointing. Expensive $ for lower quality product.

Been here several times since I started working downtown. Good paninis, breakfast, coffee, and service. Free wifi. Comfortable. At Churchill Square and great for people watching. Recommended.

4.0/5.0. They make some of the best coffee in Edmonton, serving Intelligentsia roasts. The food is excellent, well balanced and super fresh. The seating areas are bright with floor to ceiling windows and views onto Churchill square.

Bright sunny café; good pizettes. I spotted this place for my husband as he's the coffee fiend (I'm a tea sipper). We went for lunch after a nice morning at the AGA (worth a visit, btw). We shared the contadina pizette (the size of a dinner plate) while I drank a pellegrino and he enjoyed a blended mocha latté (I think). Our pizette was assembled after we ordered and it was nicely balanced between ingredients (i.e. I wasn't clamouring for more cheese or less sauce, and everything tasted good). He seemed to enjoy his iced/blended coffee. There's a bar/counter by the windows where you can sit while you people watch, and the staff was polite, which is always nice.
