Review Press'd - Edmonton

Rory Kelly
Sandwiches are not bad, not worth planning your day around though. Not accepting pickups during "lunch rush" in the middle of a pandemic, having run f&b operations before this makes no sense. I walked by the store after being told this to see no one was inside.. Out of three attempts to give these folks my business I have actually only managed to get a sandwich once. Again, it was good, but not worth the hassle. Won't be going here again.

Today, I poked my head in and saw two customers inside -- the sign outside said the capacity was 3 customers, so I attempted to go inside. I was told "Hi, we're at capacity" ... confused, I thought, are you...? The sign could be changed to say 2 customers, if that were the case ... I closed the door. After waiting for at least 7-8 minutes outside in the blowing snow, I left. This is also not the first occurrence. Here are 2 stars because the sandwiches I've previously gotten have been good. However, each time I purchase a cookie sandwich, it's hard and inedible, and I've ended up discarding them - even on the same day of purchase. It's also a bit ridiculous that you still don't have online ordering (and no, most people don't prefer to call in to place an order - but it seems that you don't allow that as an option, either). I would even be fine with no ordering in advance if the service was quicker. During each visit, I'm standing outside for at least 5 minutes before being let in (this is sometimes true at the Ritchie location as well, but I have often gotten in and out quicker there). This is not counting the time spent standing in line, ordering, and waiting for the sandwich(es) to be made. Plus, my clothes are always somehow soaked with the smell of grease for days after a "short" visit. With the Grick arguably being your most popular/classic menu item, and being one of only 3-4 items on the menu -- I just don't understand how it consistently takes over 5+ minutes to put bacon, eggs, jam, arugula, and cheese on a sandwich bun.

This place nails it each and every time - the sandwiches are some of the best in the city, and they have some of the more unique variations of sandwiches I’ve seen in the city. Their cronuts are fabulous and light, crispy and flaky and the staff are always super friendly! Try the Chief Beef - it’s the best!

Farrow is easily my favorite sandwich shop in Edmonton. It offers vegan and non-vegan options, both being absolutely delicious. My favorite sandwich is the Grick Middle (a classic at Farrow and a MUST try). I highly recommend trying out one of their donuts as well, you won't be disappointed.

Ahh we came here because a friend suggested their sandwiches and despite eating it outside on a bench in a cold, windy day, the sandwiches were superb! Excellent meat ratio, and their bread (yes the bread!) is amazing. There's always a lineup outside but they are pretty efficient, and it's worth the wait. Check it out.

They have amazing sandwiches that are flavorful and delicious. This is coming from a person who does not typically like sandwiches. They also have killer cronut... I sometimes order a bunch and bring them to work and everyone loves them. Definitely worth checking out even if you don't love sandwiches.

My good friend moved to Australia 4 years ago and is finally back for a visit, so naturally we needed to get one of the best sandwiches around The Grick Middle #Classic

Phenomenal sandwiches, all day er' day! I crave them almost daily and trust me, they know their sandwiches. Can't wait for summer so we can grab a Chef Beef and one of their delicious freshly made cronuts and have a stroll down to the river valley for a picnic. :)

Large Cubano sandwich in rye bread. $10 on a regular day without coupons or specials....basically pulled pork, ham, thin layers of cheese and a few pickles...tasted okay. Nothing to rave about, bread baked “fresh” daily...again not amazing but not bad. Also tried the bird sandwich which was a little lighter with veggies and guacamole. A lot fresher taste with lighter ingredients. Both worth trying but will wait for coupons before I return.

In 2017 Press’d won the Golden Fork Awards for Best Sandwiches, Best Wrap and Best Catering. And this wasn’t the first year they made the charts. With a focus on fresh ingredients and a dynamic menu with unique selections, it is easy to see why.

Press'd is one of my favourite lunch spots, I typically order the combo with either "The Boss" or the grilled cheese and tomato basil soup. Plus, each day they have a different sandwich on special or $5 (regular) size, which is really a hard deal to beat, especially if you are eating downtown.

Service is fast and everything is made to order, which I always appreciate. They have multiple locations in the city and through the province, so you will likely find one close to you. They are also in Saskatchewan.

This place used to have a packed line at lunch but when I showed up it was barren. There were lines at every other spot in the (newly constructed) City Centre food court, except here at Press'd. You'd think the employee would be happy when I walked up but as I stood there trying to decided what I wanted, she prompted "do you know what you want yet?" Finally I decided on the Club Press'd (after feeling a bit rushed) and when I stated that I just wanted the sandwich and no combo or drink, it seemed what little interest the staff member had in me as a patron sunk even lower. It didn't hit me until I sat down to eat the sandwich but I spent $10 on that sandwich alone and it wasn't all that great. Did it have all the components of a sandwich, yes. However for some reason it felt... boring, dry and not that tasty. It's pretty hard to mess up a classic sandwich like a club but the only flavor I really took away from it was salty thick bread, salty cold cuts and saltier than usual mayonnaise. Not sure what the big deal is with this spot, maybe I just haven't found the right sandwich to order however I have yet to be impressed.

I do not understand the reason behind all the hype about Press'd. I never knew the bread was all baked fresh daily on the premises but, hey, good for them. The service here is fast and friendly but that's all I can say about the positives. For the price that I'm paying for a sandwich, I expect to be wowed and, unfortunately, I was not wowed. I've eaten here twice and I will not be back for a third time. The sandwich fillings are quite sparse and it wasn't even hot for a pressed sandwich. I mean, they did grill it, didn't they? Well, if they did, it sure didn't taste like it. I honestly can make a sandwich at home that's tastier, hotter, and has a ton more fillings than what I'm paying almost $8 for here.

Sandwiches here are good good good. Service will be very quick and all is very fresh. I really like going here with my friends for lunch. I recommend.

Happy luncher. Great staff, great sandwiches, perfect work day break!

Love it!. Working downtown, I frequent Press'd on a regular basis. It was just what I was looking for: good sandwiches for a good price. A half sandwich is a perfect size for lunch and costs less than $6. You can't find that at many other fast food places. I call this fast food only because it is clearly meant to be something quickly, not a place where you're go to sit and spend our lunch hour. They have a great variety I have loved everything that I have ordered there. The staff is very friendly and efficient and Malcolm and Ron at the till are extremely competent and friendly. I highly recommend Press'd if you are looking for a great sandwich for lunch. Don't worry if the line up seems long, they keep things moving.

Disappointing. This place sure has gone downhill...went for lunch today and I received a hot piece of bread and ICE COLD fillings inside.

So disappointing. I was expecting a nice warm sandwich throughout...not just the bread. It was ready in about 2 minutes as well so the staff just worries about pumping orders out and overlooks the quality of their sandwiches.

Will not be returning.

Boring. If I'm getting a pressed sandwich I am expecting a sandwich that is grilled...with melted cheese and hot fillings. Twice I have been here and both times the bread was perfectly grilled and the contents were ICE COLD. What's the point of grilling it if I wanted toast and chicken salad. Non original.

Love!!. I love the sandwiches here! When i worked down town we would have them catered all the time and if I could get away from the office long enough I would go have a hot press'd sandwich.
I really like that you can get rye bread on your sandwich and wish they would have the turkey/cranberry sandwich year round!

People like this stuff? I j.... People like this stuff?
I just got the Pollo Provo which is just bland. It has red peppers, pesto, chicken, cheese. I don't understand how this can be considered fresh because my ENTIRE sandwich was cold. Even the chicken! It felt like I was eating left overs, which is a shame because i got the large size, which I shouldn't have.
On the other hand, I ordered their Tuscan tomato soup (cup size) which is absolutely amazing. I've been looking for a place with good soup and I was surprised to find it at a sandwich place. Overall I would go back for the soup, but stay away from the sandwiches.

Press'd. Such great food! Crazy busy at lunch times so get there fast!

Fresh and Tasty. I recently tried the Southwestern and I loved it! It is a great alternative to those other sandwich places that claim they have fresh ingredients. Press'd bakes their bread daily onsite and their ingredients are fresh and satisfying! As a office worker at City Centre this will be my go-to-place for lunch.

I come to this restaurant for its gluten free sandwiches that are made fresh to order. This location does not do this. They have a specific gluten free sandwich daily which is pre-made and you are unable to add or remove toppings. I will not be returning to this location.

Pretty good option for Downtown Office Folk. Sandwiches are very tasty.

My favorites include:
-The Grill Slinger
-The golden bear
-The beatnik

Not much of a veggie eater but the Beatnik is actually very delicious and I enjoyed it very much. The golden bear on Rye is probably my top choice tho,

The prices are a bit steep if you are getting a combo, but I guess that's the price you pay for healthy eating these days?

I enjoy this place when I am sick of all the processed junk that's littering the city center food courts.

My go-to lunch place. Whenever I need to step out during the work week and buy my lunch, Press'd is my go-to place. The staff has always been friendly, attentive, and on the ball for me, and the sandwiches and soup are always delicious and fresh.

I'm a big fan of the California Club and The Bird on rye bread - both are bursting with flavour. My co-worker and I tried the Wicked Thai last week, and really enjoyed it, although she was surprised by the presence of mushrooms in the soup.
Zuhallem
Ordered the Blazing Buffalo on Focaccia and a bowl of Wicked Thai soup with Chicken. Sandwich was excellent, very fresh taste with a hint of Redhot sauce for a kick. The soup was superb, as good as any in the city. If you are in Edmonton City Centre visit them in the lower level food court, you will not be disappointed.

Not so nice. The golden bear sandwich tasted too sweet and the cinnamon in the roasted apples was overpowering. It was almost like eating chicken with an apple pie! Service was gruff to the point of being surly. Too bad as I had rather high expectations of this place.

Great. They are great for sandwiches, dont care for the soup I tried the tomato and it was warm tomato juice very thin and watery but will still go back for the bella sandwich.

Sandwishes Made Right. I have visited Press'd at City Center Mall few times, tried a different sandwich every time.
I was blown away by the taste and the freshness of the sandwiches add to that the great portions that make it worth every penny.
To satisfy a picky guy like me is not easy, good job Press'd !

My favorite time of day during the hectic work week is lunch. I am able to catch my breathe,re organize myself and eat. I stumbled across pressd last thursday and was impressed. I was greeted politely and attentively. All my questions concerning the in house made bread were answered without second thought. The place was busy yet strangely quiet, not sure if it was the staff playing the Italy game. Or that these sandwiches were just that amazing. Pressd deserves your lunch hour and title as " The Sandwhich Company". Well done. Passion makes all the difference.

Very impressed with the menu selection. My sandwich was fresh and delicious and soup was flavorful. Great location and kept very clean. Staff are energetic and welcoming. Highly recommended Press'd to my friends and will definitely continue to go there!
Pastries.and.pizza
$8 for a lack luster veggie sandwich? Really? I will not be back. This place is a joke when compared to Elm cafe for sandwiches. At least there you get delicious, quality sandwiches made by people who actually take the time to think up creative veggie sandwiches instead of slapping cucumbers between two pieces of warmed up bread. Won't be back!!

This place is a must try!. When I saw a sandwich shop going into City Centre I was excited. I really enjoy a good sandwich, I grew up looking forward to Sunday lunches because it usually meant making sandwiches from a meat and cheese tray my mum would put together. So, when Press'd opened, I had to try it!
I have been consistently impress'd to say the least! I have tried almost every sandwich on the menu and have enjoy almost all of them. The bread is fresh, the ingredients are fresh and the service is polite and friendly.
They keep the place clean and even during the lunch rush they're pretty quick about getting food out.

Fresh Bread, Fresh healthy toppings, really good.. Great place for lunch, i always get the Beatnik, its almost my perfect sandwich, very fresh and the Foccacia is so good. Highly recommend. Quick service too for being so busy during lunch time.

Fresh and nice. I went to City Centre with my wife during lunch hours. We did not have much time for lunch. So, we decided to go for a sandwich or something. I heard about Press'd before. But, it was our first time. We ordered two half sandwiches, and it was enough lunch for us. The breads were fresh. The feeling was tasty. We both loved it.

Best sandwiches in the city, and it's not even close.. I've been going to Press'd since it opened and it is my go to place for lunch.

Usually, I get the Buenna Bella as it's extremely fresh and tastes like you're eating straight from the garden. Other exceptionally good sandwiches that I've had there include the Golden Bear and the Smokey Mountain.

I love the fact that they make their own bread and now roast their own chicken for their sandwiches. That partnered with the excellent quality ingredients make for a really awesome sandwich. Unlike Subway, the sandwiches are pretty flavourful and don't all taste the same.

On another note, the customer service there is always really good. Never had a mistake of any sort with any of my sandwiches and the staff is always very friendly.

Strongly recommended! 10/10. Do not pass on it!

Wrong Order. Been there a few time and half of the time I didn't receive what I order

A Regular Favourite. One of the very, very few good fast-food places to eat downtown, and doesn't disappoint, time after time after time. The reuben is a particular favourite, and I think they've put a really neat twist on it with the Thousand Island Dressing. Southwestern Club and Golden Bear are two other excellent (tasty!) choices for me.
Domestic Dreamboat
Good sandwich, healthy meal on the run. I stopped here for lunch on a break during a conference. After a quick glance at the menu, I knew I would order the Golden Bear (Smoked Chicken, Baked Brie, Roasted Apples, Spinach, Sweet Fig Jam). I got the half order, which MORE than filled me. The bread is huge! The sandwich was good, but the apples tasted raw, not roasted. I think I would eat here again if I were in need of a quick meal downtown, but with so many other options nearby, it might not be my first choice.

Disappointing!. I was very excited to try a Press'd sandwich after reading so many good things about them but unfortunately I was sadly disappointed. I love a good Reuben so of course I ordered the Big Reub. Although it was great to have a pressed sandwich that has a nice warm inside, I was totally shocked that the bread wasn't even warm let alone toasty from being in the press. It was as if they simply heated the inner goodies and then threw them all in between a few pieces of bread. To make it even worse, the thousand island dressing tasted odd. Considering the price of the sandwich, I'm just not sure that I want to try anything else there.

"I like it" ignoring the price. Yeah the sandwich was good... almost reminds me of the gourmet sandwich I had in Vegas. But it was also, what, $8 without drink/fries/chips? Yep... I paid $8 for a sandwich shown in the picture. Is it a sin? I think so...

I'd rather go to Standard Life Building's "It's Only Natural" cafe... yeah the sandwich is "cold" but it still tastes more impressive than this hot pressed sandwich.

I have to congratulate the CA owners running this place though. Shows people that professionals don't always have to do boring, serious office work. There's way more adventures running a sandwich place.
Big City Cupcakes
Very good and fresh. I have had a few sandwiches here and they were fantastic. Tasted really good, healthy, and most importantly fresh. There are so many different sandwiches to choose from. I will definitely come back for some more.
Iloveyummyfood
Great food! Great menu! Fast! Overall a super place for lunch. Definitely recommend it.
Yoda
Not impressed. The people I was with enjoyed their choice of bread..I asked for the white bread and though it was fresh and moist it lacked texture and taste...so it was a dissapointment
The deli meats were cheaper that I would use at home so I didn't order a sandwich with those....but since the ads said fresh I did order one of the sandwiches with chicken as I thought I'd get chicken breast..rolled chicken and turkey....not my fav....
The sandwich was good but I won't rave about it...I"d return if the group I was with was heading this way...but otherwise I'll stick to my usual haunts.

HOT TAMALE! CALIENTE!. I loooove Press'd!! My favourite sandwich is the Hot Tamale. I love how spicy it is!!! So good!!!
I also love having Press'd in City Centre because it's such easy access.
I've heard nothing but good things from other people I've recommended Press'd to! So awesome!
Keep it up!! :)

More please.... As a fit, beautiful, single young woman, I just can't get enough of Press'd Sandwiches. The Bird, Golden Bear, Meddito…yum yum. Me and my girlfriends hang out Press'd and eat delicious, nutritious sandwiches almost every day. Thanks Press'd!
Aline
Yummy in my tummy!!. What can't I say about this place? Working in a high traffic downtown office that requires catering on average 3 days a week, needs good caterers. Every time I walk into Press'd I get greeted by my first name, my orders are always fresh and ready, and they even go out of the way to offer me free delivery even though I am only next door. :) Their food has been such a big hit that every time I get to host an event people always ask for their Sandwiches, yet alone their famous cookies. Thanks again boys for everything you do!!! I will see you five times this week. Hehehe!!

EDMONTON'S BEST SANDWICHES!. Downtown Edmonton needs more places like this! Fresh - healthy - REAL food. Lata Subway - HELLLOOOO Press'd!

Mmmmmmmm press'd. My press'd sandwich was so delightfully delicious it aroused me. just thinking about it now is making me kind've randy, the next time I get one I will be getting it to go so I can touch my pin balls in the privacy of my own home while I eat it, mmmmmmmhhhmmmmm press'd

Come east!. I found this place on a trip recent trip out west, and loved it. More wholesome than quizno's, and it smells far better than subway. The sandwiches are great too, and - wait for it - they have gluten free sandwich options! Finally!
Please open a store in so-ont.
Meika
Dissapointed. I was super excited to try this place out! They make the bread fresh daily, and it is delicious. However, if they're going to have such great bread I wish they would invest in higher quality meat. I ordered the Italian sandwich and it was the cheap pepperoni and salami that you get at cheap pizza places. Very dissapointed. But for $8 a sandwich, it better have better meat then that. Maybe I'll go back and try a chicken sandwich, beacuse the Italian meat sucked.
Gluten Free Edmonton
I cracked a smile when I received a tweet that Press'd - The Sandwich Company located in Edmonton's City Centre food court was starting to offer gluten free sandwich's with Kinnikinnick bread . There is nothing on their website yet, but just a news release they posted on Twitter. Unfortunately there is going to be a surcharge for the gluten free sandwich, but at least there is going to be a sandwich option for lunch goers downtown. Click here to read their news release. They also informed me that they are looking into an alternative way to "press" or toast the sandwich because they currently do not have a dedicated gluten free sandwich press. They are looking at the idea of using toaster bags to toast the bread etc. I am happy to see them trying to make sure the Edmonton Celiac community gets the best press'd sandwich possible. Press'd sandwich has some tasty looking sandwich's from their provo lovo with provolone cheese, roasted chicken, peppers and a creamy pesto mayo, to their The B
LS Vors
Press'd is certainly a high point of this food court. My conclusions are limited at this point, since a basic tenet of science is that one cannot drawn broad conclusions based on a single sample, but I was pleased enough to anticipate future visits, even if I like making sandwiches at home.
