Review El Rancho Spanish Restaurant Ltd - Edmonton

Loved it. Honestly, everything was fresh and made to order. I feel like I have never had authentic El Salvadorian food before and this is what drew me to the place. The empanada was so crispy and the salsa that came with it was refreshing and light. The fish taco was different from the ones I've had in the states; it was a different style but I don't know how to accurately describe it. I kid you not, this is a well-kept secret in Edmonton. I'll be coming back to this place.

Delicious Salvadorian and Mexican cuisine. Family owned. Phone ahead as they've been unexpectedly closed at times when they should be open, according to their hours posted.

Traditional, culturally authentic, with a very homey and family feel. It's like a kind Spanish family cooked you dinner. The desserts are some of my favourites with the deep fried ice cream at the top of my lists.

Great enchiladas pollo. Wicked sauce. Come anytime it’s wonderful and small homey feeling here. Very good

Came here for a Birthday Party with 10 other people. The service was very slow and frustrating, even with the benefit of the doubt of being a smaller place with a smaller staff. However waiting 30 minutes for your drink order after arriving and getting food after 90 minutes of arriving is poor in any restaurant. There was a few issues with orders (Mainly orders not containing what was advertised and what the description was). However the food was unbelievable. The only shining light that night was the food was delicious. Once again, service took a dive as no drinks were refilled or even asked to be refilled (Including water) for the entire night. Upon finishing the meal, the bill preparation took 15 minutes after finally being requested in which they informed us we cannot split bills and must pay for everything in one transaction (All Groups over 6 I believe they said). I understand the policy being a small restaurant and saving on transactions fees however saying "You were notified on the back of the menu" instead of physically mentioning it to us when we made a reservation or even when we're ordering. This would have saved us from scrambling to figure out who's paying and how they're paying (Not to mention how people are paying this person back) when we have another event to get to in which only some of us were going to. In conclusion. Great food, and priced as you would expect. However the service was unacceptable.

Yes, as the reviews state...the service is a bit slow. But hey, one waitress in this family owned and opperated restaurant and she does a great job regardless. Why are you in such a damn rush anyways? Sit back..relax and enjoy yourself. Your patience will be well rewarded. My review: this place is one of those hole in the wall hidden gems tucked away in the shady 118 ave area. But the food is AMAZING. Everything here is made with love and the authentic Mexican dishes are very well balanced in terms of flavor without being too spicy for those who prefer a milder taste. But dont worry...for those do love a little burn on their pallet will be dazzled by the homemade hot sauce that can be requested on the side. They even sell their homemade hot sauce in generous sized bottle. You gotta eat here!

We have had a range of items over the years and enjoyed every time; I recommend everything, really, though my favourite is the fish platter – simply remarkable. The service is friendly and attentive and pricing affordable – ambiance close to what a typical Latin American neighbourhood restaurant would be. Recommend it without hesitation!

We have been coming to this restaurant for quite some time and telling our friends about it, but the service and quality if the food has been going downhill the last few times we have been there. On Friday July 20 the 4 of us had unsatisfactory service. At 5:30 (they open at 4) we were told we would have about a 30 to 45 min wait for our food. Ok but there were only 2 other tables with a total of 5 customers at them. We ordered 3 orders of shrimp taco and 1 order pupusas, and 1 order enchiladas. After 45 min the shrimp tacos came ..2 had cilantro on them 1 had none. The shrimp were tiny canned shrimp not the nice plump ones we used to get. After about 10 min I received my enchiladas, they were ok but definitely lacking the flavour they used to have. Then we got the pumpusas!! Very disappointing and not satisfactory at all

Not impressed with the service or the food. My burrito was slimy and full of grease. We were never asked how the food tasted. I left a full plate barley touched it because well it tasted like it came out of the microwave. Just bad service in general. Not worth wasting your money. I give them 2 starts because their pupusas were alright but I’ve had way better.

Nice people, got 4 beef tacos 4 chicken tacos and 3 fish tacos. Fish tacos were alright, beef and chicken tacos were very very very dry. Not fresh at all. Also not pleased I ordered 40$ worth of tacos for my fiancé and me and we are both still hungry...

My partner and I loved it! Delicious food, and the server was warm and took the time to explain the menu and make recommendations. It was my first time trying pupusa, and I think I'm hooked! We will definitely be back.

Food was very tasty and the server was very sweet. I love the decor and the whole place smelled delicious. Will be back for sure!

Been craving pupusas and this perfectly satisfied that!! Yummm. Wasn't a huge fan of their style of tortilla soup though.
