Our office was hosting an event and needed a caterer stat. It was the holiday season and Bucas stepped up with only a days notice. We ordered pasta & Caesar salad for 30. With the pasta order we got 5 types of sauces, we got the Meat Sauce, Sundried Tomato, Italian, Alfredo & Spicy Mushroom. All sauces were well made and varied enough to cater to all taste buds. The mushroom sauce was my personal favourite. Bucas was a life saver in pinch and they even delivered! Buns, plates and cutlery were also included. All at a very reasonable price. Thanks Bucas.
Such an authentic and delicious Italian food establishment! I have been coming here for years and have always been impressed. The pasta is fresh and the sauces are flavourful. It is a family oriented environment and the staff are always welcoming. I highly recommend Bucas for great homemade Italian food!
Really good pasta at cheap prices. The hot mushroom sauce is delicious and spicy. Very good meatballs and the girls are also really friendly. We will be back again
Fresh pasta! The whole family enjoys it. HOT MUSHROOM SAUCE is the reason I come here! Would consider buying their take home sauces but the price and quantity doesn't justify; might as well just dine in there.
Great place. Been going here for many years. Always a great quality and quantity of food.
Good service and a reasonable price.
Not a fancy restaurant by any means, but let's face it, that's not what it supposed to be.
Can you eat there? Yes. Is or dirty? No. Can you go there in work clothes? Yes. Are you gonna leave full? Yes.
Sounds like a good place in my book
You get what you pay for. Don't expect something like Nello's but this place is pretty good if you're in a hurry.
Delicious!. This is one of my favorite places to come for lunch. The pasta and sauces are homemade and it is hard for me to not over eat. Price is reasonable. I love the Cajun linguine with marina. Staff is friendly and ready to get you served and fed promptly as there's usually a line of people waiting behind you!
All you can eat for around $10! Always consistent since I started going there in 2001.
Absolutely delicious. The pasta was home made and fresh. The hot Italian sauce on Cajun pasta was amazing. More surprising was the mushroom sauce. It was amazing!!! The service is incredible and the staff were super friendly and helpful!!
Eat your fill!. This place is terrific if you're looking for decent pricing and hearty food.
The fair is simple, consistent and good. Decore compliments the food, simple and tasteful and the staff are always smiling.
I recommend this place for hungry people. The spicy mushroom sauce is especially nice, but I usually mix and match or switch up what I get between bowls. Everything is fairly good and the bottomless bowl lets you try a little of everything, provided you have the appetite!
Casual comfort food. My husband and I have 'grown up' with Bucas. We had just moved to the area when they opened their doors and loved that we could enjoy not having to eat junk food on our tight entertainment budget. Fast forward 15 years and we've added 3 kids to the mix. You can't beat getting a good dinner on the table in under 10 minutes, still feeling welcome to bring the whole family and not having to deal with a throw-away toy at the end. Their pasticcio is my favourite - ever. It's been many years since I've even attempted my own; if not for sampling off the kid's plates, I doubt I would ever have made a point of trying the rest of the menu. It's the best of comfort food: hot, fast and sastisfyingly fills the gap when you need it.
What's with the bad reviews? u must of gone at a bad time.honestly I think it used 2 b a little better, but it's still pretty good, still my favorite place for a quick pasta. no the place isn't glamorous, it's a nice simple little pasta place, I've always found the pasta pretty good, the service friendly and efficient, and the price inexpensive, they have 4 ready to serve pastas with six sauces, salad and meat balls and some other stuff. my favorite is to get all u can eat, so I can have more than 1 type, my favorite is the tortalini, with spicey Italian sausage, followed by a half bowl of the whole wheat with the spicey mushroom.
Going for 10 years + and still amazing!. I've been going to Bucas and Pastas since the Edmonton Sun ran an article on them when they opened, some 10 years ago. I have to say, the quality hasn't changed one bit. I have never gone ad been disappointed in this place. The pasta and sauces are always fresh and home made, it never leaves a soggy mess in the bottom of your dish. The specials are always nice, the desserts and salads are great. I can't say a single bad thing about Bucas.
Very good food. Is very quick and good value. Lots of pasta choices. Casual atmosphere. Will go back for sure
Cajun Linguine & Mushroom.. My go to place for pasta. Getting really hard to eat 'out of the box' pasta once you've gotten used to fresh so I've been finding myself eating here more and more. Simple unpretentious atmosphere and good food. There should be more places like this.
Not as good as it used to be.. When we lived in Edmonton, and Bucas & Pastas first opened, the standard of the food was "top drawer". Lunch today was not quite as it used to be. Service at the counter is friendly and quick, with a good system in place to pump through the busy lunchtime crowd of diners and takeouts.
My wife had the bowtie pasta with spicy mushroom sauce, which she thoroughly enjoyed. I had the beef tortellini with meat sauce, and we both added one meat ball to our meals.
My problem was that, at 12:30, my pasta had clumps of two or three [pieces glued together, and dry on the outside. Definitely not "al dente"! Flavours were good, and the meat balls are as good as ever.

Our favourite Italian place- and half the price of lesser pasta. We have actually been known to eat here two days in a row we love it so much! Their basil pesto has to be the world's best! It's house made, a perfect blend of parmesan, garlic and TONS OF BASIL (drooling now...) with whole pinenuts. I get whole wheat pasta which lets me feel less sinful about eating pasta. They make all their pastas in house too... I think 5 or 6 types. I'll add a meatball or 4 depending on my hunger. They are perfectly spiced and have a unique density I just love. You have to nag the server to get (with meatballs) some of the sauce they're lying in which is a bit weird. I love my "usual" so much I only try other things as a forkful stolen from a friend's plate. That's how I discovered the complex flavour of the hot mushroom sauce. I see someone complained it was too hot, someone else that the mushroom flavour didn't stand out... but myself, I'd never given it a chance as I expected a boring can-of-mushroom-soup experience. Perhaps they need to rename it to emphasize its zany nature, for the benefit of people who are seeking plainness and those avoiding plainness. I find a bit of Thai flavour in it- lime-leaf, maybe a little lemongrass or ginger...not sure, but it is delightful. You can get a daub of something new on one edge of your pasta while having your favourite sauce on most of the bowl. I often go half pesto- half mushroom. I'm not a tomato lover, but my husband adores the (also hot, but complex) sausage tomato sauce atop the cajun linguini (waaayy hot), and a more timid (heat-wise) friend said the basic tomato sauce and plain pasta was good too. The deserts and salads are fresh and wholesome (ie, no edible oils on the desserts, just real dairy) and every bit as good as you'd get in an expensive pasta place, though it's a pasta craving that always sends us to Bucas. Every time I go somewhere "fancy" I kick myself because I end up paying 2-3times the price for pasta that isn't 10% as good. I guess the decor is where these guys save money. If you haven't been, it's set up cafeteria style. So maybe it isn't ideal for a romantic date, but it can not be beat for wonderful food. oh!- I forget about their stellar espresso because we usually go there in the evening, but if you go for lunch, or you hold your caffeine better than I do, GET A CAPPUCCINO! Best I've ever had, no exaggeration. I hate the bitter darkroast stuff you get at Starbucks and the like, so I'm nuts about the more well-rounded, completely non-burnt flavour you'll get here. Beware, if you like it plain (as I do): they garnish with a dash of cinnamon if you don't stop them. With dinner I usually prefer Orangina or Limonata... it's nice to have juice/pop that's a bit unusual for a treat, plus it goes great with the garlicky flavours. They have some beers, wines, and coolers too, but it's not really a place where you linger over drinks for an hour, what with the brightly-lit, casual atmosphere. We're usually in & out in a half hour tops, which is great news for anyone nearby who needs a quick & cheap lunch-hour destination (but not if you deal with the public! They aren't stingy with the fresh garlic here!) or a great alternative to drive-thru on a busy day.
Awesome little place. I've been going to Bucas & Pasta for well over 5 years, and their food is always great!
If you are looking for REAL pasta, there is no better place than B&P - give it a try and you will not be disappointed.
Yummmm. Sooooooooooooooooooooooooo good! And they are super fast at lunch! You always need a to-go container when coming here!
I'm torn, I had the Cajun sauce on lingini and hot Italian sausage but I found it weak and bland. I tried the hot creamy mushroom tortlini and that I liked, for now I'll vote I liked it since the Greek salad was good and worked as a tie breaker
My boyfriend recently introduced this place to me, I had never herd of it before living in Edmonton most of my life. I read reviews prior to going & was not disappointed! After reading reviews it swayed me to my decision on what to order, I got a hot mushroom pasta wavy noodles with meatballs, Caesar salad and the death by chocolate cake. The hot mushroom was sooo good! The meatballs were so tender n everything was so hot and fresh. Delicious! The death by chocolate was to DIE for definitely lives up to its name? I liked how the tomato sauce mixed with the hot mushroom as well from the meatballs so next time I plan to get a half hot mushroom half four cheese. Also, a lot of people said the hot mushroom was spicy but I didn’t find it spicy at all. The Caesar salad dressing was delicious as well, homemade with anchovies I believe? I’ve never tried that type of Caesar dressing before and it was great. This is a total gem located on the west end of the city tucked away near the cop shop. Can’t wait to return!
Ended up on this side of town around lunch time and stopped in for the first time ever. Wow is all I can say! Pasta is fresh, perfectly cooked, and the Alfredo is amazingly flavorful. 10/10 will come back again!
This is one of Edmonton's the best small pasta restaurant, and one of this city's hidden treasures. This is a family operation that we have been eating at for 15 years. They are by their own genesis already set up for takeouts. Their prices are very reasonable, and their pasta is high quality homemade pasta from a true mom and pop's operation. They typically will have feature pasta's and we just love their pasta sauce. They also have deserts like our favorite "Death by Chocolate". I just love their Meatballs, yum is all I can say because the size of the meatballs are generous, these large meatballs are spiced; but not spiced so as to overpower your taste buds, but just enough spicing to really make a terrific meatball that I am in love with. When you think of pasta, and you live in the West end because of Covid they are not really set up for dine-in right now. We have typically over the years have drove there; due East 2 doors from the Continental Inn liquor store because this restaurant is really geared towards take out. We then would take our pasta order home, which BTW is a healthy sized serving of Pasta and the desert is naturally to die for. If you love Pasta do your self a favor and don't miss out on one of Edmonton's hidden little gems for anybody that is hungry in the West End. The people who run this gem are genuinely warm and welcoming, and man can they cook.
I had the cheese tortellini with mushroom sauce.
The food was hot and ready in steam tables for instant takeout and was very delicious. 😋
The lady behind the counter was very nice. 😃
10/10 would totally recommend!
A very no frills style cafe; if you want a filling meal for a super low price this is the place. My bill was under $40 for two people. We had enough food to have tons of leftovers for a midnight snack.
Will definitely be coming back.
I have been coming here for 11 years now and to this day is still my absolute favorite lunch spot! The pasticcio is is amazing and their caesar salad dressing is so good. The staff is always so friendly and remembers you and your order!
