Very good service, the waitstaff was friendly, quick and efficient. Lovely actually. We each ordered a bento, myself, bento 'c' and my friend, bento 'b'. The ONLY negative thing I have to say is regarding the teriyaki sauce. I have a Japanese background and have lived in Japan. I make my own teriyaki at home and it is super easy and delicious with a few common ingredients. I do not know if they used a store bought brand or made their own but either way, it needs improvement, it is super bland. Make your own sauce and grill/sauce with it appropriately! Also, shichimi togarashi for every table!

Great Service, it's a late review but thought I should share my experience here, I've gone 3 times in the last two months and I've got to say when I crave sushi Kabuki is the first to come in mind, coming from Vancouver which is sushi central for Canada, I've gotta say that this place is fresh as fresh can get! It's quite apparent even with their Avocado Rolls, service is quite good as well! Will be coming back soon!

My first time at kabuki and it was really good. We had a lovely and attentive server, the food came out relatively fast, and everything tasted great. Really enjoyed the oiler roll and the udon. I will be coming back for sure.

Excellent food, service, atmosphere. Way better than the one near University. This is my to-go place for sure. Also the packaging was good! (With all the utensils and sauces!)

Randomly stumbled upon this place because the other Japanese restaurants that we went to were too busy and man am I happy that we did! It is beautifully decorated/authentic (can't tell on the outside) and the food is incredible. Everything we ordered (all 4 dishes) was a 5/5 and it was so cheap! Best sushi place in Edmonton and best priced! You will not be disappointed.

This restaurant is REALLY good. I think this Japanese spot is on par with Izakaya Tomo and Japonais Bistro. Everything in this place is authentic. The atmosphere, decor, service, and food. Authentic. Definitely a pleasant surprise for me. I would definitely come back! Tako Yaki and Blazing Unagi highly recommended!!!

I have to say that this place is enjoyable.  Good food and the atmosphere is good, especially for lunch.  However, the one thing that keeps me from returning too often is the price.  Given the portion size and the atmosphere, it feels to expensive for me for what you get.

I've ordered from Kabuki about half a dozen times. The food? Excellent, but sometimes the packaging is a real failure and results in wet sushi and tempura! Otherwise I love their food, it's always consistent and delicious.

I prefer this location to the original one as it's much cleaner. Staff members are extremely  friendly and the food is always consistent. High recommend the takoyaki here.

Good sushi, but avg rolls. We have eaten here twice. They make excellent udon and rice bowls, and they have good sushi--nicely cut and the right temperature. However, their rolls, such as the dynamite roll, are mediocre; they taste bland and fall apart. The yellowtail roll was just weird--deep fried, with a "hot sauce" that didn't taste like anything at all. I'm also sure it was salmon and not yellowtail in the middle. I really like the owners and service. As long as you know what to order, a good choice. Prices very reasonable.

This is our go - to sushi place. They are authentic Japanese, but have a wide variety in their menu without becoming too western. Their fish is always fresh and if it isn't they won't sell it. Their udon soup is the best in the city and better than a lot of bowls of udon soup we had in Tokyo! We go here at least once a week and their service is excellent

Oh yes please.... Kabuki is everything I want in a sushi joint. Intimate, great staff, and super food.
The server barely had time to bring out our pot of tea, when our first part of the meal arrived.
We ordered the Katsu Don, 2 x Spicy Tuna roll with crunch, California rolls, Salmon rolls and spring rolls. ($50 for all that, it left 3 people stuffed) The food comes out in no particular order and a bit sporadically but I think that is more that they bring it to you the instant each bit is ready, making it truly fresh, as opposed to it being a timing thing.
My first dining partner ate his Katsu Don with his eyes closed while making little happy noises. Quite funny to watch.
My second dining partner is "anti-sushi" as she doesn't like the texture. We ordered the spring rolls for her. She ate more of the sushi than any of us. Her words in the car home were a repeat of,"So full, so good." If that isn't a ringing endorsement then I dont know what is.
The fish was fresh, the rice perfectly cooked, any added veggies were fresh, and the rolls were tight enough that they didn't fall apart upon first bite.
We were, not sure why, given bowls of miso "on the house". It was wonderful. Light, not salty, just delicious.
So happy to have this little addition to my end of town.
Do yourself a favour and take someone you like here. So worth it.

Yummy!. If you are hungry and want variety, Kabuki is definitely the go-to place! The prices are reasonable and you get quite a decent amount for what you pay for. Also, the blazing unagi roll is a must try! And also don't forget to check out their deals as well. Those always got me coming back for more :)

Great lunch combo!. Came by for lunch with a few friends, and we ordered a couple of the lunch specials. Great bang for your buck - little bit of everything. Thoroughly enjoyed the food, and the serving sizes were relatively generous. Would reccomend.

Miso Impressed!. The food here is excellent. I've been to Kabuki South a few times and have tried a wide variety of cooked and raw food; they were all prepared expertly and tasted great! The staff are very friendly and sincere. It has a nice homely feel which makes for a more enjoyable dining experience. Must try!

Tried out the love boat night. The food taste and presentation are ok. The price is reasonable. Nothing really fancy, just a typical Japanese menu. It could be a pretty local sushi place.

Don't know why it's 68%, I think it should be 86% :). You know why I like this place?

OK, let's clear the 109 street experience out of the way first. I didn't like it there and it is reflected in my other review.

This is a new Kabuki. I don't know what the owner/franchise situation is but I like the owners here a lot. Out of Sushi Sugoi, Kenko, and this place (all Korean-owned), I like this one the best. You know why? It's down to earth, it's personal, it's got quality and heart put into it without wanting to rip you off. Isn't that the most important thing?

I like their weekly specials right now. Monday = $5 salmon sashimi. Tuesday = 50% off love boat. Wednesday = free takoyaki. Thursday = $2 Dragon-eye roll. How generous is that? Of course, there is a limit per table or per 2 customers. Still, fully reasonable and welcoming!

I had the deluxe boat and I suspected that I was given imitation crab meat filling in the california rolls and what not... but I am now fairly convinced that it was crab. If that's the case, I don't know how they make money anymore. There was so much of that stuff in there!!! Unagi, shrimp tempura, spicy tuna, etc. What a beautiful boat.

I'm coming back here for sure. I call this my favorite Japanese restaurant south of the Sask River. Sorry Sushi Wasabi, Maki Maki, Sushi Sugoi, Kenko, Mikado, Nomiya, Furusato. Some other day.

P.S. We had a full pot of green tea with unlimited refills and it was $2. At Kenko, it would have been $3 x 4 = $12. Wow.

Kabuki....REVIVED!!!!. I have been eating at Kabuki (not this one, the one just off Whyte Ave) for the past 3-4 years now. When I first started going there, the food was absolutely amazing and the service was even better. I have pretty high standards when it comes to food and especially when it comes to sushi. The previous owner of the Whyte Ave Kabuki always gave my girlfriend and I free miso soup with every meal, the food was fresh every time and it was just hands down the best sushi place in Edmonton.

So after about 2 years or so I walk into Kabuki off Whyte Ave and the staff has completely changed....the owners are missing and although the food is good, it has changed a bit for the worse. Slightly smaller portions, different ingredients etc. Without any other options for good sushi in Edmonton I continue to go to Kabuki Whyte Ave.

UNTIL TODAY!!

I decided to check out this "new" kabuki for lunch and to my surprise....the original owner of the kabuki off whyte ave greets us at the door! She immediately recognizes us, seats us and begins to bring 2 appetizers on the house. The food is just as I had remembered! There are new items on the menu and the decor is a bit different, but Kabuki is back! I would recommend this restaurant to anyone. You will not be disappointed.

First place my friend and I went for sushi since covid lockdown. We went right at 1:00 when they just opened. No one was there, we were the only customers inside. Very clean and staff was following Covid protocol and explaining the new way they serve. Food was served very fast and tasted delicious. A little disappointment was the fry pork chop rice bowl wasn’t the best taste. But not too bad. It’s just my preference, like the one with Japanese curry better. Overall, good service and tasty food.

As an explorer, here's my spin... When family introduces you to a new venue, you never know what you get. Pleasantly surprise for this Japanese cuisine. The service was fast once the order was put in, and the Sushi was on the high 8 out of 10, rice was a little dry on the nigri. Definitely will return again.

First time here through a recommendation from a friend. Excellent food and good service. The Tempura had a light batter and was very crispy. Came during off hours and during a winter storm so I can't speak to lunch or dinner rush hours. Brought our three children and enjoyed our meal. Although two of our selections we're identified as spicy my kids ate them with no problem (they don't eat wasabi).

It’s a small typical looking sushi joint. The tuna sashimi was lovely though... that’s my number 1 tell tale if I will like a place. The quality of the sushi was great and the shrimp tempura is 1/2 price on Monday! The server was pleasant and happy and fast. It was a really nice dinner!

A little hole in the wall by a pizza 73 and a golf Sim place right off of Gateway Blvd...it is great sushi restaurant with fresh fish and the menu has plenty of choices.... everything we order was amazing and the prices were very fair as well!!! Our waitress was on point and there is plenty of parking around the strip mall. If you're craving sushi or Japanese cuisine most definitely put this place on your hit list!!!

Great service, great food, and a great selection of sushi! It has an exceptional dynamite roll. I highly recommend this place. At first it doesn't look look much on the outside, but it's nice and classy on the inside.
