Review Dim Sum Delight - Edmonton

I was craving Dim Sum so much and wanted to go Jumbo Dim Sum since we used to go there. Unfortunatly they were closed, so we came to this place. And we were pleasantly surprised! We ordered 6 Dim Sum and it was very tasty. I loved each and everything. Also, portion was very good. My husband can eat a lot, and he was leaving with full belly!

Staff was pleasant and friendly. Place was typical of an Asian restaurant. They have dim sum however missing the push carts. You'll have to order by checking items off on a form. They're also missing our fav bbq rice rolls! The curry squid and beef tripes were bland. We're not overly impressed.

Delicious dim sum, always fresh and tasty when I get takeout. Accompanying sauces are also very good. It is expensive but really there is no such thing as cheap dim sum. Also, the lady working there, maybe the owner idk, is super nice.

Great food and good sized portions. Ordered some take out dim sum a short while ago and it was great. Given the size of the order, it was ready in very good time and will definitely order from them again.

Food tasted great, prices seemed pretty high, staff was friendly and provided good service. Would not recommend if you have MSG sensitivity. I had a raging headache after our meal, which never happens to me.

I've been going to this place for years. Great little restaurant for a mix of western and authentic Chinese cuisine. They also have a handful of dim sum offerings as well. Food always ready soon after ordering. It's a good clean location. Has about 12 to 16 tables. Lots of parking. They are usually quite busy at lunch.

Current review May 2020: still the best dim sum in the city!!! Highly recommend! The people that work here treat you like family. Some of my favorites are: #2, #16, #20, and #33. Previous review a year ago: Absolutely fantastic! The owner, she is such a warm and friendly lady. Food is delicious and the service is great! We love their dim sum!

The food was delicious and made fresh. I enjoyed the calamari rings, sticky rice, on tasty egg rolls. The dim sum variety we ordered nicely presented .

Had a craving for Dim Sum, so I stopped into this place as I was driving along 170 Street. I "whole-in-the-wall" restaurant that services the many white and blue collared businesses nearby. Low on decor other than the many posters displaying the fair provided.

Service was prompt and continuous. It appeared that many of the other patrons were regulars as their "usuals" were delivered to their table almost as fast as they were seated.

After browsing the picture menu, my server took my order on a preprinted form that had the pricing for each dish. It wasn't long after that my ordered items were placed on my table.

As for the food, it came hot and well prepared. Comparing the taste to other Dim Sum I've tasted, it wasn't bad but not the best.

For lunch, Dim Sum is a pricey meal for one person. But it is a treat to experience now and then. Best to be enjoyed with others.

Dim Sum Delight offers many set price dishes of rice along with a meat choice. The War Wonton Soup seemed to be popular among many of the other luncheon guests. The next time I have my lunch here, I would probably choose one of these offerings.

Dropped in on a Sunday at 12:30 after finding our regular place was overfull. Didn't have much in the way of expectations after reading the reviews. There were two other parties when we arrived. The staff was attentive and energetic. Managed to get our order in and fixe the confusion over how many Tsing Taos we wanted. Then the hot and sour soup came out. Wow. My wife is a regular hot and sour fan, and she declared it superb; I'm lukewarm and I loved it. The gai lan was crispy, the pan fried sticky rice was better than most steamed sticky rice, and the tripe was tender. No, there are no trolleys but that may have been good, since the steamed dumplings were consistently good and tasty. We brought home the take-out menu, and we're looking forward to using it.

The food was very quick and amazing!! The staff was very pleasant and friendly. The steamed shrimp dumplings are great. This was the first time here. I will definitely be coming back!!

Was super pleased to find an all day dim sum place! Not it's not little carts to choose off of, but you get to order what you like over a menu and they bring it out hot and fresh. Staff was polite we all had a great experience.

I like this place. Dim sum all day! They have a picture menu which is awesome! You order what you want and they bring it out all at the same time! Oh and it's cheap too! What's not to like about that!

Best Chinese restaurant. Service was great. Shrimp with peaches and cream is my favorite. Pricey but worth it.

Favorite Lunch Spot. We dine here for lunch at least 2 times a week and are never disappointed. I don't understand the reviews about small portion sizes. Whatever I order is always enough for my lunch and then its packed up and I have my lunch for the next day. The Chinese chicken noodle soup is amazing. Tons of chicken and vegetables......Best soup ever. And the Curry chicken chow mein is also very good. The staff are very friendly and usually know what we order and we have never had bad service.

There's a restaurant for everyone - it's all about clientele and what you want. If you want good, down-to-earth service in a cozy environment where there are no annoying push carts and people talking loudly in Chinese - this is the place for you.

If you want traditional Chinese dim sum where it brings significant value and consistency, along with the atmosphere of push-carts and people mingling loudly in a crowded atmosphere, then this is not the place for you. Examples - Jumbo, Urban China, Cha for Tea, etc.

I found service to stand out the best here. The owner actually cares about you and speaks very good English. I think she speaks Chinese too. The food was OK, sometimes a hit, sometimes a miss. The prices are high no matter if it's a hit or a miss. So you have been warned. I would call this below average for bang for your buck but if you want service, there's just no other dim sum place in Edmonton that will give you a damn about you except this place.

The food was home-made and authentic. It doesn't taste like it's massively made. It's made to order and felt like it was catered to the client. Some dishes need improvement and I wonder if I can help them with that through reviews or just sit down and eat dish by dish and give them feedback (but I don't want to pay $5 a hit per dish to do that!!!)

Anyways, this was a hidden surprise for me and a hidden gem for many, give this place a shot if you ever wonder who would dare to open a dim sum restaurant with Jumbo and Cha for Tea nearby. Gutsy move. But come see it for yourself and you might understand how it survives on its own.

Yuck! Everything was chewy and slimy. Should have known - there were no Asian people there. Never a good sign.

We came to dim sum delight for lunch, the service was friendly and fast, received complimentary tea, the food was tasty and arrived quick, portion sizes were large for dim sum. The shrimp cakes were delicious and the lemon grass chicken skewers were crispy in the outside and juicy on the inside( hard to accomplish when the meat is so thin). I would recommend this place for lunch

Dirty. Service was very unprofessional. I speak Cantonese, but I ordered in English. It was funny listening to the ladies give the customer nick names like the "Fat Man in the corner' or the 'Wrinkly Hag over there'.

Room was dirty and greasy.

Portions are a bit small on some stuff, huge on others. strange.

My black bean chicken was chintzy, mostly celery and tiny bits of chicken. But my order of dim sum rice rolls where huge.

Over all the food and room was to greasy for me and I'd rather eat else where.

I am a chinese (not Cantonese) I work nearby and tired of having subway or burgers. Thus I found this place on urbanspoon and have went there for a try. The food was ok as typical westernized fake Chinese food. The food was also fresh as I can tell the mud on it. I accept the food, however, I was totally amazed about their price. It's almost double then any other fake Chinese food restaurant. if you are looking for some fast fake Chinese food and want to quickly get rid of your money because you are too rich. Then you should absolutely try this place.

Summer 2012. Enjoyed our visit. The food was a bit expensive for Dim Sum, but prices were in line with Edmonton's generally expensive Dim Sum.

Dim Sum is made to order rather than delivered by cart. All of the food arrived hot and fresh and was very tasty. The restaurant seemed to be family run and the service was friendly.

Excellent Food. I ordered a LARGE order for pick up last week. It was ready early, hot and soooo delicious!! We have used Dim Sum Delight in the past for company functions and I have gone on my own time as well. Great place for take out. Food is amazing and service is professional and quick!
Would HIGHLY recommend this place :)

Our favorite. This is our family's favorite place for Chinese food. We often come for lunch and occasionally order takeout for dinner. Everything is always very fresh and tasty. The meat is always tender, delicious, and never fatty or grisly. The lunch specials are always delicious - the wor wonton soup is my usual and it is loaded with vegetables, shrimp, bbq pork and tasty wontons (with lots of meat!). Even old western-type standards like chicken balls are good - huge chunks of meat with a not-too-thick coating of batter. Everything we've tried from the dim sum menu has been delicious as well.

This is a family-run restaurant and the staff are very friendly and know the regulars' names and favorite dishes. Service is very fast which is important at lunch.

We've tried other Chinese food in the city, but so far, nothing has beat Dim Sum Delight.

Decent experience. We had siu Mai, pan fried rice rolls, steamed rice in lotus leaves, hargow, egg tarts, and chicken siu Mai. All was accetable, but harrow was a little tasteless. Personable service. However, quaint surroundings and average food don't justify the rather high prices. I think there volume would increase if they eased their prices a bit.

'White-friendly' isn't a bad word for this restaurant, while there is western Chinese food being served here, the dim sum is excellent. One thing that makes this place special is the extremely friendly staff. Even though I come here sporadically, the staff always remembers me and we always have a nice chat if they're not super busy. Always love coming here.
Russ
Very good. Portion size pretty good. 5 out of 5

"White man's food" pretty much summarizes the type of dim sum and food here. The portions are small (3 pieces instead of the typical 4 pieces) and the price is often 150% of the price elsewhere. I did not encounter a single Asian customer in the restaurant (that is the most obvious sign that it is bad Chinese food).

Fantastically Fresh. Dim Sum Delight is a small family owned restaurant off 170th St in NW Edmonton. The dim Sum menu is the freshest and best in the city, and the a la carte Chinese is also among the best in the city.

If you like it spicy don't be shy to ask, they will take care of that too.

I found this place by accident and it has been a family favourite since.

Lin (the owner) and her gfamily and staff will take excellent care of you.

Hot, fresh and tasty! The menu is very easy to order from and the service is quick and friendly.

Very expensive for the portion size. Expect to pay almost double for dim sum items that you can get elsewhere. Fast and friendly service though.
