Review Careit Urban Deli - Edmonton

Wow!!! We usually get the delicious paninis but tonight I got the BBQ Dinner for 2 for $45. I can’t even choose which item I liked the most….it was all perfect. Amazingly juicy fried chicken, brisket, baked beans, Mac n cheese, fresh crunchy coleslaw and the fluffiest cheese biscuits I have ever had. We are full and still had a lot of leftovers. I am going to dream about this meal! (Waiting a bit before I dig into one of their yummy carrot chocolate chip cookies….)

Dont know what happened to this place, last few times I went here the food was perfect. Today I wasted 72 dollars on this place. Poutine was saltier than mcdonalds fries..heavily overspiced.. It wasnt even a poutine. Was basically gravy soup with potatoes an unmelted cheese curds. Chicken was alright. Tender but very salty. Will not be coming back.. Rather have mcdonalds at this point.

I’ve been going to Careit for a few years now and their products are very tasty, and the staff very helpful and friendly. Lately, every Friday after work, I’ve been picking up a few salads, various cold meals, and some their fried chicken that is probably the best in town, bar none. I’m a busy person and I find that shopping there for meals is definitely better than I can probably make for myself. I’m hooked.

This place is capital A amazing. The food that I have had here has been made with love and comes in big portions. I most definitely recommend this place. Start with the beef brisket sandwich.

Careit used to be great, great food, staff, the works. But I’ve noticed that they’ve raised their prices and shrunk the portion size…not great. In fact, the change is so drastic it’s no longer a viable meal option as one portion is no longer a meal despite the almost 20% price hike. Careit is off the take options list… too bad, the stroganoff was really good.

Everything I've tried here has been delicious! Really enjoyed the brisket poutine, chicken sandwich, and pulled pork. Great BBQ place super close to home

Everything is good here. Everything is scratch made. The Vietnamese sandwich is high end. But the poutine and fried chicken is very quietly the best in the city. Supporting local small business is a bonus here

Best Dill Pickle soup! Chicken Chipotle Sandwich is also amazing. Super friendly staff too. 10/10 recommend.

Not a bad place if you’re just hungry for a regular deli style sandwich, my boyfriend lives by their premade take home dinner trays. I’m sure everything they make is fresh but I particularly don’t like to eat reheated food. He loves them. He also loves putting ketchup on everything including pizza pops. You decide.

Delicious and as fresh as it gets. They staff were very friendly and knowledgable on their product. I will definitely be back for more of that shepherds pie 👌🏼

This place is in my neighbourhood so I was especially excited to try it. The interior is a mix between a cafe and a meat shop, which is odd but still cute. I got the banana bread french toast and unfortunately I would have to say my dish was a little small for the price, it wasn't very filling and when I asked for extra whip cream I was told it costed extra which bothered me. My friend got the corn beef hash and her dish was very tasty and loaded so I guess I just chose the wrong item. I probably wouldn't go back any time soon but maybe I'll try it again in the future.

I used to live near Careit and wish I had visited more often! <br/>Had breakfast a few times and had my go-to eggs benny which were awesome ! <br/>I have also tried their turkey cran sandwich which was equally delish<br/>Staff here are friendly and show genuine appreciation for your business :) which in turn wants you to happily spend more

Avoid the chick at the front that looks like Alabama Shakes at the Crestwood location in the day if you can...supergrumpy and makes you feel like like your doing them a big diservice by being there! Foods good.. service not so good! Atitude!!!!!

I ordered the Montreal Smoked Meat Panini Sandwich at the St. Albert location yesterday, which tasted awesome. I was out and about for work today and was near by this location so I dropped in and decided to order a panini sandwich. I got the Cuban Panini today and damn it's so good! Place was nice and clean. Friendly staff and I didn't wait long for my order.

My husband and I just ate at the Careit St. Albert location because it just opened up in our area and were excited to try it but came out thoroughly disappointed. He ordered the Chipotle chicken panini which had no flavor and absolutely no chipotle taste what so ever. They should call it plain chicken panini! We also ordered the coleslaw and roasted potatoes and peppers. The coleslaw was runny and soggy and the potatoes were dry and cold.. I thought they should of been heated up and when I asked if they could be heated the lady rudely said that they are supposed to be cold. Last is the carrot cookie which looked appealing but another disappointment.. It was extremely try and tasteless and looked a few days old. We were so unhappy that we will probably not come back which is sad because it would of been a nice addition to the area. Also really overpriced. :(<br/>

Salty!. Find it interesting that food is promoted as fresh and healthy - while it may be fresh, the sodium content must be through the roof. Cut back on the salt!! Better for everyone.

This franchise reminds me of Fifendekel but way more expensive... approximately $3 more per sandwich. My wife suggested picking up sandwiches as she had tried them at a work lunch and thought highly of the chipotle chicken panini. When I looked at the site menu and saw that the paninis were $9 I almost called my wife to tell her to just grab a turkey provolone sandwich from Costco ($5.99) but decided to try something new. My wife got the chipotle chicken and I ordered the Vietnamese - both were paninis. The sandwich wasn't huge and while the meat was fresh meat (as opposed to cold cut type meat) all things considered I do not think it was worth $9 at all. The sauce (asian mayo) tasted like mayo with sesame oil and was barely present on the sandwich so much so that I added mayo and sriracha when I got home which made it somewhat enjoyable - until I remembered paying $9 for it. After I was done I warmed up a pizza pop and made a plate of nachos as I was no where near full from the sandwich alone. I can only guess that a full meal (i.e. soup + sandwich + drink) would probably cost $16 - $20.<br/><br/>I'll consider subway or costcos (turkey provolone) next time I crave a sandwich before heading here as the price didn't match the quantity in my opinion.

First time visit, love the BLT and egger sandwich. Also the turkey corn chowder was yummy. Pancakes are ok and huge portion. It would be great if they serve latte.

Real good. Everything they sell here is really good. Pretty simple

Always good!. My sister and I come here often for lunch. We always order the roast beef sandwich and they load it so full of roast beef that we always share it! I always get soup as well, every single type of soup I have tried here has been absolutely delicious. For two of us to have lunch, we each order a cup of soup and share a sandwich so lunch is under $15 and we both leave STUFFED. The food is fresh and delicious - the soups are honestly like soup my your grandma or mom made at home. YUM!

Very healthy quick food. Soup is always good. Brunch is awesome. Could use good coffee.

Best breakfast I've had all. Good prices and friendly people could not ask for more!!!

Is It Gluten Free or Not?. I was very excited to see that Careit offered gluten free options on their online menu. I am a celiac who has very severe symptoms when I consume food that even so much as comes in contact with gluten.<br/><br/>I was interested in putting in an order for some gluten free food at Careit so I gave both the Crestwood and Hamptons location a call. I was very disappointed in both of the locations. Each location that I called could not tell me if they knew whether or not the gluten free options had come in contact with gluten. I understand that most places have a disclaimer, but they couldn’t even tell me if they had a procedure in place to help prevent the gluten free options from becoming contaminated. It would have been nice to hear that they use separate gloves to prepare the gluten free food and prepare it on a clean surface, but they didn’t say anything of the like. After a lot of stumbling over their own words they basically just said “I don’t know.” They were very uneducated on the subject.<br/><br/>After hearing this, I did not feel comfortable ordering from this place so I decided not to put in my order. I believe that if you are going to so strongly advertise gluten free options it might be good to have a good understanding of celiac friendliness also. I’ve heard good reviews about this place for the non-gluten free options and I hope that they improve their knowledge of gluten free so that I may be able to try it in the future.

Always A Great Sandwich. I have ALWAYS been IMPRESSED with EVERY sandwich there, as well as their cookies & desserts. A bit chaotic & carefree service, but that's what a friendly deli is all about; FUN & FRESH FOOD! I also feel the prices are NOT expensive i.e. GREAT VALUE!
BananaRocket
Good but a bit over priced.. Service was a bit spotty. I was there at 2 pm and it seamed like all the front counter people had left and the kitchen people didn't know where everything was. They had to hunt around for a soup bowl.<br/><br/>Room was a deli with a few tables and a window front counter to eat at. It was clean and organized.<br/><br/>Portions are par with other craft sandwich places like Elm and Swiss2Go.<br/><br/>I had the beef dip and a soup. It was good but nothing really jumped out at me.<br/><br/>I also found it a bit pricey because a modest sized sandwich, soup and drink was almost $20.<br/><br/>I will give the place a second try to see if the other sandwiches have a little more excitement.

Excellent "fresh" food at a good price too. I will for sure be returning.

Good Stuff. Good Prices.. Went there today. Got the Roast Beef with Swiss (7.95) and I thought the sandwich was big. Real Turkey put through a deli slicer. The Cranberry Mayo was really really good. Also tasted like it was made in house. Got a small Strawberry Ice Cream (Pinocchios) which was a noticeable mark up for a large where it's chiefly sold at the Italian Market (understandable). <br/><br/>They've a hefty variety of take home food also. The Meats looked really good (AAA Tenderloin Steaks for 5.66/100g), Lamb Meatballs looked great (2.50/ea) and I wish I got some., The desserts would be a problem if I lived in the area. A fair sized Choco Mousse for $5.00. Big ass brownie for the same price. There's a hefty amount of Gluten Free food on the menu (Soups included) if that's a problem for some. <br/><br/>As mentioned in other reviews, it can be seen as expensive. But when you're paying for ingredients in a sandwich that aren't 'Subway Quality and Taste', and taste FAR superior, it's worth the prices. Personally I think it's very reasonable. <br/><br/>The 142nd address has no place to sit to eat beyond a high table at the front, so be prepped to eat and go. I recommend the Parks just West up the road.

Great food!! Had the BLT and egger sandwich and the house salad. Both were fresh and tasty. However, The lady at the counter was a little cold and could have been a bit more helpful/friendly.

A great place for an awesome sandwich. Try the mushroom cap sandwich; it's delicious.

Whether you are just looking for deli meats, freshly made sandwiches or brunch, this place is always a winner. The pulled pork sandwich is amazing, but I always go back for the Italian panini. They have ready made meals you can just pick up on the way home. It's like a gourmet dinner with deli convenience. If you live in the far west, this is a must.

This is my favorite place! We go there all the time - pick up meat and salad on the way home, soup and sandwich for lunch or a delicious breakfast on a Sunday morning. The food is always good and the service is excellent. Thank you Care It for making my life just that much easier!

Fresh lunch on the go0 Careit Urban Deli.. I visited the 199 st. location, not the 142 st. one. <br/><br/>I stopped by as I was in the area and looking for a fast, healthy lunch. <br/><br/>I quick iPhone'd the yelp reviews for it, and figured it was worth a shot. I was a bit apprehensive given most of the reviews highlighted a high price, but I had a large sandwich, soup, and bottle of pop for $10.99. I don't think that's too bad. A quick browse in the display case found pre-made entrees of many types, suitable for 2 people easily, for $15.00. Half the price of restaurants. Not too bad. <br/>I wish when people say things are expensive, they'd give an example so people can judge for themselves. <br/><br/>Anyways, I got a smoked ham and cheddar sandwich on a whole wheat kaiser. The sandwich came with the usual veg. toppings and was really good. Really fresh tasting and worth every penny. <br/><br/>The soup however... bland, flavourless, and entirely forgettable. I had the chicken noodle and it just tasted like chicken and noodles in water. Pretty disappointing. <br/><br/>I felt like it was a good deal considering the greatness of the sandwich, and may likely have been a one-off on the bad soup. I'll definitely try it again if I'm in the area.

I’ve been going to Careit Urban Deli  for a few years now. When I used to work on the west end it was close enough that we could go grab a sandwich during the lunch break. Since Careit is so close to my new home and we’ve been so busy with unpacking, painting, organizing and such I’ve managed to eat there a handful of times in the last few weeks. They strive for “ as natural as possible without the extra cost “. All of the meats for their sandwiches are from local farms and are cooked in house.

CareIt Urban Deli is a great deli in the west end (Hamptons and Crestwood) that carries a line of gluten free prepared meals. All of their meats are purchased from Irvings Farm Fresh, which produces only gluten free meats . We have tried their Jambalaya prepared meal and purchased some goat cheese wrapped salmon. The Jambalaya had a good kick, so check your spice tolerance before ordering. The salmon was from the deli counter. We took it home and cooked it up with some pesto. It tasted great. Each location has a different menu and has their gluten free items clearly marked. This is a great place for your gluten free shopping , especially for a quick meal. You can also sit down and eat a brunch or a prepared meal - they will warm it up for you. Some of the gluten free meals available at Hamptons are: barbecued pulled pork coconut rice with kaffir lime leaves butter chicken sweet and sour meatballs Sheppard's pie CareIt is located in the Hamptons at: In Crestwood: 9672 142 Street Nw, Edm
