My favorite spot for Vietnamese good. Great menu selection and the service is great. Love their broth. You need to give them a try.
Always fast, great food and service!! Huge menu selection and very accommodating! Thanks guys!!!
Great food, great service!
It’s been quite some time since I’ve been to Hung Phat only because I no longer live on the south side of the city. Stopped by yesterday since we were over there and I wasn’t disappointed as usual. I miss this place, it used to be my go to!
Ordered the green onion cakes, beef satay and my bd had beef chow mein. I am in love with the satay here.
I think I’m going to make it a regular thing to go to the south side a little more often when I’m craving good authentic Vietnamese cuisine!
Dinner at Hung Phat tonight.
We are greater at the door by a friendly server who seats us immediately. He returns right away with a pot of tea and waters for us. First thing noticed about the menu is that it is large. Pages of items to pick from. We decide to order a seven color vermicelli bowl and a beef pho bowl. Dishes arrive a few minutes later delivered by the same wait staff.
Beef pho bowl is large and has a rich and full flavored broth. Beef is tender, noodles are cooked and it is served with a plate of sprouts and basil.
Seven color vermicelli bowl has prawns, sugar cane shrimp, in house made spring roll, chicken, pork and two different kinds of beef. Under the rice noodles is lettuce , cucumbers and carrots. Bowl is very full ! All proteins are cooked perfectly and have great flavor, spring roll is hot, and crispy, and sugar cane shrimp is tasty and served still on the cane.
Thanks for dinner, it was great!
Note- large free parking lot out front of restaurant.
This is my parents go to place for a quick bite on the weekend. The family who runs it knows us now..haha. It's a decent Vietnamese restaurant that offer your favourites at a relatively decent price point. Not as good as some of the restaurants in Chinatown, but this will do. The pho is tasty and the three colour rice is always good. Consistent, tasty and convenient location for south siders.
Hung Phat still is the best place on the south side to get Vietnamese food. Bonus that it’s also one of the few Vietnamese places in town that are open on Tuesday! Such a rarity to find. Ol and I hadn’t hung out in a looooooong time so after a random encounter the day before, we decided to meet up. Her favourite is pho, which seems to be the only thing we go for when we eat. No complaints on my end, besides the unfortunate fact that I had already ate Vietnamese for lunch earlier that day.
There is a good-sized vegetarian section in the menu, which is uncommon for a Vietnamese restaurant. My faves: Ginger Tofu (sauce is like that for ginger beef) and Lemongrass Tofu on Vermicelli. Consistently good food, good prices and fabulous and quick service :) This is my go-to place for work lunches and dinners when working late.
Excellent!. I'm a regular here and you can't go wrong with any of the food.
Good customer service.
The owner is friendly and remembers a face.
Best Vietnamese in Edmonton!
A Delicious Meal. My boyfriend is a regular at this restaurant for lunch and he convinced me to go for supper. It was delicious! I ordered the ginger beef with vermicelli noodles and we both shared green onion cakes as an appetizer. We both love Vietnamese and this did not disappoint. The ginger beef was a great combination of flavor and crispiness! The service was spot on as well. We didn't wait more than 15 minutes for our food, and the lady who served us checked on us and brought us waters without us needing to ask. Will definitely go back!
Had Pho with rare beef and flank, was real good. Had it with mein noodles, even better!
Luv it. As a regular customer (once a week) I guess I could be considered biased but the food and service in this place are just great tried most items on the menu and its all good. the service is fast and polite . the food consistent in quantity and quality . This is a family owned business and the people who own it take pride in what they do and value you as a customer . if you like Vietnamese food try it . you will leave wishing all restaurants could be this good.
Great surprise. My husband and I like to check out Vietnamese restaurants. It is a staple to our weekly menu and yes we do have a couple sweet spots we like to go to, so this restaurant came as a sweet surprise! Not only did we have great service but the food was really good. We had the Beef Satay soup and the chicken chow mein. Both They say they use no msg and no preservatives which is really good bonus.
Ordered pick up today for lunch as a first time visitor. Had the salad rolls and the beef satay noodle soup and it was phenomenal! I had half for lunch and will be able to have half for dinner. I will definitely be returning as it was delicious and ready super fast.
Addicted to this place!. I work close to Hung Phat, so it only makes sense that I return frequently. I love this restaurant! They are incredibly busy around lunch time, so I typically order a pick up, ready in 10-15 minutes. The people are friendly and food is very clean and tasty. Sometimes a vietnamese or asian restaurant is too greasy, too bland, too much MSG or kind of un-clean tasting. Not Hung Phat. Portions are healthy and prices are just right as well.
I often eat the 3 colours vermicelli, their 'fish sauce' is the best I've ever tasted, its got a hint of sweetness. Their spring rolls are great, onion cakes are too. My office is addicted to their War Wonton Soup, the broth is very flavourful. It's taken me a long time to find a noodle soup I love, as I'm not a huge fan of their beef noodle soup and I'm too nervous to try the spicy satay soup because I'm not a fan of too much spiciness. I personally like the house special soup, but it doesn't come with Thai basil, a chilli pepper instead. My favourite is the Rice Noodle soup, perfect broth, Thai basil, lots of meat.
It's a must try, but don't be surprised if the service isn't great at noon, they try their best but it's a humming place.
Very nice. Went there for the first time at around 3pm, there were about 15 people in the restaurant, the one lady that was waitressing was great, she sat me down, gave me menu, serve other tables, pack up there left over, answer the phone for take out, collecting money from take out, and Serving my Spicy Beef Noodle Soup in 10 minutes. Now, that is service. As for the noodle, I think it was great.
A good start. My favourite southside Viet restaraunt (My Tho) closed down. Sigh. So I needed to find a replacement. I didn't think I'd be able to, at least not easily or quickly, but I may have been overly pessimistic. I've now tried a few dishes and so far this place is stepping nicely into the gap. The rare beef pho is terrific, the satay beef soup so-so, and the lemongrass vermicelli quite outstanding. All portions are healthy sized and the ingredients are fresh and crisp. It is a very busy place though and the kitchen must be a little overworked so I would expect some misses. I overheard a few grumbles from neighbouring tables, but that was about the service not the food.
I really love this restaurant. Lovely environment, good service and tasty food. I'd been there with my friend this week ( just by chance) and really sure will come back soon. The thing I like the most is serving portion for each dish which is just enough, then I dont have to waste my left over ( I'm always lazy to take it home though lolzzz). Beside, the acceptable price is another reason to keep my feet back.
Great portions, decent price. Another Vietnamese establishment taking advantage of the industrial Area of Edmonton. As expected most dishes will run you $8-11 dollars where as in china town the same dishes are only $6-8. Prices are reasonable and the portions you get are enough to fill you up as if it were a dinner meal.
I've been here twice this week to try their #12 Special Beef Noodle Soup & #49 Four Colours Vermicelli for lunch and so far have not left disappointed. A lot of Vietnamese restaurants lose the flavor because they are making it in massive quantities but this place tastes like how mom cooks it. It is a place i will be going back from time to time.
Try to avoid the lunch rush. 1:00pm and after is a good time to get food at this place otherwise, be sure to wait a bit.
Staff: 6/10 (Staff are really friendly but when it gets busy there's only 2 waitresses to serve 20+ tables. Drinks and utensils are often missed)
Decor: 7/10 (Lots of walking space and distance between tables)
Food: 9/10 (Lots of Flavour and good sized portions)
- friednooodles ;)
Went for a late lunch on a Saturday on a friend's recommendation, and look forward to visiting again. I had the combination satay soup (no. 26 on the menu), and hands down, it was the best I have ever tasted. It had beef, chicken, shrimp, and squid, and as I dug around under the noodles I found shredded lettuce and julienned cucumbers; a surprising treat. The broth is addicting; not too sweet, and a good amount of spice. Hubby ordered pho with tendon, beef, and brisket; he said it was good too, but finished off my satay because mine was so good. Can't wait to try other items on their menu. And the place is really cute, and the people working there were very nice.
Great food!!!!. Very good food and great service I have ever experienced for the first time I came. I like the fresh and clean environment there! Sure to come back again!
I ordered a pho dac biet. The broth was aromatic and a deep caramel colour; clear except for the few clusters of fat globules circumferencing the bowl. Garnished with white onion and sparse bits of green onion–the meat was a bit sparse as well. Initial taste of the soup revealed brief earthy notes from beef, followed by a velvety and clean finish. The broth was rich and soothing. I added sprouts, mint leaves, and a touch of lemon, then continued eating. I feel it’s a shame when I see people slather on hoisin sauce when eating pho; it completely undermines the complexity of the soup. Oh well. Beef balls were generously sized and had strong hints of black pepper. Beef tendons were slightly rubbery at first bit, but eventually dissolved into a gelatinous texture. Decent cuts of flank and steak. Springy noodles, but after sitting in the broth for a while, the noodles felt thin and bodiless. Overall, an enjoyable bowl of pho, but not perfect. Dumbomon approves.
