Review Central Social Hall - Edmonton

Well this place has really gone downhill. I went on a Monday and maybe 3 other tables had been seated already. 1)A waitress comes up to us after 15 minutes and asks if we are ready to order but we hadn't even been greeted or got a menu/qr code yet. Our actual waitress comes shortly after and we are greeted normally and I thought they just had a moment, everything should be better now. 2) the food was so basic and mediocre.... I could have made this chicken buffalo bowl(substituted for tofu) at home and it would have had more flavour. The chicken on my friends pasta looked off and not fresh/good chicken. When you're paying $20 and up for a dish and competing with earls and cactus club, I would expect better than this. It just felt like none of the staff cared. 3) being harassed by fruit flies the entire service. I worked in the serving industry.. that only happens if you aren't taking out the trash or cleaning your bar properly. And who wants to eat with a fly swarming around the entire time. 4) the waitress took our plates afterwards and asked us if we wanted our bill. We said yes and she left.... 10-15 minutes later she comes back and asks us AGAIN if we want our bill. Keep in mind the restaurant was dead... No I'm not high maintenance, but when you go out to a restaurant the staff are giving you a "service" and I respect servers for having to deal with people cause I've done it. It just felt like no one cares about doing their job and did it to the minimum. I don't know if the food is normally better but I will never be going back to eat and central again.

Got sat on the patio and waited 15 minutes to get served. We never got greeted even though the servers looked at us so we ended up leaving. We had everything ready to order and the servers ignored us every time they walked by. The atmosphere was great and the menu looked awesome too so I was really looking forward to trying it out. I’m really disappointed because I haven’t been here in a while and was really looking forward to having some drinks and a good time. Will likely avoid coming here if that’s how it’s going to be.

Visiting Edmonton on business and this was close to my accommodation so decided to try it despite some of the more recent reviews. Unfortunately, the reviews were mostly accurate. I understand the struggles that businesses are experiencing these days with finding reliable staff, and I am a patient person, however, this was not a good experience. The only reason I gave it 3 stars was because the ginger chicken bowl tasted good and came out in a timely manner. To start the experience, the restaurant was occupied with 4 other parties (1 table of 4, all the rest 2). Ice water was delivered about 5 minutes after arrival and the server asked what we wanted to eat. No drink order and no menu or QR code available?? The server barely spoke 10 words to us, seemed to be avoiding being a server at all. Possibly was his first night on the job? Drinks were ordered and arrived but no refills ever offered until we caught him briskly passing us avoiding eye contact. Ordered steak & potatoes & the above. The server asked if the "steak was alright medium rare" (5 words) like it was our only option and when it came out, it was well done and literally just steak and potatoes in a small pan, zero presentation. We literally felt like we were animals being fed as the simple dishes were slid in front of us sheepishly and the server walked away without saying a word! For the cost of eating out these days, I would think restaurants would do a little quality control and mentor the staff appropriately to be great, dynamic servers. To add to the experience, the music was very unique and loud for a Tuesday afternoon at 5pm. I would not recommend this place.

Patio for the summer is great to just have some drinks. Cocktails were all $13 so it’s on the pricey side, food was just like any other place

It was my sister’s birthday and Ryan was fantastic!!!! Between the shot recommendations and the secret cues that I used ordering without the whole table knowing, he made her night! Super attentive! Super fun! Glad we had him as a server tonight :)

Attentive staff, delicious food and drinks. Would recommend Central to family and friends, especially with seating outside on their new re-illustrated patio this summer.

Great place! Other reviews aren't accurate. I'm here on business and this is close to my hotel. Delicious food and very attentive staff. I'll definitely come here again when I'm here for business. Very impressed!
