Review Mr Mikes Steakhousecasual - Edmonton

Sarah Mountjoy
My husband and I enjoyed an evening out with friends and had an overall great experience. Our server was polite, friendly and attentive. Two of us have allergies that we explained to the server, and we appreciated that he took the time to speak with the kitchen staff before placing our orders. (One celiac/one shellfish allergy). Unfortunately, this restaurant does not have separate fryers for food, so the 2 of us with allergies could not have the spinach dip appetizer that we ordered- or fries. All 4 of us ordered steak dinners, which were delicious! They were all cooked exactly as ordered. If not for the fryer situation, this review would be an easy 5 stars.

Our server was Cole and he was awesome to put up with our drunk girls group. Food was phenomenal, drinks were amazing and got a brownie for my bday. Cody was the bartender and he made us up some wicked shots. Your staff is great, atmosphere was great. Definitely be going back!

Ordered the stuffed mushrooms as an appetizer and the peppercorn sirloin pasta. The stuffed mushrooms were delicious but the pasta was not the greatest, pretty bland sauce - tasted more like salsa around the pasta and the steak was too chewy and tough. The appetizer came out right away but the main dishes took over 40 min to come out, they said the kitchen was backed up and apologized. My friend got the burger and said it was delicious but by the time she received it, it was cold :/ Overall the food was mediocre, however the staff were friendly.

We arrived and must wait to be seated. A bit worry earlier as the hostess told us to wait without asked our name & there few people waiting before us. Thinking this will be screwed but I wanna see how he will calls us.A lady (a manager maybe) came out brought the lists and called a family before us by name, without hesitate I asked her that I should be in the list but previous hostess didn’t asked our name. She looked at the lists, & said it is for 2 people “ladies waiting in the bench” 😆?? I said okay that he puts our name? I’m fine with that. The lady said just give few minutes we will seat to your table. Not long after the 1st hostess brought us to our table. A server was good, we ordered 2 coktail alcohol free and she advised us to get a big bowl glass for share instead of two glasses which is better & we ordered a steak with lobster and a steak with mac cheese and it was perfect. Overall I love the food

The staff were all amazing as were the prices. The garlic parm fries were fantastic, however, the burger left something to be desired. It didn't have the best flavor and it's taste seemed that of a preformed boxed patty. The margaritas are pretty decent as well. I will definitely go there again, but will opt for a different meal.

Love the atmosphere, especially the upper level. Great selection of dishes, perfect for everyone. Service is the best part, friendly, speedy, and always refilling drinks/checking up often.

Went to this restaurant with my family while staying at Fantasy Land Hotel. We had a fantastic experience! The service was beyond expectations & the food was amazing! Totally recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting or staying at West Edmonton Mall. Wish I could give a 10*, that's how satisfied I am!

Our server was Kelsey, and as a person who has worked before as a waiter at a high-end restaurant in Vancouver, I know that the bare minimum as a server is to be attentive to the customers and keep their glasses full whenever you can. Kelsey failed to do these essential duties as a server. Also, their Bugaboo Ribs and virgin cocktail tasted disgusting and terrible. Their soft drinks gotta be tap water mixed with soda syrup. I wanted not to tip at all, but I still tipped 10%.

The soup was cold, the rice was dry and vegetables were dry. The salt shaker was empty. My friend said his meal was good. The server did not know how to use the Mr Mike app code. I've been to other Mr.Mikes that were better. We were seated right away though. Otherwise, staff were friendly.

mr mikes should change their name to magic mikes since this is where the magic happens on bourbon street. best staff and food, highly recommend to all of my family, friends, and even enemies

Went there for the first time a couple of days ago for lunch. The food was amazing, drinks were fantastic, and our orders came with great timing and everything was as ordered. Very friendly and attentive staff. We even played a game of crib with our lunch and I have to say having all those board games available for your customers to play is a fantastic idea! Enjoyed everything very much. We'll definitely be back!

Unfortunately we won’t be returning to this restaurant. The two males servers were more interested in flirting with a group of girls and one was definitely an off shift staff members. One server cleaned a table but not the chairs and when guest were seated thank goodness the customer noticed macaroni and cheese on the seat from the children before them. During our time they we noticed staff throwing things at each other. Not going to even grade the food at this time.

Ridiculously horrible service. Hostess blew right past us to grab menus without a simple hello. When we were seated, our server walked past our table SEVERAL times without acknowledging our existence. It wasn't a busy night. And even if it was, again, some sort of acknowledgement would have been nice. So we got up and left. Gave up a gift certificate we received to a family who was mid-meal there. A free meal wouldn't even be worth putting up with that service. We went right next door to Tony Roma's where we WERE greeted with a smile AND a hello (gasp!) and enjoyed the rest of our evening.

We went last night to try it out. Got yam fries and calamari for appetizers. When it came, yam fries were soggy and cold and calamari was salty. Ignored the prob with the appetizers coz we're really hungry. Thought it would be better when mains come, but it didnt. For mains, we got 2 cajun ribeye both medium rare. I cut right into the middle of the steak like I always do and it was medium well. I flagged down the server and she asked to see it so I showed her. She told me that their medium rare looks just like that. She went away for a few minutes and came back. Asked me if I wasnt happy with my steak but it would be rare and still insisted that the steak she gave me is medium rare. My friend is almost done with his steak so I just said I didnt want another steak. I showed her the other half and agreed that it is medium well but insisted that the other half that I showed her is medium rare. Mind you, I sliced it RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE. Come on, through out my career I've never cooked or served a medium rare light pink in the middle and dry as cows tongue in the restaurant that I work. This is the first time that a server argued with me about the temperature of the steak. In our restaurant, server would take it away immediately and show us. We'd fire up another steak or whatever they ordered and then its either me or the head chef who is gonna serve the meal personally.

Excellent service from the moment we walked in. Family of 4 and we were all very happy with the service and the food. The appetizer was delicious. All 4 meals were delicious. Our server was lovely and brought everything we ordered out quickly. Not a single complaint. Will definitely return.

Took forever to get a table, even though there were quite a few empty ones. We ended up sitting on the noisy patio, as we waited for over 25 minutes with a hungry 3 year old. Took awhile to get our drinks, I gulped my tiny "supposed to be 2 ounce" Caesar in about 5 minutes and I waited another 20 minutes to get another one. Food came out eventually...hubby ordered medium rare, it was cooked well done, not a hint of redness or juice. Ordered my steak medium well and came out like my flip flop. My stuffed potato was dried out and tasted like it was made last week. We complained about the steak, who wouldn't as it was terrible. The assistant general manager came and talked to us, apologized profusely, and comped our whole bill. That was the only good thing about the meal. Service and food most definitely don't match the prices. We went about 4 years ago and it was great, not sure what happened, but won't be going back!

We stopped early asking for a table for 11 people and although we could not make a reservation we were happy to be seated very quickly as the hostess remembered us when we came back.

Service was excellent and prompt. Our waitress was very pleasant and attentive. The food was quite nice and everyone was happy with their meal. Spinach dip and steak bites for an appie. Steak, stir fry, burgers, and the fav was the coconut crusted fish.

The free birthday dessert topped it off. A giant bowl with a bit of everything. Thanks for a nice meal!

Happy hour at Mr Mikes at the mall. We are quickly seated at a booth in the back where we wait a long time for our waitress to arrive. Restaurant has one other table, so why the wait unknown? We order Caesars bacon and regular. Both arrive with four ounces of there house beer. Caesar has good flavor and lots of seasoning around the rim.
After waiting again we order apps for the table. Bruschetta, stuffed mushrooms and left and rights ( hot wings). Appy s arrive all at once. Bruschetta and left and rights arrive presented nicely. Mushrooms arrive presented poorly. Bruschetta has pretty good flavor. Left and rights are spicy, the normal dunked in hot sauce and served with a ranch dressing. Mushrooms come in a escargot type bowl covered in a white cheese seafood topping that is lacking flavor, in need of salt and not warm enough with toast. We wait for our waitress to return to order more drinks unsuccessfully before finally paying and leaving.

This place is weirdly bad for a spot on Bourbon St. The food is bad, the drinks are bad, the service is remarkably bad. I would almost recommend going here just so you could experience one of the only restaurants that couldn’t get anything right.

Nothing fresh about any of the food. I had previously been to a Mr Mikes in Airdrie years ago at that time they had wicked happy hour / night time specials with bacon wrapped scallops and funky Caesars, I saw none of that on the menu so I imagine it's changed. We ordered the appetizer bruschetta which was quite good, however the bread could have been thinner and toasted more for a crunch. The appetizer mushrooms were loaded with cream cheese and quite rich, unfortunately I did not have a knife to cut them as we asked for cutlery and it came only with forks. I like to half them to savour them more. The Montreal smoked meat sandwich came out looking like a beef dip with very little meat (packaged) and a coleslaw with a ton of paprika. Drinks are okay. Overall for $100 we could have had a fresher meal elsewhere.

This restaurant is horrible, 20 bucks for a glass of wine.... the vegetables with my steak where frozen...... service was horrible........... 4 dollar bacon bits? Not even real bacon? Wendy's would have been a better choice than this crap

Just because it's in west Edmonton mall doesn't make you special

We were seated right away, no problem. I'm with my 4 year old son and they sit us upstairs even asked if he was good with stairs. Off to a good start, hostess raced my son up the stairs. Sat us at a table, I asked for the bench just to corral the little guy. No problem again and that was where it ended. Literally... 25 minutes went by and nothing. Servers
moving around the room food delivered to other tables. Tables that sat after us got their drinks, then their food. We weren't even acknowledged. Walked out and went across to Moxies. Food on the table before I finished this review.

Disclaimer- this kind of restaurant, chain steakhouse, is not my cup of tea so bear that in mind.
But I'm giving it 1.0 not just because I don't like is kind of restaurant but because our food was pretty bad. My steak was over cooked and looked like someone drove over it with a quad, many years ago. my food was cold and everything just clearly came in a readymade freezer bag and then the line cook just reheats it.
Service was friendly. Sangria was good .
Deanna Jackson
Steak and sirachi shrimp was very good however veggies and side dishes were absolutely cold. I also had a long island ice tea that i was so looking forward to however , it was not the best. They waitress offered to bring new sides but we didn't want to wait that long so the manager did discount our bill sustainably.

For anyone that was born on the West Coast in around the 70's... Mr. Mikes has been a staple. I have been going to this franchise since I was knee-high to a grasshopper. (Many, many years!) The format that they used to have was a buffet style. You used to go up to the buffet to get your salads and sides as your steak was being grilled behind the scenes, to your specifications.

Times have changed. Mr. Mike's has gotten with the times and the experience is now a sit down one. This particular location is in West Edmonton Mall's "Bourbon Street". There is a mixture of booths and tables. The decor is of the coast and Haida people. The atmosphere is a little on the loud side as the restaurant is open to Bourbon Street.

We have never had to wait too long for a table, even with the restaurant location. The staff seems to be efficient at getting people seated quickly.

I mainly go to Mr. Mike's for the nostalgia, it brings back a lot of great childhood memories. As an adult now - the food is pretty decent. You can get a great steak dinner at the going rate, and the service is usually good.

Mr. Mikes has always been a family affair. There are crayons for the kids and a children's menu.

So if you have to brave the mall and you just can't do the food court one more time - try Mr. Mike's! You just might like it!

It was clean, nicely done decor and the appetizers were OK. Pleasant staff. That was it. Both steaks were less than mediocre. The salmon was fine. No reason to return to this place again.
Disappointed.... Nothing about my experience at Mr. Mike's was good. The service, the food, the prices, etc. were below satisfactory.

The hostesses as well as the waitresses seemed very inexperienced; the hostesses appeared to be 16 years of age or younger (which was weird). The service was very slow for the restaurant being only two-thirds full. We waited at least 20 minutes each for our drinks, dessert, take-out container, and bill. It was the longest, most tedious restaurant waiting I can remember experiencing.

The food was not nearly worth the price. It also seemed not very fresh at all. A lot of their meals are made with garlic bread (mainly the burgers and sandwiches) that tasted like it was straight off the shelf of Safeway. It was also way too much bread for a meal as it was so thick.

Overall, the food lacked flavour, was way overpriced, and the service was bad.

We're from BC so remember the good ol' days of Mr. Mikes so were surprised to hear there was one in West Edmonton Mall. On the urging of some friends, we decided to go with some out of town guests.... I was impressed with the extensive menu and the reasonable wine prices. I wouldn't pay $13.99 again for my husband's Bulldog but he enjoyed it so that's all that matters.

Really rude server, very slow service, and empty on a Saturday evening. It's a shame the food wasn't good enough to make up for the terrible service.

So 1st time going out to meet some new co-workers & I needed to eat first. So I popped into Mr Mike because I seen their 1/2 priced quick bite menu.
I sat at the bar & overhear the bar tender call a customer a douche bag because he only left a $10 & paid in cash.
Well wasn't impressed at all. He came over & tried to tell me the the Lebowski bowling shirt I was wearing was familiar but couldn't place it. I explained that it was from a show called The Big Lebowski. He said no that was wrong.
I left & won't be back.

Okay food, horrible service - probably only stays open due to out of town traffic. My husband and I stopped here at my suggestion, as I had been to this location a few months prior with some girlfriends while shopping; had great drinks and shared an appie that time.

We were seated quickly, which was nice as it was very busy. Our server came over promptly and was friendly. Took our drink orders and we got them in a good time. The waiter walked by and saw us one our phones (mind you we were from out of town and were checking in with family) we passed by again and placed the “BattleShip” game on our table with a smile. Neat idea. When he walked by again he tapped the game box as if to remind us to get off of our phones. Really did not mind that, the purpose behind it was good, but I am an adult I will be on my phone if I need to be.

I ordered the sliders and asked for no onions on the plate due to an allergy and I order the shrimp mushroom caps. My hubby ordered a chicken club sandwich. When the orders arrived, by the Manager, not our server, my sliders came out with an onion was on the plate. I brought it to his attention immediately and he asked how bad my allergy was. I was a little shocked that he would ask that, just because I don’t need an injection, it is bad enough. He stated he will bring another one as the one slider was touching the onion. That was fine with me. So I started in with the mushrooms; they were not good, but after my first one I set them aside and had no desire to finish them. When the Manger came back he brought one slider and I told him the mushrooms were not good. He had to advise me that those are their best sellers, but he took them and said he would take them off the bill.

As we ate, no server to be found. No drinks, no ketchup. Hubby had to go up to the bar and ask for water and brought them back to the table. After that our server would not speak to us. He walked by and almost slammed the bill on the table. Okay?!? I guess we are not having any other drinks or dessert here. We placed bill on other side of the table and looking at it while the server came back grabbed it off the table and crumpled it up saying nothing. He came back again and put it on the table again. We decided we will not stay and felt the server was really rude. We wait and waited for them to come to the table to take payment but he never came. Hubby went up to the bar again and asked to pay. She was kind enough to do so and asked the Manager to come over so he would know about our experience. He did offer for us to come back another time and we would “take care of us”, we advised were from out of time and probably would not come back anyway. That is probably what they count on since it is a destination location for out of towners.

Sliders were good. Their signature lemonade drink is great!! Loved since the last time I was there. I know how to make it now at home, so no need to go back, even now that a Mr. Mike’s opened in my city.

Beef Dip Dud. I ordered the beef dip but promptly sent it back. The au jus was tasteless and the meat was cut too thick, and had no flavor. Even with the horse radish mayo...it was disappointing.

Once is enough!. This place sucks. Although our server was friendly enough and did his job properly, everything else lacked. Horrible drinks and food. So average and not even done well. Totally bland and nothing special. I don't know how this place is even still around. First and last time going there!

This place IS too expensive for the type of food they offer. Cannot recommend this place

Reservations. Tried to book a reservation for 20 with over 2 weeks notice. First I was told that they stopped taking reservations (conveniently) about 2 weeks ago. The gentleman said he would call me back when he could look at the "sales from last year". Never got a call back. I phoned again a few days later and spoke to the same man. He then states that the sales were "really high" that weekend last year(thanksgiving long weekend) and he was unable to accommodate our reservation. I asked him why, since guaranteeing that there be at least the 20 of us would be great for sales in case this year isn't that busy. He really didn't have a good answer. He then made a comment about how their policy is to never take reservations on Friday or Saturday. I know for a fact that they did at one point because we reserved a table of 20 for my husbands b-day last year. I also have worked in many restaurants and thanksgiving long weekend has never been busy. After I got off the phone with him I called a restaurant across the way and asked about a reservation and was told to just come early as "they were NEVER busy on long weekends". (The second restaurant has a very reputable name and would be the busier of the 2 naturally) I felt like he just didn't want our business. That sucks since I eat at Mr. Mikes whenever I am at the mall and really love their food. I have never actually seen the place packed which is another reason I found it odd that he wasn't more accommodating. I believe we will be taking our party of 20 elsewhere now :-(

This place sucks! Poor service, bad food and horrible drinks. First the waitress spilled our drinks all over our table and forgot to come back to wipe it up. We had to ask for cutlery and straws for our drinks and waited forever. The restaurant was dirty and the food wasn't very good. The meal did not match the description in the menu. Worst Caesar I've ever had in my life. Go somewhere else.

Good food and service. First time here. Both our entrees were great. The stuffed mushroom appetizer could have been hotter but it was still good. The service was all we could have asked for and the price was reasonable. I would definitely recommend it
Jeff Eaton
The food tasted great. The portions were generous. The service was attentive and very polite. Sadly because I was distracted, I did not notice the server over charging me approximately $40 on a $100 bill. Being it to about $140.All I can urge is that you read the details of your bill. This error also cconsequently inflated her tip.
Kyla
I wish I could say how the food and service was, but unfortunately 4 empty tables directly behind the hostess was not enough for my family of 5 to be seated. With no other people waiting, we were told 45 minutes for a table - again, with 16 empty chairs at the 4 tables behind her she was unable to seat us. Ridiculous!
Bmubersoldat52
I went to Mr. Mike's the other night and had the special. A bowl of potato soup, steak, mashed potato, and garlic toast. It was ok not worth 19.99 but the service was good, I would like to try the restaurant again.
Rae
Good service, good food. I am not much for supporting chain restaurants but my brother has dragged me here 3 times over the last 6 weeks. I must say that I am shocked to see so many terrible reviews. I found Mr. Mikes to have great servers (I've had a different one each visit), the caesar salad, burgers and steak dinners were very good. Will definitely go back.
Devin
J U N K!!!!!!!! Horrible service and horrible time! Took 25min to get a drink(pop) and I had a pitcher of water beside me with no glass for the entire meal!!!!!! F this place! Never again
K.kay.schneider
Not worth it. I just eat here last weekend and pry won't go back. I ordered water and got it in a small glass that made me feel like a kid when i drank out of it. Had to have it refilled about 4 times. Sure would have liked a big glass. I noticed other tables had big glasses.

Excellent mushroom caps. Burger here was nothing to write home about...not bad but nothing exciting for the price...on the other had I do remember the mushroom caps appy to be quite delicious..though this was a few years ago so things could have changed by now

Mr.Mikes (Powell River). @Ricky. Today my wife is going to West Edmonton Mall to shop with her sister.I said you could go only if if pick me up a Mike Burger.(she could of still gone otherwise)She went on the site to find where to go and saw your post. Here is we are related.I'm from Powell River as well and Mr.Mikes( Glacier Mall) was just the best! Salad Bar rocked and Mike Burgers were and still are my upmost favorite. They moved over to the Alberni Street location and after soccer/fastball games I would wind down there, with a big smile on my face.Well done my friend. Now my wife has the proof for my Mr Mikes obsession!

Do not go to this place the waiter was rude and not very attentative, I ordered the steak n shrimp asked for the steak cooked medium, once I got my steak it was rare at best. Do you think this awesome waiter would come back to see how our food was hahahaha nope, I was able to finish the rest of my lack luster meal by the time he came back at which time he didn't even ask how everything was I had to tell him to re cook it which I should've just told him to keep because when it came back it was charred on the outside n still raw on the inside so all in all I will be crossing this place off of restraints to go back to

Mmmm... mr mikes. I grew up in powell river, bc.

My favourite diner was Mr. Mikes. I usually got the salad bar, but the classic burger and fries was my second choice, sometimes I would get both.

Unfortunately, Mr Mikes no longer exists! If your from BC, you will understand! This is not Mr Mikes. This is Mr Mikes "westcoast". Original Mr Mikes was a cafeteria style joint where you paid up first, took a plate, ordered your meal, helped yourself to drinks, salad bar and desserts. The only service you got was when your steak or burger was done and delivered to your seat.

The new, "westcoast mr mikes" offers a more profitable business model (since the last original mikes closed a couple years ago) which includes a upscale dining experience, increased prices and full service.

I visited this place on my birthday. I had the classic burger (meat, cheese, "mike sauce" and pickle). The meat tasted better than I remember, more of a charcoal oven taste. Same elongated burger pre-cut in two and served with fries.

Excellent. I suppose it has some nostalgia factor for myself, but I would recommend it if you want a good tasty basic burger. Yum is all I can say. They call themselves a steakhouse. I'm sure the steak is still as excellent as in the old days (the 90's)

Well... Hands down the worst restaurant ever! Services was painfully slow.. There wasn't hardly anyone in the joint, and I had the Sookumch-whatever chicken burger (as per recommended ) and eww gross! It was the most pathetic piece of nourishment I have ever seen! My husband and I were regularly looking over our shoulders at the delicious sushi bar next door.... What a shame this place exsists on bourbon street... I'll never spend money in there again! Sorry... I like food that surprises me... Not food that disappoints ... Oh yes, and flavor...
Danielle
Good Food. The service at this location can be spotty, but the food is usually really good. Get the Skookumchuk Chicken Burger - delicious!
Amanda MacDonald
I'll pass by it next time..unless desperate. This was my second time eating at Mr.Mikes. Having had a good experience the last time eating a phyllo wrapped chicken breast stuffed with crab meat. I decided to go back and try the steak. Also there was no wait time at Mr.Mikes which influenced my choice to eat there.

The service wasnt great. It wasnt even good considering it wasnt busy. The waitress forgot about us a couple times...However, the steak arrived pretty quickly and though slightly undercooked for my liking (I asked for medium rare and it was still kinda bloody). I dont mind a rarer steak though so I ate it, and it was alright.

It really didnt impress me much. I would still prefer the Keg, the Outback, or even Kelseys...but on Bourbon Street your steak options are not that great anyways.

Nothing to rave about here.
Sandra Drake
Hands down.... The worst restaurant meal I have had in Edmonton. My salmon was so overcooked that it was hard as a rock. I realize this is a steak place, but if you have something on the menu, you should know how to cook it! The sirloin bites as an appetizer were pretty good, but the main dish was so disappointing that I probably wouldn't go back there. There are too many great places to try in Edmonton and some reliable, decent choices on Bourbon Street, so why bother?
BrutalRooster
Best Service Ever!. We went to Mr. Mikes for supper instead of going to Tony Romas or the Cactus Club and were pleasantly surprised. The waitress was very friendly and gave us a large discount on our bill because of the 'wait time'. Perhaps my boyfriend and I are used to longer wait times because we didn't even notice. When she told us she appreciated our patience we were wondering what she meant. We probably only waited 25 minutes for our food and we had ordered steaks! Appreciated the discount and the food was great.
Graham Cracker
Slow service 3 out of 4 times that I've been there (I say 3 because I really cant remember how fast the service was the first time). Despite this, I think it's a great alternative than the regular joeys/earls/moxies etc. Delicious chicken burger. Ive Also tried the noodle bowl which was enough for two to share and it wad great. Servers have always been friendly
Cheesecakes
Burgers?. I had the saddest looking burger here. For about 10 dollars i got a burger which had only beef cheese and bread. Granted i should have read the menu to more detail. But seriously? would it hurt so much to add some sort of lettuce or tomato? and for almost 10 dollars could not say i was too impressed. Servers are really nice but seem to be confused, a drink order had to be replaced about 3 times before getting it right. I'm not seeing anything that differentiates them from the large chains such as moxie's and BP's. Until i hear about something outstanding, I don't think i will be back any time soon.

Mr.Mikes. Great Place, try there Chicken stuffed with seafood, looks small but very filling.

Boy has it changed over the years!. Summer 1961, I was a poor university student who took a trip to Vancouver with 3 buddies in a Triumph Mayflower (English car with no brakes etc., but that is another story). We stayed at e VERY cheap hotel just off Granville street (Mostly it did hourly rentals!) and just round the corner was one of the very first Mr. Mike's Steakhouse. "$1.49 Charbroiled Steaks" read the sign, and we ate there every night. Steak, baked potato, and salad bar, all for $1.49! You could get more expensive and larger steaks for as high as $5.99.
Years have passed, and Mr. Mike's chain shrank into near oblivion as times and tastes changed.
Our visit at lunch time was one of mixed results. The dining room was booths or a bar, and the lounge had low chairs that made me feel like I almost had my chin on the table. Other than a steak sandwich, there were no steaks that appeared to be designed for lunch, so we both settled for Mikeburgers, mine the plain Classic @ $11, and my wife's the Mushroom Mikeburger @ $13. Jodi, our server, suggested having their special sauce on the side. My wife, not having a taste for sweet sauces, appreciated that. We did both find the sauce very tasty, even to the extent that I was dipping my fries in mine!
The Classic comes with cheese, and the bread is closed on top. The Mushroom comes open-faced with lettuce and tomato. Lots of good fires with them. Gravy extra for $1.49 (the price of a steak in 1961!). Coffee/tea @ $2.59.
The meat patty was not really anything to write home about, being a flat, slightly dry 6 oz as compared to a nice juicy 8 oz at Kelsey's. Flavour was pretty good from charbroiling. Service was attentive.
The prices on the steaks would make me expect a more romantic evening style decor. The Interac machine is located right in the doorway, which caused us to have to wait to exit until the paying party in front of us was finished. I hate letting my credit card out of sight, and would dearly suggest that they get portable machines to use at the table.
I will probably try again some time for the steaks, in an evening, but make sure you have lots of cash or plenty of room on your credit card. 3/5

Mr.mikes has a chance to stand out but missed the mark. It has a all menu. I had the burger with sweet fries. Way over priced and nothing special about it. Prepackaged meat. Small amount of sweet fries. To charge $ 2 more is out of line. It has a nice building and the service was good. The interact is right at the front door, go wireless! 2.5 out of 5 . Hope the owners read this and make changes. It's not the staff it's managment.

Best burger in Edmonton. I have never left there regretting my choice, their clam chowder is wonderful aswell as there salads. Atmosphere is warm and welcoming, I've been there alone and as a group and enjoyed it both time. It has become a must for me to go there everytime i'm at the West Edmonton Mall

Just didn't get it right.......... My wife and I went to Mr Mikes tonight and nothing really worked. We sat at a table in the bar, only to be told that the booth was classed as "the restaurant" and people were waiting for that table. No problem , we moved to a hightop that was classed as "the bar". Service was very slow, and it was 2 servers and 15 minutes before we had drinks (ordered through another server because ours at her own admission was " too busy"). I ordered a beer and my wife a frozen margerita, both drinks were very good.
I ordered a Mikes mushroom burger, and my wife ordered a shrimp/scallop salad. The burger was served on french garlic bread, which overpowered the meat, but tasted great, however why don't they shape the round patties to the shape of the bread? It was a case of eating bread, then burger, then bread. The burger was tasty though and the fries were very hot. My wifes salad was uninspired, the "pan fried" scallops and shrimp were cold, and she felt there was something missing. However the accompanying bread was "lovely", and my wife left full.
We spoke to our server about our problems and they did discount my wifes salad by 50%, and whilst none of the problems were major ones, there were so many minor ones that we left relatively unimpressed (shame because I thoroughly enjoyed their beer). Interestingly enough, the booth we were moved from was never occupied during our stay.

Tasty but Pricey. Good food but overpriced for the portion size. Not a huge variety in menu but their steaks are well done.

I had steak bites for an appetizer and salmon neptune, which had cream cheese. both delicious. Entrée was not overwhelming proportionally but was filling none the less

3/5 for Mr. Mike's. A few months ago, Mike and I had noticed while in WEM that this was opening. We'd never heard of it, but wanted to go solely because of the name, for obvious reasons.
Recently, when trying to decide on a place to eat while in WEM, we noticed that it was now open.
The decor is very classy - but very similar to other WEM restaurants on Bourbon Street such as Earls and Moxies. I did find the multi-levels interesting, but the before mentioned restaurants also have this.

I actually wasn't feeling that well, so I just had a water. We usually get appitizers also, but didn't. It wasn't our normal eating style.
The steaks sounded good, and I was temped by the filet mignon, but Mike suggested that we get MIKEBURGERS - and I couldn't really argue, after all, it is HIS restaurant.

I had the Bacon Mikeburger (13$) - bacon, cheddar, tomato, onion and lettuce. I said no onion. The thing that's different about these burgers is that they are served on a garlic toasted French loaf with Mike's special succulent sauce.
It was actually pretty good - but nothing mind-blowing. But then again, that could have been due to how I was feeling. I might have to give this place a second chance to be more fair.

*Mike had a good idea that if you showed them your ID, and your name is Mike (or Michael) that you should get 5$ off your bill.

The service was friendly although not necessary the most professional. They leaned over people and took plates before people were finished. The buffet wasn't maintained by a staff member so started to look a bit worse for ware. I'm not sure what their normal al a carte service is like but I would probably go back and try a meal their if I was in the mall. I have no idea what prices were!
